The book is epic. The movie really didn’t move me much because it was so boring and PG-13 safe. And then some years later I read the book, and in only a few chapters I grew to really dislike the movie. And it angers me that it seems more well known than the way the book should be.
The book was so “hot” that Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio had a bidding war over the property rights before it was even published. Brad Won obviously and it’s actually been a cursed project for him at basically every level. It took over a decade for him to even start its principal production. The script had endless rewrites financiers, actors, production companies kept backing out. It was a his eternal nightmare even during filming there were major problems that halted production. It was so bad that they even rewrote and reshot and completely different ending from the original. They literally rewrote/reshot more than half the film in-fact. This should have never been a movie what it should have been was a mini series on HBO. It’s written episodically anyways it would have been perfect. The only thing remotely similar to the source material is the title.
Honestly I think an animated series would serve World War Z better than a film. Make it hand drawn animation and have every entry be the stories that these people told. Literally have it be an animated historical piece in universe.
@@wwzaudible where can I download the full audiobook if you don't mind me asking, rarbg got shut down sadly I mean what's the specific I should look for since there's also other audiobooks out there
Read this then saw movie and I was really disappointed. I thought I was in for a visual telling of this masterpiece and it was LITERALLY just the same title and that's it. The ONLY thing that the movie and book had in common was Zombies and a big wall in the middle east. That's it. Absolutely nothing to do with the book whatsoever. I hope someone actually makes a movie based on World War Z because the Brad Pitt deal wasn't it.
I was also so disappointed in how they made the movie. I recognized some names and places, but that was it. WWZ - the film - isn't a bad film if it was independent but they had to connect the book to the movie which made it bad. As a standalone film, I think it's quite good. As a retelling of the book? It's abysmal. And disappointing. I was really hoping the way they'd go with it would be Gerry interviewing a bunch of people and as they're recounting their experience, it flashes back to what they're recounting. I was so excited by that. But then... we got WWZ; a movie based on a book in the sense that they just took the title, a couple character names and places, and zombies. And not just zombies, but fast zombies. Makes no sense. Good movie... if standalone. GREAT book, regardless.
Thanks a bunch, its the most well read playlist of book, I enjoyed it, I did notice some parts were missing however. Will you be making all chapters some day?
Bought this audiobook on my phone. Worth it.

You should see the game. Despite being in-universe with the movie, it manages to be more faithful to the book.
Romero actually hates running zombies.
