    I always struggle with motivation in the winter months, too. The darkness outside just makes me want to curl up in a blanket and be lazy. This video has given me hope, thank you xx

      I just want to add that there's nothing bad about how you feel now, this is how nature works :). Fall and winter are seasons when everything slows down~😌 I don't encourage you to stay on your bed all day :D, but I think it's okay to not rush and rest a bit more during this time of a year😊

    As someone who wakes up every day at 5 am (since August), I enjoyed this! I didn't struggle with waking up but more with letting myself sleep earlier and stopped doing so many tasks right before sleeping which means I sleep at 9-10 pm and feel great the day after!
    The most important is to have your hours of sleep
    Being frustrated and crying because of it is such a normal and healthy thing (which happens to me and lots of humans too I bet), I'm glad you let it go and had a new mindset after sleeping! Btw you and jake are so so beautiful!
    Sending you lots of love and warmth ! 💜

    I started doing it a month ago and tbh I’ve been happier and more productive 💕 it just feels good to wake up before everyone does and having your own little moment to enjoy reading or drinking your coffee in peace. My tip is to go to bed early and when you wake up in the morning dont go hard on yourself have a slow morning routine💓
    once you taste that beautiful feeling it’s at the moment this becomes your routine 🙈

    glad you got into reading as a hobby i love it too!! i was a bookworm as a child and teen but then thankfully rediscovered it - getting a kindle (to read even more books cause there is only so much space) as an addition and tracking my books and 'want to read' books on goodreads also really helped me.

    I'm naturally an early riser. Even when I go to bed late I will still open my eyes at 5 AM on the dot. It's just my body. I've learned to really appreciate it because it served as a way to claim my day as mine before any emails or phone calls. I meet my needs first before I meet anyone else's. In Seoul I used to walk at Han river around that time but now in new city, I do creative journaling and have some tea.

    I am so so pleased I got to see you in your wedding hanbok, you look exquisite Sissel, really beautiful - and Jake looks alright too 😂🤷‍♂️
    I’m an early riser, as a registered nurse, when I’m working, I have to be at work at 6.30am, so you kinda get used to getting up between 4-5am, and I love being awake when most of the world is still sleeping, physically it makes me feel good and energised, plus I love a good sunrise 🤗💜💜 Enjoy your new schedule

    This video came PERFECTLY! I finished my uni classes last week (finished them like forever) and now I’m like “wow, what happens after this?” - I’m a design student so my schedule for the past 5 years has been a MESS, sleeping late, having to wake up early to finish stuff, having absolutely no free or social time. Now that I’m out I want to build new habits so this really got me motivated. So excited for this new chapter 🥰 and yup I want the habit of sleeping early and waking up at 5am to have a relaxing morning, let’s see how that goes!

    Hmm this might be a challenging thought for some, but humans are also animals and many animals hibernate during the winter. Trees wither and lose their leaves right after turning beautiful bright crimson and yellow. They enter a period of "restful work" into themselves until the seasons change and they birth new leaves and the cycle begins again. This capitalistic rhythm of constant productivity and sense of accomplishment that is directly tied to the output of "work" from my perspective is damaging to our health and to the planets health. No one would even consider calling a bear hibernating during winter as an lazy act. Humans who are also a part of nature have different rhythms just like the seasons do. I hope that we can challenge these narratives of productivity, accomplishment and bring about newer more regenerative ideas. Resting, reading which is such an important skill to develop in helping us cultivate even bigger and wilder imaginations of what's possible, moving more slowly (even as it feels very challenging to do so when we are so programmed to move fast) is important work and accomplishment through my eyes. Winter asks us to be reflexive, to go inward and that's a gift to us, let us not resist that even if we feel that we are doing it wrong as our cultures have taught us.

So I will follow your steps by writing down things I need to do and to try to get enough sleep while trying to get up a little earlier to get back to my hobbies and work that I neglected ... thank you for this video and I wish to meet you in person one day while I am here in korea ❤❤❤❤ lots of love

    I never comment...but as i was rewatching this I wanted to let you know one tip ive found (coming from a night owl) is my bodys sleep schedule naturally allows me to wakeup around 5:30 easily...much easier than 6am,7am,8am, ect...so sometimes figuring out your bodys natural sleep cycle can show you the time when you might have an easier time waking up! I've also found morning workout classes kind of forces me to get up on the particularly hard days!

    I wake up on my own around 4am and my alarm goes off at 5am. This has been going on for around ten years. I consider it sleeping in if I wake up at 6am. lol 😂 I have always been a morning person but as I get older it is even more so. I love getting up and having quiet time before the rest of the house gets up.

    If you want to get up early, you *have to* go to bed early, too. It might feel 'stupid' to say you want to go to bed at 8/9 pm, but there's no way around it if you want to get up early. Additionally, I'd say that if you don't have to wake up at 5 am, there's no need to really. My inner rhythm is sort of seasonal 😅 in summer I wake up very early naturally, but in winter it's a struggle to get up as it is still dark outside. Adjust your sleeping with your work schedule and season if you can. 😊

      now that its winter (for most of us) and dark going to bed early or atleast trying it starting now is so much easier! cannot imagine starting this in the summer, especially in europe where its dark like 10;30 pm during the summer.

    • @sisselab
      @sisselab  7 місяців тому +1

      Yess absolutely ! That’s why I think that if I do it for longer it’ll be easier to sleep at 10 since my inner rhythm will adjust. I’m excited to keep trying! 💚

    I am a morning bird & love so much to wake up with the sun, birds, and the rest of the world. Consistency is key! Start with a time you are comfortable with and stick to it every day until it becomes a habit. Also, in regards to productivity, I think it’s super important to find your time of day in which you are most productive. This is different for everyone! For me, I am most productive in the morning so I save all my difficult tasks and do them first thing in the morning when I am most productive. Then I take care of the easier items throughout the rest of the day when I know I will be feeling less motivated/productive. Listening to my body in this way helps with feeling guilty too. I don’t feel bad for doing easy tasks or feeling lazy at the end of the day because I know I accomplished some hard tasks earlier on in my day. ❤

    Have been getting up between 4 and 5 am during the week the last 6 years either to be at the office early or to workout before work. I really don't think I have gotten any more productive - possibly because I'm not disciplined enough to go to bed early enough to get in more than 7 hours of sleep. I also wake up without an alarm at 6 am during weekends which is kind of annoying😅

    I really should get back into reading. I used to be a huge bookworm as a child but now, embarrassingly, I don't read at all. My mom's been on my back about this cause I have a kindle and she asked me why don't I spend my money on books 😝 I actually used to wake up at 5am when I lived in Hong Kong. I wanted to exercise during my working week but it was quite difficult to schedule it in after work when I had to do food shopping and cooking as well. This meant, that the only time I could fit it in was early morning. It worked out quite well as I was also making my own lunches to take to work. I could get the rice cooked and cooled while I do my morning run and get ready for work so I just have to pack my lunchbox before heading out. I didn't do this during the weekend (I was sleeping at 12-1am all the time so I did need to catch up on sleep) and I did a different form of exercise but I got used to it. My mom asks me why I don't do this habit anymore cause she thinks it is so good. I guess I'm just too comfortable at home in UK where I don't have to take care of so many things 😅

      I’m glad you have your mom to question why you aren’t doing what previously brought you joy, it’s so healthy to have a person like this in your life. She sounds like a gem 💚 wish you best of luck on everything! And if you wanna get back into reading I recommend A Court Of Thorns And Roses heheheheeheh

    Since I still live at home with parents who work in jobs where they have different shifts every couple of days, starting the day earlier than needed is not the very best idea😅
    Buut I do see so many benefits from having a nice morning for oneself and will try that once I move out soon!
    My best friend wakes up around 4 am each day (she starts work around 6:30 by choice, she doesn't need to, normal starting time is 8 am) but she gets out of work earlier and could have more time during the afternoon. In her case its mostly of no use, since she goes to bed very early (obviously).
    We even had a convo a couple of weeks ago, where she was grocery shopping on Saturday around noon and wondered why all the parents with children go shopping then and how full the store was, because her family never took them grocery shopping at an early age and if they did, the whole family are early birds so they went right when the shops would open😅 And noo, the kids weren't the first to wake up in that family! I needed to tell her, that her family is an exception with being such early birds, especially on the weekends😭😭

      Wowww that sooo interesting ! Honestly, my mom is the exact same ! Even with 8 hours of time difference between Korea and Denmark she only wakes up a little after me HAHA, she’s always up at 4 am 🤣💚

    Thank you for this video!
    I've been feeling really disappointed with myself the past weeks. I'm working on the side but I have fallen behind in my studies, I haven't worked out last week, been feeling really sluggish and tired and cannot deal with the ongoing darkness and winter. I'm holding on for dear life not to slip into a winter depressive mood but it's not working so well... it was so good to hear that you are also working back up the trust in yourself. I think it's good that you took time to rest, since burnout is really debilitating and you deserve to rest. I feel like I need to strengthen the trust within myself, I've disappointed myself too many times the past weeks.
    I think what would be really cool are tips to get through the winter. It would be so cozy to watch!

    I love that you have started reading fantasy novels!!!!! It would be so fun if you could do a podcast bookclub with Sarah from 2hearts1Seoul on her, or on a new bookchannel, which the two of you could host. Now that the two of you have met that might be a fun idea, no? Honestly these current fantasy books and ACOTAR included are not really that spicy at all. I started reading spicy fantasy about 11 years ago when Felicia day hosted her ‘Vaginal Fantasy‘ hangout bookclub on UA-cam. And the 80-120 books discussed during the run of that bookclub were from around that time (or literary history) and mostly a LOT more exciting! I really recommend the Hundred Thousand Kingdom trilogy by N.K.Jemisin. But I also recommend getting early editions with the original covers, cause the current covers give a very misleading Islam vibe, which absolutely has nothing to do with the contents of the story.

    • @sisselab
      @sisselab  7 місяців тому

      Well, my work in general changed when I moved to Korea. I went full time on social media, where before I moved to Korea I worked a full time job while also doing UA-cam. So my scope of work changed and it was hard to suddenly change into having to make sure I was working and make sure I continued to grow. My performance on social media is directly tied to the amount of work and effort I put in so the pressure is higher here. I enjoy it though! 💚
