Love the videos just bought my 3rd Subaru rencently, getting some good info. From your Chanel. Thank you and looking forward to more.
I am happy to help, and it is okay to say my actual name since I use it on all of the forums and on Facebook. ;) The belt was not OEM, but it is at least a Japanese manufacturer as you noted. I have recently switched over to Mitsuboshi branded belts as they also include the interval change sticker and they cost approximately the same.
Well that certainly explains the lack of content on this vehicle, I have been waitng!!!! Sorry to hear of your troubles, big bummer. Good on you for lovin up that kitty.
Order my parts right from Japan , gave up on 99% of the state side sellers .The Mitsuboshi timing belts for these clover 4 motors are made in Thailand . OHNO Rubber is a OEM supplier for all the Japanese manufacturers so you got OEM without the Subaru packaging
Looking forward to seeing the repair videos on the Sambar. Been watching your videos for quite some time, and my 99 Outback and 2006 Legacy say "Thanks!"

Sambar update, rock on! Subaru rage, watch out! I would have been livid as well with regards to aftermarket vs OEM parts. Lessons learned, sh*t happens! Cute cat, ppl can be so cruel!
Awesome kitty, thanks for the info, I've been on the fence for buying a sambar or similar (suzuki) for a bit. Always use made in Japan parts for Japanese vehicles, in the late 80's,there was a chinesium version of timing chain for the 22r toyota that would stretch and explode shortly after installation.
The first easiest way to put hands on genuine parts it's have a friend who lives in Japan and ask for the favor. Another way to buy at monotaro site. But I worked at Subaru assembly line for a long time and, believe, from years lot's of parts comes from china and are not 100% made in Japan
hey our dollar is not that cheap, its up to 79 cents US as of today. There are a few Sambars and other odd Subaru's my area, Sault Ste Marie and Sudbury Ontario. In Sault Ste Marie the local post office has a collection of RHD JDM cars, including a 1994-98 twin turbo 2 litre Legacy wagon which I believe is rated at 280 HP. The postmaster has an Canada market STI. There are a few Sambars in Sault Ste Marie, and one in the town of Spanish, and I think it was this one holding up traffic on highway 17 (the Trans-Canada highway across Ontario) over the Christmas break, had more than a dozen trapped behind him doing 80 kph...
Dear Mr. S., Pls do not get a heart attack. I enjoy your videos. As Jim Bluchi God bless his soul would say ' Don't get mad get even'. Mention and drag their name to crap.
love the Canadian jokes, good to see that you have a sense of humour in a frustrating situation, especially if you did have an aneurism and might of had to get your US insurance company to pay up instead of our single payer government system in Canada, been their done that in both systems lol! Not a lot of fun being hounded by bill collectors while the insurance companies wait for the other insurance to pay their part. ps love the cat, cute
RIghtdrive is trash, they're well known here in Ontario to be shady. I've tried out kei trucks from them before but never bought, they always ask more than twice the amount for a truck you can import with a broker in the same condition so why bother? Cool showroom though, been there in person.
Good rant. I have issues with Yokohama and Right Drive. Yokohama says their sales men are trained mechanics. Ha. I made the mistake of saying Danko book is a joke and no mechanic could use that book to repair anything. Service went way down after that comment. They also charge high dollar for OEM and send aftermarket. They have terrible service. And will not get back with you on any parts that are paid OEM and shipped after market. Right Drive is very expensive and a wait list for a crazy 800.00 for a windshield (3-6 months) I explained that a 2002 sambar is a utility vehicle:purchase options of a cigarette lighter and an AM radio to work in the affordable budget of a workforce making 10.00 a day. Not A U.S. similar model year luxury vehicle whose windshield would be 450. U.S. installed. I use G&R in Missouri they are fair priced fair service. My last purchase with Yokohama Motors included CV joints, struts, tie rod ends, ball joints, Front rotors, and brake pads. Plus some small box fillers.( That's when I figured out every item shipped seperate or in same box was 40% added shipping to item cost) wish I had known of G&R prior to long Yokohama wait for very overpriced parts. And wrong parts shipped for another long wait to correct. A person buying these imports had better really love them. (I do)
I got sambar parts from right drive parts, and there website had an error that told me something went wrong at checkout and to try again. Tried it again same thing same problem, checked my email, found 2 purchase confirmations, called them and explained eventually they canceled one of the two identical orders, Other than that the parts were all I needed for an ok price.
Dump the kitty on the next farm 🤣😂🤣😂 Just kidding is Garfield in tha house or is the farm or sambar well the good thing you have company when wrenching
Awesome video. Finding genuine parts for the Sambar is tough. It'd be nice to have a reliable stateside vendor for sure. Please tell me you named that kitty Samby!
Well....I am sorry with your experience with this Canadian parts company. I live in Canada....and I only buy parts for my Subaru from US companies. They are superior in many ways. Its sad.....but true....
I live in Canada about 1 hr from their location. I called multiple times, was put on a callback list, sent several emails, filled out a form on their website. Couldn't get ahold of anyone, I assumed they closed. Weeks later I heard from them. I had already got most my parts elsewhere. Had a couple more I wanted, gave them a list, they said sales would contact me with a price... Never heard back. I don't think they want business
Check Quirkparts they got great prices and only oem stuff. For more older japanesse cars I found that Megazip is realy good because they still have lots of hard to find parts or even discontinued parts. Directly ship from japan at a reasonable price.
Mr. Subaru, any advice for a sticky accelerator on my 1999 Sambar (31k km and fuel injected)? I push it down as gently as I can and it goes from zero to 40% instantly. It's like real sticky. I tried following the cable to the back but am having a hard time finding where the throttle adjustment is. I have a feeling it's in the peddle or close to it anyway. Help me Mr. Subaru, you're my only hope!
Will Subaru dealerships in the US not bring in parts if you have part number? I'm fairly certain I could go to my local dealership (in Canada) and get all those parts if I have part numbers.
I'm pretty sure that the Sambar will be one of your Subaru's you'll never sell. I tried sourcing parts from partsmonster.com Took forever and a day. 4th gen Legacy, got genuine front brake pads and questionable genuine rotors, but sent 316mm rotors and pads. 3.0r stock are 293,even Brembo has them cross referenced wrong. 6 months later... trying to source a pair of front GT Tokico calipers with the front brakes I got stuck with. No more expensive than sourcing quality blanks and pads. I'm hoping you make the Sambar "farm only." Remember that A/C upgrade and dump bed you were talking about. Your new furry friend will help you through those future growing pains. Someone probably dropped the cat off when they saw the Subaru farm... You know Subaru prides themselves on the $24M they donate for animals?
The Sambar is tagged, registered, and insured for highway use here in South Carolina. Been driving it quite a bit. So not farm use only, in this case. But does have a farm tag on it. Lol
"let me use them smaller words" died laughing right there. Speaking from experience (owning a JDM subaru WRX) it is not easy finding parts at times WRX sounds easier then the sambar but not everything is easy. Also MrSubaru1387 kitty! or is it MrSubikitty1387? XD

This might be the most Canadian thing I have read in a long while.
Yeah...I've ordered stuff from Japan recently and it took less than a week. Thanks for the info! 👍
Also, cat clips would be welcome 😊
Such a cute kitty lol, These days you can't really get good service anywhere.
I'm glad Monday delivered something good. 👍
Good on you for adopting the cat. He had a intresting meow. 😆

Exactly.
