Hi Sissel, I wanted to recommend a book to you again. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. It's historical fiction in Scotland, with romance and time travel. The series is pretty long but the first few books just focus on the main couple and their story which was enough for me. There's also a great tv show adaptation with a great choice of actors in it ^^

Outlander is LEGIT! Plus, the author is an academic herself and heavily researched and reached out to experts to get be as accurate as possible. Even how the Quakers would have actually spoken ❤

The once upon a broken heart series broke my heart 😭😭 I’m sure this has been mentioned heaps of times but a kindle might be good alternative to getting books from amazon and is way cheaper in the long run (I know paperbacks are special) but having a kindle has changed my life 🩷📚🩷
I knowwwww yes one day I’ll definitely consider a kindle ! for now I just loooove the feeling of a physical book though, but it’s probably better with a kindle for multiple reasons haha 💚

I recommend reading assassin’s blade when you’re done! You don’t need the read it beforehand to get a real grasp! I’m so excited you’re a book girly now! All great choices btw I absolutely LOVE the throne of glass series ❤

I would definitely read Assassin's Blade after Heir of Fire! It's the best place in the storyline for the plot of the book to grip you and make the most emotional impact! x x

Hi Sisselll, yyou just inspired me to get into fantasy books!I usually read japanese books cause I love the style of writing, always makes me feel so light and happy. The ones I read are totally different then the ones you are reading but i would still like to reccomend you some! They are not smutty at all so that might put you off a bit haha, but here are two of my favourites : "Lonely castle in the mirror"- Mizuki Tsujimura( honestly so wholesome, talks about loneliness and bullying, it reminds you how life feels as a teenage kid)), "She and Her cat"-Makoto Shinkai and Naruki Nagakawa( This book is so simple but it helped me so much during depressive episodes, love, just makes you see life in a simple, easy, beautiful way). I definitely reccomed giving them a try, but I understand that they are not everyones up of tea :). Love your videos, I watch them pretty much every morning with my matcha or coffe and you always make me feel ready for the day ahead, no matter how hard it may seem, thank you Sissel!

You’re going to LOVE the Throne of Glass series - I originally read them as the books were published and then I re-read them about a year ago and they’re just fab. Honestly start reading them in whatever order you’d like, you don’t need to read the Assassin’s Blade first at all (I didn’t, I read it third since it came out after the first two books) but if you want some of the main character’s backstory then definitely feel free to start there!! Although I did love going into it knowing nothing and learning it along the way. Enjoy!! 😇😇

@@doodlesbydannie Throne of Glass is the first book in the main series, however the Assassin’s Blade is a prequel to the series that you could choose to read before Throne of Glass if you wanted ☺️
@@justynastanley I really loved them, so I would definitely recommend, especially if fantasy is your sort of genre, although if you’re looking to explore the genre I also think Throne of Glass is a fab place to start. The books essentially follow an assassin called Celaena Sardothien and tell her story - I don’t want to give too much away, maybe read the blurb of the first book and see if it takes your fancy ☺️

Definitely push through the first 2 books and keep your faith in po]romite it’s worth it 😅and I definitely recommend assassins blades after Heir of Fire and if you can manage it really really recommend reading Empire of Storms at the same time as Tower of Dawn! They just work better together and since they’re happening at the same time the plot of the series just flows better. There’s guides online for which chapters to read and when if you do decide to do that!
Oh I’ve seen that super confusing document that shows how to read those two ! Hahaha 💚 I’ll definitely attempt the tandem read, sounds so fun!
I was trying to figure out which order to read the throne of glass books as well… I’m currently reading assassins blade and I’ve just read them in publishing order which I’m really enjoying! I feel like it wouldn’t hit as hard if I read assassins blade first and it just makes much more sense this way ✨

yeh i had haunting adeline, but i just stopped reading it after 3/4 chapters. Its not really up my alley tbh. But i could give them to a friend that's more into the genre. So all good. And to each their own ofcourse. I'm more into the true romance books i suppose 😅. Great video as always Sissel. absolutely love the vibes.
If you need more fantasy books to read I highly recommend the Bonded by Thorns series. It's a retelling of beauty and the beast but spicier lol and the newest book in the series comes out this month!

omgggg love that we're kind of witnessing your booktube era lmao. I would love to see your thoughts as you go through Throne of Glass. You might've started already by the time you uploaded the video, but I read The Assasin's Blade 3rd and I loved it. Either way you read it you're going to understand the story and love it. I'm a little hesitant about reading it first bc it consists of just three short stories so it doesn't move along as a normal book would or you don't get to know Celaena the same way. 3rd was perfect for me bc you finally understand how everything happened with some events of her past and it's a great transition from how the story is in the first two to the bigger scope and tone change from Heir of Fire and onwards.

You’ll definitely love Fourth Wing (and Violet more than Evangeline for sure, even though Evangeline grew on me on the second one can’t wait to start the third one), I’m reading the second one Iron Flame and loving it!! I have 200 pages more and scare of what can happen 😅 ( with Iron Flame I’ve seen some “bad” comments specially concerning the writing, but Spanish is my main language and I didn’t find the writing weird or hard nor confusing) happy readings! ☺️

for your book journey, i would recommend the cruel prince if you haven't read already. features a main female character that really grows to a smart and badass character. i thought the beginning of the first book was a bit slow but it was so worth it nearing the end. the other two books in the trilogy of amazing, as well. and lol we've all been there getting tricked by booktok about some of those dark "romances" 😭

Have you tried reading any of Ali Hazelwood's books? They're not fantasy but very popular romance books. I used to be more of a fantasy fan but hazelwood was sort of a bridge for me into the "contemporary" world.
If you want a recommendation of a more "mild" dark romance novel, mild as in not as problematic and traumatic, i would recommend the invisible life of addie larue. It's a slow start (imo) but once you get over the uphill in the beginning it gets much better!

Read Assassins' blade 4th!!!!!! I just read is and just started Queen of Shadows - literally on chapter 30 - and it makes so much sense because there are so many things mentioned in QoS that are mentioned in AB. WHen i started AB i was like "Why tf didn't I read this first" but just just TRUST and read it fourth!!
Highly recommend the Fourth Wing. Currently reading Iron Flame. I enjoyed it much more than ACTOR.

For a dark romance fantasy book I'd recommend the plated prisener series by raven kennedy. it's a slow burn but really worth it :) the first book is the hardest to finish but after that they are quite addictive and fast pace.
Maybe Sahra, Cari and you could to a book club in the future like 3 times a year or something where each picks a book and then you have like a live video to talk about it. That would be fun!

I have read assassins blade first and loved it !!!! I would recommend it but I don’t think there is wrong way so don’t worry to much about it🤷🏼♀️💕 and about hounting adaline I think it gets recommended to easily I read a lot of dark romance like a lot and even I was uncomfortable! it’s definitely not something for the average reader it scares me a bit how people recommend it so much!
I think I’m slowly being convinced to read it first yeah! 💚 with HA I have to keep reminding myself that it’s fiction and then I can enjoy the horror aspect of the story line actually, but wow it took some moments of shock and pure disgust to be able to do that. Not sure how morally correct it is to recommend it but still we have to remember it’s fiction and none of it is actually romantic. Yeah idk this book confuses me hahahaha 💚

Hi Sissel ! I love seeing you talk so much about books lately in your vlogs, as a book lover myself haha 🥰 I have a recommendation, you should definitely read The Poppy War by Rebecca F. Kuang. It's absolutely amazing, the best book I've ever read in my life (actually my very first fantasy book) I finished it in 3 days and couldn't stop. It deals with magic, shaman, gods, war, an academy. The main character is a "poor" girl who goes to the best academy of the empire to become a warrior. And things take a turn when she discovers that gods still exist and that she has special powers herself. It is SO SO unique, the writing style is mesmerising, so detailed. And the story is directly inspired by history between China and Japan. In the first book, there is no romance (unfortunately). However, you can feel some kind of tension/attraction throughout the book which just leaves you craving. I loved it ! Right now I'm going for the two sequels 😍 (apparently romance is in the air in the second sequel).

I read the Once Upon a Broken Heart series before Caraval and honestly I don't regret it because I probably wouldn't have stuck with reading Caraval if it wasn't for Once Upon a Broken Heart. Obv some things will be spoiled if you intend to still read Caraval afterwards but I personally didn't mind it - rather it made me more curious
Also.. A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire was a dnf for me (especially when I read the spoiler about the 4th book). I felt it was a hornier version of The Tainted Accords series which has a very similar concept - but much more compelling - of a main lead who has worn a veil for all her life. It is to-date one of my favourite series especially due to the main character's development throughout the series.

I would not recommend reading Assassin's Blade first. It is a prequel, but it makes more sense if you read it in the order of the release :) But you will love the badass heroine!
