I have the edger, blower and hedge clippers. I definitely agree, you need more than one battery. Instead of buying a battery and charger, get the blower with the battery and charger, it doesn't cost that much more and you'll have a great blower.
I’ve used a few other edgers over the years. I’ve had similar results with them all. For quick work and portability the EGO was plenty, It was able to cut through my lawn without issue. When hitting Bigger rocks in the ground it did stall but that may be as expected.
You must be using it quite often. My blade is slightly rounded as well, I used a grinder to flatten it out a bit, but without seeing yours it’s tough to tell. Replacement blade is $15. If you need one go pick one up Lowe’s or ace hardware.
@@martinpena2436 manual wouldn’t tell you, again, it’s completely based on how often it’s used and what medium it’s going through. I’ve had mine over 2 years and same blade. Depending on how often you use it and how rocky or sandy your soil is wear would obviously be greater.
It will work fine assuming there aren’t a ton of rocks. Mine can run for 20- 30 minutes continuous with the 7.5 amp battery I have. Only issue is cut is as wide as the blade so might have to make a couple passes
Thanks for your reply. I was thinking I could make a longer blade, alter the guard and cut a 4" depth. I only have a 5amp battery but should only need to cut around 150' long trench wide enough to bury a cable.@@IllGetMyTools
@@robbydockery1272 the longer blade will require more torque to cut through 4 inches so just be sure to run a couple passes at 2 and then the 4 inches… not saying it won’t work in a single pass but in case it doesn’t don’t be mad at it it wasn’t built for extended cut and blade
That makes sense. I think I will make 3 passes to be safe. Still a real time and back saver. Thank you so much for this awesome video and all your great advice.@@IllGetMyTools
I used my EGO Edger for the first time and it worked fine for a few minutes then the blade stopped spinning. I checked the battery and it’s still fully charged. I removed the battery and checked the the blade and nothing appears loose or missing. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot the issue?
If it’s not working while spinning freely that’s a mechanical issue. If it stops spinning while working in the dirt sometimes the dirt is either way too hard, your depth is too deep, or there are too many rocks you are trying to get through. It’s a very basic machine so not too many options on what the issue could be
@@IllGetMyTools there’s no obstruction, the blade stops spinning for no apparent reason. The edge that I’m trimming is not over grown or clogged with grass and dirt.
I gave mine away! OMG....Compared to NON multi tool metal bladed edgers...this thing weighs a ton!! It feels like it's made of solid lead..and Im not kidding. Just trying edging with it for an hour and I promise you your arm will be sore :( That said the Ego STRING edger is Fantastic!! The Ego Mower is fantastic...the Blower is great...but wow this metal lawn edger is an engineering joke weight wise.
I can’t say. My family lives in Florida so I know what you’re talking about. This thing is powerful so I feel it should be ok but can’t make any promises. We have hard soils here in new England and it gets the job done.
I just got the edger. I have the other EGO tools and wanted a good edger. I'm sick of the gas powered tools I really suck at using a string trimmer to edge. The edger works great first time every time. If you are converting over to battery powered garden tools, you can't go wrong with this.

Great video, I'm sold. Getting the ego. 😃
Go for it man, good luck out there!
Great video! I just picked it up, didn’t have the power i expected like all my other ego products, but it’s good enough as long as I take it slow.

Hey Ivan, when do you recommend I should replace the blade? Mine has become more rounded than the original rectangular shape...
You must be using it quite often. My blade is slightly rounded as well, I used a grinder to flatten it out a bit, but without seeing yours it’s tough to tell. Replacement blade is $15. If you need one go pick one up Lowe’s or ace hardware.
But normally, how often are they supposed to be replaced? I couldn’t find the answer in the manual.

Ok, thanks. I’m fairly new to landscaping and gardening tools. Everywhere I’ve lived, they always had gardeners.
How well would this Ego work for burying low voltage wire at a consistent 2.5 in.? EX. Invisible dog fence or even rg6 coaxial lines.

i have the trimmer so the battery would work??
The ego batteries are interchangeable for all ego products
Is that the same battery as the ego blower battery ?
All the ego batteries can be interchanged with all ego products
Will it cut tough st augustine grass?

It should go through St Augustine. It works in our heavy clay soils in Texas
I just need that lawn now! #manstuff
Now damn you, now!!!
Yessir great
We have Edger Blade that may fit your edger. We can provide for free. Do you need?

I’ve myself had a number of gas tools over the years…. These ego tools are definitely great replacements overall for the homeowner
150. For the charger plus 250 for battery plus 160 for trimmer
I bet EGO would like to delete this video
Why would they want to delete?
Why no demo of the tool? Can only mean it’s not effective…,
Thanks for not watching the whole video and complaining, go to the 9:50 mark Kenny Payne
