Yeah, the Finnish songs used to be very popular. Some of them are pretty old, but they are still played on the radio and such.
I can tell you that google translator is shit when it comes to finnish language. It translates everything however it wants. TIMANTIT ON IKUISIA means "Diamonds are forever" or "Diamonds are eternal"

I don't like how so many kpop fans are hating on finnish pop here 😔 Some finnish songs are actually really good! Mainstream ones aren't always that good but some of them are gems. I myself like both Finnish and Korean pop!

Although pop around the world is quite similar I feel like Finnish pop-singers have more down to earth type of music (for example Ida Paul&Kalle Lindroth, Ellinoora) than Korean singers because the big management companies in Korea clearly have certain types of visions for the idols. But there is of course commercial music in Finland and "original" artists in Korea too!

Yes they are. It says so on her Wikipedia. It's her songs which she composed & wrote lyrics with the help of few others. She wrote the lyrics in English first, of course she didn't write Korean parts.
Is it just because of I'm a Finn... or do Finnish pop singers have more variety on voices and styles? Also, all K-pop music videos are like the bubbly sweetest ever dance music videos and all of the Finnish ones are either sad or serious or depressing stories of life? :D
Apulanta started as a punkband and refined to punkrock, but I wouldn't call them pop even if their sound has got lighter.

Finnish music lacks a lot of wow factor. I have never been amazed by how good finnish artists but when comparing to korean artists, each time I listened song first time from Blackpink, IU, akmu, taeyeon, BTS I was like "this is fkign amazing" and started searching more of their songs.
9:30 the song is called "pahempi toistaan" which would be easiest to translate into "worse than the other", (He is singing how they are both worse than the other, how that is killing them and how their bad actions can not be undone)

In general, K-Pop will have more money to put into song and video production, than what you have in Finland. That's not necessarily a reflection on quality though. I have the impression, that due to the smaller production scale over here in the North, singer-songwriters, rock and the less flashy artists have a comparatively higher chance of getting noticed, than in Korea. However, my knowledge of the larger music scene in Korea is limited, so I'm not sure how accurate this impression is. In general, the visual presentation musicians put out isn't really considered as important in Finland, it's more about what the music evokes in people.
Finland has the highest number of metal bands in the world per capita. Rock in general takes a big part of the Pop market over here.
I am Finnish and I really like to listen kpop, I have so many kpop songs on the playlist, my favorite Kpop bands are, Blackpink, Twice, Bts, Exo, Shinwa, Sister, Epikhigh, Bigbang, Many others, but also like Finnish pop a lot, but mostly I listen in a day Kpop, KDrama is what I like to watch I have seen about 536 Korean Dramas-Chinese Dramas-Taiwanese Dramas, in my youtube channel there are a lot of kpop song I like..

As a Finnish K-pop fan, this video was interesting🤔 Also my favourite music genre is K-pop, but usually when foreigners react for example to K-pop they don't understand the lyrics but they still respect the music. It's funny, because in this video i'm the one who understands the lyrics and not the opposite😂

your finnish pronunciation is so good! :) I think it's easy for koreans and finns to pronounce each others' languages. For me Korean is pretty easy to pronounce at least.

I'm not gonna diss Finnish music, I think they do really good music here too. But to me the HUGE difference is the visuals (and the image). K-pop seems to focus on beautiful dancers and beauty idols that appear clean, charged and artificial compared to Finnish which are usually people in everyday clothes, being relaxed and natural. Watching K-Pop reminds me ... Sprite or Coke commercials. Selling the COOL image product.

🌸 I think the difference between K-Pop and Western Pop in general is that K-Pop industries (is it called like that? English is not my first language, sorry!🌹) really care about looking perfect, setting trends and in my opinion they really do research on what is trendy now and kinda sprinkle that on top. All K-Pop idols are pretty , they dance and do more funny stuff like going to funny shows or play games etc. so that fans can always feel connected. I mean they are seen as idols! Meanwhile western pop artists don't need to look as perfect as K-Pop idols , they don't play games or go to fun shows a lot , they are more free and aren't seen as godlike idols. Of course they have fans who glorify them but in general I feel like K-Pop just knows how to sell music, they know how to sell these idols, it's more organized and perfect while western pop is more free and wild I guess I mean you can even see the differences in the videos. K-Pop music videos are as far as I know choreographed (when it's a group) , they show off their dancing talent and western pop music videos are different, you see landscapes, bling bling etc. they often don't focus on the singer and western pop is often more sexual ..singing about fucking bitches or whatever. Personally I like K-Pop more but I feel bad for the idols because they are signing a slave contract. Both can be dangerous. Western music industry and Korean music industry but I feel like western musicians are more free (?) They can date, they can make a break whenever they want, they can be more experimental and stuff like that..
But western pop is boring to me. I loved western pop in the 90s and early 2000s but now it's just lame and a bit tasteless imo 🌼
