      Definitely a powerful visual thinker. Her mental image of finish line elation is a very effective source of motivation.

    love her attitude and approach! She keeps using the Pain Cave as this metaphor - but I'd really like her to describe mentally what that means - what does she actually "do" mentally with / in the Pain Cave? Is the cave just a metaphor to being in pain but not letting mental negativity enter? But how/what does she do? Mentally keep chanting a mantra? Mentally keep actively re-directing her brain from negative thought and replace with a positive thought? I'd love to get practically deeper into what she means.

    • @runsingletrack
      @runsingletrack  Рік тому +1

      I think we discussed that precisely! The pain cave is where she accepts negative thoughts and converts them into positive thoughts. It's like an assembly line for optimizing in the moment attitude about her circumstances.

    • @MarkGriffith
      @MarkGriffith Рік тому +1

      Yes perhaps! ;) - it is always just a little too theoretical for me and I'd like to ask her a bunch of those types of questions and confirm. Maybe she wouldn't say though - like with her training :) - anyway - thanks for yet another great conversation, I am super excited to see what she and Tom do at UTMB. @@runsingletrack

      There's a really good interview by Rich Roll about other aspects of the pain cave. Finn did find some new details here. But yes I'm wondering what the mantras are specifically too.

      @@runsingletrack we would have probably said that also after western state and she still managed to finish 4th overall if i'm not wrong. and it was 3 weeks after. she got moths of recovery for the UTMB so who knows :) but ur probably right anyway. it's a bold move to enlist utmb this year

I wonder if you would ask very specific nutrition strategies she has found to be helpful next interview? I know everyone's different & u hv to learn ur own body but Courtney has mentioned having "Plan A, B C D E F [dissolves into laughter]" but I'm interested in the specifics. Great interview! 🎉🎉🎉
