As a silent film fan, I went often after I moved to Portland from Los Angeles in 1993. Please include the FACT that the organ played while silent films were shown! I absolutely loved that. It exposed many to the charm of silent cinema and brilliant organ accompaniment!! I blog every week on The Silent Film Group on Facebook for many years celebrating the great stars from the teens through the 1920’s and would love to share what you’re involved with our members!! My weekly post is Antonio Moreno Monday, and my name is Cheryl Monteiro! Love knowing about this project and grateful you’ll be putting the lovely Organ Grinder back on the map once again!! 🎉❤

Hello! Thank you for your interest. Yes, the fact that the Organ Grinder featured silent films will definitely be included. One of the interview subjects, who you can see in the trailer, is Nathan Avakian. Nathan was a young Organ Grinder fan who is now a theatre organist and film composer. For a number of years, he scored pieces for the International Youth Silent Film Festival, which we also covered for the documentary. (Unfortunately the IYSFF just celebrated its concluding year. Perhaps someone else will do something similar in the future.) I hope you can spread the word about this project to your followers. Thanks again.

thank you for this documentary. I would love a copy of this when its available. The reason why i am AS involved in the organizations in Detroit, being a Windsor resident and Canadian, is because of this Portland location that i never got to see. Particularly Jonas Nordwalls recordings. I grew up around on of the most unique Wurlitzers the Fisher/Senate in Detroit. I now after 30+ years of being involved help maintain and take care of that instrument. Growing up listening to that large Wurlitzer in a small theater, and then being at home listening to the organ grinder.. had the same type of atmosphere. I only wish i could have experienced this place. I now clammer to every single recording video and image that surfaces. I have watched the trailer and looks to be a fantastic documentary and im looking forward to hearing Dennis's side. His creation was so well balanced and the recordings were sooooo good. I use them to this day to demonstrate other peoples so call sound systems. Thanks for this.

Hello - thank you very much for the compliments. In addition to the main film, I plan on releasing extended interviews and bonus features for us "organ nerds" out there who crave more technical info and historical tidbits. I hope you will consider contributing to the project at Indiegogo - every bit helps.
