    I was a kidnap victim was I was 13. I was walking to the store( 1976)broad daylight. Man asked me for directions,I turned to point to the place he said he was looking for. He had me so fast.. I mean seconds..I froze til he said don't scream. I went crazy on that guy. I was freakishly strong and he didn't count on that.God and angels definitely there too. I managed to run backwards and got his tag number. They found him just hours later. Teach your kids how to fight like hell. He served 7 years after admitting it. Sobs

    Gotta hand it to the cops, detectives, investigators in these cases. The one who went door to door at the motels with a picture of the girl on the phone, I'd like to buy him dinner. Why? Because when he asked the guy his age, and the suspect was slow to answer, he said "If I have to ask you again, I'll lose my mind!", I felt his suppressed rage start to leak out. He wasn't a "just a cop" at that moment, he was a man, perhaps a father, and completely felt for the victim. Bless him, and every cop like him.

    Imagine being the neighbor in that situation, where the guy next door suddenly comes to your porch and starts shouting your name while he’s holding a kidnapped child

    • @Axxidous
      @Axxidous Місяць тому +129

      I feel like there's also a part of your mind that would think that it's a relative of there's just being rowdy.. Because why would this neighbor kidnap someone and why come to you with them? But your instincts would also at least make you question why you're holding her like that when she doesn't want to, why are you screaming for help? It could be he was rescuing her from a kidnapper. But those are all just immediate possible impressions. I think it also just depends on how well you know the people and their dynamics and how out of place it would be for them, not to mention that he DID seem frustrated and confused by the guy trying to pull open his door like that (as he was trying to keep the door shut) before assessing the situations and realizing HE was the kidnapping.
      Yeah, it might click faster for some more than others. Because some people, even in a situation where they AREN'T kidnapping or doing anything wrong, will still suspect something and cause a scene only to find out that everything is fine. (Which annoys people but also it makes sense, because better safe than sorry).
      Either way, it will likely click regardless of when. And while everyone wants to be the good guy in the situation, I don't think anyone WANTS the situation to happen for them to have the chance to prove it. But if the situations does happen, I can almost imagine the feeling is overwhelming. You MUST do something.

    In that Troy Driver case, there was some evidence that his girlfriend knew what was going on. There were text exchanges between them about the excavator, and even pictures sent between them of the scene. That lead to some degree of belief that she knew. In fact, she tells a story in another video somewhere, where on their first date he took her somewhere secluded and his intention was to murder her. She picked up on his intentions and turned the tables by confessing to him that she also always wanted to know what it was like to kill someone. He not only didn't kill her, but they started dating. They both shared that desire and both voluntarily watched documentaries on serial killers. It wasn't just him. Also, his family had money. Her family didn't. She moved in all of her children and family onto his estate and home, and them turned on him once he was arrested to try and keep the property for herself. There was even some evidence that she knew he was going to commit suicide in prison, and she suggested he follow through with it, because he promised her he would, if ever caught. Not sure why they didn't prosecute her, but she turned states evidence real quick and had hours of stories ready to tell. Just seemed so convenient that she had dozens of stories to help seal his fate. But somehow never felt in danger herself. Because they were cut from the same cloth, I think.

      I'm very impulsive so I wouldn't ever think about the consequences before reacting to something so bad happening to someone I love.
      Which is kinda messed up cause I never stand up for myself (and I've been victim of literal crimes - mostly sexual) but I have gotten screwed up a few times because I fought or attempted to fight someone off because they were disrespecting people I love/loved at the time.
      I get completely animalistic. Nowadays I TRY to fight off verbally first. But not so long ago (I'm 26, so I'd say up until I was 22yo) I would straight up go to physical aggression. Most of the times I lost the fight and didn't end up getting worse because other people interfered.
      For example, in a manifestation of the Med Students of my Uni we "closed" 2 of the 3 lanes of a street and one man decided to honk his horn instead of passing to the available lane (like everyone else was doing) and I confronted him verbally (screaming), the other students just gave him way, but I stood there, I beat and kicked his car and when he left the car to beat me we were both dragged apart before touching by everyone else around.
      He could've shot me. But that didn't come to my mind. I didn't care. Because he was being disrespectful even when the other cars gave him space to cross lanes, even when we backed a little to give him MORE space. He just didn't want to do that because he wanted things his way.
      Guess I wanted things my way as well so...
      I'm not saying I'm right or a saint or strong. I'm saying I lose my mind very easily when I'm in such situations. And this wasn't even about someone I loved but about a cause I'm passionate about.
      I am Borderline and generally I will act irrationally in some occasions.
      I'm not "normal" nor "Rambo", I'm straight up insane.

They have rules in place that the person paying must present valid photo ID, what does it hurt to require a form of ID for the child? Only a close relative would have such an important document, that’s the point. They wouldn’t be calling every single time a family showed up with kids. They would obviously be looking for particular situations. Usually if you’re with a minor you’re not supposed to be with and get even a little pushback, you’re going to try and leave. Everytime I saw blood (even my own) I felt a shock feeling, would jump and scream. It was embarrassing and humiliating because I didn't know what was causing such a reaction until a therapist put the 2 together only about 3 years ago (I'm in my late 30s). The flashbacks to that night never go away and seeing this stuff happen to others hurts so much and memories flood in again. BUT if they're already suspected of something and they have that trait, then that trait certain supports the speculation that they are guilty.
