UA-cam is nazis. They don’t want us to learn or know the truth that’s why hey why not help me create a new video sharing platform it will never sell out complete freedom for content makers fuck UA-cam
This contraption was actually developed in the UK, and was one of many devices known as "Hobart's Funnies". Thankfully, other devices which were used in the D day landings, actually proved to be quite effective.
Just some constructive criticism from a big fan, I feel like you often repeat yourself and use the introduction of a weapon or listed item later in the description of it. This can get frustrating as you sometimes use the exact same phrase to describe something in the space of 2 mins. I think you could counteract this by saying the same thing with different words. I don’t want to come across as a hater because as I said I’m a massive fan and really love your channel.
Your voice is so calming, you can (and do) relate some of the worst moments in history but that voice keeps us calm. Happy Christmas and I hope you have a very successful new year!!!
Honestly this channel is the absolute best to fall asleep to. Learning something while simultaneously being whisked away into slumber by a soft and elegant voice. Probably the closest thing to ASMR I’ll ever enjoy.
The Gustav giant cannon is extremely similar to the one featured in the game "Lost Planet 2". Seeing how close each one is, I don't doubt that the rail mounted gun from Lost Planet 2 took inspiration from the Gustav.
My grandfather was in an armored recon in ww2...very dangerous...he told me about the German gun that shot around corners (STG44 Krummlauf) and the German Goliath mini demolition tank.He said you had to watch out for getting shot around corners and he said the mini demotion tanks never worked and one rifle shot disabled them.
Your voice is honestly smoothing and relaxing and that's why I substituted to you; I honestly first saw you on this video and after that I've watched 4 other videos and after that i realized after watching you I've been able to fall asleep better. I have been deployed 3 times and lost a few best friends on my 2nd deployment so I have pretty bad PTSD and have had a terrible time falling asleep. So from me to you, thank you for your service.
I love your videos. Plain speaking, thorough, informative, fascinating topics, no bullshit UA-cam nonsense - "Don't forget to like and subscribe" or "Welcome to a new video, today we are blah, blah, blah". Your content is a supreme example of what UA-cam could be - I suggest it to people who I think might be interested. Is there some way I could support your content creation, similar to patreon or something similar? Looking forward to the next video 👍
Tyler Sane , look up the British comedy program “Dads Army “ one of the episodes featured the big wheel, it showed just how crazy an idea it was, extremely funny program, well worth watching.
Great video, but work on editing down a lot more. You've repeated several points multiple times, often verbatim, and it has drawn out the video significantly. This is easily a 10 minute video if you cut out the repeated information. Otherwise, solid work!
lets give it a try before watching: Okha-suicide rocket plane, Dora/Gustav railguns, serb-cutter-wrist knife, Ho-229 flying wing & Heinkel Lerche-VTOL-plane.
One of the biggest misconceptions of WWII is that Maginot line didn't work. It did mostly as designed. The fact that the Germans went around was part of the plan. It funneled them mostly to the north into Belgium and Luxembourg. The French and the British were just caught with their pants down and lost any initiative it provided.
"Towards the end of the war, scientists at an institute in Dachau conducted research into how malaria-infected insects could be kept alive for long enough to be released into enemy territory."
Another problem with the German railway guns not mentioned in this video is that the barrels of these guns experienced significant wear due to the enormous forces they had to endure. Gustav's barrel needed replacement after firing less than 50 rounds in combat, although it must be acknowledged that considerable stress had been placed on the gun during tests and training prior to deployment. Additionally, the guns could only be deployed in areas where the Germans had achieved air superiority.
25:00 it was mainly the cost in losing one. Aircraft carriers are very vulnerable to submarines and so any aircraft carrier would need a large escort to protect it. This would require even more resources and the British navy was already stretched thin.
I agree with the constructive criticism given prior, you repeat yourself in this one SO MUCH. You will explain what the weapon does or how it was used about 3 times on every one.
Sound idea behind project Habakuk? Pike was mad as a hatter, firing his gun in a room at his "pykrete" where the ricochet nearly missed one of the attending generals. (If you're gonna shoot generals, at least do it on purpose) And when Churchill was told of the delays in the project he said something along the lines; "How hard is it to just round up an ice sheet and place guns on it?"
Here you go : No.1 : Going into a long drawn war against 3 superpowers, without havig proper resources or industrial capability, nor adequate men power.
The Krummlauf must be really inaccurate to shoot. You have a bended rifle barrel spewing out powerful Mauser Rounds at the rate of 550 per minute. Just the thought of that is uncontrollable!
It's written Krummlauf and it wasn't created to be accurate but to be safe for the user because if you shoot someone really close to you accuracy doesn't really matter
Great Gustav seems like something out of Warhammer 40 000. It would totally fit into the setting, which is already full of city-sized artillery pieces and tanks as wide as a 4-lane highway.
The modern corner weapons seem to have their own lower receiver at the bend eliminating the need for the bent barrel making it actually viable...such simple solution today with more modern manufacturing.
I think the Nazis moving into France through the Ardennes was the key to their success, the French were tactically and psychologically defeated by the time the Wermacht crossed through Belgium. Kind of important, but hey, what do I know?
it isn't that he tells you about the thing at the start of the video then a minute or two later he repeats it again i thought i was going mad. but no your right his videos are a good listen of information
That number one sounded a bit unfair Jeffery pike took credit for the invention the lads in new York came up with.... I guess it was justice served that the invention never "took off" excuse the pun😁
Bruh imagine having your platoon's captain have you send out the wall exploders, you do as you were commanded and it gets about 30 yards out then turns around
can you please do a post on brothels?....also... weatherman underground and other radical accomplishments..like the FBI office break in..timothy Leary's breakout. .. or any successful prison breaks...
the krummlauf was developed to help the crews of the two most useless tanks of all time: the porsche tiger and the maus (yes the maus was crap too (it was practicaly a enlarged porsche tiger)). and the u-boats where more under pressure due to the development of plane based radar, active sonar (the pingi thingy from the movies) and communication encription by the allies (look at the tech on board of a type XXI u-boat for this information (ok the type XXI still used the now useless enigma but the defense of this subs was crazy)).
