@@davelanger I can’t say that I’ve seen the same issue. It’s possible that you don’t have enough money in future years. Just because you have cap space now doesn’t mean you do next year or the year after. If you have a lot of back loaded contracts then it could be an issue
I much appreciate the renewable contract piece. I had been confused because I was losing a bunch of players because they were renewable, and I didn’t realize I needed to extend an offer before the renewable phase. Thanks
Also for everyone else here, when they have a renewable contract. They HAVE to resign as long as you offer them something. So what I’ve done is lowball the heck out of them and eventually get everyone ~40-60k salary. (I’ve got some 24-25 yo who’ve been in the minors a while and every year I’m giving them 80% of their prior yr salary.
Love the videos. Awesome content but could you do a video about service manipulation and how to use it to our advantage? What I’ve been doing is I’ll bring someone up for the playoffs and then the following yr, I try to keep them in AAA until end of May ish. Then move them up and can usually extend right after trade deadline. For all star type players, you can usually get an $80 mil/8yr deal that buys out 2 FA yrs. (Basically explain how and when you see 3yrs of renewable vs 1)
I’m doing a mariners franchise and want to extend Julio for a long time. When does it make sense to buyout FA yrs and do a 8+ yr deal? I appreciate that vids and for going into detail about when to buy out Arb yrs but do you ever buy out FA and if so, what’s the downside (if any) of front loading a huge extension on a young superstar
If you want to give a shorter contract than they want, you can give them a shorter contract for more money. This is potentially useful if a potential prospect needs another year or so to develop before moving up to the MLB.
The time frames and reups on the knowledge is dope....Playing as the Yankees and Im bound to send Judge and Sevy their extensions just forget when I could....Gallo is a one year and Tbh I hate him in game besides walks and defense he's just paid too much and hoping to find a better left handed hitter besides Rizzo and no one wants him. Might be crazy but I'm hitting bombs with Hicks but not Gallo and its his stride and its just awkward and hard to learn after 60 plus games still hoping someone bites for my teams attempt to steal prospects.

I'm wondering with being in my first season in MLB The Show 23 now with the Cubs and in real life Marcus Stroman just took a player opt out but in the video game when I look under his profile and I don't see any opt outs what will happen in the game come the end of the season? I look at Bellinger and his contract says he's a free agent but he opted out in reality also today. Is the game just this off or am I walking into surprises is what I'm wondering.

I ran out of money while renewing contacts. Do you get extra money on the off season?
From a conversation I had recently in the comments, the issue stems from current year budget vs future. When signing a guy during the season, you are capped at what you came into the season with. When you hit the offseason, you get more cap to negotiate with. It’s weird
You're limited based on budget. During the season your budget is predicted not fixed. So you usually have about 31 mil in offers during the season, even though your budget may show 60 mil. I have strict way I rebuild franchises with money and honestly only sign guys in season they I anticipate having a great year and high attribute boost.

During the contract extion period you can only spend the 31 mil then you have to wait. But if you haven't signed anyone and have that 31 mil but it won't let you, I have no idea. If their morale is good in the categories I don't see why you couldn't. Maybe a glitch
@@captainactiv Its right when the contract extension period starts. I will have a bunch of players I need to extend and it will say you have no money to sign them. But It will let me sign a 31 million dollar free agent.

Do you know what happens to a player’s contract if they have years left on their deal but they retire? Do you still pay the bill afterwards or does it disappear at the point of retirement?

dont do what i did and sign a 32 year old star reliever to a 7 year 50M contract as a small market team

I have the same issue. I can't extend someone for just 100k yet I can sign a free agent for a max level contract.
Make sure to put in sponsorships . They help with on hand money.

What does the player option do? I noticed it will boost their interest
That will allow the player to opt out of their contract at a certain point, making them a free agent
