I own one and I absolutely love it. It is the most incredible guitar I have ever owned.
This vid is my childhood right here, growing up learning/playing guitar and getting the latest issue of guitarist magazine
How am I here again... holy sh...I remember watching this 8 years ago :o
Does this guitar have a Auto-Tune feature that automatically re-tunes the D G & B strings when they go out of tune every 5 minutes?
I think if it's still on the key you're tuned to, not matter what if you engage the tuner and open strum then those out of tune strings snap back to tune
I bought one of these when they came out, it developed a fault with the mck within a few days. I returned it to Gibson, waited a couple of months and when it came back it had a fault with the pickup selector, I.e. It was no longer possible to select the neck pickup. It spent the next few years sat in the case doing nothing. This year I had an independent luthier remove the robot tuning and related electrics, tuners, bridge and saddle etc. and replace them with standard electrics etc. The only bits that stayed were the pickups and jack. It is now an ordinary guitar and is incredible to play, sounds great too! If you are new to robot tuners be warned... even when they are working the fact there is a small motor attached to each tuner makes it very clumsy to manually tweak a single string mid song. The tuner feels like it lurches, I.e. it's difficult to move at first but once moving it's too quick.
I assume you also like shiny things and LED lights that flash different colors.
@@johnnyk.2911 Not anymore…
@BenTomSamvideos I've had mine for over 2 years now, and nothing has gone wrong. (Except the little dilema I had not long after I got it, one of the strap locks didn't lock in place properly, and popped out as I was putting the guitar over my head, foolishly not holding the neck just the strap, and it fell hit the ground chipped the head and cracked the neck all was fixed though) They are great guitars.
i play one of these and i was amazed at its sound but i am still a fender fan boy
Yeah sure.. Whatever
Great guitar!! Real innovation!
My dream guitar!:]
« The most advanced guitar of all time »And then, Strandberg and Aristides came to life
It sounds great!
you're rapin rock and killin roll
it´s the record.
The guitar sounds awesome!
It is ingenious, it incredibly coolly, I love Gibson. I Love Rock.
I play a lot of Soundgarden, Kyuss and Queens of the Stone Age, this would be excellent for me!
I wonder how one gauge of strings copes with string floppiness when tuning from E down to C as I have to change from 46 to 53 to prevent that?
such a beautiful I think, can you tell me which amp your using please?
Question :
What did he play at first ?
The song around 2:20 to 2:35 ?
I want one of these!!!!!!!!! \m/
Anybody know what song he's playing when he goes into double drop D at 3:23 ?
This is the only Gibson robot guitar of the series that i would buy.
amazing...
Now I would buy this. That damned Firebird X on the other hand...
Wonder if it will wind the strings automatically when restringing 🤔🤔🤔🤔😁😁
The bridge pickup sounds alright, but you should have switched to the neck along with the piezo. I was hoping you'd at least play some sounds with the piezo pickup.
what gauge strings does this thing have?
@GregoryJohnsonJr i see were you are coming from but it is handy if you want to just plauy and not waste your time tuning its also handy if you re string your guitar
phil x should totally demo this too
12-56 strings would be good, but due to different tensions, the intonation may not be perfect in all the tunings and the string action along with the neck bow will change
is this guitar worth the 2000 $? im planing on buying one but all these comments got me thinking,,, is gibson a good brand for guitars? do they last long?
@ButlerAVFC i tottaly agree ! , gibson without inlays does not exists ..... ;)
@BLStribute same, the others are 'cool' guitars but they lack beauty and the elegance of the original les paul or sg. good opinion sir
Ive been into guitars for 30 years and are barley learning about this ! WTF 😱😱😱😱
@darkfire959 fair enough, sounds better than i thought! still, theres just the small matter of price ;)
Anyone know how much in Australia?
which magazine was this is?
this is awsome
Gotta wonder just how fast these robo guitars go through strings.
how much does this cost?
You'd need a computer system to get perfect tuning on a bloody Les Paul. Why must the G String be so dodgy on everyone I pick up?
Sweet
Muito shooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
couldn't agree more..
so how much am i expected to pay for something i can do for free?
whats next a non buzzing guitar from gibson or fender
@AnOddMusician i think it sounds alright, a little buzzy, but all new guitar are a little buzzy at first...
@mstuff101 and it would cool to play a jazz sound without buying a line 6 or petal
@AnOddMusician i bet it's because of the amp
Isn't that just a result of the amp he's playing through?
@NickGuitarMalfara13 It actually is just 2.500$. Probably more than 1.500$ for the robot-things...
Woowwoo..! this very2 cool guitar.., :D
id just end up saying to the guitar "well, you dont really need me here, do you? want me to just leave you to it?"
if i could get those strings for my guitar....
@lumpfish99 Many professionals have guitar technicians, who clean and tune their guitars
@GregoryJohnsonJr ummm I know how to tune my guitar by ear and i know if i was in a band playing shows like my friends are that i would want a guitar like this so I wouldn't have to keep swapping to play songs in a different tune. so no...you're statement is in accurate
Aquí, viendo guitarras 🎸 que en la vida me compraré 😢
it has inlays
@pastorkev777 Call me lazy but when I play gigs with john mayer, and other artists I like to be in tune so thousands of people don't cringe when they hear an E flat instead of E note. Sorry but I have to give this guitar three thumbs up.
Well I thought it sounded good, but be aware that the tuners self-destruct after a while - the gears strip.
@AnOddMusician This vid doesn't do the guitar justice, it sounds like he's playing through a 10w amp with volume on full blast. Haha I have one, and play through a fender frontman 212 combo, sounds amazing.
beautiful 1:25
dayum!!! this guy knows his shit XD
The guitar is beautiful but they have a little bit to go before al the flaws are worked out
@BenTomSamvideos Hahaha touché XD
the innovation is really great, but for me the tone sounds like a guitar-toy :)
สุดยอดๆๆๆๆ
it sounds really muddy.....does this guitar really sound this muddy or is it just the amp?
Just like the Gibson Robot
It's funny to see how not mainstream this guitar, the Dusk Tiger, and basically any of the robot models were at the time. And now every Gibson comes standard with an automatic tuning system. Lol.
What? I have not seen any Gibsons with Robo tuners since these. I like Robert tuners but I can’t agree with that statement
all very impressive and certainly useful technology, but all seems a little over complicated... just more things to go wrong? Robot les paul vs a junior with a single p90? give me the junior anyday, one of the simplest guitars out there yet in my view one of the best.
I think the innovation is forward thinking and smart of Gibson to do. Parker guitars had a forward thinking mind set when developing the parker fly series. People made fun of that and some people still do but the fact of the matter is that they are highly sought after instruments to this day and musicians such as Trent Reznor have used them in session because of how amazing they were (I owned a 99 Parker fly deluxe and it was by far the most incredible instrument I have ever played). I think that technology advancements need to bring the “robot,“ into 2022 with better technology and drop the name robot because it’s absolutely ridiculous the way it sounds. I’m a purist in many ways, I love analog in many ways, but I cannot disagree with the functionality and use the system could have for some people who can’t afford to buy 15 guitars, for 15 different sound options. I can’t disagree that changing your tuning that quickly, would inspire people to write stuff in different keys and unusual tunings more often. As humans we are commonly known to utilize convenience and if you’re going to use a tuner to make sure your guitar is in tune while you manually turn the machine heads, then why not desire a complete tuning in seconds that is perfect? I know how to tune a guitar, and very well so using harmonics; but I see this is as very convenient and it would inspire me to consistently change tunings and write more unique sounding music. I’m really ashamed of most guitars who down this guitar. I often fight against meaningless technology, but this is some😅thing that makes no sense to be against. I just think it needs a dramatic update and a name change.
@robert19962010 There are inlays haha , Look closely!!!
i got this for $1,800, AMAZING all of you haters are just annoying... sounds great plays great and looks sexy.
One of the greatest instrumental music of human can invented
IMO it doesn't compare to the Tyler Variax, that thing won't break two sets of strings per show!
@lumpfish99 Dumbing down? this is one of their most advanced pieces of machinery! What do you think professionals do with their guitars They get others to tune the guitar for them. Knob
Una guitarra debe ser analógica. Cuanta mas electrónica activa, mas averías posibles. El mueble es muy chulo!
"sounds okay too"
I really hope that this isn't the future of guitars...I like having different guitars for different sounds!
Not all people have that kind of money.
the tones are not convincing enough to make me want to purchase one of these. The new Variax totally kills this.
USE THE OTHER PICKUPS FOR GOODNESS SAKE!
Well it's nice looking i'll at leadt givr it that
unless it has a built in string thickener and/or a length adjustable neck it's no use in a live setup because you'll never have your guitar intonation set-up right.... in my oppinion.... just a lotta flash...
lmfao 1:06-1:07 xD
Thumbs up if you want Lazer Strings!
holy fuck ive never seen those tuners in action.. goddamn! but carbon fiber?? really??? lmao!
Versatile guitar but really expensive.
I have one myself, and I have to be honest this review only touches the surface. Sure some settings are ugg...but you can alter pretty much everything.
With a bit of work it can sound like a 30's electric acoustic, or an EPS crunched up Metal monster...and everything in between. If you play a range of styles its incredbily useful to have the tuning/tone changing options. But if you are a single genre player its probably not for you. Also remember the amp makes a difference to tone too.
Something wonderful about Gibsons and Fenders is that they are timeless classics that would fit any era. This guitar is fucked up, man. Don't screw with the basics!
it doesn't sound like a gibson
I own one and I want my money back. The tuning heads go backwards. Great if I want to tune down...but thats all.
I'm watching a video about a guitar that can tune itself, and there's us a guy telling someone to hang themselves, in the comments. Okay.
@spoof191 guitarist mag
I saw one of these for sale years ago and thought you would have to strip all the tech out to have a reasonable player.
But forgot the name and just found it again.
The auto tune thing is a no go. It won't last. I had a 2015 with it and it was fragile and unreliable. Removed it , put the proper tuners on then put the robo tune on an acoustic which lasted for a year or so then just stopped ( didn't even change tunings just kept it EADGBE ).
What kind of sorcery tis this :o
that's your headphones..
This goes beyond my imagination
I can hardly play with the standard tuning! Useless for me! :P
That's no L5 not even close.
Donuts gonna play by itself and we no longer gonna need humans playing guitars just the guitar the and band
Someone at Gibson needs to stop fiddling with string-wrecking gimmicks and go play a VG Strat. Also, magazine owner, if Gibson paid you for this you should apologize... 'sounds okay too' is a far stretch of the imagination in comparison to the tones I just heard.
if gibson wants to do a modern thing, make a fucking 24 fret shred series like your cheap epiphone is so currently successful with. ADD A G*DAMN FLOYD ROSE ON AN SG.
