Capenna didn’t totally work but I appreciated them going out on a limb to create this plane. SNC is a bit overlooked but there is a foundation or revisit someday.
I also enjoy that ‘20s feel. It’s a hard thing to pull off and while SNC isn’t making my list of top sets I really did enjoy it more than I initially thought I would.
At least at release Bootlegger Stash and Ob-Nixilis were $20-$30 cards. Stash didn’t really pan out and Ob fell out of the meta. Not having any chase mythics really hurts this set. But you’re not wrong… $200 a box as an entry point is brutal. $135 is fairly low risk… $200 for less than 50% return on average is wooooof.
I feel SNC is a sleeper set and will creep up in price over time. I think there are a lot of good cards in the set. I feel the problems of standard have led to SNC, DMU, VOW, and MDH to be poor in value. Eventually these sets will be up there and singles will be highly sought after
It’s definitely sleeper criteria. Bottom fell out of it price wise. No one is paying attention to it or expecting anything from it. But it has the benefit of starting with a good land cycle. Bootlegger Stash and Ob-Nixilis not panning out as chase mythics really hurt this set.
Man I was rooting for SNC when it came out. I knew the theme and setting might put some people off, but I thought it was unique and pretty interesting. A shame it didn't take off quite like they hoped. I still think Wizards needs to stop trying to turn a Standard set into a 'secret' Commander set and instead just create cards that work, both in that set, and in Standard in general. Commander players will FIND the cards that work and use them. Anyway, always sucks to open a collector box and get under $75 in value. Yeah, the entrance price is nice, but that still stings. At least you got three Triomes!
SNC really was hurt by Bootlegger Stash not panning out and Ob-Nixilis falling out of the meta. If it had a couple strong Mythics to go with the good Rares and very strong land cycle it would be seen much more favorably. I also could use a little less forced commander presence in every set…
IMO this set feels like nemesis or masques. I do think it’ll age well due to the triomes mainly- also, outside of a masters set, it’ll be difficult for wotc to reprint them.
Triomes are going to keep this set afloat in the long term. IMO, this set will age okay but it’s going to be a long journey. There are some good commander cards but they will just get reprinted in other commander decks or sets. Not having any top end Mythics really hurts. Ledger Shredder and Hearse are quality Rares to have though. It needs a couple of cards that aren’t Triomes, shredder, or hearse to find a home in constructed.
Yeah, I’m not going to lie and say it was my favorite set. I wasn’t pumped about it when it was previewed. Especially coming off Kamigawa which I really enjoyed. I dig the roaring 20’s vibe though.
i disliked the fact that there were so many commander cards in my boxes. it made it a lot harder to get what i was looking for for standard. =/ that being said, i did like the flavor of the set for sure. also, nice POA call out. xD
Bruh... I'm not gonna buy a new phone so I can keep watching your channel. Please zoom in on the cards so I can read them. It's not hard, and no one cares about the background when were all trying to see the cards.
I appreciate the feedback. However, I’m not sure I’m going to be able to get a whole lot closer with the camera and card angle while still seeing the card myself. With the wall of text that some of these cards have I try to get it close enough that people can see the card and pause if they want to read it but I l’m also trying to balance the run time of the videos (which mine already run long on 😂).
Triomes did not come in the gilded treatment. Regular, showcase, and Borderless with foil versions of all three are the treatments Triomes were printed in for SNC.
The gilded treatment is quite cool. The raised foiling presents a little bit of a problem in terms of being able to sleeve and play with the cards but from an eye appeal and collectibility standpoint they are awesome.

Yeah, this is definitely a “Commander” set. There are some good commander cards to be pulled but I too wish they weren’t quite as prevalent.
