This is the simplest way to assemble this kind of build that I've seen from the many videos that show furniture with this sort of alternating cuts of 2x4s. Thank you for the vid. I'm glad I continued to search and came across yours after seeing many of the others.
I love this idea! Modify the dimensions, and it would make a beautiful garden or entryway bench. Simple design and the possibilities the endless! Great job! Thanks guys! Take care!
I am a novice woodworker and I love all your DIYs. I love how you give the wood measurements, the list of items needed, everything. My son and I made a farm bench under your instructions and it was great. Our second project was under someone else’s instruction and we had a difficult time, even though it was a beginner project. We will be purchasing your book. I love my new hobby...Thanks to you guys. I will be making this!
You guys are awesome. In the middle of building that TV stand. Waiting for the stain to dry. Next I’m going to build that side table that Liz built to match the TV stand. Finally I will build this table. I like this table a lot. Pretty easy except the screwing it looks like....never would’ve thought screwing would suck so much. Edit: Built it today. Waiting for the stain to dry. Cost more like 65 bucks. It weighs a freaking ton. And it’s a little wobbly so I’m going to cut two 15” 2x4’s and attach them on each leg as a foot cap. It raises it by 2 inches but I think it’s actually the perfect height with the extra 2 inches. You’ll need two boxes of 2 1/2 trim head screws.
The Rehab Life Is there any specific kind of wood you would recommend? And if I want the colour to be more of a paint instead of a stain, are there any special instructions I need to follow to apply the paint so it’s even and coated well?
I'm so excited to have found your channel.. We have been moving houses a lot and you know what that does to the furniture 😭 but now the one we moving into is my retreat my sanctuary and Im happy to be taking your plans with me the only thing I'm buying are sofas but the rest we making 😀 thnk u so much from South Africa..oh Im in love with your channel simply beautiful...
This is absolutely awesome... not just because of what it is... but because of what it can be applied to and how easily it can be modified. Anyone can make this any length or width for exactly the space they need. And oh, by the way... make it short enough to be a bench and then attach some back to it? Bingo. Amazing idea for newbies and practical woodworkers alike.
I like the clever no-glue build using the trim head screws, but I think I'd add glue on all the long grain flat faces for added shear (side-to-side) stability. This also looks like a good design to adapt for making a bench, by making the legs shorter. Though I'd definitely design in a double thickness stinger running under the seat to add lateral stability. Great design for a weekend project guys.
Hey!!!! Rehab Life is back!!! Miss these videos and music! Gave me the chills once I heard this song again! New project I need to make this weekend! Thank you guys for your DIY videos.
I like this. I think I’m going to do this. Nice job. 👍 Your dog threw a great toss. That’s a lot of trim screws. 162, I believe (18 per layer x 9). Time to buy that 2nd battery I want.
I just made this over the weekend but instead of a console table, I changed the dimensions and made it 2 inches taller and 10 inches shorter so that it's now a makeup vanity. For the stain, I chose Cognac. Absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for the idea:)
I did this 2 years ago but ran the 2x4s through the table saw first to take off the edges. Alao put in a shelf for the DVD player and other components. After that I built a 3 side rolling shelf to put stuff on under the entertainment center. Turned out really good. Solid as a rock and just as heavy...lol
@@username-mark Thanks for the quick reply. I wanted to use this console for a TV stand also. I was going back and forth deciding between inserting a board or attaching 2x4’s for the shelf. I think I will do like you and keep the 2x4’s going!
I built the $40 farmhouse table you all did a couple years ago. Thank you so much, it came out great for my first built and doing it all alone (it wasn’t easy at all though)
That's a really cool little table. Great idea. I would love to build it but I don't have the $500 needed to buy the lumber needed. Lol. You got some really straight 2x4s. They didn't looks twisted, cupped, or anything. Loved how detailed the video is.
Man I love this channel. We have made the kitchen table and the nightstand. They are some of our favorite things in our home. The kitchen table has honestly changed our life. We have an awesome table that sits the whole family and it is amazing. You guys are the best.
Just did this project. Simple, easy, & looks great! Real sturdy. We are using as a charging station for household devices! Your plans are awesome! Looking to do more. Big fan! 💯👍🏼
You helped me out tremendously fr! I want to make a 60×30×15 console table. The actual one I wanted is between $1,000 & up and I mean UP. No! I came across your video and I was like ok husband get ready lol. We are making this! If possible, could you please give me the exact measurements of 2×4s I need for the top and sides to achieve my project???? Plzzzzz!!!! Thanks in advance and may God continue to bless you and your family and those gifted hands.
wonder how this would look with 4x4's instead of 2x4's. And, if you ran the boards through the planer you could get off the rounded edges making it look like a solid slab. Of course you would need longer heavier screws (and a planer). i really like the design. thats the great thing about wood working you can see something awesome like this and put your own spin on it. :) Great Job!
I made this! I love it. It took a while to get the measurements correct because mine was twice as long and almost double the height. It came out great though. Thank you!!!
@@user-imani370 the size is like 8 feet long, whatever length the 2×4's come in. And the height was 36 inches I believe. I wanted it counter height like a kitchen cabinet. I used mine as a coffee bar and it was where I put the ice machine. It's SUPER HEAVY, solid, so keep that in mind. I had like 5 pages of notes, front and back, trying to figure out the measurements. It seemed like it would be simple but it challenged me 😥. You definitely want to get that right before cutting boards.
You'll probably need help, a second set of hands. I did. I wasn't really strong enough to drill the screws into the wood. My boyfriend had to do it. I didn't want him to work on it because he was an on-again, off-again bf. This piece will be in your family for generations I'm sure.
Looks Good! For anyone reading, I might suggest 2 enhancements to make this table nicer. 1. Use wood glue between each layer. This will enhance the strength of the piece. you'll need some wide clamps if you go this route. Be sure to wipe away any glue that squeezes out, glue will not take stain. If you are willing to wait for each layer to dry, you can even skip most of the screws. 2. (optional, advanced step) If you have a table saw or band saw, carefully make rip cuts to take off the curved edges of each 2x4, about 1/8 of an inch on each side. Then complete the build as shown. This should lead to a flatter table top. Be sure to sand off any sharp edges of the final table before finishing. Neither of these is a requirement at all. Keep up the good work!
Love all the work you all do, and absolutely love how detailed you are in your tutorials. I'm just curious where it is that you find your materials for each of your projects to meet the price you list on your videos. I've priced around, and can never find materials anywhere close to the prices posted. For example, this says $40, but the least expensive ive been able to find just the 2x4's at is $79
Here in western PA a 2x4 at lowes is $3.29. You can get premium 2x4s at the local lumber yard for 4.19. So at 3.29 plus the cost of the screws the price seems right.
Thanks for following! You can get a 2x4x8 at Home Depot (here in the Minneapolis are for $3.92). Costs will vary based on location and the type of wood (for instance cedar is considerably more expensive.)

I love this video so much! Thanks for posting such well edited and easy to follow along vids. Hey there... when you added your shelf to this project, did you use 2x4's or a wood board? Any pics?
@mzzcookiecook I used 2x4 for the shelf attached to the sides. I also built a rolling 3 sided platform on the floor underneath out of 1x16x68 pine.
