hello everyone! this is the quickest i have ever made a video because i knew i had to jump on this topic immediately. i apologize for any grammatical errors in what i say, there are a few parts where i mess up while talking but it's either unnoticable, or doesn't impact the message im trying to get across. i was making subtitles originally on the youtube page, but i accidentally pressed a key on my keyboard which just so happens to be a hot key to twitch. in pressing the button, i had erased everything i had just written. i was 11 minutes into the video. (crying) i'll probably end up doing the subtitles again, but it literally took me AGES so it might be awhile until they are up, and you'll need to use the stupid auto-generated ones that youtube did. i know- i hate them as much as i you do, lmao. after all of this, i need to recover from this as i am heart broken and in despair, lol but, thank you all for watching anyway! much love to you and i hope you have a great rest of your day
Here we go again.. I've been a kpop fan for so long and I've seen my fair share of young idols, even years ago, but under 10 is stretch. I'm anxious for these kids. Clearly those CEOs do not have any good intentions for the future contestants even if they are giving the viewers what they want. I'm glad you covered this, though. Amazing video from you again!
This is just child labour. Being an idol is a full time job, not a 9am to 5pm job, sometimes it could even be like 5 am to 9 pm. And there's no question of 'oh but what if it's their dream, they want to be idols'. They can choose to be idols, but can they choose to leave the industry when they can no longer take it? Becoming an idol is like falling inside a well, getting out is pretty hard. Even without the s*x crimes, mistreatment, and bullying that exists within the industry, this is still unethical.
another worse thing to think about towards these kids is that they’re NOT EVEN FINISHING SCHOOL!!! they NEED to complete their education (or try to) and AT LEAST get a good degree if they can.. it worries me knowing that there’s some kids out there trying to be idols without actually having a high school degree for any job and a backup plan OR DROPPING OUT OF SCHOOL COMPLETELY when the idol path won’t solve everything (and yes i know that there’s idols that go to schools like hamlin and sopa but i’m talking about ACTUAL HIGH SCHOOL!!)… IT’S OK to have a regular job i promise you.
a backup plan should be a necessity, i really hope all of these people have plans to go back to school like some contestants do. im glad some contestants go back to regular school though. but i am worried just as much as you because missing out on school can set you back, even if it’s one year. hell- missing one week of highschool is hard to catch up. possibly having to play catch up and forgetting past lessons is seriously bad
@@belllievia I ABSOLUTELY AGREE!! backup plans are always necessary when things don’t work out so it’s a good thing to consider going back to school, especially if you can afford it. and yeah, the workload is definitely twice as hard when you haven't gotten through the material.. it might take a lot of effort and motivation but i do believe that they can get back to where they started with enough resources and help from peers, even if help is something that they might struggle with!
i have a few things to say: one really worrying thing for me is that all these kids will be on this show because their parents want them to be, and they could be unknowingly signing up for major mental health problems and a long contract that's hard to get out of. maybe some of the 13-15 year olds are there of their own volition, but they're still so young that they haven't had a chance to explore other career options, or really think about how hard it'd be to be an idol. also, these producers should realise that there are ALREADY kid kpop groups. yeseo from kep1er was in one. and are these groups of 5 and 6 year olds topping the charts? hell no! with the whole really young idols thing in general, i think that a part of it is how young the fans are. when i was younger & groups were debuting with members my age who were far too young to debut, i knew it wasn't right but still enjoyed the content of those groups bc they had an element of relatability. now that i'm a bit older, i fully agree that super young idols shouldn't be debuting. all we need to do is look at people like BoA, who debuted at 13, and is now saying that no one should debut that young! hopefully some day all this will stop.
i really hope that most parents out there can see things that go in on the kpop industry. i do worry that some toxic parents will take advantage of the kids with dollar signs in their eyes. one thing i am glad about is that more young kpop fans are aware of the horrible idol life, thanks to youtube and other platforms where we can spread awareness. but, it's also very common to meet someone who's dream is to be in the industry, i see it all the time on reddit or tiktok where kids talk about their dreams. i hope that they will realize soon that it's basically a death wish in a microphone. but, you're point of view is a great addition to what i was thinking and im so glad you commented! i love knowing what everyone thinks and hearing what they have to say makes my day.
At 8:48 when you said that (obviously not because of you) I had to pause and groan. Trust me if a 19-year-old is “too old” for this industry when many people still see 19-year-olds as kids (teenagers with more legal rights) we have a problem. The strange adultification of minor and barely legal kids and teenagers is scary to me.
oh my god totally!! its really worrying because if people see 20, 25, 30 as too old, then what do they think of 17, 16, and 15 year olds? people who think like this are wild and their perspective on age really needs to change, because it puts too much pressure on 17 year olds. we cant expect them to act like adults but people always do because they are seen as mature in kpop.
@belllievia what has always irked me is when they call a whole child's visuals stunning or when they call the youngest of the group the prettiest it always gets me to side-eye them.... girl what do you mean by that? Whenever I criticize new jeans debut ages I always have to sit down and think about what I just said because I am younger than two of the members and Danielle is only a couple of months older than me so I feel like a bit of clown 💀. I would be on the younger side of the lineup so sometimes I have to sit there and humble myself. But jokes aside yeah it's kind of crazy how they expect a 3-year-old to debut what are you looking for in a 3-year-old I am confused and concerned.
This just makes me want to boycott survivals all together. Like this is the final and last straw tbh. This is just messing with human safety and I'm not here for it. None of these kids can technically agree and consent to this AT ALL. It needs to stop and whoever will still watch this show, I will heavily bombasic side eye you. Sorry. You are the problem. Thank you, via, for this video to raise awareness!
i FULLY agree. ive always said that children shouldnt be allowed because they havent developed enough to make huge decisions like this, and cannot consent. i cant imagine the amount of sneaky paperwork and contracts within survival shows that you really have to read in between the lines to make sure your safe. like- 24 hour days?? filming the same performance over and over with no breaks? yeah absolutely not 😭
LMFAOO THE INTRO but really the producers and ceo's only care about themselves, and it makes me sooo frustrated. why can't we have a normal person with morals ever running anything anywhere
Idk who you are, but I will watch this later since I cannot atm. You bringing up this "Under 15" thing is great because I didn't know about it, and I know about or learn about lots of different survival shows considering my love for finding new artists in the korean music scene, knowing lots of groups and subbing to lots of channels who distribute new songs daily. Thank you for making me aware of this sick show, because seeing the picture you put at the start, I can already tell this is messy. But hey, I won't be watching because I never cared about survival shows even ones like peak time where boy groups that I actually like participated. I hope this show fails, because how is a 3 year old, old enough to be an idol????? First off all they can barely speak and are just learning to speak and maybe properly walk), second of all if they were from my country they wouldn't even be in the first grade yet (I started school when I was 5 years old). It truly baffles me how low of an age kpop survival shows are willing to allow on their shows, because the one survival showing "uptoyou' having an 11 year old was already bad enough, but here we have 3 year olds? What the actual fuck? I'm gonna subscribe to you. I should watch more commentary, because I like them but never watch them often.
I hope this show gets sued because kids at the age there going towards ain't ready for the freaking trauma dark side of kpop and the anxiety that comes with it 😢😢.
I also think that kpop stans REFUSE to take accountability for being one of the markers that kpop execs use to make decisions. it's important to be introspective and understand that stanning young kids only makes kpop companies want to debut them more. no more streaming groups that are built on child labour, end of.
I was wondering what to comment, how best to express what I'm thinking and feeling. Yet no particular complaint could sum up the wave of disgust and revulsion I have just knowing someone is actually planning to put this "project" into existence. I can think of nothing more than criminal prosecution for all involved.
Couldn't have said it any better. This survival show is going to be a "now or never" moment for viewers. If this won't get people to stop supporting underage idols, I don't know what will...

That's okay! You speak very clearly so I see no problem. But, they would be nice.
Kids have no idea how long the subtitles can take T_T Such hard sympathy. I, too, would cry.
You’re an actual predator if you’re willing to stan someone who is 3 y/o
no really if i see any comments anywhere talking about how attractive a 3 year old is i might implode

My one flex in life is that I've NEVER watched a survival show
keep it up ur doing great!! LOL
Same for me it's annoying

On top of having a backup plan it’s just sad that they’re uneducated and working from such a young age will negatively affect their growth

That show should be boycotted

the fact that companies are doing their best to cater to predators is so gross. is this also not just child labour atp?
3…? Wtf
Yeah I'm definitely not going to watch that show... I can't support something like that
how are their parents even agreeing with this
