I subbed immediately after watching that section! I love this pedal and was neglecting the amazing possibilities of it’s looper due to not fully getting this step!
Great video! I watched a few other videos on this pedal before discovering this one and you do the best job by far of explaining how to actually use this complex pedal
@@WorshipGuitarLab If you have time could you do a Vid on how to play soft synths through the unit. I have a couple of nice vst’s that I would love to hear via the microcosm. Thanks for taking the time to respond. 😎
I am Waiting on my Hologram to arrive, I am glad that I found this video. So far it has been the best instructional video. I like to play with things before reading the manual so this was perfect
Thank you so much sir!!! I just got this pedal yesterday and have been trying to find a video that just goes through all the settings rather than simply play tunes! Huge thanks 😊👍🏼
Read the little words. You know, the ones on those little things called pages. Believe it or not, they teach you EVERYTHING (technical) about this pedal.
Sick video! I just got mine today. I love that you are saying "Phase looper" instead of "Phrase looper" because that's what my brain saw every time too lol
I've had mine for only a day and playing while you're explaining is leading to a bit more of an understanding of this thing....I felt very lost without any menus but I think I'm starting to getting this thing now. Thanks
Excellent video that actually teaches one how to use the unit. 99% of videos are just tweaking aimlessly without knowing how results are achieved. Thank you. Great video. Please tell me about the output stage. Is the gain very low and how does one avoid embarrassment of silent patches. Thanks in advance 🙏
@@WorshipGuitarLab 1. I believe the microcosm has a very low output gain stage. Is this true ? 2. When changing patches is the transition smooth or abrupt I have yet to order my unit Thanks for your response 🙏👍
10:14 thank you! I’ve spent almost 2 hours trying to figure out how to actually select a looper mode. Doesnt say in the manual the exactly combo of press and holds to achieve this and i’ve watched 16 tutorials where nobody mentions the exact steps. Its like a video game password you have to guess
I’m sorry for such a newbie question but I’m hoping someone can advise me. I bought a microcosm and haven’t set it up yet. I bought a novation Ks5 to act as a midi controller for my soft synths as the Ks5 is midi assignable and it also has 2 sets of audio outs as well as an audio in. I wanted to play soft synths but with real time hardware effects. In global/local off on the novation Ks5 I think the audio outs are rendered useless. How can I use the microcosm with this synth and my vsts please? I have a behringer umc 1820 with midi in and out - the Ks5 has midi in out thru - and I’m running Ableton 11 on windows. I do hope there’s a way I can combine midi controller, soft synths and this amazing pedal. Thank you in advance to anyone who can support me on this.
A proper video manual for this beast of a pedal would take much longer than 16 mins. Just because there is soooo much going on and to show. But good effort 😮
If you want to use the interface to monitor or record the Microcosm, i.e. the most conventional way of using, you simply go from Instrument > Microcosm and then the outputs of the Microcosm into two inputs on the Apollo. If you want to use the Micrcosm as an outboard effect, I. E. You want to use it to affect a pre-recorded track or the signal from a DAW, then you would go from a send/output on the Apollo into the Microcosm and then from the pedal outputs back into the returns/ins. You would need to configure your outputs in the DAW. If you share some info about how you're trying to use it and with what equipment, I'm sure some of us could help.
Quick simple question that has been driving me nuts. How does one turn off the phrase looper once turned on? I have spent about 4 hours on this frustrating thing!
Really well explained....got my hologram yesterday... the manual is a bit confusing..... therefore this video is quite helpful. A question...is there a way to switch it completely off...by not cutting the electricity off.....?
Hii just received mine recently, was wondering if I could hook it up to my rc 505 loopstation? To use it with a mic, Any tips here? Thank you in advance!
run it into a loopstation you mean? I don't see why not. Apparently you can use a midi signal to do tempo sync with other devices, but I've never tried. If the loopstation had that capability, in theory you could use it to control the tempo of the Microcosm so they both stay in sync better. That'd be dope! Let me know if you figure that out!
I think I'll make a video on how to read manuals. Remember the day, prior to phones and YT, when people actually had to read and/or really enjoyed it? I don't mean simple manuals for a guitar pedals, but real directions. I'm amazed at the number of people who depend on UA-cam --like helpless children without their mommy. If their phone doesn't tell them how to do something in 8 minutes, they freak out. Sorry to be an aas, but seeing this title was the last straw. I'm just shocked at how many "How-To" videos there are about this pedal. It's not the freakin' Hadron Collider, FFS. Currently, on the right side of my YT page, I see 3 (out of 7) HOW-TO videos about this pedal. It only took me about 3 hours of reading the manual, while simultaneously turning knobs, and doing/playing what i had just read to learn it pretty well. Well enough to start writing simple phrases with it, at least. Let's just say that I know the pedal well enough, after a week with it, that i'm seriously thinking about getting a second one, now that i'm beginning to realize how two may be able to offer an extremely powerful creative tool. It's not the same just using its looper, or recording one track with it, due to the pedals highly 'improvisational' personality; as yet, I haven't been able to play a short phrase, back to back, which sounds the same. Simply put, any track you lay down will sound vastly different (for the most part) to the next take. Wow, and all because I know how to read well. yes yes, I hear the other side already saying something like, "But i just don't 'get it', I've never used a pedal like this". Well, that's all about creativity, and there isn't a manual for that.
Worship guitar guys seem to be the prime audience for every *new gimmick pedal* ala constantly chasing new gear. It's weird. Boutique everything, boards more complex than touring guys. Where does it end?
Actually agree with you. In all the incredible options available in our time, it’s waaaay too easy to get caught up in the gear, losing sight of what it should actually be about!
This is the only video that actually explains the looper. Everyone just skips to (CLICK TAP TO LOOP), was frustrating.
