Yes, the Sierra has about 2000 lakes of which some 1300 to 1400 have trout populations. I have a “secret “ golden trout lake well above 11,000 feet where I catch 18 inch plus goldens. However, it’s about 25 miles from the trailhead, and you must negotiate an 11,300 ft pass and a 12,200 ft pass. Last time we were at the lake for three days and were the only ones fishing.

There are no secret lakes or breaks, thanks to Google Earth.
I fished Rae lakes last year but no 18 inchers would love to find beautiful lake way in the back country where I can catch some 15-18 inchers
