It’s my favorite strawberry variety. Taste and production are top notch. However you must wait a bit longer after they turn red for best flavor. They say they can take the heat but here in zone 9 Texas they die ever year. So I buy crowns early in January place them under a large grow light then place them outside when it warms up. My tristars on the other hand take the heat and drought like a champ but don’t have the same strawberry flavor as the seascapes. Both are heavy producers

Thanks for your video. Does breeding technology imply genetic engineering? Or are they two different concepts?

    • @OverdevestNurseries

Thanks for asking. They are two completely different things, all breeding technology means is that the process of making crosses between two variety parental varieties is undertaken using the advantages of modern computer controlled environments, and equipment to monitor the hybridization process and ensure the optimum growing conditions of the condition of the plants during the breeding process. Controlling temperatures, lighting (daylength), watering etc. and high tech. microscopes etc. means that instead of the old traditional (fingers crossed) practice of transferring pollen with a camel hair brush and hoping for the best, the plant breeder is able to use this equipment and facilities to make crosses with a much higher rate of success and achievement.

As we understand it, it is a selected clone and therefore will not come true from seed. Also, we only produce live plants (like those featured in the video).
