I just wonder how Ursa learned to understand English. Does he intuitively understand French too? I don't expect anyone to know, just wondering out loud.
Carolyn; what a great allegory about giving power (stardom) to one who feels disenfranchised. They haven't earned it and have no idea how to handle it and use it to settle grudges or abuse the authority! My best example is the famous college study where students were separated into prisoners and guards. Soon, the guards abused the prisoners because having some power went to their heads! Well, she got what she deserved! What a fantastic episode! Truly reflects our current political times!
The scene with McLeod and Ritchie in the doorway with their flashlights made me think of the x-files...which made me think, that'd be funny as hell. Mulder: Scully, there's a four hundred year old guy running around dueling people with swords...!
Duncan probably met every single immortal that ever walked the planet in his short 400 year life! Every time he meets someone, it's at least for the second time and he always has flashbacks of their first meeting.
wow this episode was so touching ursla was clearly in love with her but she was so full of her self she did not even notice him sad because he would have shown there is more to life than "fame" even after she showed her "true" side he still loved her .
Ursa is latin for bear (modern scientific name is Ursidae). The character lived in a cave in the woods, and was hunted. Referred to as a confused animal and that it would be hard to flush him out. Also seems the episode was Hunchback of Notre Dame influenced.
Great show and Amazing and sad stories. Caroline realizing Ursa likes her, and tries to manipulate him to kill Jenny's character and Mccleod is just absolutely horrible!
Fablan, I think he only met Slan once, Felicia Martins, the cop in Innocent Man, the crazy guy in Mountain Men, the guy in Eyewitness, the FBI agent in Manhunt, the hitman in Epitaph for Tommy, Nephertiri and Constatine in Pharoah's Daughter, the guy in Samurai, the kid in They also Serve (but he wa fairly new), Mikey in The Innocent. See, there's a bunch of immortals he only met once.
Tyler King the imortal after Mikey, Caspian, Sylus, Methos, Luther, the Magician, the three imortals Larca recruited and Kenny were also meet in there first episode
Adrian said in an interview that the actor playing Ursa was extremely incompetent remembering the choreography, which resulted in a snapped handle (you can see at 44:22 and 44:33). I guess the dude bit him for real, too, resulting in Adrian threatening to kick his a$$ . . .
Well there is some evidence that the neanderthal survived to the 17th century when an expedition to the canaries reported killing a group of savages, and gave a very detailed description of neanderthal. The Neanderthal reference seemed to be more along the lines of big dumb and strong. More likely though a medieval birth defect with mental function in the fashion of the Hunchback of Notre Dame, thus combining elements of the Hunchback with the Phantom.
There is no evidence that neanderthals survived to the 17th century. The canaries were first inhabited by humans are 1000 AD by people of north African descent.
Hello! Please help me, i want the music used in the confrontation between Duncan and Ursa, the name i think is "cold war", but i don´t have more information about this music.
Should Duncan have dismounted when fighting the peasants in 1634? Doesn't a mounted swordsman have a significant advantage when fighting multiple enemies?
Yeah they would because the horse can forehoove strike and back kick but it would also depend if Duncan uses an actual katana because they are meant for horseback fighting and the wakazashi or however it’s spelled is for close quarter sword and the majority of sword fights but judging by the fact that he hides it unsheathed under his armpits all the time I’d have to say he doesn’t use a katana and his sword would be to short for mounted sword fighting
Anyone know the name of the song that plays during the confrontation on the roof of the opera house? I've heard it many places but don't know what it's called. Cheers,
@fablan6 not really how about felicia martins? he's met her just once i think and never again. though i tend to think that it was probably only in the first season when he was meeting new friends
They're removing the eps, making them private and now one'd have to pay to watch some episodes. What a bummer, cinedigm. Ugh Im so upset. For the last 5 years I've been binging. The fricken pandemic brought too much traffic to the channel and now instead of 10 ad breaks per ep, they're making us pay. Ugh
Imagine: for over 12 years, Duncan was the recipient of the Clittening on a daily basis via an extremely hot French milf. After she was killed, he almost immediately got back on his horse (Badonkadonk was its name). It's so sad Richie didn't get to experience a Clittening for even a decade of his immortal life.
Well there is one thing: McCleod never met a blind immortal did he? It'd be cool to see him fight like some big immortal "Zatoichi" guy or something. It'd be cool to see him fight a cannibal too......not the fine young cannibal Xavier St. Cloud but a crazy cannibal killer immortal. We know how he gets rid of his kill. ;) Has he fought a ninja? It was cool that he fought Roddy Piper but there would be a certain irony to it if he fought the immortal Hulk Hogan. Even more so with Ric Flair. They should've tapped more wrestlers as villains. As crazy as it sounds, has he fought someone with a chainsaw? There were just so many types of villains that didn't get tapped.
actually yes he fought some samurai guy but in supose present time not in samurai time japan..he met a samurai buta mortal one ...chain saw ..actually they did that in the animei version of highlander...it was a big chainsaw .. sword won though...and a bout an imortal being blind... they kinda heal so going permanently blind is imposible ... unless they pluck the eye i guess...IMO
hello lobosolo2, this piece called "cold war" were composed by Chris Payne and Paul Rogers, and was a really very very difficult music to get in the net. For almost 20 years, yesterday i found it... check this link, write "cold ward payne rogers" and enjoy
I always get a kick watching this episode because I listened to Adrian Paul talking about how the man playing Ursa his role too seriously and was fighting Duncan. ua-cam.com/video/gztUYL4RhvE/v-deo.html
Montage326 What an amazing eye you have to see that fraction of a second! But it's there, sure enough. Easy not to notice with the beautifully stunning scenery for the sword fight atop L'Opera with the Paris skyline in the background!
in another episode there is a moment for just a few frames where the sword breaks when hitting a broadsword sized sword and flies over the actor/stuntman's head. no sooner does it fly past the head and the sword is whole again. tis better to have a stage sword tempered softly to allow it to bend than to have it hard enough to shatter if hit wrong. lessons learned perhaps. you will find a lot of bent swords in background fights in old samurai movies as well.
Wonderful fusion of Highlander's world with Phantom of the Opera and Hunchback of Notre Dame. Well written and acted!
I just wonder how Ursa learned to understand English. Does he intuitively understand French too? I don't expect anyone to know, just wondering out loud.
The hunchback?? Quasimoto??? Hmmm, his face rings a bell tho!!!
I'm glad to know I am not the only one who thought about those classics as well.
That's right.
Sorry but "well acted"???????? lol
DISCLAIMER: No immortals were harmed in the making of this episode.
😆
Well, Ursa kinda got hurt.
Just Adrian's sword 🤣😂 poor katana.
@@missladyanonymity and finger.
Except for that moment when he bit his shoulder (44:54 - 44:56). Adrian Paul apparently said the other actor bit him for real.
Some of the shots in this episode were truly terrifying.. Great episode.
Carolyn; what a great allegory about giving power (stardom) to one who feels disenfranchised. They haven't earned it and have no idea how to handle it and use it to settle grudges or abuse the authority!

I can guarantee without even looking that this fan fix exists in abundance
Duncan probably met every single immortal that ever walked the planet in his short 400 year life! Every time he meets someone, it's at least for the second time and he always has flashbacks of their first meeting.
Not everyone
🤣🤣🤣🤣!
I know rite!
IKR. Everyday he running into some old 400 year old homies n shit. 🤷🏽♂️😂😂😂
He fought in every war, Germany, Soviet, Chinese dis ninja know ERRYBODY.
not all of them but it kinda helps to put a little personal stake into the story rather than having nothing
I like the song and melody performed by the singers on the start of the episode and then on piano.
Late but I looked up the actress and found some good music by Dee Dee Bridgewater.
Duncan and Richie at the manhole cover is hilarious.
I was thinking Ghostbusters 2
It's like Quasimodo and Phantom of the opera mixed with Othello all together. BRAVO!!
What a great human being. Duncan Mcleud
wow this episode was so touching ursla was clearly in love with her but she was so full of her self she did not even notice him sad because he would have shown there is more to life than "fame" even after she showed her "true" side he still loved her .
👏 ☆☆ Roger Bellon's ☆☆ evocative compelling 🎶 score 🎼 is simply wonderful, far and away one of his best.
! BRAV-OOOOO ! 👏
Hmm, very Phantom of the Opera.
Ursa is latin for bear (modern scientific name is Ursidae). The character lived in a cave in the woods, and was hunted. Referred to as a confused animal and that it would be hard to flush him out.

i am like SO happy Ursa lived on, in my memory it didn't end that well. yay :) this must be one of the very best episodes, for many reasons.
Love this show👻
Quasiphantomodo!
Ça fait plaisir de voir le magnifique Opéra Garnier! ;)
Thank you so much. i have bee looking for this song for months.
The song Carolyn and Jenny are singing is called "Love Is A Long Goodbye" in the episode script but I haven't found it anywhere... Anybody has a clue?
Did you ever find that song?
Adrian said in an interview that the actor playing Ursa was extremely incompetent remembering the choreography, which resulted in a snapped handle (you can see at 44:22 and 44:33). I guess the dude bit him for real, too, resulting in Adrian threatening to kick his a$$ . . .
Really? Oh dear.
He looks like he really could kick his ass for real...
If Ursa was a Neanderthal. He'd be older than Methos or The Guardian of The Source.
Well there is some evidence that the neanderthal survived to the 17th century when an expedition to the canaries reported killing a group of savages, and gave a very detailed description of neanderthal. The Neanderthal reference seemed to be more along the lines of big dumb and strong. @Cianalas NicUilleim Your stupidity knows no bound.
Nothing from The Source is canon. The producers disavowed it
He wasn't a neanderthal, just a Frenchman
Nice and thrillng and filmed at the old Paris Opera!!
Hello! Please help me, i want the music used in the confrontation between Duncan and Ursa, the name i think is "cold war", but i don´t have more information about this music.
This looks like a cross between "The Hunchback of Notre-Dame" and "The Phantom of the Opra" . Mostly like The "Hunchback of Notre-Dame ".
beautiful ending
RIP Richie
The immortal of the opera?
The R-tad at the opera

where are the dates and locations? They used to be specified at each flashback but not here (: )
I'm guessing that's what happens to an immortal who does not get adopted.
Fredrik Dunge chance are he loses their head
Yup... that step child kinda rules
Anyone know the name of the song that plays during the confrontation on the roof of the opera house? I've heard it many places but don't know what it's called. Cheers,
Man she is sneaky as hell with that blade! JEALOUS and manipulative as all hell!
Visit our Facebook fan page this week for your chance to win free Highlander prizes.
I have the greatest prize...Duncan’s replica katana
29.14 the keyboardist tweeking the yamaha sy77 without a power supply, my father is a gigging musician and can't tweek like that
i like jenny's background singing it was awesome
@fablan6 not really how about felicia martins?
he's met her just once i think and never again.
though i tend to think that it was probably only in the first season when he was meeting new friends
14:35 music reminds me of Ravel's /Pavane for a Dead Princess/. At 16:27 it's more obvious.
Good music throughout the clip.
As a German i can hear it... Darius' Accent is so clean and clear. Almost boring...😄Is that Pierre Cosso on the Piano?
44:33 , that is why you don't use aluminum swords kids.
LOL
It doesn't look like it actually bent at 44:38.
@@The_Kirk_Lazarus the power of editing sir. Long live the jump cuts. Lol

what the hell i wanted to see how they got out of the catacombs. so much opportunity for story there
I wonder who takes His head?
Quasi moto phantom of the opera hunchback combo In a abby no less
My comments to show support for your Videos are as follows. -Big Thumbs Up
What is the name of the song that plays during the battle between Ursa and Duncan?
"Dont come after me!"
God he should know saying Dont come is practiaclly saying follow me
"Ah big, dumb, neanderthal, immortal, ah man"
The reason he doesn't know is that immortals can't have kids.
lol, the way she got totaled in the end was so hilarious xD perfect ending
Imagine: for over 12 years, Duncan was the recipient of the Clittening on a daily basis via an extremely hot French milf. After she was killed, he almost immediately got back on his horse (Badonkadonk was its name). It's so sad Richie didn't get to experience a Clittening for even a decade of his immortal life.
This comment is gold lmao 🤣

newlife Or he was blind before he became immortal.
KyodaiKen1979 That's a good point. He was a serial killer.
Awesome🕹
Well if immortals can have male pattern baldness, then I'm sure they can be blind xD
this is almost simular to phantom of the opera
Agreed 👻🤖🕹🍵
No kidding! Paris opera underground, mystery man in love with a primadonna. What gives?
So much similarity. I wonder if the writer was inspired by Gaston Leroux's novel...
the song at the beginning of the episode freaks me out.
why are there always so many different cops every few episodes annyways lol
Good question. Every time I see a cop anywhere in Seattle, it's always the same guy.
Strange though that Ursa had a wound on the left side of his forehead and it didn't heal....quickly
is it just me or is this a modern version of the phantom of the opera?
can we say "Phantom of the Opera"?
The Paaaaaaantom of the o-p-e-r--a is their, inside your mind.
Duncan's Katana is broken... (44:33)
hello lobosolo2, this piece called "cold war" were composed by Chris Payne and Paul Rogers, and was a really very very difficult music to get in the net. For almost 20 years, yesterday i found it... check this link, write "cold ward payne rogers" and enjoy
Cold War Payne Rogers?
YOoOoOoo!! Chris Rock was in this episode!?
I hope you all got it that this simpleton was a Neandarthal. Perhaps the oldest living immortal. But it is gently implied only.
He is full on R-tad
Hey new digital where did all the highlander episodes go?!??:
Urslas bite though! Dang😂
Duncan a real hommie.
The beast below eh?
Too... many.... jokes...
does anybody know the name of that BGM @ 42:08?
The photon of the opera Highlander style
He must have been worried against that giant
"The subway...it makes sense!" Does it, though?
i think its cold war by chris payne and roger bellon me too i search this music
As above so below kinda vibe
@MrBarbwireman there is no series 7 but nice try at a joke
Elsa: Mcloud
Director: cut!!! no no no! you didn't say it right!! take 15 action!!
phantom of the opera
'Phantom of the Opera" in a more "modern' suit
Phantom of the Opera meets the Hunchback of Notre Dame.
I wish that Ritchie had ended up with Jenny she’s a really nice girl, like Duncan and Tessa.
I didn’t realize they lived in a boat. Has anybody noticed how all of a sudden they have their swords out of nowhere 😂
Opening scene can we say Diva attitude in a bad way!!!
44:34 "oh fuck my sword broke. Cheap piece of shit. "
Valerie Marie that's an ancient piece of shit
It's a prop not a real sword
18:10 No one will hurt you here (unless there is a monk there named Kalas)
I always get a kick watching this episode because I listened to Adrian Paul talking about how the man playing Ursa his role too seriously and was fighting Duncan.

Ursa knew enough to carry a blade! 😂🤣
Adrian Paul on filming this episode.
44:22 You can see the tape holding the katana together.
ua-cam.com/video/gztUYL4RhvE/v-deo.html
At 44:32 you can see where the blade snaps off at an angle from the hilt too.
Method actors. Smh 😂😂😂😂
And he bit 😬him😂😂
thanks a LOT!!!!
thanks a LOT!!!!
This dude is much older than methos
'For me, it is recent.'💁♂️💁🏿♂️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏾♀️
@fmente try what?
I have so many questions
Lulu Morfin yes I'm here... way? 😋
Is it realistic that the shafts of peasants' pitchforks could be so easily sliced off by a sword wielded with one hand from horseback?
yes. pitchforks weren't always in perfect condition, at least not forever :)
At 44:33 Duncan's sword bends a lot. lol
Montage326 What an amazing eye you have to see that fraction of a second! But it's there, sure enough. Easy not to notice with the beautifully stunning scenery for the sword fight atop L'Opera with the Paris skyline in the background!

neanderthals were immortals too? figures, since they lived in what is now France.
Neanderthals were not 6'3" they were like 5'
Immortal Quasimodo? Weird.
It's suspicious he's always there, you see.
No kidding. Gives me the creeps
If there is a lonely pile of sh*t somewhere Duncan will always find a way to step in it 💩
the real question is why they havent arrested him for chopping peoples head off
😳The black lady Dee Dee Bridgewater, was 42 At the time of shooting this episode . She looks at least 10 years younger
They always wanna convict him of something new. lol but they find nothing
