I think about this all the time, he was a mad scientist in the guitar and music world. Jonny Greenwood, Dimebag Darrell, SRV, and EVH were and have been extremely groundbreaking and inventive to technique and sound, but nobody changed as much as Jimi, and that was without much in effects and recording technology. Jonny (and Radiohead in general) is the only one who really comes close.
@@davidclark625 Absolutely. Most of my favorites were influenced by him, what would they be without? And I think it's easy now for us to forget how much genius went into innovation back then, with no Internet. You essentially did need to think it up originally.

This is a great lesson and such a clear description of these chords. But the best part of this is at 09:50 Always move your body to the beat. It makes a huge difference to the vibe you put out when you play. Hear the drums iny our mind and play to them. Always play to the mind drums!

Ayla is such a gifted instructor. As an advanced beginner (oxymoron) she has some very basic lessons for my ability and this, what I’d categorize as advanced. She’s so patient sounding which translates to “encouraging” for me, personally

Another one is the major chord inversions he uses. For something like a "A-shaped" barre chord, you barre only the D, G and B strings with your pointer finger which places the rest of of your hand over that chords major pentatonic scale. You can do double stops and other hendrix embellishments for days with that chord trick.

I really like Jimi too! I have a Fender like Yours ,but, mine is a custom shop from Mexico . It came with a single ply pick guard I replaced it with a triple like the one You got. I was asked at a open mic night if my guitar was american made and being honest said it was Mexican . He said it sounded great and at that time really did not know it was a custom shop.

Electronic keyboard brought me the guitar put in my hands acoustic different circumstances. I'm a singer-songwriter now. Here a few strat players in Seattle downtown have been playing on the streets. The interesting thing to note is Jimi is self taught and most of his chords are made by simply adding a single note to the major or minor chords (including the third stone from the sun chord which is a G minor chord and just add the 7th note)

Play the A7sus2 with 3 and 4 --*not*-- 2 and 3 because doing so requires less reorientation of the fingers used to fret moved chord shapes: 3 and 4 allow smooth transformation of fretting what used to be notes played as open strings. 3 and 4 is way cooler leaving the "pinky note(s) accessible as my pinky is prone to do when it wants to reach for 11ths and 13ths that come off of this particular A major chord that has all kinds of altered intervals to color the sound of the chord.

I am self taught and I found the second chord the A major you mention, by myself! I knew obviously that someone had to have played it before me, I took a photo of my placement so that I could find it again, now I know that Hendrix found it way before me lol
I learned the Hendrix chord the wrong way, but I like it. Standard open E chord with the pinky on G and D on the E and B strings. Now my hand is in position for open string fun!

I am self taught and I found the second chord the A major you mention, by myself! I knew obviously that someone had to have played it before me, I took a photo of my placement so that I could find it again, now I know that Hendrix found it way before me lol
That G#m7 is a tough chord to play, but well worth it once practiced,

I learned the Hendrix chord the wrong way, but I like it. Standard open E chord with the pinky on G and D on the E and B strings. Now my hand is in position for open string fun!
