Hi! I’ve owned Guinea pigs for a while. One is almost 6, and the other is almost 5. I noticed yours are in an outdoor hutch. Keeping Guinea pigs outdoors isn’t ideal, as they are vulnerable to the elements and cold (letting them go in the outdoor run to get some grass time is fine though). Guinea pigs are apart of the family, and it’s recommended that they are kept indoors. You can get indoor c&c cages for them. Also fleece bedding is much better as it’s reusable, better for their feet, and much easier to clean. I recommend watching Guinea pig UA-camrs like Squeak Dreams, Autumn Grace, Guinea Pig Jungle, Little Adventures, and The Pig Room. They have lots of videos on how to care for Guinea pigs, and they definitely helped me to learn more about keeping them, even after we adopted them. Also most Guinea pigs are very curious and love new things. So give them enrichment toys or change their cage layout every now and then! Best of luck to you and your piggies! ❤️

Thank you for the advice; I’ve also owned Guinea pigs for quite a while (almost 7 years now!!) and funnily enough already do frequently watch UA-camrs such as Squeak Dreams, Little adventures, and even write articles for the Guinea Pig Magazine. -I understand it is recommended for Guinea pigs to live indoors, however in the right conditions, it is perfectly fine for them to live outside. (+they come inside during the winter) -The girls are a HUGE part of our family, and no day goes by where they aren’t visited at least 10 times. I’ve been frequently handing them, change their setup each week, and offer them ample toys to engage with as well as various forages. Everyone has their own opinions on what is appropriate for Guinea pig housing, and I completely agree with you on all your points!! Please don’t worry though, my girls are very well looked after and I am doing my absolute best to give them the most full filling lives I can~ 😊❤ Please consider that some people don’t have the option to keep their animals indoors year round, and that this doesn’t mean that they’re any less well-looked after or loved than those that are.

And yes, I do know that some people don’t have the option to keep them indoors all year round, I was just worried about the weather conditions. Of course I wasn’t assuming that they were any less loved just because they were kept outside! I probably could’ve worded it better though- lol. Great to know that they are well taken care of!
