I'm deffo intrigued by this grim shit. I liked the idea of turnip too but this sounds even cooler tbh. I like the Iron Sultanate Hopefully we see the minis soon
I’m kind of curious about the mindset of people who pledge themselves to Hell. Cuz like, in Warhammer, that question with Chaos has many answers that have been explored at length, but this is a different world and cosmology. Do they view the Abrahamic God as something that can be defeated? Do they view themselves as superior? What do they get out of serving the demon lords? Is there a particular end goal in mind? What is their theology like?
I heard from another comment the reason they join and fight is that each soldier in the heretic legion believe that they are special and different and are the chosen one so they won’t suffer the infinite torture all the other souls will. Or desperation. If you’re already damned might as well try move up hells heirchy by committing atrocities.
Pointless hubris, they're the people who genuinely think 'I'm built different' and think there's something to gain, that there's anything to this other than satisfying the bitter resentment of the arch devils as they drive humanity to violate humanity even as they themselves suffer for their escalating crimes. It's the point of why 'heresy' was historically so reviled, because it's so 'self-evidently' stupid and self-destructive. The salvation of the gospel wasn't a matter of opinion or debate, the details within it were but the truth of it WAS truth. That's what the heretic legions are in this setting, ludicrous and self-destructive fools spiting the world for no benefit.

I talk to the devs all the time. I think I'm good. For the viewer's sake, anything that is not officially or where I add my own lore I clearly state so in the description. In this one I clearly state it is from official sources.
What if the Templars who opened hells gates saw a vision of our world today and thought it would be better for the devil to actually be on earth instead of him slowly taking the world over by using humans to usurp Gods will? Like I'm dying laughing from the idea of some Templar being shown some Gen Z kid who vapes in his face and asks if he has "skibidi rizz" and all the Templar can think of is "this shall not come to pass".
It's a fun question, no doubt. The easy answer is that God did just snap his fingers and put everything right, there wouldn't be much of a game to play. lol We can also argue that God does have direct intervention in the form miracles performed by certain troops, certain technological discoveries that inform weapons and armor, and you could even argue that elements of the world such as the Meta-Christ indicate that he is taking action to help. I think the good thing is that the playerbase will come up with all manner of theories. I like the idea that this is turning mankind into something that it needs to be, one way or the other.
The reason for this is that, Jesus (the most high GOD walking the earth in a flesh body, just like we for now inhabit) has told us all things; of the which, there are a great many that needs yet to happen down here in the murk under the sun. And they shall come to pass. So he does as you inquire, but not yet. Yes, you are being tested; and GOD breaks the weak. Mark 13 (kjv) (it is important to use a kjv, as that is meted out with what is known as the Strong's Concordance, so all the words can be looked up and defined; even though the Bible has a built in dictionary, that is enough, it is the only assembled writings in existence to have such a thing - and that cannot be explained away or disregarded in any honesty. Or an older version. The new "versions" that have newly "sprang up" have been altered in a quite vile way by some quite vain fellows; and there is a penalty that will rest upon them for doing what they have purposefully done. Notwithstanding, GOD promised to preserve His Word to all "Generations" and send teachers, and lo, He has.) Revelation 22:18-19 (kjv)
I see all these people getting mad about the whole discord thing, and I’m usually the first one to say rip bozo about a company ruining their own image, however, I have 2 reasons why I’m not saying that about trench crusade 1- all the drama happened OUTSIDE the scope of the game, to be frank I couldn’t give a hell about what happened on a forum or discord. I have seen literally no impact on the game that I’m interested in supporting/playing 2-regardless of what developers and moderators think, as long as they dedicate themselves to making a good and consistently performing product, I have no issue with supporting their passion. As someone who delves in the deluge of greed that is magic the gathering for almost a decade and casually plays 40k with friends every now and then , I had no issue with the whole retconning stuff, although it irked me some. I’m excited to see all the new army stuff coming for the guard as the stuff we’ve seen already looks great. As for Trench crusade I’m terribly depressed I missed the kickstarter as I wanted the rule book pledge, but am extremely excited to see this amazing game come to fruition. Btw rant over, love your content sand have been bingeing it for weeks, as you are what introduced me to this badass game! Keep it up and I hope you get an official narration job with the game for their lore stuff!
According to one of the lore blurbs, an Angel appeared on the battlefield once and it glassed both armies just by being there. So safe to say if the angels get involved it’s game over for humanity.
@@Chaotic_JackalIncludikg himself? My point is there is this implication that the goal is eternal suffering through pestilence. If everything is destroyed, there is nothing left to suffer. Where’s the fun in that?
Hell is broken up into a lot of different factions that all hate each other, so it's actually quite hard for them to get any semblance of real "top to bottom" organization on.
It'd be cool if they did it for both sides. In the sense that on one hand you've got the people on the side of the faithful fighting Hell but Hell's forces are also bolstered by the more monstrous spirits from within the pantheon of the newcomers. Imagine what a Wendigo would look like in this universe.
@@NorthernNorthdude91749 of course, that wasn't the point. My point was that different cultures equivalent of demons could be used as new units for hell. The Wendigo is undeniably malevolent in all versions of the legend.
@@Scythian_Noble funny enough the whole demon worshipping Jews thing started because a man asked God for a book of demons that's will let him and his buds build amazing temple for God and they did literally that so technically the chains that hold the demons are Holy
At the moment their are only four factions, I assume we shall see more over time. Not entire sure how the devs would or will go about a faction based on the Jewish faith as so far the "faith" concept has been pretty hand in hand with a geographical connection. This is all pre-WWI, so Israel has yet to be established and the Levant has been utterly overrun by the Heretic forces. It would be incredibly cool, frankly, because like most religions there is some super dank stuff to explore in Jewish faith, tradition, and custom. I would guess we will see some homebrew rules at some point, if nothing else.
@@scannerbarkly so looked further into it they are coming all 3 big Abrahamic faiths will have a faction at minimum and with that in mind Jews would be probably represented as a probably secretive elite faction with Wizards and demon controlling powers if what I think they will do with the history of my people like the monks who hurt themselves to become close to God Christians and redemption through pain makes sense so by the logic of Solomon asking God for a book on demons and controlling them is something that is written about so at minimum Kabbalah wizards with Galils.
The only complaint I have is that the upside down cross is not evil (it's the cross of St Peter) and more tied to lazy hollywood writing. Other than that, the other esoteric symbols are very fitting for a demon cult.
I explore switching up to a more synthy ambient thing, but I definitely can't put up long videos of my own dumb shit sounding voice without something in the background. lol
@@scannerbarkly it’s missing what makes chaos in 40k a reasonable faction: a reason to join. “Some people are just evil” is not enough to maintain a mortal army for 900 years. Especially when the mortality rate of simply living in hell on earth is probably higher than average, much less fighting a constant war. In 40k, chaos can corrupt, seduce, and mislead. But, God teach through irony, so there are some Irony in the miss use of it.
Simple as.
Even chaos still mercifull and kind enough to give their follower a painless and Joy alongside their powerful blessing
Finally someone who actually understands the loreof chaos! I've had to explain nurgle corruption to 9 people
There is no joy in heresy. Merely the exhilaration of plunging into degradation. An illusion for one brief moment before an eternity of empty slavery.
Fuck hell, Fuck the Imperium, Fuck the Faithful glory to Chaos.
Khorne Berserkers go feral if they aren't murder fucking something. Tzeentch can turn you inside out, still alive just cause he thought it'd be funny and Slaanesh, well, it's Slaanesh. Nurgle does hook up his followers by removing their sense of pain but God forbid you piss him off cause he can flip all those pain receptors back on at will. The gods of Chaos in 40k are only going to benefit you if you are a useful tool, once you're not, it's a million times worse than before you worshiped them.
I love that someone accurately drew a basic hose clamp on the gas mask. Hell is very practical it seems.
I'm deffo intrigued by this grim shit. I liked the idea of turnip too but this sounds even cooler tbh. I like the Iron Sultanate
Hopefully we see the minis soon
I can’t wait for books about this setting; this is amazing!
I can’t even comprehend what this world would look like
These vids are cool af
if they don't make this a book, a movie, and or video game
I should just start writing fan fiction
It's a tabletop wargame in the works.

That's what the heretic legions are in this setting, ludicrous and self-destructive fools spiting the world for no benefit.
......i fucking love these grimdark settings, thank you greatly for this popping up on my feed
Something ive noticed, and i dont know much about like christian "Demonology" so idk if thats accurate to ttue christian "Lore" but i find it interesting that the sort of home bases of both beezlebub and the Death spectre guy are the 7th layer of hell specifically. Is this following dante's structure of hell where hell is multiple layers designated for each specific sin, or is it just sort of a vague/not elaborated upon "layered" shape? Also quite like the vid, i was exposed to trench crusade like yesterday by some great art/narration channel i dont remember seeing the name of and then got recommended your channel for lore
there is quite a lot of mentions of "circels of hell" and "layers of hell"
So yeah, safe to say it´s dantes version of hell. or inspired by it atleast
Please keep making lore videos!!!
Love your narration, man. Keep on keeping on. 👍🏻
Loving all the back story and art.

Will there be terrain like the art work being sold or will I just have to make my own stuff?
I haven't seen anything said about terrain, and it seems likely that adding that new area to cover might be a lot for the small team involved.
@@scannerbarkly Gotcha I'll just use my old castle ruin and temple terrain. That oughta do lol. Thanks for making these videos, me and the bois will be watching this project very closely!

Is there any videos on the other faction anywhere?
You can find some lore vids on Trench Officers channel here - www.youtube.com/@a_random_orthodox_Christian
I shall also be doing more vids myself, with one on The Iron Sultanate coming later today. :)

This game gives serious, blood bourne/dark souls/elden rings vibes.
Ive just subscribed to the newsletter and will definitely be jumping on the Kickstarter
The only thing i want to know is can i kitbash GW models and trench crusader models and are they gonna release books on this new addiction of mine ?
Kitbashing is highly encouraged by the devs although they are releasing optional minis for it as well, there is some free rules on their site at the moment but the full book will be coming out on PDF & bound paper after the kickstarter I believe
More chaos than Abbadon the harmless's black legion.

I know you’re likely not intending on plagiarizing, but please do cite the source or reference via a visual indicator when quoting something like the lore sampler. It’ll save you a lot of pain.
I talk to the devs all the time. I think I'm good. For the viewer's sake, anything that is not officially or where I add my own lore I clearly state so in the description. In this one I clearly state it is from official sources.
@@scannerbarklyok cool, just making sure.
Would not surprise me if they had blitzkrieg nezis warriors
Genuine question. Isnt god all poewerful why doesnt he just erase all the heretics from existence? Is it a test for humanity?
It's a fun question, no doubt. The easy answer is that God did just snap his fingers and put everything right, there wouldn't be much of a game to play. lol We can also argue that God does have direct intervention in the form miracles performed by certain troops, certain technological discoveries that inform weapons and armor, and you could even argue that elements of the world such as the Meta-Christ indicate that he is taking action to help.
I think the good thing is that the playerbase will come up with all manner of theories. I like the idea that this is turning mankind into something that it needs to be, one way or the other.
Fake liar god
The creators said it might not be the 'real' god as far as christianity is concerned and they have no intention of giving a clear answer
Mark 13 (kjv)
(it is important to use a kjv, as that is meted out with what is known as the Strong's Concordance, so all the words can be looked up and defined; even though the Bible has a built in dictionary, that is enough, it is the only assembled writings in existence to have such a thing - and that cannot be explained away or disregarded in any honesty. Or an older version. The new "versions" that have newly "sprang up" have been altered in a quite vile way by some quite vain fellows; and there is a penalty that will rest upon them for doing what they have purposefully done. Notwithstanding, GOD promised to preserve His Word to all "Generations" and send teachers, and lo, He has.)
Revelation 22:18-19 (kjv)
Same reason he hasn't in real life I'd guess
I see all these people getting mad about the whole discord thing, and I’m usually the first one to say rip bozo about a company ruining their own image, however, I have 2 reasons why I’m not saying that about trench crusade
1- all the drama happened OUTSIDE the scope of the game, to be frank I couldn’t give a hell about what happened on a forum or discord. I have seen literally no impact on the game that I’m interested in supporting/playing
2-regardless of what developers and moderators think, as long as they dedicate themselves to making a good and consistently performing product, I have no issue with supporting their passion.
Banning racists from your discord is a good thing, nobody wants the reputation 40k has
i'm guessing angels are scarce here for good reason...
According to one of the lore blurbs, an Angel appeared on the battlefield once and it glassed both armies just by being there. So safe to say if the angels get involved it’s game over for humanity.
If Beelsebubba succeeded, wouldn’t the parasites die out with no hosts to feed on?
Yes but that’s kinda the point. The Lord of Flies cares nothing for their minions and wants everything to sicken and die
@@Chaotic_JackalIncludikg himself? My point is there is this implication that the goal is eternal suffering through pestilence. If everything is destroyed, there is nothing left to suffer. Where’s the fun in that?

my people
How are they governed? Is there a king of the earthly domain of hell? Is it pure anarchy?
Hell is broken up into a lot of different factions that all hate each other, so it's actually quite hard for them to get any semblance of real "top to bottom" organization on.
GAME OF THE CENTURY!!!!! :D INCREDIBAL!!!!
are there pagans as a factoin
Not as a detailed faction, as the idea of "pagan" is pretty broad. It's likely we will get stuff that would fall into that category down the line.
Aren't us Irish in this kinda pagan? The rangers like?
@@taibh643 Nope, they’re a part of the Christian nations and provide troops to the Church.
@@taibh643Nope. The Irish are Catholic in Trench Crusade.
I wonder how they will bring other religion into it. Like old African beliefs or Native American
It'd be cool if they did it for both sides. In the sense that on one hand you've got the people on the side of the faithful fighting Hell but Hell's forces are also bolstered by the more monstrous spirits from within the pantheon of the newcomers. Imagine what a Wendigo would look like in this universe.
@@kieranadamson3224Non-Christian religions wouldn't have to automatically be aligned with Hell.
@@NorthernNorthdude91749 of course, that wasn't the point. My point was that different cultures equivalent of demons could be used as new units for hell. The Wendigo is undeniably malevolent in all versions of the legend.

So is there a Jewish inspired faction
I imagine that Seals of Solomon and Kabbalah will be present.
@@____________838 now let's home they are something that isn't a horde army

Honest question. Have you ever read a book that wasn't published by Games Workshop?
@@scannerbarkly touche
I don’t understand why anyone would join the forces of hell, what do you even gain?
Lots of folks are just wankers, and would rather be the boot on the neck than run the risk of being subjugated themselves.
Hell needs a honeypot to explain mortal defections.
