I absolutely love that the main 3 are these smart ass geniuses able to make super high tech suits and still decide to leap 50 meters in the air to try and slash at the monster instead of calling their big ass robots
Probably my favourite older sentai show, heck even one of my favourite of all time along with Shinkenger and Timeranger. I just wish there is more backstory on Bias, explanation on the 1000 point brain concept and character depth on the protagonists.
If you haven't seen it, heavy recommend the Liveman tribute episode of Gokaiger. It sums up Liveman so well. All life is precious, but you can't save everyone from themselves. And if you can't save their lives, you may still save their souls.
Liveman is a groundbreaking Super Sentai show where so many things it introduced for the modern Sentai later use. The show was made during the end of Showa era so the writer pull out all the stop to make it great series.

Jetman is not Showa, but hey I understand that you might mean pre-Zyuranger/MMPR sentai. You should give some a chance, Flashman and Liveman are some of my favourite from this era.
@@248.n_n Flashman, like many of the shows in this period, had a really excellent villain cast. And it was such a relief that it was back down to 50 episodes after Changeman (which was way too long and the pacing suffered for it).
If you liked this show I’d highly recommend giving metalder a look. It is legitimately one of the best toku shows not just of the showa era but that Toei has ever made.
Dorothee is actually called Dorothee,she’s played by a French tv show presenter who ran a block of programming called Dorothee TV,where french dubs of Bioman,Maskman and Liveman aired

Liveman, in my opinion, has the best stretch of ending episodes in all of sentai. Like the late 30's to the last episode. I love how dark it gets. I just wish Bias had a more in depth backstory.
Are we just gonna gloss over the episode where a kid literally pisses himself because some kids pranked him because they know how much of a coward he is. Joe ends up teaching the kid to be fearless though.
@@ChristianAntwan I don't necessarily want to change your mind, but episode 26 was the part 2 to that episode. This episode shows the same kid from before and he teaches a friend to be fearless like when Joe taught him.
7:35 - so I have feelings on this. It's not just the Robo that feels like it belongs in the 90s. it's the suits, too. But Since Liveman was the '88-'89 Sentai, I suppose this is to be expected. Sometimes designs in sentai are just ahead of their time in the best way possible (Liveman). I suppose this is why the goseiger suits look like they belong in the 80s though.

One of my Top 5 Sentai series and it became my favorite due to the gimmick and casting/ chemistry with the characters. You have good taste, a friend of mine likes the series(took him awhile to sit down and watch the series) but still hate the suit and helmets. As this is one of the dark Sentai series that I enjoy(Maskman and Dairanger are the others and yes Jetman is one of them but I am not a fan). Great that you went over quickly all 49 episodes. This series did sort of change my life a bit and my favorite Sentai Femme is Megumi Misaaki(Blue Dolphin). God I fell in love with her and her song Spark! Umi E. Is adrenaline anthem for me. It was a unique series as they were going back to the 3 count with Sun Vulcan and the color/animal basis is very similar. Also between Daisuke Shima(red falcon) and Megumi Mori. The two are well known singers in Japan until the hits stopped before 1988. The 3/5 gathering motif would continue with Hurricangers(even the animals and color is similar and the Academy massacre) with Abaranger, Gekiranger and Gobusters . Cheers and keep up the excellent hard work.

I will say that the earlier seasons of Sentai have the coolest sci-fi plots, but were held back by technological limitations. I would love for a newer season to have the older concepts but with newer and better special effects

Carantula is Obular’s counterpart and Yodonna Mazenda (even down to be red’s ex and her sacrifice at the end-albiet there’s elements of Kemp’s demise in the concept of it). You would think Shadon would be Ashura, but he’s a bounty hunter who serves a different faction based on Gekiranger’s Summer movie villains who are the end game. I gave Kemp Ikergan’s suit as his final form since Kyuranger is not adapted in its timeline since it begins from Ryusoulger. Also Mabushina dies so Garza’s counterpart, who is Eras’s wife-but we use Yodon’s form and Garza’s final form and the sheep monster from the summer movie are apart of the faction. Minjo is the counterpart of the twin monster. Satan Minosaur is adapted here for Guildos so it and Numanjo are played into lore about Lokar and Scorpina-yet still robots.
The whole back story is that the faction started having liked drawn, so Garza sent a representative to Planet X (Crystalia) to get crystals to woo Eras and save their relationship, things went south and led to civil war and the extinction of the dinosaurs (which explains both the Dino gems and the Kiramei Crystals on earth. Dino Gems bonded to dinosaurs and the rest bonded to vehicles upon discovery-like Smog Jouki or once their surroundings exhibited a new trait-such as pink’s Zord being a rescue helicopter due to its crash site becoming a hospital)
I find it ironic that Mazenda turns herself into a cyborg where Bias created two cyborgs. I really ran with that for Numanjo’s counterpart, especially since we make this more about the females villains and the females rangers. In the end, it’s Goh/Carantula who tries to protect her by trying to transform via the Hornet Crystal, but fails to even get as far as Mari and Takuji in the process. His story is about find a community that accepts him for who he is (since he’s an exiled queer) that Mazenda’s counterpart takes pity on him (Kemp’s counterpart has a family history of crime so she sees him as useful and a potential foil to her and the boss)

OK, SO I JUST FINISH WATCHING THE SHOW. LIKE LITERALLY JUST SAW THE TURBO RANGER PROMO. Here's my 10¢ to the conversation. MAAAAN, I MISS WHEN SENTAI WAS THIS. I miss when they we SUPER HEROES!! Every episode of Liveman is amazing because it actually shows them caring for people. Modern sentai Kinda dropped that, They don't really save people, they save the universe they're in (which is the same problem movies like The eternals for instance) Super sentai and Kamen Riders aren't really super heroes anymore exactly BECAUSE instead of Saving people they either goof around or play with character drama. You'll never see a Ranger helping a Child who is afraid and wants to become courageous nowadays BECAUSE that takes away from THEIR "Character development" that might be enough for some people but they ARE supposed to be Super heroes, Why are they not saving kids anymore? Why don't we get to know the kids they're saving? Why are they all so... Selfish?? In Liveman I remembered why Sentai used to be so cool. These guys literally get up everyday and fight monsters who Kill people. Zenkaiger ended their shows looking at a Bright Future, But what was the earth saved FROM? Yeah, Nothing. Their meanest monster was like... Putting fart pillows around people. Boonboonger literally starts with a Monster that simply Traps people in wedding dresses. Why would kids in Japan look up at heroes that Don't put their lifes on the line for them? What happened to Go? Dude got shot...3 times and he... apparently survived????? HOW DARE THEY NOT MAKE A FINAL ROLL CALL IN FRONT OF BIAS??? They literally only did a 5men roll call when the 4th and 5th members Arrive...WHY? IT WOULDN'T BEEN PERFECT!!!!!. One Japan's decline in childbirth and two the current regime at Toei, it's why you will never see shows like the Soda era Sentai (or anything out of the '90s, if I'm being honest, I'll never see anything out of the 2000s) ever again, same thing applies to Kamen Rider, Even though that show has even worse things to have nostalgia bait for even the original enemies (Shocker) and just have the Showa era Riders treated like idiots, put in the wrong to make the modern heroes look right even though some of them are just flat out more idiotic, or turned evil for the sake of having a bad rider. (Sentai purists Don't want to admit to themselves, The shows have gotten worse All because A. Hate Power Rangers and B. Think Super Sentai will succeed in the west to spite Power Rangers despite the fact that without MMPR, Most American kids of the 90s and 00s to have been introduced to tokusatsu, Also casual PR fans are their own problems.)

Every episode of Liveman is amazing because it actually shows them caring for people. Modern sentai Kinda dropped that, They don't really save people, they save the universe they're in
(which is the same problem movies like The eternals for instance)
Super sentai and Kamen Riders aren't really super heroes anymore exactly BECAUSE instead of Saving people they either goof around or play with character drama.
You'll never see a Ranger helping a Child who is afraid and wants to become courageous nowadays BECAUSE that takes away from THEIR "Character development" that might be enough for some people but they ARE supposed to be Super heroes, Why are they not saving kids anymore? Why don't we get to know the kids they're saving? Why are they all so... Selfish??
In Liveman I remembered why Sentai used to be so cool. These guys literally get up everyday and fight monsters who Kill people. Zenkaiger ended their shows looking at a Bright Future, But what was the earth saved FROM? Yeah, Nothing. Their meanest monster was like... Putting fart pillows around people. Boonboonger literally starts with a Monster that simply Traps people in wedding dresses. Why would kids in Japan look up at heroes that Don't put their lifes on the line for them?
What happened to Go? Dude got shot...3 times and he... apparently survived?????

One Japan's decline in childbirth and two the current regime at Toei, it's why you will never see shows like the Soda era Sentai (or anything out of the '90s, if I'm being honest, I'll never see anything out of the 2000s) ever again, same thing applies to Kamen Rider, Even though that show has even worse things to have nostalgia bait for even the original enemies (Shocker) and just have the Showa era Riders treated like idiots, put in the wrong to make the modern heroes look right even though some of them are just flat out more idiotic, or turned evil for the sake of having a bad rider. (Sentai purists Don't want to admit to themselves, The shows have gotten worse All because A. Hate Power Rangers and B. Think Super Sentai will succeed in the west to spite Power Rangers despite the fact that without MMPR, Most American kids of the 90s and 00s to have been introduced to tokusatsu, Also casual PR fans are their own problems.)
