As a kid, the two companion bots were one of the highlights in the game. "Aw. Look at that itty-bitty, little turret. Boss, can I kill it? Pretty please?" I was actually hoping to see more of them in future titles.
same. there's a few parts where they've got excellent dialogue in the middle of just running around. sure, there's less 'story' given the whole premise of the game is to do dreadzone's BS until you can break free, but the robots give some cool banter sometimes. like that spiel about how sarge ir whatever swapped memories with a weirdo that's part of the in mission dialogue for one of the first sidequests on the first planet.
Oh the scorpion flail with shock mode. You were so glorious. Nearly every attack was a slow-motion moment. You knew a game was good when the game could barely handle how awesome you were being while playing it.
NEBULA KINKKU I said that too when I saw the RE7 video and had finished the game 7 times.... all the main game achievements.... Madhouse on the first playthrough (preorder bonus)
As someone who's played the series since '02, I personally relished the change of pace in this game. It still had goofy character designs, some of the kick-arsiest weapons in the series thus far, and DEFINITELY the coolest vehicles and suits to date. And let's face it, Gleeman Vox? RADDEST. BADGUY. EVER.
especially loved that the weapons were very moddable. want a elemental effect? fine, you pick. feel like the weapon could use more ammo, go for it. want it to auto aim a bit, feel like it's not knocking things back like you'd like, etc? mod to your heart's content.
I believe Deadlock is canon in the R&C universe. Ace Hardlight pops up in audio clips hidden in the future games, The Isis Super Computer has Ratchet ask various questions in his universe including Deadlock, & Vox has a display in the Museum in Into the Nexus. Only Size Matters & Secret Agent Clank are non-canon.
CheeseTank12 I'm sure size matters is canon since Drek and nefarious were in his dream, along with veldin and endako. secret agent clank is probably canon since slim cognito references how he illegally sells stuff to ratchet
SM & SAC weren't reference at all in the any of the future games, no one brings up anything involving the Technomites & their Army of Ratchets, or keep props of said spinoff like the Shrink Ray or Clunk Vacuum for set pieces for the ItN Museum. Slim Cognito been on the run since UyA for selling a Suck-Cannon mod to a minor + He's reference in the Prison Level in ToD.
I absolutely lost it at the "Run, Ratchet Run!" part. It still haunts me to this day from the 7 million times I replayed the game as a kid. Great job on this one!
Shit I actually played this when I was a kid. And when I say 'play' I mean spending hundreds, maybe thousands of hours on it before selling my PS2 for a PS3. Oh the fun times I had blowing shit up.
You're right about the wrench upgrades but come on, there's one upgrade that sets your wrench ON FIRE! Totally worth the bolts cause who doesn't love flaming weapons?
ironic that most fans found this to be too much of a deviation, cause it was the game that introduced me and my lil bro to the series, and we looooved it! played it in co-op with him so much it took a while before we realized there were helper bots in single player (since they dont show up in co-op) and since then we bought all the R&C games and got super into it. also the 2nd player Jak skin was the first time we ever saw Jak in a game, only a having learned of Jak and Daxter a couple of years later
+hhheeeccckkk526 What sucks about the port is how badly they screwed up the weather cheat. The sandstorm weather doesn't feel as menacing anymore as it did in the PS2 version.
This was the very first Ratchet and Clank game I had ever played and I enjoyed it. Learning from this video, it is a shame more people didn't pick it up if they really did pass on it. :(
FYI! There is a Ps3 port.....i didn't acknowledge its existance for a reason......dont go near it....If you can, get the ps2 version here www.lukiegames.com/Ratchet-Deadlocked-Sony-Playstation-2-PS2-Game.html
My god, you need more subs. You've heard this before, but honestly, everything you make brings a laugh out of me. SEVERAL TIMES OVER. I freaking love you, and never want you to stop being awesome!
Buns, They didn't forget, The Rachet and Clank Future games are RIGHT after it. Hech, they even reference the galaxy they're in....which IS the same one from Deadlocked.
Bumping on all those alpha speed mods on your bazooka while playing on CO-OP was a blast. Sad to know that many didn't like the game tho, played 'em all and honestly it was pretty fun.
Played it and beat the game several times. I got to the point were i had Max bolts you can hold (around 99 mil) and my weapons were all lvl 99 after its "ultra" upgrades with rainbow colors. So many sleepless nights went into the game; best childhood game I've played.
Fun Fact: There is also a Mini-Bomb Omega Mod, you can use this on your B6-Obliterator and Arbiter. Also use the Mini Turret Launcher ONLY for the End Zone... You'll thank me later
Just a little extra tip: If you want to start a new game ALWAYS start it in Cooperative Mode then save and load in Single Player. Do this and you will start with a free B-6 Obliterator saving you 15,000 bolts at the start of the game and a lot of frustration in Exterminator difficulty.
this was my favorite ratchet game on the ps2 because of how fun the guns were made and the fact that you had 2 robots helping you kill things made me really like it. less exploration and more shooting but sometimes less is better.
Pushing aside the old R&C games, this game was very entertaining to play. The gameplay was straight forward but the quirky commentary and the unique kept me playing as a kid. And yeah, so many explosions...
As a guy who's played the life out of Ratchet Deadlocked (I'm literally currently closing in on completing my grind to reach Ratchet's max HP), that Endzone fps joke had me dying cause it's so true. One shot from maxed out shock modded twin vipers is enough to make the game go from 30 frames per second to FIVE per second, ESPECIALLY with the bullet bouncing around madly.
I know that this video is a few years old now but a really good tip is get the dual vipers to as high a level as you can because later on the bullets ricochet off stuff and hit multiple targets before despawning after you get that put the acid mod on them and you will be god like in power.
i played this game as a child and had an intrusive thought about it, so i search it on youtube. lo and behold my favorite buns on the planet made a video about it 6 years ago. my life is complete now.
I paused the video to read what was on that screen anyway and just happened to also pause on that exact frame to see that message first time, without even trying. XD
I love this game, I used to play it with my brother in the coop mode, we fought for the sniper gun every time, good old times, oh and the commentators and the cutscenes were the best
8:37 I've been searching back through your videos for the "IT'S A LITTLE OVERPOWERED, GUYS" in-your-face line 😂😂 That's become a reference/meme for me a lot of times now
If you want, you can unlock these cards for doing certain things. One is for getting all Skill Points, another is for beating all missions on Exterminator Difficulty, etc. Collecting all five (I think, might be more) gets you a super-spicey upgrade that I won't spoil here (partly because I don't remember what it was). The cards might also do things in their own right, by I'm not sure. Either way, they're fun to look at.
Protip! The mission right before the king leviathan, if you charge up the charge orbs to the first stage and then quit a ton of times, then back away, a wave of enemies will spawn for each charge, endlessly. My coop partner and I crashed the game with the shock mod after that. Even Endzone didn't crash the game, but that did. Had to have been hundreds of artifacts. I love this game.
friend of mine got deadlock on release.. we grinded the game the first time in a single session ending at about 7am... during the credits we totally fell asleep. I like the co-op stuff like giving p2 jacks head.. or clanks head! it's fun
Yeah the lightning mod was crazy overpowered, I had it on my maxed out Dual Raptors along with a bunch of ricochet and max ammo mods and I would just rip through enemies like they were made of cardboard. Also, pro tip for any newbies if you can get it the Harbinger ignores Ace Hardlight’s energy shield.
even though this game isint considered cannon, i think its my favorite in the series just because of the pure fun the game brings. i love the weapons and the planets you fight at, and i love the arena/game show aspect of it. just a super fun game.
i prefer this game over up your arsenel but going commando is still my fav. This games co op made it so fun specially on higher difficulty where you actually needed to use some teamwork. The dual viper is my fav gun out of every ratchet game that isn't a RYNO.
I actually really liked this game. Yes, it is very different. But it's a nice change of pace for the series' style, ratchet and clank would probably have decreased in popularity if insomniac kept making the games all too similar. I have a feeling that the devs wanted to make a game for ratchet fans who were more interested in the combat side of the original trilogy, this was also a time period where "edgy" was a popular style in games, that could have also been attributed to Deadlocked's creation.
its funny, because even though a lot of people say that this game wasnt part of the main canon, it is part of it. Tools of Destruction references Ace Hardlight at the Zordoom Prison level as one of its inmates. Enter The Nexus also has a statue of Gleeman Vox inside of a museum.
This game was only acknowledged in into the nexus, and the reboot. The the former, they mentioned the villain, and stated that the channel currently just plays a single episode of lance and Janice on loop. The latter has a handful of the characters as trading cards.
Just finished this game and while getting almost (not the Exterminator difficulty ones) all the skill points was a hassle, the story and gameplay have been a blast
I absolutely loved this game. Sure it was different but it was still gold. Must have played through the campaign more than thirty times. A couple times to beat all the modes, then co-op a couple times, then stupid self-made challenges a couple times, then i got the codebreaker and went through it a few more times. Multiplayer was pure awesomeness. I really hope that Insomniac will bring this game back with functional multiplayer someday.
I remember replaying the Grist of the Mill Dread Challenge repeatedly to farm cash. I can agree that the shock mod was essential. I still own this game, I really should go back and replay the old games, the old R&C games are fantastic but I'll always hold Deadlocked as my favorite of the series.
lol, and have the same "i'm getting tired of talking about the exact same gameplay style" happen again? "it's a ps1 platformer, guys. run around, attack enemies, collect stuff, do physical maneuvers to get elsewhere."
When i was 5-6 years old, i got my ps2 with a game called Jumpack, it was de 13th volume of the game, and was a game with 10 demo's, and ratchet and clank deadlocked was one of them, so, playing again this game was very good and nostalgic. I personally, liked the game.
This game was so awesome :) Not as awesome as R&C 1-3 BUT i still played it for hours on end. It was something different and i really liked it. I wish i could play this again on the vita
I just got done watching ALL of your "for beginners" videos and I'm in tears from laughing so hard. Imma request Ratchet and Clank a Crack for Time and Infamous 2.

I thoroughly loved this game when I was a kid. I like that the new Ratchet and Clank game for the PS4 used a lot of the gameplay ideas from Deadlocked

I remember in the first episode of The Dead Zone a kid got this game as a birthday present and I wanted it so bad after that.
