I remember that my mom made me a lady bug cake for one of my birthdays (mid-seventies). She baked that in a giant stainless steel bowl and used red frosting, black licorice for antennae, and chocolate cookies for the dots. That nostalgia is what your ducky cake brings to mind. But, yeah, still a little creepy looking. 😬

thank you for this wonderful video. my 5 year old granddaughter requested this cake for her birthday and i have played some of the tricky parts over and over again. it is now in the fridge chilling with the crumb coating on it. this was a great help! i think i may use small round cakes for the head next time. lots of wasted cake from the loaf pan. :)

I use avocado oil as a vegetable oil replacement, personally! It doesn’t add much flavor at all, and if it does, it’s buttery! (plus it’s a whole lot healthier, haha)
