Unpopular opinion: I like Redman. Just something about him reminds me of an anti-hero. Like take Ultraman but shrink him to the size of a human and give him a machete and Jason Voorhee's bloodlust

The lore with Redman being a refugee isn't from the show. Redman was an original name for Ultraman back in '66 and what you read there was a synopsis of that draft.
My head cannon is that redman killed a ton of people on his planet, was sent to earth as punishment, and proceeded to go insane and believe that the peaceful kaiju around him are evil.

I’ve got a couple theories about what this show is really about, which is left for discussion due to lack of context.
#1. Redman is evil and kills kaiju for breakfast.
#2. All monsters are evil and Redman really is an alien hero (he’s stilll not peace loving though).
#3. According to the comics, a bunch of monsters destroy planet red, and Redman goes to earth to kill them all. This however is recorded by the cicada humans and broadcasted.
#4. They’re in the monster graveyard, which is why the kaiju keep reviving. The kaiju try to escape the monster graveyard. While the ultras are busy on earth, they hire Redman to make sure the kaiju don’t escape.
#5. Evil monsters are sent to purgatory in a wasteland where Redman take place. Redman himself is a demon, who’s job it is to kill the kaiju until their deeds are relieved of. This is why, seemingly the worse things the kaiju did, the longer they were there.
Ex: kanegon was rude and stole a few bank notes, but that’s it. So he’s only there for 1 episode. Eleking had killed fishermen and miclas, and attempted to kill dan, seven, and the ultra gaurd, and tried to take over the world, s o he was there the longest.
Welp the Redman manga proves some of these ideas of yours correct...

70s was not kind for Tsuburaya Productions because of Shotaro Ishinomori's Kamen Rider and it became the Ultraman series competition.

The more tokusatsu reviews i see, the less i want to venture into the realm of anything beyond Godzilla....Love the bit about Monstrosities After Dark.
Well, I mean this is one of the Objectively worst Toku shows, if you want something that takes itself much more seriously, then watch a modern Rider show, like Kamen Rider Amazonz on Amazon Prime. It's not all cheesy kids shows you know.

I can never imagine that redman is produced by Tsuburaya. It looks like some bootleg low budget no substance skit produced by kaiju fans. lol. If I were Tsuburaya, I would rather scrapped the entire thing than to insult the senses of the kids and rest of the audience. lol. Even the spiderman segment in electric company though with same low budget, managed to produce meaningful stuff.
This would be a funnier show if it weren't for the nazi salute.
