Wow guys what a terrible situation and have to say we think this the most flustered we have seen you both. Love how you captured this with out over dramatisation and showing true authentic emotions. This is why you are our inspiration for content creation.
I feel your stress, we were in a similar situation returning from Cape York. Then our GU went into limp mode. Limped into Cairns and they seemed to sort it as a bad sensor. Then the car went into limp mode again about 100kms from Mackay. It was the start of a long weekend so was a nervous wait. Good to see you kept level headed and didn’t panic
Well done guys, Yep, the old big screwdriver is the Fitters Stethoscope. At least you could whip the axles out and tailshaft and drive in Front wheel drive. Benefit of a 70 series floating axles.
Hey guys another good vid. Great place to visit in the Pilbara. Did this about 2 yr ago and loved the remoteness of the area. Hope your car is all sorted now and you get to finish your remote adventure’s of the Pilbara region 😊
Great episode considering the circumstances. Can’t believe how calm you both were in such a stressful situation. Looking forward to the next episodes and hope things go your way. We’ve got our fingers crossed
We really feel for you guys being in the situation that you are in. No doubt the kids must sense your fear of what could or might happen should it totally fail. Like you mentioned, Starlink is a huge saver when this happens. Hope it all works out well for everyone.
We had something similar happen after a service in Broome, didn't engage the lockers and Toyota spent an extra day dropping the diff and fishing the part out. Luckly we caught it at the time. Hope you guys got it all fixed up without too much hassel! 🍻🍻
Oh poop. Not what you want to have happen. But you know what, you're not going to perish out there. With communication setups these days, life is so much different from the way it used to be. It just costs money if ya need a tow. I must say, you looked pretty calm out there, which is important for your kids. Thanks guys. Love following you. 😊
Looks like the Jmacx track corrected diff. I have the same one in my 76. Have had 2 Toyota dealers so far have trouble with this when greasing wheel bearings. There is a handout from Jmacx that you can give to the dealer mechanics that shows the procedure for bearing service - locking the diff before axle removal as you mention. Interested to see what the fault turns out to be,
I feel what your going through, what annoys me about all of these car dealer service centres is that they will not reschedule a few scheduled oil changes to help stranded travellers, most people waiting for oil changes would likely, gladly reschedule to help a stranded traveller. The first dealer chain that does that, will be a game changer for travellers, I’d buy that product over everything else if that was the case.
Cheers. I can see both sides of it. The locals need to be able to access these services as well. It's definitely a major challenge when travelling though!
Good tip about the traction control. We head out to Mt Augustus most years at XMAS time because it’s nice and hot and therefore quiet. However, you ID an issue that’s always on my mind when we go each year and that’s the fact that it’s bloody remote and on the road/tracks we travel there’s normally no one else around so breaking down would be a bit scary as I am not a mechanic either. We’ve not seen anyone most times once we’ve left the Mullewa-Carnarvon road so know the feeling and thoughts of “remoteness”. My ‘insurance’ like you is to get it serviced (over servicing really) just to ensure this sort of thing doesn’t happen. However, you did get it serviced so that takes away my confidence in relying on that “service” now LOL. Looking forward to the follow up vid now 😊 and hope it went well. Fingers crossed 🤞🏽😅
Now that you've got Elon travelling with you, you'll be able to call in the cavalry no matter where you end up which should give you some comfort and being proactive with maintenance is definitely the key 👍
Haha thanks man. Was only a matter of time before we crossed paths on YT and my/our comments. Ya funny fukk 😂. Popped in and saw mum yesterday- will update you tonight on CTM! Cheers Niggs 👊🏽🥰
Oh guys, sorry to hear about your troubles, this shouldn’t be happening with a new Toyota! Someone has let you down! I guess by the time we see this video and next weeks you are probably sorted, at least I hope so. Be interesting to hear what the issue was. You guys handled the situation very well, at least on camera as Liz said :) only hope it’s all gone well for the repair and you get to continue your adventures. Will find out next week. Stay safe out there and all the best for the week ahead. Cheers 🍻
Diff bearing on input shaft is most likely but could be output bearings on either side, is my best guess Good luck, best wishes and well done for not falling apart with the stress!
Sounds like you're near Milly Milly Station. I used to work there as a kid. Would be great if you could pop in there. I've always wanted to go back. Good luck with the car.
Sorry hear see your having trouble with your vehicle, it just goes to show that you should have some form of a communication device when you venture into the outback, wether its a Sat phone of Starlink, we hope it works out for you with minimal cost
Pinion bearings have worn the hardening off them. Very common problem, easy to tell since the noise varies under speed and load. Fairly straight forward fix, just needs to be done right And it’s a common problem with jmacx setups
Hey guys, just watched this vid and we have a Titanium and a very similar problem with the power system and it ended up being the main switch at the door. The switch failed, so I changed it in Exmouth and sorted problem. Hope this helps.
How's the view ?? Mate you slipped there, say " Its bloody beautiful " give her a kiss & then say " the Hills are pretty good too." From the book of Dennis 101.
The diff isn’t a Toyota part. It’s an aftermarket setup that converts the cruisers leaf spring read end to coil. If I had to guess I’d say someone forgot to fill it with oil last service a few days before the failure.
Yep, that's what they say. But that doesn't mean you buy one and you'll never have an issue. In this case it was a mistake made when it was serviced. Could happen to any make/model.
Wow guys what a terrible situation and have to say we think this the most flustered we have seen you both. Love how you captured this with out over dramatisation and showing true authentic emotions. This is why you are our inspiration for content creation.
Thanks so much, that's great to hear. We try hard to show how it is without carrying on too much 😉👍

Then the car went into limp mode again about 100kms from Mackay. It was the start of a long weekend so was a nervous wait. Good to see you kept level headed and didn’t panic
Thanks, mate. It's a weird feeling when you're immobilised
Well done guys, Yep, the old big screwdriver is the Fitters Stethoscope. At least you could whip the axles out and tailshaft and drive in Front wheel drive. Benefit of a 70 series floating axles.

Sounds great! Yeah, we love the whole region
What a saga. Great that you amanaged to keep a level head and work through things methodically. Fingers crossed for whatever the solution is.
Thank you!
Great episode considering the circumstances. Can’t believe how calm you both were in such a stressful situation. Looking forward to the next episodes and hope things go your way. We’ve got our fingers crossed
Thanks so much!
All part of the adventure…. Gr8 ep guys … safe travel’s always 🤙🍻
Thanks guys 😄

Thanks mate 🙌
Watching 1/10/24 , I'm hoping that all has been fixed 🙏 and that you are both smiling 😃 again.
Yes! Thank you!
We had something similar happen after a service in Broome, didn't engage the lockers and Toyota spent an extra day dropping the diff and fishing the part out. Luckly we caught it at the time. Hope you guys got it all fixed up without too much hassel! 🍻🍻
Oh wow! Yeah, we'll definitely be keeping a closer eye on it from now on!

Thanks guys. Love following you. 😊
Spot on. It's not life and death, you've gotta keep these things in perspective
Another great episode. Hope you manage to get the issue sorted with the vehicle without any further stress.
Us too!

Yeah, you're spot on. That's what it was. New diff time
Wow, sorry to hear tgat you've got 76 issues and keen to hear what it is as I've also got one! 2016 model! Phil
Thanks, Phil. Full update in yesterday's video 👍

@PaulMotu I totally agree, you do all the right things but you still end up in this situation
All part of the adventure guys ❤
That's it 😀
Sounds like 'FUN' - Great Vid

Thanks Mark. It's a bugger and frustrating but it's all part of it.
Diff bearing on input shaft is most likely but could be output bearings on either side, is my best guess
Good luck, best wishes and well done for not falling apart with the stress!
Thanks for the info. Turned out to be the diff centre
Guys thankyou for taking me where I cannot go with my rig
Thanks for coming along 👌
Sounds like you're near Milly Milly Station. I used to work there as a kid. Would be great if you could pop in there. I've always wanted to go back. Good luck with the car.
Very cool!
Thought roadside ultimate package would cover you for a free tow as car should not be driven.
Sure it is sorted by now ! Cheers 2024 pioneers
It would have but we weren't too keen to have our caravan towed by a truck on dirt roads
Hope it all worked out
Thanks, it has.

Fairly straight forward fix, just needs to be done right
And it’s a common problem with jmacx setups
Unfortunately not in this case, it was a diff failing
Don’t mean to be a smart arse and realise you have resolved it by now but given you just had a service did you check the diff oil? All the best Mark
Thanks, Mark. Yeah, we did. Unfortunately it was a diff failure.
@@TheLifestylePioneers bad luck but you seem to handled it well nice work
@jeep2701 Cheers
Chin up times will get good again
Cheers 👍
Hey guys, just watched this vid and we have a Titanium and a very similar problem with the power system and it ended up being the main switch at the door. The switch failed, so I changed it in Exmouth and sorted problem. Hope this helps.
Cheers, ours seems to be more related to the fuse panel.
The river bed bogging, stressed the diff?
I thought about that, but it was an issue with the diff after the wheel bearing service
Nearly said "What could go wrong", but caught himself 😂
😆👊
Could it be that the tail shaft has had a small knock and it's now out of balance?
We took it out for a bit and checked that, but it was the diff unfortunately 😞
Centre bearing or uni joint.
Diff centre unfortunately 😞
How's the view ?? Mate you slipped there, say " Its bloody beautiful " give her a kiss & then say " the Hills are pretty good too."
From the book of Dennis 101.
😆👊
TIAV had a similar issue with their diff and had to get it replaced in Derbyshire from memory. It was also a McCormack diff.
It's a Jmacx housing (installed by McCormack's) and wasn't serviced correctly 😞
All cars breakdown, so stop telling, Toyota’s never breakdown. 😢
Yep, anything mechanical can and will break at some point
Check the oil levels
I’m thinking it’s the oil. Probably didn’t get refilled after the last service. Too late now though.
Cheers, the oil level was fine
I thought Toyotas were unbreakable that’s what Toyota owners say don’t they
The diff isn’t a Toyota part.
@Mi-ck it's a Toyota diff, it's only the housing that's aftermarket.
Drying your oil and look for metal, why are you there?
I'm guessing that's meant to be draining the oil? Why are we where?
