Its almost as if its a tv show made for entertainment
...some things I think are very helpful...but most of it useless. The go see part seems to show them how it feels to be judged.. Miss j teaching the girls to runway walk would be a priceless lesson and I saw some early cycles that Janice would do lessons with the girls like how to pose in a bathing suit and Paulina porizcova did some lessons later in the cycles...but some of it was just to make the girls look dumb
@@dylanbuckskin8995 what do you mean the go see part shows them how it feels to be judged? Lol, they're judged every single week based on their performance by a panel of judges, IN FRONT of the other aspiring models. I'm pretty sure that'll make anyone feel more judged than a go see which they usually only do once during the entire competition. But I agree, I think the show and Tyra (personally), get's some sort of sick pleasure from putting these girls through ridiculous, non realistic photoshoots and "challenges". I have yet to see any big time model do even a quarter of the insane things they make them do. I mean, come on, walking a water runway in a giant bubble? Walking on a conveyor belt in heels, walking in time between two giant swinging pendulums, and the photoshoots? Posing in a butcher shop with dead meat hanging up while in meat bathing suites (before Gaga did this... hmm wonder where she got the idea from), making them up in essentially black face (twice! Come on, Tyra wake up!), a photoshoot wearing dresses made of human hair, in wind tunnels to advertise foundation (um, ok), making them nearly get hypothermia by taking pictures in a freezing cold pool (you couldn't have had it heated?) All in the name of "fashion". And then once these girls finished the show, you never hear about 90% of them ever again. Why? Because they have a portfolio of clownish "high fashion" pictures OR, they just figured that how the show was, was what it was like to be a model, when in reality, it was not even close to being like that.
Amanda Nantucket I think she meant judged by real Agents or Designers. The Go Sees were the closest thing to reality on the show.

Looking back, this show was actually pretty humiliating and degrading towards some of the girls. Making them do ridiculous things not for modeling, but ratings. More like America's Next Top Casting Couch.

@@unaninanine3743 I didnt ask for your advice, and I dont watch it. I was responding to your question assuming nobody would watch if it was only about modeling which is untrue. There used to be an actual tv channel that played real runway shows all the time, I used to leave that channel on and watch it. People dont always need shock value. I found the fashion and calmness of the shows to be interesting and soothing.

@@RocioNicte I remember being little and watching this with with some relatives. It was so mean spirited that I would ask "why do they treat the girls so bad? Its not fair". But then I would be shushed and told "beauty is pain." I always knew this show was bad, its just that people thought it was ok because of the concept " you can't have beauty without pain". It was all so... Pointless.
This horrible show is just teaching girls that being abused in that industry is okay and that they should just shut up and smile while they do what they're told

Modelling is literally all about doing what you're told if you want the money. If you don't want it then go and work somewhere else.
Setting them up for realistic expectations. I worked as a model and there is so much shady shit that goes on that makes this look like a cakewalk. You're absolutely right. There are some really great people and some who are working to make changes, but there's still a ton of awful people who continue to get away with Terry Richardson-esq abuse with so much as a scratch on their careers. Luckily, freelance models keep groups to expose bad behavior and to keep others up to date on who they should or shouldn't work for, but agencies still have some major issues and refusing to work with a famous photog known to be a predator is a good way to get dumped. I'm honestly surprised we haven't seen a Me Too movement solely dedicated to the modeling and fashion industries. Maybe I missed it?

Brien Van Dyke this video does a horrible job of actually explaining why tyra snapped. i feel like i can’t really explain it in a great way either, so you could look up the clip or google it. personally, i think tyra was right to be angry, especially since tiffany was being very disrespectful. hope this helps :)

The girl’s grandmother had her power cut off because she spent her money on a bathing suit for the girl to enter the competition. That’s why Tyra was furious with her, she was acting like she didn’t care that she was eliminated, like it was no big deal.

There's a simple question you can ask yourself: Did people from your culture ever kill or enslave millions of people from their culture? If the answer is no, go ahead and show your appreciation. If the answer is yes, you do not get to decide that elements of their culture are suddenly cool or fun and use them without permission. If your people had had their way, those things would have stopped existing. For as long as their people still feel the negative repercussions of your peoples' actions, those things are off limits. It doesn't matter that you weren't directly responsible, it's a show of respect for their struggle.

that runway with the moving pendulums was absolutely insane! i love watching fashion shows and never in my years of watching them have I seen a runway this crazy. heck, most of the runways or challenges in antm are quite unrealistic and frankly humiliating and impossible.
That poor guy who's girl cheated! He sounded SO crushed. My favourite season was with Amanda, the girl who had RP and was legally blind. I have RP too and she was my total inspiration. All I wanted to do growing up, and what I do now, is work in the entertainment industry and seeing another girl with the same disease totally rocking it pushed me forward in a big way at the young age when I was so impressionable. :)

People on this show always act like it's so easy to grow hair back, but it can take years and years to get your hair back especially if it's really long/ natural hair. It has taken me more than 6 years to get my hair barely down to the back of my bra when it was originally to my chin. When you're young that's scary, and you can honestly lose that look for most of your present life situation.

As a model, your job is to essentially showcase a product, or in some instances to be that product- you need to be able to adapt your outward appearance in any way that is asked of you while keeping your inner self whole and true

I used to watch this when I was like 15. I loved it. But now watching back, it was horrible. And tyra seems really selfish. Dictating people how they should look. I mean if she feels like a specific hairstyle suits a contestant's face, then offer it as an advice. If she takes it, then good for her. If she doesn't then she'll just have to prove she can rock photoshoots with the hairstyle she wants. Don't make her leave the competition.
