Burtons voice in concerts was always like a slot machine, sometimes fine, sometimes really bad. But during the Obsolete years 98/99 he was on his peak.
Seems to be a great place for a live show. Scenary gives good sound from the instruments, as well as Burton's voice (however, all of them gave a perfect show). For some reason I perceive this place has good settings for this kind of events. Excellent!
It is a great place. Only can fit about 2000 people in there and the sound is incredible. Very intimate. I live 45 minutes away and I missed this show. Bummer.
I understand the absolute pounding that singing in this genre of music must place on his vocal chords - but damn I wish Burton could still sing like this...
epic fucking song... epic fucking album. its a shame they never did anything with this album. it would have been awesome to see someone make some sort of animated movie based on the story and characters of this album and use the songs for it.
@secretRBRman 5 or 6 decent songs? Resurrection, Edgecrusher, Obsolete, Timelessness, Slave Labor, Digimortal, Empire, Self-Bias Resistor, Replica, Pisschrist, Demanufacture, Hunter-Killer, Powershifter, Industrial Discipline, Fear Campaign, Mechanize, Zero Signal, Securitron... I could go on.
I figured it out: Burton is literally screaming on the Obsolete record, and not the right way. You can hear his voice strain at 2:48. That's my hypothesis on why Burt's vocals now don't sound so great. He was screaming the wrong way in this record (And a little in Demanufacture, but it was mixed with the right kind of growls to help prevent such strain) and it affected it cleans later on (you can see his live voice sharply decrease from Digimortal and on.)
Joe Sheto Idk, he sounded like shit in shows before this period and afterwards. This show was just amazing for some reason, good thing it was recorded.
+Joe Sheto actually i seen them live recently and his voice was fine. hes not a young chicken and don't expect him to be polished with high expectations, still a bloody good live show
+Joe Sheto Vocal compression isn't easy, and there's a major difference between that and what guys like Burt do lol. This was just an awesome day for his voice really.
this show was fuckin' awesome. definitely one of the more memorable shows i saw FF at. pretty cool i'm in this vid...my hand/arm is visible throughout almost the whole thing! lol
I dont understand the guitarist adding what sounds like out of tone out of place weird harmonics during the chorus. This version I woke up with in my head, I know Im not hearing things. Why does he do that? The only good version Ive found is from 1998 where he doesnt do that.
well when you go to a live performance, the show is what is the best. I mean bands are good live, and some are bad, but usually their music is never half as good as it is in studio. Usually because they get tired between songs, maybe the singer or other member is a little off his or her game, and its not being remastered. Its just not as good live to watch it on video, the only live i would watch was in person.
I have had the personal pleasure to say that this is the very first band I have seen live. 1998.. I was 14 .. they opened up for Rob Zombie.. and monster magnet..(booooo to both compared to this band) I was lucky enough to catch a cd that was thrown out ( had edgecrusher and shock on it) R. Zombie was cool.. but I don't listen to rob zombie and I don't listen to shit ass monster magnet. 16 years later... I Listen to FEAR FACTORY. im so pleased to hear that they have squashed their quarrels and they are reconciling. It would be surreal to see them together again in concert. Wolbers is badassssssssssss. (im a bass player BTW.... Edgecrusher blew me away.. AN UPRIGHT BASS????!!)

He was potentially even better in 2004 after having a break imo. Look up the Rome show.
Fear factory has been an integral part of my childhood and it makes this 32 year old man to tears when listening to this masterpiece
33 year old man here. Been a fan since I was 15 y/o. I love this song
Massively underrated band.
Oh man, his voice was so good during those years!
Probably one of the best live performances
Of tnis song, definitely....
It's so awesome!
Summer 1998, Fear Factory Obsolete era, possibly the best time of my life.

Wow, I cant stop watching, this live performance is just amazing! The raw emotion! Epic!

I really want the old lineup to get back together! ...So good!

Check out the security guard right in front of Burton at 5:26, fucking loving it!

6:48 agree.....epic
this song is literally perfect.
revive a hope for mankind!
They could play live the whole Obsolete album and record it on dvd, that shit would be like heaven
Goosebumps everytime.
❤❤❤
Relentless, pummeling industrial genius, with some emotional depth and reflection added in. My favourite FF song.
Sends shivers down my spine
This inspires me.
Beast performance
Loveeelyyy !!!! i fukn love this song and how its souns live !!
possibly the best vocal performance by Burton C. Bell
epic fucking song... epic fucking album. its a shame they never did anything with this album. it would have been awesome to see someone make some sort of animated movie based on the story and characters of this album and use the songs for it.
no words 5 stars

@secretRBRman Let's not forget Archetype and Final Exit, too.
This show has become infamous.
Why infamous? Did something bad happen here?
No it's seen as one of their best shows that was captured
silentwars666 I'd agree with that, they were great on this tour.
The Obsolete gig at the Metro in Sydney, Febuary(or maybe early March) 99' was the first time I saw FF. Still the best FF gig I've been to.
You are so true my friend, you are so true....just sublime.
wish i was there... least you will see em again soon
Pretty awesome
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE....I SIMPLY CANNOT SAY ANYTHING ELSE....
That outro!!! Holy fucking shit!!!! Wish this was the Fear Factory of today!!
I love watching how some of the security there was really into it too, hehe.

+Joe Sheto That's the biggest bullshit I've ever heard xD
Xyloblast thanks for the unproductive comment.

Oh... and let's not forget Shock.
quality
Fucking fantastic song !!!
Burton has a Nine Inch Nails cap! LOL! My 2 favorite band.

"Reach for the sky. Touch the sky. Revive a hope for mankind." 6:48 This part reminds me of my lord Jesus. so inspiring.
It's probably supposed to remind you of Jesus. Look up the official video for this song :)
its about the edge crusher beccoming inspired again by a statue of the crusified jesus he finds in a church
Except for the whole " All that I know, there was no God for me" part.
I loved the song when I was atheist. Now 20 years later, I love Jesus and this song is even better!
@@tracyholder9190 there WAS no God for him, before that moment.

burt!
fear factory is great. Obvious Godflesh influenced, especially on Burton... but still top notch Industrial Metal
Music sucks now adays. I miss the 90s. Had heart and soul.
I really like this song, but its kinda been killed through this video. but then again nothing sounds good live.
nothing sounds good live? have u heard meshuggah live in person or the berzerker , or cephalic carnage or any professional band ?
I was talking nonsense back then, still do, but i was then as well
@@defection😂
Reverb much?
