As a kid, the two companion bots were one of the highlights in the game.
"Aw. Look at that itty-bitty, little turret. Boss, can I kill it? Pretty please?"
I was actually hoping to see more of them in future titles.
same. there's a few parts where they've got excellent dialogue in the middle of just running around. sure, there's less 'story' given the whole premise of the game is to do dreadzone's BS until you can break free, but the robots give some cool banter sometimes. like that spiel about how sarge ir whatever swapped memories with a weirdo that's part of the in mission dialogue for one of the first sidequests on the first planet.
Instead we got 2 goofs in tools of destruction.

Oh the scorpion flail with shock mode. You were so glorious. Nearly every attack was a slow-motion moment.
You knew a game was good when the game could barely handle how awesome you were being while playing it.

As someone who's played the series since '02, I personally relished the change of pace in this game. It still had goofy character designs, some of the kick-arsiest weapons in the series thus far, and DEFINITELY the coolest vehicles and suits to date. And let's face it, Gleeman Vox? RADDEST. BADGUY. EVER.

Definitely had great weapons, the change to have fewer weapons but making them more effective was a great idea
especially loved that the weapons were very moddable. want a elemental effect? fine, you pick. feel like the weapon could use more ammo, go for it. want it to auto aim a bit, feel like it's not knocking things back like you'd like, etc? mod to your heart's content.

Shit I actually played this when I was a kid.
And when I say 'play' I mean spending hundreds, maybe thousands of hours on it before selling my PS2 for a PS3. Oh the fun times I had blowing shit up.
+stefanfr13 Dude I only played the demo as a kid and spent hours playing that single demo. That just speaks volumes on how GREAT this game is.
I absolutely lost it at the "Run, Ratchet Run!" part. It still haunts me to this day from the 7 million times I replayed the game as a kid. Great job on this one!
I believe Deadlock is canon in the R&C universe. Ace Hardlight pops up in audio clips hidden in the future games, The Isis Super Computer has Ratchet ask various questions in his universe including Deadlock, & Vox has a display in the Museum in Into the Nexus. Only Size Matters & Secret Agent Clank are non-canon.
CheeseTank12 I'm sure size matters is canon since Drek and nefarious were in his dream, along with veldin and endako. secret agent clank is probably canon since slim cognito references how he illegally sells stuff to ratchet
SM & SAC weren't reference at all in the any of the future games, no one brings up anything involving the Technomites & their Army of Ratchets, or keep props of said spinoff like the Shrink Ray or Clunk Vacuum for set pieces for the ItN Museum. Slim Cognito been on the run since UyA for selling a Suck-Cannon mod to a minor + He's reference in the Prison Level in ToD.
Actually size matters and secret agent Clank are not canon in the actual series not to mention the developers are different.
@Majime I always thought SAC was during Rachet & Clank 3 where he was actually shooting SAC..?
the reboot also has dallas and juanita. clearly they're canon.

TheCyberPunkDud01 Deadlocked was the second Ratchet game I ever owned (First being the original) and I loved them.
Saaame-well, not the first game I had on PS2 but first in the Ratchet series but I think this is a great game.
Everyone that played it (and wasn't super-biased) loved it.

this was actually the first R&C game i played. out of all the weapons i loved the dual pistols the most. nothing like reenacting the matrix to have a good time :D

EXTRA PRO TIP: under no circumstance should you buy the ps3 port
why?
Dillon Dutkus look up any basic playthough. proxyplaythroughs is a good option. the differences from the ps2 version are crazy apparent
+hhheeeccckkk526 What sucks about the port is how badly they screwed up the weather cheat. The sandstorm weather doesn't feel as menacing anymore as it did in the PS2 version.
Mako Mankanshoku along with tons of graphical, camera, and performance glitches that never existed in the ps2 version and thats just a few
I have both versions, but I 100% the PS3, but I have a a million shitloads of money on the PS2 version, both on challenge mode 10 or 20 or something.
You're right about the wrench upgrades but come on, there's one upgrade that sets your wrench ON FIRE! Totally worth the bolts cause who doesn't love flaming weapons?
and another for completionists that gives ratchet a FLAMING NINJA SWORD.
I played the Ps2 version. it was a fun and unique ratchet and clank game
ironic that most fans found this to be too much of a deviation, cause it was the game that introduced me and my lil bro to the series, and we looooved it! played it in co-op with him so much it took a while before we realized there were helper bots in single player (since they dont show up in co-op) and since then we bought all the R&C games and got super into it. also the 2nd player Jak skin was the first time we ever saw Jak in a game, only a having learned of Jak and Daxter a couple of years later

P.S: Use freeze mod on the dual vipers/raptors. It freaking works.

jakoski No i use the shock mod on the vipers so i can clear out large groups of swarmers.
I loved Deadlocked personally, though I missed clank levels and his jump assistance.

Ratchet Deadlocked had one of the most enjoyable split screen multiplayer experiences i have ever played hands down absolutely no question.
Buns, They didn't forget, The Rachet and Clank Future games are RIGHT after it. Hech, they even reference the galaxy they're in....which IS the same one from Deadlocked.
So is it going to be "Bloodborne" "Life is Strange" and "Persona 4 Golden" next?

This is one of the best Ratchet games. This IS Ratchet 4, can't get over how amazing it was
Ratchet deadlocked feels like the modern ratchet and clank games. With the auto strafing, the stuff blowing up everywhere, and it's FUCKIN awesome.
Pushing aside the old R&C games, this game was very entertaining to play. The gameplay was straight forward but the quirky commentary and the unique kept me playing as a kid.
And yeah, so many explosions...
Michael bay was inspired by it.

This is all I knew/know about the Ratchet series, and I loved this game
My brother and I used to PvP on this game. It was quite fun as we where both pretty skilled at it.
Also all guns got the Morph mod.
Bumping on all those alpha speed mods on your bazooka while playing on CO-OP was a blast.
Sad to know that many didn't like the game tho, played 'em all and honestly it was pretty fun.
My god. The swearing. The yelling. The bad jokes. Everything about these videos screams perfection. Subscribed.

I'm pretty sure I played Ratchet: Deadlocked until the disc caught fire. Funny video! I love your editing style.
As a guy who's played the life out of Ratchet Deadlocked (I'm literally currently closing in on completing my grind to reach Ratchet's max HP), that Endzone fps joke had me dying cause it's so true. One shot from maxed out shock modded twin vipers is enough to make the game go from 30 frames per second to FIVE per second, ESPECIALLY with the bullet bouncing around madly.
I actually really liked mixing things up with the mission aspect. Though I did miss the controls you got from Clank like the gliding.
I hope you do more of these videos for the other ratchet and clank games.

Me and my friend played through Exterminator difficulty Co-op mode a few years ago. Fun times.
Fun Fact: There is also a Mini-Bomb Omega Mod, you can use this on your B6-Obliterator and Arbiter. Also use the Mini Turret Launcher ONLY for the End Zone... You'll thank me later
Just a little extra tip: If you want to start a new game ALWAYS start it in Cooperative Mode then save and load in Single Player. Do this and you will start with a free B-6 Obliterator saving you 15,000 bolts at the start of the game and a lot of frustration in Exterminator difficulty.
I find the minibombs are really good on the Stalker Mines.
For Endzone, magma cannon with shock mod was my way to go

this was my favorite ratchet game on the ps2 because of how fun the guns were made and the fact that you had 2 robots helping you kill things made me really like it. less exploration and more shooting but sometimes less is better.
Insomniac didnt forget about Deadlocked though, there were reference about the event and characters in R&C tools of destruction.
I actually liked its mod system and simplicity. Really helped you advance.

I loved it and have no idea why others don't. It's my favorite rNc despite playing the other games.
I remember playing a PS2 demo version of this, replayed that game to oblivion and with my brother sometimes.
i played this game as a child and had an intrusive thought about it, so i search it on youtube. lo and behold my favorite buns on the planet made a video about it 6 years ago. my life is complete now.

I love this game, I used to play it with my brother in the coop mode, we fought for the sniper gun every time, good old times, oh and the commentators and the cutscenes were the best

friend of mine got deadlock on release.. we grinded the game the first time in a single session ending at about 7am... during the credits we totally fell asleep. I like the co-op stuff like giving p2 jacks head.. or clanks head! it's fun
I know that this video is a few years old now but a really good tip is get the dual vipers to as high a level as you can because later on the bullets ricochet off stuff and hit multiple targets before despawning after you get that put the acid mod on them and you will be god like in power.
I remember in the first episode of The Dead Zone a kid got this game as a birthday present and I wanted it so bad after that.

this was honestly my favorite R&C
Played it and beat the game several times. I got to the point were i had Max bolts you can hold (around 99 mil) and my weapons were all lvl 99 after its "ultra" upgrades with rainbow colors. So many sleepless nights went into the game; best childhood game I've played.
Love this game! First Ratchet game I played, second I game I got for my PS2 and the co op is really fun.. Btw the holoshields and the mines are opop
This game was only acknowledged in into the nexus, and the reboot.
The the former, they mentioned the villain, and stated that the channel currently just plays a single episode of lance and Janice on loop.
The latter has a handful of the characters as trading cards.
This one had a lot of my favorite weapons from the ratchet & clank series. It was also the one that got my younger cousin to try it since there is a tacked on but fun first-person mode and he's one of those people who has has had call of duty dice the first day he played a game... I can't count how many times I've replayed this game comma this one and the 3 ps1 Spyro's
