    Does this guitar have a Auto-Tune feature that automatically re-tunes the D G & B strings when they go out of tune every 5 minutes?

      I think if it's still on the key you're tuned to, not matter what if you engage the tuner and open strum then those out of tune strings snap back to tune

    I bought one of these when they came out, it developed a fault with the mck within a few days. I returned it to Gibson, waited a couple of months and when it came back it had a fault with the pickup selector, I.e. It was no longer possible to select the neck pickup. It spent the next few years sat in the case doing nothing. This year I had an independent luthier remove the robot tuning and related electrics, tuners, bridge and saddle etc. and replace them with standard electrics etc. The only bits that stayed were the pickups and jack. It is now an ordinary guitar and is incredible to play, sounds great too! If you are new to robot tuners be warned... even when they are working the fact there is a small motor attached to each tuner makes it very clumsy to manually tweak a single string mid song. The tuner feels like it lurches, I.e. it's difficult to move at first but once moving it's too quick.

    @BenTomSamvideos I've had mine for over 2 years now, and nothing has gone wrong. (Except the little dilema I had not long after I got it, one of the strap locks didn't lock in place properly, and popped out as I was putting the guitar over my head, foolishly not holding the neck just the strap, and it fell hit the ground chipped the head and cracked the neck all was fixed though) They are great guitars.

    I play a lot of Soundgarden, Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age, this would be excellent for me!
    I wonder how one gauge of strings copes with string floppiness when tuning from E down to C as I have to change from 46 to 53 to prevent that?

  • @BenTomSamvideos

    all very impressive and certainly useful technology, but all seems a little over complicated... just more things to go wrong? Robot les paul vs a junior with a single p90? give me the junior anyday, one of the simplest guitars out there yet in my view one of the best.

    • @ChrisTopheRaz
      @ChrisTopheRaz Рік тому

      I think the innovation is forward thinking and smart of Gibson to do. Parker guitars had a forward thinking mind set when developing the parker fly series. People made fun of that and some people still do but the fact of the matter is that they are highly sought after instruments to this day and musicians such as Trent Reznor have used them in session because of how amazing they were (I owned a 99 Parker fly deluxe and it was by far the most incredible instrument I have ever played). I think that technology advancements need to bring the “robot,“ into 2022 with better technology and drop the name robot because it’s absolutely ridiculous the way it sounds. I’m a purist in many ways, I love analog in many ways, but I cannot disagree with the functionality and use the system could have for some people who can’t afford to buy 15 guitars, for 15 different sound options. I can’t disagree that changing your tuning that quickly, would inspire people to write stuff in different keys and unusual tunings more often. As humans we are commonly known to utilize convenience and if you’re going to use a tuner to make sure your guitar is in tune while you manually turn the machine heads, then why not desire a complete tuning in seconds that is perfect? I know how to tune a guitar, and very well so using harmonics; but I see this is as very convenient and it would inspire me to consistently change tunings and write more unique sounding music. I’m really ashamed of most guitars who down this guitar. I often fight against meaningless technology, but this is some😅thing that makes no sense to be against. I just think it needs a dramatic update and a name change.

    I have one myself, and I have to be honest this review only touches the surface. Sure some settings are ugg...but you can alter pretty much everything.
    With a bit of work it can sound like a 30's electric acoustic, or an EPS crunched up Metal monster...and everything in between. If you play a range of styles its incredbily useful to have the tuning/tone changing options. But if you are a single genre player its probably not for you. Also remember the amp makes a difference to tone too.

    I saw one of these for sale years ago and thought you would have to strip all the tech out to have a reasonable player.
    But forgot the name and just found it again.
    The auto tune thing is a no go. It won't last. I had a 2015 with it and it was fragile and unreliable. Removed it , put the proper tuners on then put the robo tune on an acoustic which lasted for a year or so then just stopped ( didn't even change tunings just kept it EADGBE ).
