IT tips this week: Leaving your PC on prevents voltage spikes and keeps temperature, can be good but with new parts or a surge protector you should not even have those issues. Turning it of not only saves power, it keeps lifetime wear of harddrives, CPU and fans up. I not always turn my PC off, because it's also my media server, but usually every night.

There’s a brewery, there’s a manor with a bunch of horses, a college that’s the second biggest in the Gothenburg region, UPS postal center, there’s like 3 gyms, 5 grocery stores (for some reason, not that many people living here), a very beautiful graveyard with close proximity to a play yard with bunnies, there’s a bus station too

@Crendor Regarding mosquito bites, I, by accident discovered that if you use a disinfectant (like the stuff you used for your hands when covid was rampant) it'll do magic. The disinfectant that I have has isopropyl alcohol in it. Still not sure why it works so well, but maybe it kills the bacteria that cause the inflammatory reaction on your skin or somethin'. Cheers! 😁
Edit: You basically just spritz it on the bite mark (just like you would when sanitizing a cut/wound) and you can also rub it in with your finger. That's it. And the effect is very quick - it stops itching almost instantly and disappears much faster too. I know it works, because where I live we have like 2 acres of marsh not far away and the skitters are a plague. Our lousy city mayor didn't spend a dime on killing them skitters so now everybody has to do "the dance" to not get eaten alive by them.

Weather Request: Hey there, I already asked for a weather request for the Attack on Titan town in Germany, if you remember that one. But since I moved I need a new one. This time for Augsburg Germany. A nice medium sized town with a lot of culture stuff to do like the Augsburger Puppenkiste. Which is an old marionette theater. Also for all those weird coin traders you can learn how to trade real coin with Jakob Fugger who got rich by doing that before it was cool. Ah yes and since you seem to like good food .. Graphics cards on eBay right now are most likely ex miner ones, bare in mind these cards are basically ran at 100% all the time. Normally I’m a cluster of cards which is pretty insain heat.
For those wondering why. Eth is no longer minable, the reason being is 90% of Eths energy consumption was mining. There are other mineable coins, but most with smaller rigs aren’t going to point to them. And unless you have a small factory BTC isn’t worth it.
Weather Suggestion for Aberystwyth, Wales (Ab-ur-ist-with, though the last syllable rhymes with "smith" rather than "with"). Suggesting as I'm heading back there this week to start my PhD as I completed my undergraduate degree there a few years ago. Its a lovely coastal town not far from Tywyn, which you did a few weeks ago, though in Aberystwyth's case about 2/5 of the population are University students. Local sites include the castle, funicular railway, the Vale of Rheidol heritage railway to Devil's Bridge and the Red Kite sanctuary where you can see dozens of red kites descend down at feeding time.
There are a lot of nice restaurants though the one you might find most interesting is Paprika, a Hungarian place which is a bit overpriced, but you can get Chimney cakes which are made by wrapping cake batter around a metal tube and then spit roasting them,

so the mosquitoes go for your ankle because it's not only a clear area for them to land but it's also one of the best spots to get blood.
Crendor is right to an extent - turning electronics on and off does cause wear and tear, especially for things like fluorescent lamps. However, it's only really true it you're repeatedly turning them on and off many times over a short span of time. If you're leaving a room and turning off your fluorescent lamps, only to return 20 seconds later, you would've been better off leaving them on. But if you're going to be gone for longer than that, turning them off is better, both for wear and tear, as well as power usage. The same is pretty much true for computers. You're better off turning the pc off for a few hours than leaving it on, but you're better off leaving the computer on than restarting it every couple of minutes.

I was thinking we need a Hank the Tank Kabob. Take a Big mac stuff it full of nuggies and fries. Then douse the burger in BBQ sauce. Put on a kabob, then put an apple fritter above it then anther Big mac combo, fritter, Combo and voila. A Kabob fit for a king.
Burger King has drastically changed! I think it was around 2012 when they did a huge rebrand. Initially, I thought it was only a graphical brand update, but all of their ingredients changed, too! The Whopper literally didn't even taste anywhere close to its old version.
Great thing about Vivaldi is tab stacks, which I suppose is called tab groups in other browsers. Pretty neat to just keep your obsessions separated.
EDIT: Oh dear, Imma do a lot of editing today: I also recall a time when I thought it was a bad idea to turn off your PC all the time, like it'd cause more tear and wear than just keeping it on, but I believe the technology is better now, also, electricity is pretty pricey here in Denmark this autumn/winter indirectly due to the Ukraine "special operation". And just like Jessie, I too turn all that hibernate and sleep shit off. With 64 GB of ram it feels like a waste of SSD space to dump all of you memory into a file just to boot up faster - but at the expense of like 3% SSD space (64GB out of 2048GB drive), it doesn't feel worth it.
And finally: Fucking displayport was supposed to be out saviour, but ALAS! dumb Windows has amnesia whenever any displayport device is turned off by the power source, even the button on the monitor, and just REMOVES it entirely from windows, and pushes your windows around! So dumb! But they have the gall to call it a "feature".. Anyway, HDMI devices can actually be set up to work like DVI monitors and actually be remembered by Windows, and for the rest you'll need to install something like "PersistentWindows" if you want Windows to move back your windows from whenever you turn off your DisplayPort monitors and turn them on again later. Since I'm a windows 10 user, I don't know if this has been fixed in windows 11, but I've heard rumors that they have, so maybe it's not a problem for anyone else?
EDIT2: Peppermint oil is a clear winner for me regarding keeping mosquiters at bay. I wouldn't be surprised if lavender works against mosquitoes as well, it works pretty good against most other bugs like moths.
It's definitely worth considering sleep mode on your PCs Jesse, you still get the power saving benefits while being able to resume everything where you left off. With Wake-on-LAN you can even remotely wake your computer up if needed.
pro tip i learned a while ago is that if you take a metal spoon and run it under hot water to get it real hot then press it against the bug bite itll stop itching and go away, though you gotta get it like really hot to actually kill the bacteria so air on the side of caustion cause its gonna hurt but dont actually burn yourself
B-dubs was great like pre-2010-ish, but I tried to go back a few times over the years and it is just expensive garbage. Especially take-out. For every take-out order, I was there waiting for the food to finish, and then opened it immediately in the car, and had soggy gross everything right off the bat. Soggy fries, chip, fried pickles, and somehow, soggy wings... Just bad.
"Back in the day", when there were only a few BW3s, we had a local one with a cajun cook and we would ask him to make the blazin' wings hot. Whatever he did to those wings was amazing and caused the most painful morning bathroom breaks I've ever had.

I put my computer to sleep when I'm done. It's basically off but can be used immediately without waiting for everything to boot and stuff to load.
I also have like 80 tabs all the time. I got a nice add-on that puts them into folders so I only see a few tabs those folders. If I don't leave the tab open I will forget about the thing for awhile, or they're thing I look at all the time. I forget about bookmarks, idky.
I remember having to wipe down carts (lockdown restrictions and stuff) and I sprayed a cart and was told I was "killing [the customers] with chemicals". Some how the "that product has things that will kill you" hard phases me because of that incident.

Crendor no kidding, I always get mosquito bites around my ankles. They even somehow bite my feet through the fabric of my shoes. Damn plague. Now I have no idea about Benadryl, but one thing I tend to use that works for me is Xylocaine (an ointment). Gets rid of that itching for a good while

My SO and I last did BWW about five years ago. Seeing Wing Stop commercials during the NFL games made me want wings, and we don't have Wing Stop, so decided to do BWW again. Service was trah and the wings were dry and flavorless. It's like the Starbucks of chicken wings- even KFC is better.

Sounds like Crendor might have flea bites and not mosquito bites, I've worked at a veterinary hospital for 12 years and I've had it happen countless times. Fleas get on you and since your body hair isn't as thick as an animals the fleas like to stay somewhere they are protected... like inside the elastic band of your socks where they bite the shit out of your ankles
