I kinda wish somebody would have taken the mp3 concept and ran with it. MP detail and quality, but with a fresh design. Like yeah, I know Starscream isn't those colors and doesn't have that hip kibble, but I love this design! Maybe the backlash was due to having no traditional Starscream option at the time. But in a vacuum, this figure looks great.
I miss my MP-3. I regret selling it off when the G1 colors version of the mold came out. I should’ve kept that one and sold off the others. It was odd enough to stand on its own.
The old 2017 MP-11 Starscream was $130, and that included the Coronation cape & crown. Adjusted for inflation it would be $138 in 2020. The last 3rd party version by Maketoys was $120. And this 2.0 is about 3 times the cost. Crazy.
True, it's just one massive indulgence. However, with the massive and increasing prices of these things, I believe we are correct in requiring quality figures that aren't time bombs before they fall apart.
The most beatiful Starscream ive ever had, and a Masterpiece figure when it arrived totally changed my perception of the character. Too bad the mold had that tiny little square you had to bend the wings around that in time became brittle and shattered, and those feet that sometimes wouldnt help it stand up. To me MP3 with all its flaws and drawbacks summerises how a real life G1 Starscream should look, except for the head (too small and missing those side vents that made the head boxier). Yes it had its articulation limitations, but when i had him standning like he just landed on MP Optimus trailer. I found myself lying in bed often looking at it, wondering what move Starscream would do next and what was he looking for? A feeling ive never managed to get again ever since, despite many MPs later being great and all, but not that much more. Other than Megatron, but thats all about his alt mode and in my case his kinda loose joint in his right arm. To bad MP3 Starscream has risen in price like a rocket, otherwise ive bought a new one years ago. And the green version, i could get a real life car for that!
I think there’s a lot more to critique about MP-3 Starscream’s weird feet than his hips, ntm (from what I understand to be) his flimsy, easily broken plastic parts. Overall the robot mode is very acceptable, and that jet mode is absolutely flawless. For that matter, he almost seems to fit in better with the Alternators line than Masterpiece.
Ok the new Starscream looks amazing and i will be getting him along with the eventual repaints of Thundercracker & Skywarp. Now takara i need you to start designing my other favorite decepticon Cyclonus
I would still rather see them put out a character they have not yet done. We still have no MP Jazz, or Galvatron, to name just a couple large holes in the collection. Still love the original Seeker mold's alt mode. I doubt any will come close to beating it anytime soon.
Interesting commentary/musings, terrific; not the norm selection of bots being reviewed & outstanding production values, no blindingly white background yet crisp video quality. Always loved the MP-3 (have the weathered MP-03 myself).
Mp 52 has to be the most fantastic masterpiece transformer ever is up there with the other best masterpiece figures like top 5 or top 10 I hope theres gonna be a repaint if thundercracker and skywarp
You can tell they definitely tried something different with this one. Obviously as the years went on MPs have gotten more and more show accurate as they can compared to how they kicked off. Personally he’s not my favorite but he still has his appeal and charm. The color itself would be something interesting to see crop up in other lines involving Starscream. Can’t wait till the new MP comes out, you bet your butt imma be looking at you and your content for when you get a hold of it!
I had it ... well, the Wallmart version, but he was stollen from my house ... I miss him so much ... I would like to have him again but oversized XD ...
Dude, you're on UA-cam? How have I never known this. I'm Cheebs, by the way. Great video! I really love everything about mp3. Fantastic subject choice.
I think I'm gonna get Skywarp. Is my favorite color scheme from the original 3, and also it might be the third one, so I have time to save money lol. BTW I have this toy in my office. Pleople confuse it with a model kit. Very accurate indeed.
My only complaint about MP Seekers is that we did NOT Get Enough Re-Colors!!! I have a fever and the only cure is more Cowbell or more Re-Color MP Seekers. I want all of the ones on the tfwiki G1 Cartoon, yes those no name seekers. Leave none out! Where's my purple seeker that's not a clear skywarp.
The MP-03 Mold is still better than the MP-11 and MP 3.0 Starscream in alt mode. All we needed was more robot articulation but that alt mode was perfect. (we need a waist swivel and I don't see it on MP 3.0 Starscream so I'm hoping Maketoys does a re-release of all their seekers.
7:30 Unique is an absolute. You can't have 'very unique' or 'slightly unique'. Something is either unique or it is not. Love your videos, thumbs-up and subscribed.
the hands are wrongly positioned in jet mode at 7:37, it should show the back of the hands, not the fingers. This allow for an absolutely smooth downside of the jet mode. Why do all TF reviewers make that mistake?
Constructive criticism: I like the music but it goes on a bit too long. Maybe have different music for the overview and the transformation. I'll still keep watching either way.
The new MP figures all look pretty great (with a few exceptions of course), buuuuut...the prices keep going up and the QC keeps going down :(
I have MP-01 & MP-03 and both are wonderful, they have a certain charm to them which the modern releases don't seem to have.
Had to reupload this one in case anyone is wondering why their comment had disappeared before it goes live!
Does the figure have the ab crunch and a swivel in the hips

Still love my OG MP-3, it's a shame the alternate mode in recent MPs became less and less real-word based and more toon-accurate

Mp3 is the first starscream figure and i dont really know why the latest starscream is 2.0 even though there are 3 starscream masterpiece figures
True, it's just one massive indulgence. However, with the massive and increasing prices of these things, I believe we are correct in requiring quality figures that aren't time bombs before they fall apart.
Your comparison to Binaltech makes this figure and some of the decisions made on it make WAY more sense to me

might be a hot take, but I really like these colors. Really hoping we get a starscream in these colors again.
I get a strong Energon/Superlink vibe from the colors.
This is a treat if you're both a Transformers and scale model fan!
I've the sneaking suspicion that I will end up buying at least the new version of Thundercracker. Excellent video, thanks!
That's what I did with MP-11. The only 1.5 seeker I have
I got the walmart version of this boi, no regerts
Ok the new Starscream looks amazing and i will be getting him along with the eventual repaints of Thundercracker & Skywarp. Now takara i need you to start designing my other favorite decepticon Cyclonus
It's certainly different. I guess it's from back when toys weren't slavishly G1, and this one was very much it's own thing with a unique colour scheme
I just transform it today, is a very beautiful alternate mode, and the best Starscream smile face... The head is a little small, but is great.
I would still rather see them put out a character they have not yet done. We still have no MP Jazz, or Galvatron, to name just a couple large holes in the collection. Still love the original Seeker mold's alt mode. I doubt any will come close to beating it anytime soon.
TakaraTomy should get to work on updated versions of the Masterpiece G1 Coneheads.
Interesting commentary/musings, terrific; not the norm selection of bots being reviewed & outstanding production values, no blindingly white background yet crisp video quality. Always loved the MP-3 (have the weathered MP-03 myself).
Thank you for the lovely comments! Appreciate that. And yeah, MP-3 is great, isn’t he?
I love the realistic approach of the older MPs, not a fan of the current animation-accurate looks.
Go to jail

There already is mp 52 thunder cracker
@@jji6236 I already know that before I didn’t
What is really noticeable between the first 2 and this new version coming out now is that the air intake do not transform anymore or so it looks like.
Another great video! I've always been curious about this mold, so it's great to see a comprehensive overview of it like this.
I JUST got the very mold right now unboxing it, except it's Skywarp

The metalic plastic effect of Thundercracker is excellent...
Yeah that jet mode is still spectacular. Mine is on its flight stand, while the cartoon colored one is in robot one.
Dude, you're on UA-cam? How have I never known this. I'm Cheebs, by the way. Great video! I really love everything about mp3. Fantastic subject choice.
And then hyper realistic blue/green starscream poped out! 2spooky4me!
Interesting. The prototype for mp-03 resembles mp-11 exactly...
Good old MP-03. Liam paid me to say that.
Not gonna lie, that G1 repaint looks fantastic. If Hot Rod 2.0, Megatron 2.0 and Soundwave get to have G1 colors, Starscream should get one too.
I think I'm gonna get Skywarp. Is my favorite color scheme from the original 3, and also it might be the third one, so I have time to save money lol. BTW I have this toy in my office. Pleople confuse it with a model kit. Very accurate indeed.
I’m very tempted by the new one, but potential QC problems are worrying me. Maybe I’ll see how Arcee turns out QC-wise.
Granny boobs? I personally prefer MMC's Azalea. Big Firebird's Nicee is fun too.
wow love the intro section on this
This is amazing. I listed my MP-03 on Ebay.ca yesterday. Now I want to keep it!!
Ah yes, Greenscream. The designer apaprently chose this colour to make it look like the IRL jet....wich never had this colour scheme.
Looks more like thundercracker with those colours
The make toys star scream is just wrapping up and thats a full set of 6 and a few rain makers.

A fan mode modification solves those swords in robot mode of MP -03 and that's what I did but that lack of articulation is frustrating.

Great video, love your sense of humour. Thanks!
Maybe witht eh prime AM sets due for release we could see a prime toy for toy of the week? One of the First Editions maybe?
I just want them to finally give us MP versions of Hotlink, Red Wing & Nacelle.
Any chance the mp 52 mold will be used for the coneheads?

MP-OH1
This mold needs to stay in jet mode... forever.

No waist swivel
You could fake it to get what you needed out of the mold, just pull up a tad from the rail and twist the hips
