He is gorgeous, my son has a black standard called Billy, poodles are very very smart and loyal , you will love the no hair on your clothes because they have wool . Once you have a poodle you will never have another breed of dog hugs from Australia

Julie, it’s so lovely to see this new family dynamic with Finn. He’s a wonderful addition to your brood. I have never had a dog, we’ve always had cats. My beloved cat passed at Christmas. I had him since he was 8 weeks old, and he was 20 years old when he died. Animals bring such joy to our families. I’m so happy for you guys. Charlotte 🫶🏼🇬🇧

so sorry for the loss of your wonderful cat. I had a cat I saved from being (done in) . she was around 3 years old, and I had her for 19 years, so she lived 23 years as far as I know. She was the best cat; nobody knew we had a cat for years. Indoor cats only for me and my hubby says only 1 at a time since he never was a cat person, but I am. I have one now that my son saved and he had to leave him here as our son got married and moved out , but Timmy the cat was way too comfy here and plays with our Bailey boy.

I use 12” collagen chews, they are more digestible than bully sticks. You should take the stick away when it gets small. My two golden doodles do well with them. I use Riley’s brand and Pawstruck available on Amazon.

We had to do ball therapy with our golden doodle! Gentle tooth pulling is what we did along with really make playing with the ball exciting! The more exciting you make the ball seem the more he will play with it. It worked well for our dog and corrected her tooth! Also, best advice we got with leash training to eliminate pulling is using a front leading harness. The pulling stopped almost immediately, truly amazing. Good luck! Raising a puppy is challenging but SO FUN! :)

We have a Bernese Mt. dog who chews literally EVERYTHING! We found that deer antlers, goat horns, the No-Hide beef chews, and even a beef collagen roll work AMAZING. (we have a local store where we live, but you can find places to get them online) We will also buy a bag of carrots and peel them, put them in a ziplock bag and freeze them. He LOVES them, they're healthier for them and its great for keeping plaque off of their teeth. Celery is a natural breath freshener and is better for them than the greenie treats that you have. Just a few ideas that work for us! He is precious!

Our dog used to hate the blow dryer too. We didn’t realize for quite a few years that it was actually hurting his ears more than just bothering him. (A dog’s hearing is a lot more sensitive than ours.) It got worse as he got older. We had to eventually let him air-dry as he hit his old age.

    • @mamawfrancy
      @mamawfrancy 6 днів тому +1

Yes, high pitch sounds hurts a dog's ears.. not sure about other animals but for sure a dog. Our dog would cry & howl at the coal trains (metal rails screeching) every time they passed our house.. years later she eventually went deaf. 😢

We have a white standard poodle. Ours is 5 yes old, we got him at 8 weeks old.
Our Bailey was just like Finn at that age. Yes, watch what you give him, we did rawhide free sticks the first year. Our Bailey lives to chew stuff toys and lives ball play. BUT IT'S VERY IMPORTANT to have there feeding and water bowl up at at least cheesy high. That's because of standard poodle chests. They can die due to how they eat.
We learned that at our very and other poodle owners.

@@JulieDeru I will let you know the trainer my hubby watched to train our Bailey. Bailey is also a mobility service dog as well as he tells me when my flair is coming on. Again, my hubby did all the training. It is better when 1 or 2 same people to train as they stay focused on them better and learn faster. Then my hubby told me the key words to use when a command or needed him to do something. I also make him sit at every stop sign or corner to look both ways before we cross the street. of course, with a treat after he did it

Bully sticks are fine if they chew them up. My dog would chew it until it was about the size of a baby carrot and then swallow it whole, which can cause a lot of problems. Order a few bones from Mika & Sammy's! They are a family owned business, a little pricey but the bones are slow smoked and last my dog months! The chewing really tires them out especially when they are pups!

Put a little peanut butter on the ball. He will chew it. 😉

I tried that. He seams to lick it and then be done. I will keep trying it though.

@@JulieDeru Isn't he smart? 😂 The only other thing we tried with ours was also a little messy but if the ball has a corded exterior it might work. We soaked ours in beef broth and let it dry. Our bigger boy liked that better than peanut butter. He kind of felt like he had to chew at whatever was giving the taste/smell. Of course it had to be resoaked and dried. We had two that we kept alternating. Good luck!

This is an afterthought & thinking of Finn.. high pitched sounds (hair dryer) can hurt a dog's sensitive ears. Our dog would cry & howl every time a coal train (screeching metal rails) passed our house & after years she went deaf. Julie, you're smart & thoughtful & maybe can come up with a default plan for drying Finn. Love & Appreciate You.

Finn is most definitely not a full breed poodle...hes a golden doodle. Please dont take this comment as being disrespectful. I would suggest doing a DNA test on him.

I have his pedigree chart that goes back many generations. 🤷‍♀️ I’m sure his looks will change as he gets groomed, older, and his curly hair comes in. 🤍

Julie, what would help is the foldable doggy stairs? Finn will be able to walk right up to the table or you can also use different cardboard boxes for him to climb up on.
