This is the kind of video gaming I like to see. So many times, I've seen people take warp zones and win the game without taking the time to score points and beat enemies. One thing I love about this longplay is that he beats Bowser every time. (The 5000 and six fireworks at the flagpole is similarly impressive, but tiring after a while.) ProMonarchyGenius Yes, I do like it. It is still a very interesting game, but it takes a lot of work : I have only been to the 4th world yet. Did you have the patience to finish it when you were a kid ?
Before SMB, a platform game to me was a slow-paced game like Jet Set Willy or Monty on the Run. Your jumps were fixed in direction and magnitude, you couldn't alter your trajectory, and movement was stiff and rigid. SMB changed that by making things dynamic. It was amazing how much "weight" the Mario character had as he made jumps and bounced off of enemies. Even though the levels were still blocky with exclusively flat platforms, like the games that came before it, adding player physics really created the "athletic platformer" genre and set the standard.
Things i noticed today in mario, what i missed as a kid. When mario kills a fake bowser any from 1-4 to 7-4, it actually shows the different bowser's minion that's being killed until 8-4 where actual bowser is toppled down. And again mario's lives are actually shown in hexadecimal.

I particularly like 10:00 & 30:00 - very impressive. You set a good standard, there are too many amateurs uploading longplays.
I think some people over-rate this game in hindsight for how important it turned out to be for gaming in general, and the NES in particular. Or they over-rate it in a fit of nostalgia. But you know what? If they do over-rate it, it's not by much. Because dammit, this game is still fun as hell, and I do think it deserves most of the praise it receives. I sure love it, and I think it still stands up well against all games ever made, on any platform, to this day. Kudos on a NICE longplay!!
Goombas: easy to defeat Koopas: quite easy Lakitu: never stops throwing spinys Spinys: land on the place your running equiling in death Buzzys: hardly in the game Bullet bill: are really fast Podoboo: OK easy Piranha: why don't they pop up when you jump on the pipe? Cheep cheep: hard I guess Bloopers: admit it you have troubles with these 😐 Hammer bro: nice n easy Paratroopa: don't jump!!!
Mason Smith In my opinion, only the Goombas are easy to defeat. The rest of them are considerably harder. Hammer Bros are one of the worst because they toss hammers at you and if you don't have fire power, you're pretty much SOL (if you catch my drift). This also goes for Spinys and Lakitus. I forget which one Podoboo is. Cheep-cheeps are incredibly annoying, especially when they leap through the air in the overworld levels as you're trying to get through them with other enemies in the way. And yes, I also had troubles with Bloopers in the underwater levels. However, if you stay on the very bottom, they can't harm you, even if you're Super Mario. There's a neat trick on World 6-3 (not shown in this video) in regards to the Bullet Bills. At one point in the level, if you stomp on a Bullet Bill at just the right point, it will freeze and you can keep stomping on it without it falling off the screen. However, if you move away from it, it will fall and the trick won't work again. I remember doing this trick a few times in my childhood days playing this game. Yes, it cost me a few lives due to time running out, but it was fun.
+Jay R can't blame him really. Bowser never shows signs of damage, and since all other enemies in the game take only one hit, it's reasonable to think he's just immune
I've watched the movie Mario Warfare and saw that in the finale, Peach got kidnapped by the real Bowser Koopa, son of the GREAT King Koopa, the one who got killed by Luigi.
I really feel like I should be nostalgic for this game but for some reason I’m not, I used to play this game every day a long time ago, but I don’t feel nostalgic for some reason. I guess it’s because I never stopped playing it, because i kept playing it to this day

1986 or 87 I first played this game. My buddy had an NES with Mario/Duck hunt and Zelda. It was so amazing! True classics.
Goombas: easy to defeat
Koopas: quite easy
Lakitu: never stops throwing spinys
Spinys: land on the place your running equiling in death
Buzzys: hardly in the game
Bullet bill: are really fast
Podoboo: OK easy
Piranha: why don't they pop up when you jump on the pipe?
Cheep cheep: hard I guess
Bloopers: admit it you have troubles with these 😐
Hammer bro: nice n easy
Paratroopa: don't jump!!!
Mason Smith wait a sec. the thing throwing spinys is lakitu. at what point between this and mario 64 did it become a camera man
David Colantuono Podoboos are the fireballs
Wayne Smith Okay. Thanks, Wayne.
@David Colantuono Sounds about right, for the enemy characters! LOL! Especially me playing, back in 1991 and 1992!
I can confirm consuming magic mushrooms unfortunately does not turn people around you into turtles 😞
That was some impressive Matrix maneuvering with the Bullet Bills on 8-2
No damage, skipped all secret areas, always 6 fireworks at end. This is a real master of this game!
There are a few differences in level design and warps. Also, some power-ups have changed from place. It's the same difficulty and gameplay otherwise.
This guy is a pro at this game.
i never knew you could shoot fireballs at bowser. my God that would've made beating the last castle so much easier lol
Um, I have to ask... Why did you not think you could shoot fireballs at Bowser?
I was 4 when I played this lol
+Jay R can't blame him really. Bowser never shows signs of damage, and since all other enemies in the game take only one hit, it's reasonable to think he's just immune
Krebons1200 That's a good point. Never thought of it like that I guess.
After all, browser also attacks with fire
23:20 it's like you're building up the confidence to make the long jump.
The most important video game that saved the world!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
It's been 35 years since this game came out in 1985.
the farthest I've gotten in this game without cheating is world 5-2
I got world 6th on a remake for this game with emulators.
Yeah me too
Me is 4-2 or something idk
4-3
the farthest ive got was 4-4 because for some reason the castle just kept looping and i couldn’t beat it.
This was a great longplay. Much better than tne first one that got put up.
I want to use these Mario longplays, I will give the creator the credits of the videos, I really want to use them.
0:25 you missed it, there was a 1UP between the two bushes if you jump that is
Pure nostalgia of the 80s and 90s. My childhood, the Nintendo Entertainment System.
super Mario bros is the number 1 game of all time

@@JudgeHolden2003 Well, without Super Mario Bros, there wouldn't be Super Mario World.
@@asimpleyoutubeuser8625 yeah... But SMW is superior at every thing. SMB is masterpiece but SMW is holy grail of gaming
@@JudgeHolden2003 Well, it was made some years later, but you're right, I love SMW too.
I love the best-selling game for NES. Even music is best!
Passed about 7 hidden extra lives!
Born too early to travel the solar system, born too late to play Super Mario Bros.
Every Retro Game > Call Of Duty
ThatOnePandaGamer [Josh/Joshua Sanchez] yes

PePoi [Josh/Joshua Sanchez] I don’t know about EVERY retro game ( if you’ve heard of Avgn.)
The good thing about this game is that there are so many secrets that's its hard to know them all.

Guys did you see the new trailer?
I've watched the movie Mario Warfare and saw that in the finale, Peach got kidnapped by the real Bowser Koopa, son of the GREAT King Koopa, the one who got killed by Luigi.
1985 version,it feels great to see this one. I played it for the first time in 1987 I couldn't never beat the 3rd bowser
As many will call this sad, I call this love since birth, can't believe I used to play this on my mega gun console when I was like 5
The first videogame i ever played
This sure takes me back
I really feel like I should be nostalgic for this game but for some reason I’m not, I used to play this game every day a long time ago, but I don’t feel nostalgic for some reason. I guess it’s because I never stopped playing it, because i kept playing it to this day
Same 😃
