  • IMPORTANT NOTE: MailChimp has removed their free app from the AppExchange - BUT you are still able to download the free app if you have the link: appexchange.salesforce.com/ap.... There is a new paid app from Beaufort12 that is listed as the 'Official Mailchimp Salesforce integration'. We are sure the free app will be going away. We are currently working on evaluating the new paid app to understand the keys differences and what needs to be bolted on to enhance the integration. We will come out with a video series on how to extend the functionality in the paid app so you can achieve the same results you had with the free app.

    This is so helpful! Thank you. I also ran into an issue where the new query pulled 2100 records (email not equal to blank and MC Status equals to Subscribed) but some of the contacts who meet those criteria are not in MailChimp though some are - MC recognizes 510 new contacts from that query. I'd also like to add a filter to the query of MC Subscriber = blank, but that field doesn't show up on the contact query list of fields. I did a work around of a report where the MC Subscriber was blank, pushed to a Campaign and then query on the campaign.

    • @BluTigerAcademy
      @BluTigerAcademy  6 місяців тому

      You are welcome! Great idea on using the report. You can also create a formula field and use that in the criteria. This will allow you to check for the MC Subscriber = blank plus whatever else you want to add. Great step by step tutorial and definitely a big help as we look to integrate our SF with MC. Question, it seems the leads are just going one way, SF -> MC to send a campaign email is this correct? Is it possible to take lists from MC, maybe with Tags per each entry in MC and bring those into our SF account? If possible I would be interested in taking MC lists or subscribers and then use those in SF to make sure we are working with the same leads/contacts in our marketing campaigns as well as our opportunities in SF as we connect with various accounts. I would then also like to use the native SF mass email ability to also email large numbers of leads/contacts from my SF account and not just from MC. Any suggestions or video recommendations to see if this is possible?

    • @BluTigerAcademy
      @BluTigerAcademy  6 місяців тому +1

      There is a way to bring in people from MC to SF, but they all come in as Leads. If you are ok with this, then you would do this in the MC Setup tab in Salesforce -> Settings tab -> Allow Mailchimp to Create Leads in Salesforce - turn this setting on. We do not have a video on how to use this feature. I can definitely add it to the list to work on.
      For the other question on syncing tags to SF from MC, this is a little complicated due to how this data is stored in SF. There is a field called 'Static Segments' on the 'MC Subscriber' record. This is a text string that lists an Id for each tag the contact has in MC. These Ids correspond to records in the 'MC Static Segment' object in SF. The data exists in SF for us to use, it would just take a little bit of flow magic to make it usable. We can do a video on this as well, we just need to better understand your use case. Are you looking to run a report of leads or contacts with a specific MC tag in SF? Give us a little bit more context, so we can build a solid scenario to illustrate in a video.
      One more recommendation, if you are using SF to solicit people via mass email, this is not recommended for many reasons. One big reason is SF does not have a built in way to allow people to unsubscribe from emails.

      @@BluTigerAcademy Thanks for the reply and definitely helps understand the connection between SF and MC much better. Good to know you can bring in lists into SF from MC but understand how this won't be ideal since they will all be leads. Ideally would think a smooth connection going both ways between the two would help keep both the marketing (MC) team and the sales (SF) reps platforms up to date as clients might change an email, move to a different company so need to be attached to a different account with a prior contact no longer being associated with a specific account, and making sure any bounced emails sent/received can be updated on both platforms at the same time but it doesn't sound like that could be done with a smooth process, unless I'm wrong?? Sound like the tags question I asked would be a complicated process and might just stay away from that. Would like to hear more about reasons not to mass email out of SF especially if you just add some verbiage to the signature of the email mentioning to reply back saying unsubscribe to opt them out. Any info you have on this and what is ideal would be appreciated. Is there a good email to correspond with besides this comment section? ;-)

      @kazar54 You are bringing up great questions that others may have, I would love to keep the conversation here so others can benefit from the commentary or chime in! I want to preface this with we are not email marketing experts, we have just learned a lot over the years and have learned best practices from working with many marketing consultants.
      You are absolutely correct, you can add verbiage to the email telling the recipient to reply back and unsubscribe, but then you have a manual process to unsubscribe them. We have a video that covers this process and the steps you must take in order to unsubscribe a person from SF and have it update MC: ua-cam.com/video/pkw6dx1SC88/v-deo.html The process is not straight forward because MC cannot see anyone in SF with Email Opt Out = True, you have to build a workaround.
      We have another video on how to handle email address changes: ua-cam.com/video/npn_F2ZHsMQ/v-deo.html This is not straight forward either because if you change an email address on a Contact, the same person will have two Contacts in MC.
      If someone changes companies, we would recommend you mark the old Contact with Status = Inactive and then create a new Contact with the new email address under the new company. The Status change on the old contact should sync to MC and then you can auto archive them. We have another video describing this how to do this process: ua-cam.com/video/E6ZKXTJWCk8/v-deo.html
      Here is a list of reasons why we would recommend not using SF for mass emails if you have MC or another marketing automation system -> would love to hear from others if they agree/disagree:
      - Automated unsubscribe process with ability to manage email preferences
      - Email Metrics - mass emails from SF do now give you a comprehensive view of how an email performed. You will not get any unsusbcribe, open, bounce or click rates
      - Track which links are clicked in an email - SF mass email cannot do this
      - SF emails go to spam folders (there is a way to get around this - requires the setup of DKIM Keys and SPF records)
      - Marketing automation systems provide sending domains and dedicated IP addresses - this protects your domain and IP
      My question is why would you prefer to send emails from SF over MC? I am super curious on your use case.

    • @kazar54
      @kazar54 6 місяців тому

      @@BluTigerAcademy Great info and thanks for sharing the videos and links. I will definitely check them out and it is also great to hear your processes and recommendations come from years of work so they are tested and validated. As far as why I am asking. If we email from SF then it is logged as an activity in SF whereas we haven't been able to do this in SF when sending mass emails from MC so we didn't have a logged call of an email being sent to the lead and contact.
      Question for contacts and leads in SF, if we have a client as a contact should they also have a lead registered or just a Contact? When we import lists into SF we end up importing clients who are already a contact so there ends up being a lead registered/noted in SF as well due to the import of a list we had. Didn't know if having both is not a best practice and either or is there any justification on why to have only one or another? I understand if a client has no opportunity associated with them then they would stay as a lead until converted later but not sure about those who have converted to a Contact. Look forward to seeing your suggestions. BTW, are you on twittter, FB or IG at all? Didn't know if we could follow more Blu Tiger content on those channels as well or just a UA-cam Channel presence.Thanks

    • @BluTigerAcademy
      @BluTigerAcademy  6 місяців тому +1

      Thank you for sharing your use case. We recommend using Campaigns and Campaign Members to store all marketing email related activities. This way the marketing and sales activities are segregated and you can get the email metrics at the campaign level. In my experience, if marketing stores all of their email related activity in Activities, then it is more difficult for sales to find their emails, meetings and tasks. We have a video that describes how to sync MC Campaigns to SF Campaigns: ua-cam.com/video/owG9XEcW4Wc/v-deo.html and then another video on how to add Campaign Members to those campaigns: ua-cam.com/video/Vu4z68NiQxg/v-deo.html
      On your Leads and Contacts question - if someone exists as a Contact, you do not want them to exist as a Lead - this would be considered a duplicate. We have a video that describes how to import a list without creating duplicate Lead records for Contacts if you do not have a tool like DemandTools to cross reference the data: ua-cam.com/video/r28sv2_lloQ/v-deo.html This video is our recommendation for managing Leads and Contacts in a B2B environment. We recommend going through this multi-step process for list imports: (1) Cross reference with existing Contacts (2) Cross reference company with existing Accounts (3) Cross reference with existing Leads
      We do not have any other channels at this time but appreciate your interest in them!

    Thank you so much for this tutorial! Really informative and presented so well. I've followed your steps within the query setup and am coming across a hiccup. After selecting the audience, creating the filters, then am shown a preview of which leads fit within the filters I've selected. @MikkiSkinner-vq8eq 4 місяці тому

      @@BluTigerAcademy Yes, the Last Status is reflecting Success in the Member Queries tab. In the preview screen, the Subscriber Status is showing "New". Interestingly, three new leads were created yesterday via our website that came into SF. Those three went through the query and have imported into Mailchimp successfully! So now, just trying to figure out how to migrate the ones created prior to setting up the query. Again, you all are so amazing for helping and troubleshooting! Much appreciated!

    • @BluTigerAcademy
      @BluTigerAcademy  4 місяці тому

      @@MikkiSkinner-vq8eqThat you for the explanation!! You need to run a mass update to the existing records to trigger the last modified date to be today's date. You can run an export via data loader with just the ID in the file. Then run an update with only the Id in the file to trigger the Last Modified Date to change. This should then make the query pick up the existing records. I think we have a video on how to do this somewhere, let me know if you need me to dig that up for you.

    Hi there, I am trying to import all contacts into MC through a query saying Email not equal to null. In the query preview I see all the names, but when I run it. Nothing comes through. Im looking at about 8,000 contacts. Any help would be really appreciated. Great content!

    • @BluTigerAcademy
      @BluTigerAcademy  8 місяців тому

      Hmm, it is difficult to say what the issue is for sure as I have not run into this specific. One guess is that you need to trigger an update to your Contact records or make the Last Run Date a date prior to the most recently modified date on your Contact records. In the Name and Schedule screen (the 4th step when setting up an MC Query) it has the following instructions ->
      "Last Run Date reflects the date and time that the query was last run. Each time the query runs, it will fetch all records created or updated after the Last Run Date.
      If you would like to run the query for records that were created or updated before this date (for example, the query filters were updated), you can do this by editing the Last Run Date to a date in the past that is before the date that your records were created or updated. The next time the query runs, it will query all records created or updated after the date you specify in Last Run Date."
      If setting the Last Run Date to a date in the past does not work, run an export using data loader with only the ContactId in the export. Then run an update with only the Id mapped. This will update the Last Modified date of the record to be the time you ran the update.
      If this is not the issue, some other things you can check: (1) Make sure Data Sync is enabled in the MC Setup tab -> Settings -> Data Sync (2) Check field mapping and make sure First Name and Last Name fields are mapped
      Let us know if you get this resolved.

      - Can you explain what you mean by a 'group'?
