@scania98989 Yeah the Scanias sold in Australia are built totally different on the inside when it comes to Power Options and Cooling Packages. Even the Drivetrain is different, they use both Single and Planetary Hub Reduction differentials which can make a difference if you're transporting 50 or 150 tonnes. You'll see from time to time are the Scania's Planetary Hub Reduction Axles on the R560, R580 and R620, those would be used for oversized/overweight loads.
@scania98989...as for the Australian-Built Stralis, not only do they have to suit towards driver comfort, long distance hauling and quality build, but also higher horsepower engines and tougher chassis to withstand all elements that Australia dishes out on these vehicles 365 days a year. I think you will never find an 8x4 Prime Mover layout with less than a 500hp engine from any diesel engine manufacturer.
@scania98989...oh okay, I taught Volvo got behind the times and didn't offer the D16-660. I think some of the right-hand drive trucks built in Scania Nederland for are specced for Australia and that you'll know by the tandem drive axles and/or twin steer/tandem drive axles.
@scania98989...The European and Australian models are very much alike, on the outside, but it's a totally different machine under it's skin. ALL trucks whether it's built in Europe, Japan, the United States or Locally in Australia HAS to meet or exceed Australian Design Rules standards or ADR for short. The Iveco Stralis AT in Italy and Australia are two different beasts...The Euro Stralis just has a layout in which suits more to long distance hauling/driver comfort and quality build...
@scania98989...Oh no it's quite alright :-) As far as I can remember the Aussie-Built Ivecos have the Cursor 10 (I think) and the Cursor 13. The Australian Cursor 13's are rated at 480, 500/505, 520 (not too sure on the 520 rating), 540 and 560. Volvo Trucks Australia has D16 ratings up to 610, but there could be a possibility for the 660 and 700hp ratings in the near future (or if asked by a customer)...
@scania98989...and as for Scania's truck production in Australia, I think they got their units from Zwolle (NL) because some, most or all of the Scanias running around in NZ got their trucks from Zwolle (factory direct).
@scania98989 that's a pretty low ratio, but it shows that if you're going to transport a 200+ tonne load, a low gear ratio works the best... Where i'm at now (Maui, Hawai'i) all of the trucks locally run either a 13, 15 or 18 speed Roadranger with 3.90 rears, and of course a Cummins ISX or a Caterpillar C-15/C-16.
@kalanike 660 is already two or three years in Australia 610 is only euro 3 I talked with one driver triple road train combinations from Perth who drives fh16 660 and he mentioned to me that he must carry extra ad-blue somewhere under the trailer for supply.... and that i-shift cant shift with such heavy loads ( dolly are with 3axle) so he must shift it manually +/- it was before on Aus scania web that scania offer trucks up to 200tons with hub reduction (for aus) rbp835+rp835
@kalanike Thanks for the detailed response ......Do You know maybe differences between European and Australian iveco trucks? i know that Aus scania dosent have L paket (shell around engine which reduces the noise) probably due to cooling.. has a different position turbo...different intake and exhaust.... but one thing I am interested in rn662+r660 ( single reduction diffs for 6x4 8x4 ) are rated for 130tons down there ...here they are for 78tons....
@kalanike there was scania magazine called drivelines from Aus and there was 200ton rated r580 6x4 from boom logistic and truvk was geared really low (5.14 and direct drive gearbox) but i dont know which is fastest transmision which can pull 200t but they wrote that they need low geared truck .... here scania offer 4.85 with overdrive for 180ton and 5.14 for 192t (Of course hub reduction) or up to 250tons with zf transmatic wsk and i know one with 4.27dif and it is overdrive 0.84
@kalanike iveco here never had such a motor like you have (505 550) there was cursor 13 480 and 540 now they are 500 and 560hp Do you know perhaps why Volvo has not offered fh16 700 in Aus it is out for almost 1.5year and also scania new v8 with 730hp? Do you know when Scania stop truck producion in Australia? I guess it was 1997 with the end of 3 Series? thanks in advance and sorry if I'm boring
I spose if you dont drive a train, you would think that, but when you drive them all day, everyday, reversing becomes just another manouvour, no probs really.
@stralis505 Can you please tell me ...... whether the European trucks capable for Australian conditions ( temperature ,High-speed driving , dust, bad road and high gross weights I ask this because most Kenworth fans do not want to accept anything other .... which is the biggest problem with European trucks? fuel tank capacity? small cabs ( i see this iveco have AT) thanks in advance
