    Don’t forget to get the plastic/nylon spacer that goes behind the lower mounting tab of the headlight assembly, where it bolts to the fender. It keeps from putting too much pressure on the glass and also doesn’t bend the tab and warp the chrome ring. Also an allen button head would look better and less likely to be removed by thieves!

    They look great. I haven’t seen head lights in that good of shape since the 80’s.

      I was surprised at how clean they were. Just a little dusty.

    Hi, great video, Does it work in a VW Bus Split Window?

    • @OldVolksTV
      @OldVolksTV  3 роки тому +1

      Yes! This will work with ANY car with a 7" headlight. If you're not sure, you can ask them and they'll make sure you get the correct bulb.

      Unfortunately this car doesn't have a battery yet. As soon as it's got power I'll post a pic.

    So since you’re converting the 63 to 12V, can you make a video of what’s required? How to do it and where to buy the kit? I want to convert my 65. Thanks

      I just do the bulbs, alternator, coil, and add a 6/12 adapter to the wipers. The horn and the starter stay 6v because they work better that way.

      @@OldVolksTV do you change the choke to 12v ?

    • @OldVolksTV
      @OldVolksTV  3 роки тому

      Haha. Yes. I always forget about the choke because I like the dual carbs

      Wolfsburg west sells a 12v wiper motor to replace the 6v.

      Well sure, if you have extra cash laying around 🤣. My bus still has a 6v wiper motor and a full bottle of rain-x

    LED is awesome technology. Makes a huge difference on my vintage motorcycles. I have thought about using an amber lens on my old bikes. The one thing that drives me crazy is the color temperature - it is super bright white vs. a more natural light. I've read that the lack of availability of a warmer color temperature is simply due to the lower cost of manufacture vs. availability or technology. That irks me a bit because the components cost next to nothing, yet the marketing and packaging is what adds cost. I would pay 3x as much for the LED component with a better color temp, but that is not even an option. I guess that is just the way it is these days. :-(

      Vintage car leds has a model with interchangeable lenses on the bulb itself , so you can get that warm white or cool white easily. You can even change them out easily if you want to.

      @@OldVolksTV Thanks yes a gel slip cover for your LED is an option for sure.

      These are little glass lenses that snap into the bulb itself.

    So I'm ordering some of these for our 64 bug, I didn't see, did you get the hella lenses and are the 3500 series fairly bright, and is there plenty of room at the back of the bucket for the bulbs?

    • @OldVolksTV
      @OldVolksTV  3 роки тому

      Yes, yes, and yes. The 3500s are super bright, and the Hella lenses direct the light where you want it. They're designed to fit in the bucket and the heatsink keeps them cool.
