Im living here in medellin almost 5 years, and i only can sugest that don’t be dumb and freely trust everyone, that’s the issue of pple that come here.
Colombians wont like this comment and maybe you either: BTW, great video, and summary and I like that you dare to be real and honest (I hope you also were honest in your videos when you lived there). At first, I thought the title was just clickbait but then I realized there is big value in your content. Here are my agreements and observations: 1) You bring a lot of facts and what you said and showed is true: one can get scammed or robbed and in general the legal system doesn't work very well. As a Colombian, I got used to not using my phone on the streets for example. Unfortunately, I confirm all you mentioned is true. This is sad. I am also sorry that you had to go through this. 2) You also moved there for the women, let's say it clearly and be honest. And we have a term to address those people: basically, you are what we call " un gringo putero" even if you are not "paying" in a traditional way. I am sure you understand the term and probably I am not the first one telling you this. In Medellín, even at hotels, they write signs stating that "it is forbidden to bring external people in the room". And signs are written in English, so just imagine the amount of men going there for this same reason. Yes, like you. 3) As "un putero", when you go to a country for the wrong reasons (sex, drugs, doing whatever you cannot do back home), you will meet the wrong people as well. You will surround yourself with the ones that are in those industries or the ones looking for the same. It is a vicious circle. In Colombia, we rely a lot on recommendations. We do business with people that we trust, we even hire plumbers that someone recommended, etc. But for that, you need to get in the circle of the good people, that, unlike the guy that you interviewed in the video, the good people are 80%. But you were in an environment controlled by the rest of the 20%. Or... just be honest and accept that you are just doing sketchy things. What I dont like is that you went to Colombia with sex tourism motivation and then you expected your experience to be perfect, moral and pure. Yes, in prostitution, sex, parties with drugs, heavy alcohol...there is where people get exposed. 4 foreigners died in the last week. Can you provide context? Were they the people learning Spanish and going to museums? or were they the ones buying cocaine in Parque Lleras? 4) Since you moved there for the women and you said: "If you take out the women, what is left in the country?". Wtf bro? This is when I say that you moved for the wrong reasons. You lived 3.5 years and were not able to find anything else? You dont mention for example cultural aspects such as the music and dances, the African and Indigenous influence, diversity, festivals such as Barranquilla Carnival, leyenda vallenata or Feria de las Flores, the cute heritage towns such as Mompox, the literature of Gabriel García Márquez and his magical realism. Off course, you missed all of this because you spent the time in Medellín saying random rehearsed pickup lines and negs to get women. Colombia is one of the biggest hub for musicians, many of them have sung in the Superbowl or football (with the feet) World Cup. Great landscapes and great people. What else did you want? 5) Dating coaches: you mention that now in Poland it doesnt work that well. Let me tell you something: you didnt need to hire a dating coach to be able to talk and pick up women in Medellín. Just because of being a foreigner and going to the clubs where women seeking a better future go, you could basically just recite the ingredients of your shampoo and the result would have been the same. But to get ones that dont like you for the illusion of money, you need to be a real high-value guy. Not just because you say you are or because a dating coach tells you to post things that "pretend" you are. In Poland, it is different because they are less desperate for a better future. But I dated in the past several Polish women and have great friends from there. I do think they are very friendly. If you didnt find it yet is because you got used to people being nice with you because of the money and because you pretend this high value thing. 6) Taking advantage of poverty, to make a city a personal whore house, is miserable 7) Now that you dont live there, you seem affected by the statistics of single moms. I almost bought that you care. You did not care about it when you were looking for women there right? So dont pretend a fake morality bro, just be honest like some people in the comments that say that the smartest people are the ones that go there for sex and drugs and dont expect anything else. 8) To the people of Medellín: please stop overselling your city and telling everybody that it is the best city in the world and women are the hottest. This is what attracts gringos puteros and drug addicts
In my opinion the guys who come to consume women and drugs are actually the smarter ones. They saw Medellin for what it was early and didn't commit their life and time to a project of trying to grow in a city that is there to take from them. The foolish ones dig their heels in and continue the slow decline. Its better operate to treat medellín as a transaction because they look at you the same way.
Ehh it depends. I'm in my early 30s, been down here for a few years mostly just to save money and live more relaxed. It has been great for me, my work in no way depends on Colombia and I don't do any business here or own any property. I've just been saving up a ton of money and ended up buying a duplex in South Florida. I hope to be able to buy more rental properties in the US and eventually move back or head to another country. But for now, Colombia has served me quite well. I've been living with my girlfriend here for 3 years and honestly much better experiencing in that regard compared to women I dated in the US as well.
I can’t speak on Medellin that much because I live 5 hours south in the Coffee Triangle . It very peaceful and quiet and I doubt in my lifetime it will ever be any different. I wouldn’t live anywhere else in the world.
Is it a safe place to visit? I'm intrigued by the agriculture of the Coffee Triangle. Isn't that the cacao region too? Would it be safe for a tourist to visit that area? I'm very sketched out on Medellin and likely the other 3 or 4 big cities too.
Do not feel confortable here. If more gringos come then the locals will start deleting them as well. Do not advertise this place. No queremos gringos aca.
Dude, if you've moved on, then move on. You seem angry & bitter. It's a big world. Nobody wants to hear from a guy who got scammed & had his heart crushed about a country he says he's never going back to but at the end of his video he says he's going back? Move on!
I am a Colombian living in Philippines. I watched your video about your ex wife and I think is good you finished that bad experience. I agree with many things you said about my country. Thank you for sharing your experience
I like how that guy said "You think you can laugh at the world" lol. Americans, regardless of their ethnicity, are basically f*cked worldwide. Nobody likes us. I blame George W Bush, Obuma, and the Orange boogie man the most for this. Oh and who can forget Obuma's puppet Slow Joe.
@@ascendant95 who told you this bs everyone follows us maybe your are low value but I have not travelled to country that is not imitating our culture style technology and dose not favor our monetary system then anyone else's
Hope your doing well in the Philippines, trying to Court this Columbian Chic at my Work, She seems very Nice & Shy Probably 2 or 3 Years here in America Barely Speaks English but something tells me that she's a little Crazy when she's Angry
Regarding safety - after just getting burglarized for the 2nd time in two years, both happening by thieves climbing in through my 2nd floor windows in the middle of the night while I was sleeping - you won’t get any argument from me. Still two years left on my visa so I’ll probably stay in country, but very anxious to get the hell out of Medellín…
Sounds like it's time to get out bro. I hope you at least moved to a different place. Two years left on a visa means nothing if you can't make it through those two years to even see it. Sometimes you just need to buss a sharp left.
@juanvaldez7633 sorry to hear about ur mishap. other than burglary at ur place, did u encounter any other security related issues when out n about in the city?
Facts, I feel relatively safe in colombia because my reference in the US isn't your normal one, so watching my environment is pretty normal. I do it in my sleep. I also find trusting anyone difficult, because I know the culture here and I think I'm fine with that because I never lie to myself on how it is. The women..... they are very beautiful, but to be honest once you know how a lot of them think you realize the chase isn't worth it. Even with all those negatives I enjoy living here, I just don't fool myself thinking this place is a Utopea. I think all your points is valid and reporting how things really are in Medellin could help people not be fooled. Keep it up!!
But theres more than Medellín, North of Bogotá is a second world place that got a population of 4 million people and a different culture! Anyway not all women in Medellín are that way, there are beauty woman that got a great honor culture just in there, Colombia has the two extremes, it all depends of what ur looking for! For example rural camp life is a dreaming life, theres is the best nature of the full world, see the intro of "las hermanitas calle" novela, there you could see camp life, we got three citys of rural life in the coffe axis or "eje cafetero", i recomend armenia! We got also 3 cities on caribean coast! That i recomend santa martha or cartagena, Maan! And tehere is more cities!!! About woman ive been living just love in here, it depends just of you!
I'm really glad I discovered your channel. I have followed a lot of other channels that deal with Colombia but yours has a refreshing honesty. And you're not lazy in terms of trying to offer well thought out perspectives.
Medellín is a disaster.. but I've never liked the city since my first visit in 2018. It's more dangerous and ridiculously expensive. I live in the countryside..it's chill. I love living here.. but I speak Spanish as well. My guy is Colombian and the tourism boom helps his Spanish school 😅 so it's ebs and flows like anywhere.. spot on about realistic living here it's not easy and it's def not safe esp in big cities
I live in Canada and girls so conservative in Canada are so difficult...they say American Girls are complicated ...In my experience what I have seen they are more easy going and liberal...I haven't spend time in recently but I think is the same maybe even better with new generations
I also didnt like it that much. I mean, the city is pretty and I admire the public transportation, but I think it is overpromoted and overhyped. I felt always pressured to like it because people in Medellín would always ask me if I like the city or not and if I think it is the best place in the country, and it might be true or not, but I did not like that If I say that I prefer other places, they get bitter at me. Also, as a Colombian, going for lunch or dinner there was very hard, I felt like I was paying in USD. Didnt like paying for a breakfast prices that get me a lunch in a good restaurant in other less touristic cities like Bogotá. I also dont like the tourism that is developing there: people coming for sex and drugs. You dont see them in museums or contributing to society, just just fins them getting wasted
@@misutasutanto6312 LOL..................yeah. I'm going to Thailand and Vietnam in 2 months. The most dangerous thing I have to worry about there is stepping in a pothole. Good luck!
I moved to Colombia two years ago to open a business. I have traveled to over 40 countries and most of them have been in Asia. I am not going to criticize your point of view because no one can change the way that you feel. I watched your channel and some things I agree with and some things I don’t. I have been to Japan over 65 times and worked and lived over there but I still chose Medellin. The barrier of entry to start a business was good, healthcare system, proximity to the USA and the culture. My Spanish is decent and I study daily. I can understand your reasoning for not wanting to return to Colombia. I wish you the best. I understand the dangers because I grew up in South Central LA back in the mid 80’s. I don’t drink, smoke, do drugs nor really party but I do like to salsa dance. I personally love my life in Colombia and I do not try to convince people to come to Colombia who have safety concerns. I think that people should come to a country for a purpose and good people will come into their lives. I love SE Asia as well. I retired early from corporate American in my mid-40’s and I wanted to start a life experience and enjoy the rest of my life. I found peace and joy in Colombia. I have been married twice and I have adult children and one teen. I am a Black American and disabled veteran. I would have chosen Japan to retire part time but Colombia appealed more to someone in my condition because my chronic condition requires medications that I always have to get special permission from the Japanese Health Ministry to possess in that country. I saw one of your videos about different races and dating in other countries. I actually never had trouble dating in Asian countries, European countries or anywhere in the world. So I disagreed with your assessment in that regard. My second wife is Japanese and daughter is half Japanese. I will continue to watch your channel because I enjoy hearing your perspectives. Wherever you decide to settle in life, I wish you the best.
You seem like a very smart person, you will probably succeed anywhere.. Congratulations on finding a place you like and thanks for sharing your experiences.
I lived in Medellin 2021 till end 2023. I wasn't there for sex tourism or partying but I can say this publicly I agree with everything Wes has just said. Case and point if you're there for any length of time and you really do speak Spanish you will find out very quickly it is completely normal for Paisas to be paranoid of other Paisas. There is a very strong and present culture of "trust nobody" it's just a fact of life and any honest Colombian will agree with this statement. And this trust nobody perception exists literally everywhere in Colombia not just Antioquia.
The safety concern as you get older is def true. I used to ride motorcycles a lot in LA/OC traffic actually evrryday to work. Nearly died more time than I can remember like half a second away several times. And riding motos are so fun but i just had to think once i took a step back do i really want to go out like that? The chances are just so high and yea i have gone 2 yrs with no accidents but i know ppl who have died and friends with multiple accidents. Reminds me of ur colombia example. Ive been all over latin america and thought of moving to a few countries and looking back I think its not worth it. You made it out alive and i have too in my brief travels and it is a beatiful part of the world but again it only takes one time and i look back and think how crazy i was walking around medellin and rio solo at 3 am lmao. Id love to go back but with moving smarter. Surprisingly the middle east is no where near as dangerous. The older we get the more we realize we need to be responsible and reduce risk not just for our sake but our loved ones
The one thing I totally agree with is the prices have went through the roof , I live in nyc so me paying 2k for a nice apartment is fine BUT that’a becoming suburbia prices in the USA Same with resturaunts - prices way way way up
After Our talk. I still had to come one more time to make sure I was making the right decision. Just spent 1 month here and am leaving today. After spending this time here I can’t see my self here for the long term, for many reasons we discussed. I am glad to have finally make a final decision. Colombia has made me more great full for what I have already. Thanks brother!
I am an Asian man living in the U.S. sine 60s, but I was born in China. I had few short marriages. My first wife was Filipina and she was the only Asian I married. Others were all Latinas. I have dated different races of women in my life. I had an Asian girlfriend briefly. I was never attracted to Asian women because most of them were short and skinny. I am 5’11 and I didn’t like any woman under 5’3. There was not many Asian where I went to school either. So I dated mostly White and Latina. Here are my opinions on women of different races: I grew up in Los Angeles ghetto with majority blacks so I didn’t have much social life or friends until later in life after college. ******This summarized my over 30 years of dating experiences. ***Asian women in U.S. - Most women preferred white men. Perhaps wanted to assimilate more into American culture. ***White women - Not surprising, most are liberal and career oriented. They were not family oriented nor were they domesticated. I also did not trust their faithfulness for long term relation. **Most white women preferred not to date outside their race. Unfortunately, those who dated Asian man also were opened to other races including black. I met some white women thru dating site, and some thru professional organization and activities. I was not 100% successful but I had several advantages: I am not that short at 5’11, I have a muscular body, and I had a professional job and my own home.. I do have several disadvantages as many Asian men - I am shy, introverted, and do not drink and not very outgoing, and did not fit the party bad boy image. ***Latina in U.S. - They were not racist like some white women. Not many had higher education. Most had children at young age, and had responsibilities for their parents. Some had families in their own country to support. Their values have changed if they have been in the U.S. for some time. ***Black - I was not attracted to their looks or culture. Very few blacks took care of themselves. ***Asian women in Asia - Most are gold diggers. They just wanted a green card. ***Eastern European whites - Poor and desperate, gold diggers. Eastern Europe cities are not safe places to travel to and too far from the U.S.. *****Latina from Latin America. After several failed marriages with American women, I eventually discovered paradise from foreign dating site, and went on group tours and private trips to Latin America - Peru (Lima), Colombia (Bogota, Cali, Medellin). These 2 countries are more developed than others and they are within hours of flight. Colombians are more educated and modern than Peruvians. I speak good Spanish, went to Colombia more than 10 times on my own, and found my current wife in Bogota, I was 44, and she was 38. We have been happily married for over 15 years. She had 2 gown children remained in Colombia. NOTE: Latinas in Latin America were not discriminated against Asian men. To them I was another American. They didn’t care about age or look or what kind of work I did. To me Latina are the most beautiful and sexy women in the world. However, I was more realistic and practical than some men in my tour group as I was looking for a permanent partner close to my age, not more than 10 years younger. Some older men in their 60s were looking for women in their 20s and 30s. Many Latnas attended our group parties were in their early 20s. Latina from outside U.S. would make better partners and had not influenced by negative culture in the U.S. However, most had children at young age so be prepare to support them. This may be harder for younger man looking for wife.. By the way, I will never live in Colombia. It is too dangerous, even in Bogota. There is no place to go. Cartels are surrounding the country side. There is no protection. I could go anywhere in the U.S. You would not have the problem if you didn't try to establish yourself there.
Wes, I love your videos. You're honest about the way things are and don't sugar coat the facts to make it look better than it is. Always interesting to hear the locals take on things too.
I’m a Colombian who’s lived in America most of his whole life. I’m bilingual and can speak perfect Spanish and you couldn’t pay me enough to move there. Being an American citizen is something I am extremely thankful for.
Nice to see some rational honesty about Colombia. Makes me sad to see so many guys still risking their lives going down there solo to meet women on Tinder…. It’s not worth it. I went in early 2020 just before the lockdowns and I haven’t had a desire to go back. Too many other places to see. Since you learned Spanish have you considered touring Spain? I’m sure that you could get a ton of great content from that country. I would personally recommend Italy as well and cities like Vienna, Prague and Budapest which are all gorgeous. Best of luck to you in your travels! Stay safe 👍
Guys from good families seem to go to Colombia and hook up with poor girls from totally dysfunctional families. They wouldn't dare do this back home, but their intuitions are wrecked in Colombia because of the culture/language differences. If you go to Bogota and date graduates of Los Andes or Nacional, I think you'll be in a totally different world.
Hahahaha true. You'll need more than a strong passport and a wallet full of dollars or euros to impress a women that apart from beautiful is also intellectually solid, graduated from.those elite universities.
Love your honesty Wes. Prostitution is socially excepted in Paisa culture, it's not judged with a moralistic lenses.... Prostitution hold a valuable position within the Paisa social construct.... accepted as a realistic necessity of life. Why then is social media favouring the narrative that sex tourism is primarily the fault of foreigners? Sex tourism in Medellin is controlled by powerful "agencies"..... who benefits from this narrative?
I think sex tourism is the fault of a failed economy, we all live in a broken system designed to favor the top of the pyramid while the masses suffer - the elite want the masses easily controlled, confused, house broken, poor etc so they can remain in control.
Prostitution is legal in literally all of latin america. People who live near Mexico go to tijuana all the time for it. Every big city in latin america has brothels.
@@ECard821 It should be supervised then. Killing customers is not the best marketing strategy. It make also people not there for sex tourism afraid of the country.
I will give you a positive comment. You have one of the very few objective channels about Colombia. Most are either pure BS (like Colombia is safe, the place to go for traditional women, etc.) or they overstate the dangers for views. You are spot on with all your comments and all your advice.
I'm an older, white, Canadian, English speaking male travelling alone. I'm debating where in the world to go for a 2 week trip. I've always wanted to go to Colombia, it looks interesting and very affordable but watching this I'm having second thoughts.
I remember traveling back in 2010, by 2016 it was already turning bad and you started to travel in 2017 so imagine how i feel when i got back to medellin now... for me its still good, its still fun but wow it was virgin bcak between 2010 to 2015... best hang outs of my life when i was barely in my early 30s. The city has become a sin city and if you look at miami, new york etc it will just keep getting worst i would still take a trip to medellin 10x before miami or the likes but it will never be the same as back then
We are still a third world country. Many people from the US want to come to Colombia to have fun living and expending with dollars, and of course is great, is cheap, people, most of it is friendly and welcoming, food is nice and you might find it welcoming to stay, which you can do. Unlike other racist countries we are not obsessed with race purity and we are open to mingle, most of us. That being said, if you guys want to live here in the long run, learn Spanish. Is the language of the land and in the same way if I migrate to an anglo speaking country without speaking English I'll be fucked up, guess what? Is the same here regarding OUR language. Dont expect people to speak English, most don't. There is also a current problem with sexual tourism and guys wanting to prey on Colombian women because of course, passport and dollar are strong, but of course, if you build up your personal relationships with others only based on this, the most likely outcome is to have very shallow and convenient people surrounding you. What else could you get from that dynamic? No significant links with real people, only a bunch of people applauding all what you do, even your wrongdoings. Absolutely you cannot get good friends or a significant relationship. I find your allegory of finding diamond among the dirt about the fact many beautiful women are also single mothers very unfortunate. Along with gentrification. Sadly many inmigrants or, how they like to call their selves "expats" being able to pay rents in dollar or euro displace the local population paying in pesos. This is something that should be taken care of. Colombia is a beautiful country, filled with amazing things, but in the long run if you want to live here, yes, we are a nation still in construction, security conditions are far from ideal and absolutely you should pay attention to your belongings more than you will usually do, this is not the normal thing, hopefully we manage to correct it in the future, but these things are not going to be solved easily and would require time. Colombia faces many issues, as any other developing countries, even more given our violent contemporary history. Regards.
Been going for 7 years, more than 700 days there’s , everything he saying is true especially the last 8-13 months that country isn’t the same anymore, I just go to retouch my tattoos once a year there now for a fast trip, there’s better options unless you love drugs that’s about it
Damn, that's wild (about the gettin' scammed part by multiple folks.) I'm guessing u have videos on it? I feel like that would be very educational for incoming travelers esp.
I feel like every 5-10 years people say the same thing 5 years ago is was a lot better and 5 years before that is was even better and I get it cause it was less touched my tourists and changed by tourists but it’s the same country
So you left Colombia, are you still married to the colombiana? I was in Bogota 2022 for a month and liked it. Thinking about going back there, I’m from Puerto Rico so I do speak Spanish and with SSDI OF 3,000 a month should be enough to live comfortably
I think we need to accept the FACT that most men use generosity, kindness and the ability to provide (lead with wallet) as their primary mating strategy. I don’t judge - this can work. But it may cost you $500/mo in Cambodia 🇰🇭 vs. $5000/mo in US. Most men are so busy working they don’t have time to work on “game”
@@BasedInBrazil Those terms were “invented”. You can waste a lot of precious time working on your “sexual market value” and “gaming” women. There is cost of time or money in either case.
as a Chino myself... Ill stick to Asia or the West. Why go to a country where you have to watch your back constantly? Culture matters. Thug culture is too much in Colombia and Venezuela.
As another chino-coreano to be exact 😂-, I agree with Asia being safe and all, but how about other countries in Latin America? I felt quite safe in Mexico City and thought I could settle there. Sao Paulo is another place that felt relatively safe, although there are some sketchy areas to avoid, especially at night. As a free spirit I just don't feel happy living in Asia. Tried to move to Thailand many times over the years but some bad experiences turned me away from that place.
Appreciate your honesty I think medellin is done for Barranquilla santa marta is alot better in my opinion Also LATAM is so big colombia isn't the only country I think ur valid on the point of better looking women in other countries but u forget the affordability part colombia and argentina are the most affordable countries in south america that also have large city that's why nomads move their not only for the women
I spent a year as an exchange student in San Pedro Sula Honduras in 1996. What an epic experience! But the safety issue has led to my entire host family having relocated to Texas for their own safety on asylum visas. My host brothers had both been carjacked at gunpoint
I live in Bogotá (the freezer). I can’t get this country out of my system. I married into a great family and love my life here, but there are real problems with poverty and crime that won’t go away. I take the good with the bad and for now, I’m staying.
Do you think it's still worth going to Columbia for medical procedures? An under insured American would be un debt forever getting something like a knee replacement surgery here in the USA, but it seems attainable in Columbia.
as a Colombian i really appreciated this video because is becoming scary seeing herds of gringos comin in It is not fair for locals seeing prices going up while earning in pesos Best thing for Colombia is to welcome visitors but not people that want to settle enjoy the country for a short period of time and keep going to another countries like brasil argentina where safety is not as bad
Good stuff. Following your videos since beginning. You made a lot of mistakes. But you learned a lot. Your blind love for Colombia in the beginning to your hate for Colombia later on. I thought you could make it here. But then again 90% people leave Colombia within 2 to 5 years. For many it is better to visit here than live here.
Wes again these specific youtubers are not wrong but sometimes they often mislead their titles such as finding your wife on Colombia when it's likely that they not married yet lol. I just think they misrepresent Colombia a bit and should taken into account with pros and cons of each country and depends if you want to move to another country or not same thing with Colombia. Guys you can move to Colombia if you ok with unpredictable safety but just like everywhere else as colombian guy spoke to me about. You can get your watch robbed in rich areas in London vs poor areas in Colombia. Obviously safety has to be the negative factor, but if you mind your business and don't papaya yourself into deep holes and you good. Obviously Colombia is a simple country and you should move to that country not just for women, but just for cheap lifestyle, good food, good people and chill vibes. It's a good country icl, but often again they hyped way too much after 2 days of stay and it's like dude just don't hype about country and actually post honest and real content like Life with David did.
@@Rob-z7k Argentina is in a perpetual loop of economic instability. It's also the most woke country in LatAm. It is also insecure and women are arrogant as fuck.
I'm from Colombia and everything is absolutely true. I wouldn't say proportion of good / bad people is 60 - 40, I'd say is 75 - 25. But I'm definitely leaving soon because if the unsafe it is and goverment does not do anything to fix it. It's always the same and even worse.
Perhaps it's not just Colombia that's changed, in fact it has changed with new government, but you too have changed after your divorce, poisoning your opinion of Colombia. Just about everything you say now was true 3 years ago, and yet you pushed Colombia. You pushed Manizales... Which is a beautiful city BTW. My opinion is for people to travel, be smart and enjoy. If you put yourself in danger, you will find trouble for sure.
I haven’t gotten bored yet with Medellin and doing adventures with a girlfriend exploring barrios, fincas , and parks in Colombia. Thanks for your Greenroomie tips for learning the Spanish language. I do swim most every day in some of the Estadio Olympica 10 pools. I enjoy the Greenroomie experience of meeting many well educated and traveled persons from many countries on our planet earth. I enjoy participating in social cultural groups in Estadio - Laureles. At my physically fit age 80, I’m enjoying dating two svelte fit vetted girlfriends ages 33 & 40. In USA I’d have no chance to share happiness, joy and love dating wonderful caring young women.
Colombia is a de facto anarchy. It takes almost 3 years on average to enforce a contract, with a cost of 50% of the contract value. Locals count on foreigners not sticking around for that long, and they will in any case spend any deposit, prepayment, loan or whatever you give them as soon as they can, so there will be nothing to gain from suing them.
Actually Colombia has rental control laws that have been in place. with all the people pumping this place up the tourist areas did not have the supply to handle the demand so the prices got crazy but that is only certain type of rental like Airbnb and serviced furnished short term apartments.everyone knows Colombia is not a Business friendly country
I was born Colombian raised in the the USA but left to work remotely in Colombia I can’t wait to move out of here to Europe. I don’t like it here even though I was born here but having lived in the USA for so long I don’t fit in here . And being a woman I’m not into these men here 0 attraction
I'm going there to get a woman 1/3rd my age and we're going back to the US ASAP. We'll probably be in Mexico for the year that we will have to wait on her US visa.
You mentioned like 10 times those "specific UA-camrs" but you didn't say who do you mean exactly... Otherwise it sounds like an unfinished sentence when you make a statement but you don't confirm it with facts. "Life of David" has gone mainstream now and is trying to make the same type of content like other UA-camrs "Deep into hood" or "Colombian girl took me somewhere" since it is getting more views.
@@WheresWesI have no idea about which creators I have to make my own opinions. You kinda wanna make a clear point but you are not doing it by avoiding important facts.
@@cc-92 Why mention somebody if you are afraid to talk about them? You can skip that part and not say like 10 times "some specific UA-camrs" like everybody supposed to know who is he talking about... I can't read his mind.
I think the issue is that people talk about Colombia and really are talking about Medellín. I lived in Colombia off and on for 3 years and still go back to visit. I spent most of my time Bogotá and Eje Cafeteria. I would say the culture there is way different than Medellín. Even between Bogotá and Eje Cafetero the cultures are different. Medellín reminds me a lot of LA and Miami. Fake people who present themselves as more than who they really are and are looking anyway to make a buck. Eje Cafetero was way more laid back. Bogotá... well that city has its issues too. Let us just say it is different.
Interesting listening to you talk about what percentage of people in Colombia are good and what percentage are bad! 🤣 I have wondered the same recently about Mexicans in Mexico! In my life I have never met 1 percent of the TOXIC people I've met living here in Mexico for the past two years! ESPECIALLY THE WOMEN! Of course there are good people, but in general it's been too easy to run into bad experiences. Crude, conniving, jealous, insecure, toxic people! Generally I don't get this vibe almost at all in my current village/town, but it's been my experience during most of my time living elsewhere in Mexico/Yucatan.
In Baltimore or Chicago, I can legally carry a concealed pistol and wear concealed armor.. Not that I'd even consider living in either of those states! I can't do so in Columbia. I know how to bind my bride to me for 10, maybe even 14 years, basically. At my age, that's plenty. I'm retired military and she has an 8 yo child. Once I'm gone, she'll get half of my pension and the kid gets college paid-for. I get my medical needs, as well as hers and the kid's paid for by the VA.
Then they are complaining because many foreigners arrived and the experience is not like before. How ironic. From what I have been able to see in the videos of several UA-camrs, more will continue to arrive.
6:12 bro that is no exaggeration. Paisas are morally corrupt. It makes it almost impossible to do any business here because you always have to watch your back. You basically have to be expecting the other person to scam you every. single. time. you do something
I think is a narrow view about just only one specific region in Colombia... every local guy knows how hard can be Medellin for some of them: women (some, not all), local culture, inflation due to gentrification (thanks to hedonistic foreginers, mostly), local chauvinism, the "traqueto" (narco) culture, etc.... I know people from outside Medellin saying they´ll never leave that city, other ones prefer just a short visits there... but if you want to leave, that´s ok. No city is perfect.
Spain IS super safe, Im from spain, you can see marvelous cities and landscapes, in Madrid o Barcelona you must be careful of thieves, but IS very very rare, that a tourist can be killed or damaged, and police IS not corrupt and you can be confident that worry about you

It is better than when the Americans (US) and the British settle in Europe, they are not beneficial but the opposite.
Im living here in medellin almost 5 years, and i only can sugest that don’t be dumb and freely trust everyone, that’s the issue of pple that come here.
True
Same with Mexico.
I've learned not to trust people even more since I've been here!
Colombians wont like this comment and maybe you either:
BTW, great video, and summary and I like that you dare to be real and honest (I hope you also were honest in your videos when you lived there). At first, I thought the title was just clickbait but then I realized there is big value in your content. Here are my agreements and observations:
1) You bring a lot of facts and what you said and showed is true: one can get scammed or robbed and in general the legal system doesn't work very well.
6) Taking advantage of poverty, to make a city a personal whore house, is miserable
7) Now that you dont live there, you seem affected by the statistics of single moms.
Thanks for telling this putero the truth 👍👍👍
Sounds like Colombians don't trust Colombians.
The guys who actually invest more time energy and resources into the city are the ones I've seen get burned the hardest by far.
Interesting perspective, I wouldn’t say doing blow is smart though.
Good point. Even Colombian men that live in the USA just use the girls for a bit of fun.
Smartest comment I've seen about this.
Thanks Wes for being honest. You’re the real deal. Don’t apologize for creating product and services! Everyone has to make money!🎉❤

I appreciate how you able to change your POV and present your view f reality as you travel and mature.
What about the culture there makes it difficult to trust people? How do you think a lot of the women there think?

I'm really glad I discovered your channel. I have followed a lot of other channels that deal with Colombia but yours has a refreshing honesty. And you're not lazy in terms of trying to offer well thought out perspectives.
I'm Colombian, and I think you're saying a lot of facts.
Same here...I'm much happy in the Colombian mountains than in Medellin
What country are you originally from?
Medellín is far too dangerous to justify any benefits, you are completely right And I say this as someone who unfortunately there currently.
How long do you plan on staying there
Is Bogota or Cartegena or Cali any safer? Is it a noticeable difference? I would love to visit the country, but I have serious reservations now.

Thank you sir, for your military service and personal sacrifice. 🙏
You seem like a very smart person, you will probably succeed anywhere.. Congratulations on finding a place you like and thanks for sharing your experiences.
Curious, which visa allowed you to live in Japan?
The one thing I totally agree with is the prices have went through the roof , I live in nyc so me paying 2k for a nice apartment is fine BUT that’a becoming suburbia prices in the USA
Same with resturaunts - prices way way way up
After Our talk.
Cheers bro I appreciated our consultation as well
Great stuff bro, alot of valid points, keep it up! 👏
Thanks for your honest and balanced perspective Wes!!
Everything you stated is true. Latinas just want someone to take care ofnthem and their family regardless US or Latin America
Wes, I love your videos. You're honest about the way things are and don't sugar coat the facts to make it look better than it is. Always interesting to hear the locals take on things too.
Do what makes you happy, I totally agree with your video, safety is priority.
I’m a Colombian who’s lived in America most of his whole life. I’m bilingual and can speak perfect Spanish and you couldn’t pay me enough to move there. Being an American citizen is something I am extremely thankful for.
get prepared they will call you for war, you are and American citizen.
For retirees, Colombia may make sense, because of their fixed income and the lowest cost of living. I guess small and less touristic cities are safer.
I am SO absolutely grateful for your experience and truth telling.
You are a real informative UA-camr, so keep it real!
Hey Wes when you go back to Colombia, please visit Bucaramanga
Nice to see some rational honesty about Colombia. Makes me sad to see so many guys still risking their lives going down there solo to meet women on Tinder…. It’s not worth it. I went in early 2020 just before the lockdowns and I haven’t had a desire to go back. Too many other places to see.
Since you learned Spanish have you considered touring Spain? I’m sure that you could get a ton of great content from that country. I would personally recommend Italy as well and cities like Vienna, Prague and Budapest which are all gorgeous.
Best of luck to you in your travels! Stay safe 👍
It was a good experience for you personally and professionally. Times change.
Yup, 1 asian guy my people know got murdered in Colombia. Its sad
As a Colombian, everything you are saying is true!
Except for one aspect, the country has remained as it always was; it's just that his eyes have now been opened to the true reality of Colombia.
Insightful video!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
Great video 😊
Everything you said is true.
Facts
Prostitution is legal in literally all of latin america. People who live near Mexico go to tijuana all the time for it. Every big city in latin america has brothels.
@@ECard821 It should be supervised then. Killing customers is not the best marketing strategy. It make also people not there for sex tourism afraid of the country.

When speaking of the men in the US, it reminded me of the book “Wild at Heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man’s Soul” by John Eldredge.
The city has become a sin city and if you look at miami, new york etc it will just keep getting worst
i would still take a trip to medellin 10x before miami or the likes but it will never be the same as back then
We are still a third world country.
Appreciate the truth!
I love Colombia, beautiful places to visit, yet affordable. Tayrona park is very nice. I want to visit coffee region next.
Me too. Just dont pick up women from bars and you will be ok
But like Colombia is WAYYYY more than just Medellin, Bogota has always been a different story
I feel like every 5-10 years people say the same thing
5 years ago is was a lot better and 5 years before that is was even better and I get it cause it was less touched my tourists and changed by tourists but it’s the same country
So you left Colombia, are you still married to the colombiana?
I was in Bogota 2022 for a month and liked it. Thinking about going back there,
I’m from Puerto Rico so I do speak Spanish and with SSDI OF 3,000 a month should be enough to live comfortably
Yep, it's call Beta Bucks Market Value vs Sexual Market Value which is based on your physical attraction.
@@BasedInBrazil Those terms were “invented”. You can waste a lot of precious time working on your “sexual market value” and “gaming” women. There is cost of time or money in either case.
You're the man Wes. 👍🔥🔥👊 Colombia is dangerous, too many people getting scoped/drugged, robbed, and permanently deleted.
as a Chino myself...
@gaian639 I'm good with south America. I grew up with Latinos.
Appreciate your honesty I think medellin is done for Barranquilla santa marta is alot better in my opinion
Also LATAM is so big colombia isn't the only country I think ur valid on the point of better looking women in other countries but u forget the affordability part colombia and argentina are the most affordable countries in south america that also have large city that's why nomads move their not only for the women
I spent a year as an exchange student in San Pedro Sula Honduras in 1996.
What an epic experience! But the safety issue has led to my entire host family having relocated to Texas for their own safety on asylum visas.
My host brothers had both been carjacked at gunpoint
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿REAL. Quality. 💯💯💯💯
curios how much does a rwstaurant sell for ? and what happened to the real estate company
It is, Colombia is famous or it's quality on health services, being realtebly cheap. Just make sure to find a good place to do your things.
I think columbia has a medical center there. This is the address: 630 West 168th Street
as a Colombian i really appreciated this video because is becoming scary seeing herds of gringos comin in It is not fair for locals seeing prices going up while earning in pesos Best thing for Colombia is to welcome visitors but not people that want to settle enjoy the country for a short period of time and keep going to another countries like brasil argentina where safety is not as bad
You the Man 🫵 😎 Thankz for Sharing God Blessings ☝️
Good stuff. Following your videos since beginning. You made a lot of mistakes. But you learned a lot. Your blind love for Colombia in the beginning to your hate for Colombia later on. I thought you could make it here. But then again 90% people leave Colombia within 2 to 5 years. For many it is better to visit here than live here.
i wouldn't say hate but accurately can see the cons
Gringos sex tourism has started to destroy Cartagena as well.
Lol started??? That place is and has been the sex tourist capital, I live in Cali btw.
So where are you moving now can you pls make a video of the safest country to live in
South east asia or East Asia
You know what they say, "If they are rushing over here, then be cautious about rushing over there."
It's a good country icl, but often again they hyped way too much after 2 days of stay and it's like dude just don't hype about country and actually post honest and real content like Life with David did.
did you become a Colombian citizen during your 4 years there? also, why didn't go to other Spanish speaking countries in Latin America?
I would have gone to Argentina
@@Rob-z7k Same. Chile would've been another great option.
@@Rob-z7k Argentina is in a perpetual loop of economic instability. It's also the most woke country in LatAm. It is also insecure and women are arrogant as fuck.
Integrity.
It may impact your bottom line, but you are speaking the hard, cold truth.
I'm from Colombia and everything is absolutely true. I wouldn't say proportion of good / bad people is 60 - 40, I'd say is 75 - 25. But I'm definitely leaving soon because if the unsafe it is and goverment does not do anything to fix it. It's always the same and even worse.
Wes visiting Colombia again is gonna be crazy with some of the beef that’s been chalked up hahaha
Good content
Creepy af
@@xvzf115 very lol
Yes I think it's just best to stay away from medellín and Bogota bro. Other places are safer
Bogota itself sucks due to the weather at night. Barranquilla is nice for sun and beaches
Not for nothing Wes is a real Colombian respect man
Colombia is a de facto anarchy.
Safety is a big issue in Colombia !!
I was born Colombian raised in the the USA but left to work remotely in Colombia I can’t wait to move out of here to Europe. I don’t like it here even though I was born here but having lived in the USA for so long I don’t fit in here . And being a woman I’m not into these men here 0 attraction
Just admit you’re white-washed.🙄
I'm going there to get a woman 1/3rd my age and we're going back to the US ASAP. We'll probably be in Mexico for the year that we will have to wait on her US visa.
Lmao good luck. Very unrealistic
No need to start unnecessary beef, people can make their own decisions about other creators
@@WheresWesI have no idea about which creators I have to make my own opinions. You kinda wanna make a clear point but you are not doing it by avoiding important facts.
You’re being really messy right now… why the hell does he have to name names?
@@cc-92 Why mention somebody if you are afraid to talk about them? You can skip that part and not say like 10 times "some specific UA-camrs" like everybody supposed to know who is he talking about... I can't read his mind.
@@ThinLineMedia You’re acting like a female right now.
Interesting listening to you talk about what percentage of people in Colombia are good and what percentage are bad! 🤣
I have wondered the same recently about Mexicans in Mexico!
Hate always comes from below, never above ✌️
In Baltimore or Chicago, I can legally carry a concealed pistol and wear concealed armor.. Not that I'd even consider living in either of those states! I can't do so in Columbia. I know how to bind my bride to me for 10, maybe even 14 years, basically. At my age, that's plenty. I'm retired military and she has an 8 yo child. Once I'm gone, she'll get half of my pension and the kid gets college paid-for. I get my medical needs, as well as hers and the kid's paid for by the VA.
👌🏼
Then they are complaining because many foreigners arrived and the experience is not like before. How ironic. From what I have been able to see in the videos of several UA-camrs, more will continue to arrive.
6:12 bro that is no exaggeration. Paisas are morally corrupt. It makes it almost impossible to do any business here because you always have to watch your back. You basically have to be expecting the other person to scam you every. single. time. you do something
I teach Spanish 🇨🇴🤓👍🏻
I think is a narrow view about just only one specific region in Colombia... every local guy knows how hard can be Medellin for some of them: women (some, not all), local culture, inflation due to gentrification (thanks to hedonistic foreginers, mostly), local chauvinism, the "traqueto" (narco) culture, etc.... I know people from outside Medellin saying they´ll never leave that city, other ones prefer just a short visits there... but if you want to leave, that´s ok. No city is perfect.
Would you live in Spain someday? I guess it's safer and the currency is more stable than in Colombia. Also, you already speak Spanish
Yep, my next destination after Poland if all goes well
Spain IS super safe, Im from spain, you can see marvelous cities and landscapes, in Madrid o Barcelona you must be careful of thieves, but IS very very rare, that a tourist can be killed or damaged, and police IS not corrupt and you can be confident that worry about you
"Dios hizo tan hermosa a Colombia que fue injusto con los demás países del mundo al crearla. Así que para nivelar un poco las cosas, pobló a éste país con los peores criminales del planeta tierra." Esco😅
The same joke exists in Ecuador but it doesn’t mention criminals but Ecuadorians.
