I studied abroad in Bregenz 20 years ago. I’ve want to go back. Es ist einer wunderschönen Stadt. Studying abroad there was one of the happiest times of my life.
I also s.tudied in Bregenz in the summer of 1986, and it captured my heart from the first day. I noticed the mother said she had lived at #2, but that she doesn't recognize the building. I wonder, if that was 2 Kornmartkstrasse? A wonderful family housed US students there for decades. The house had been in the family since the 1200s. When the Bodensee came up to the front door of the several storey house, merchants of yore would peddle their wares in a boat at the front door, hence the name Kornmarktstrasse, where various vegetables were traded. It's true the town has changed quite a bit. My hostmom, who had hosted students at the above address moved into a smaller place, since all her own children moved away from this gem. Thank you for bringing back my time in Bregenz. I can't wait to retrace my steps and discover the new.
WOAH! That's so cool to hear you studied there too. It sounds like that could have been the place my mom was at. I passed along your message to her. Thanks so much for sharing.
@@TouristtoLocal Awesome. I am glad you enjoyed your short time there, and that Bregenz holds a special place in your mom's heart. It rests forever in mine. In fact, I consider my hostmom my real mom. I still communicate with her often.
2:45 - To answer your mum's question: Before World War I, Austria and Hungary were in a Dual - Monarchy (the so called Austro - Hungarian Empire), meaning we were under same governance by the Habsburg Monarchs. This Empire formally included countries we now know today as Croatia, Hungary, Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia (Czech Republic), Bosnia & parts of Poland among others (at the time it was the second largest European Country if I remember correctly). Naturally, since our cultures have been intertwined for very long periods of time, the Hungarian, Czech, etc. cuisine can be found all over Austria and vice versa (you will find a Schnitzel and similar Austrian dishes almost anywhere within those countries). To this day, the residents of the eastern Austrian provinces and cities, such as the capital - Vienna, often carry (what one would now view as) typically Hungarian surnames, so the cuisine is only one of the many cultural enrichments that were carried over to our modern times. Anyhow, glad to see you enjoyed your trip! (:
Strangely enough the Mom says she doesn't know WHY they incorporated Hungarian food in Austria! It is because it was the AUSTRIAN-HUNGARIAN EMPIRE! I...AND btw, Bregenz always was and has been a destination town- even 30 or 40 years ago and long before, exactly because it is a lake town!...Other than that, great travel vlogs ! :)
Hello my name is Tarik. I live in Turkey and I won the Erasmus exam. So I can do an internship abroad. But I need to find a workplace abroad. My cousin sits in the Feldrich. I want to go to him and do an internship at Bregenz. I'm studying electrical and electronics engineering. I was wondering if you could help me find a place to work or show me the way.I like Bregenz myself and I would like to do a 4-month internship on my department here. I don't need to pay any fees.
