This match was just amazing. Yes, Hogan in the States wasn't a master technician in the ring, but he didn't need to do a bunch of flashy moves to garner a reaction. He was a master at having everyone in the palm of his hand, and getting people invested in his matches. Hogan's Wrestlemania X8 match is proof that you don't need to do a bunch of flippy spot fests to get a crowd to react to you. When Rock and Hogan lock up for the first time, that reaction Hogan gets from just shoving Rock across the ring is insane. Also, JR's "He beat Andre The Giant with that move!" is gold. I get that HHH/Jericho had to main event due to the WWF title always main eventing, but in hindsight, Rock/Hogan should've closed the show.
He admitted many times how great the rock was at harmonizing a match so brilliantly. The rock was the best ever, at that, hogan once said. How easily rock could be so flexible and go with the flow so effortlessly to make a great match Hogan said no one was better than rock at that.

Everyone who says the wrestling was bad back then, really has to re-think their words. "Professional wrestling" has THREE main components, promos, wrestling, and characters (STARS). Before the PG era, the order of importance was Stars, promos, then wrestling. Modern WWE has put so much emphasis on the quality of the matches, and it hinders the chance for characters to shine through, and create superstars. There's some AMAZING wrestlers, that can do things NO ONE could do back in the day. Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay, are INSANE in the ring, but they aren't stars. Go up to 100 people and ask who those guys are, I'd say maybe 5 people would know. Now, time travel to 1990 and ask people who Hulk Hogan, or Macho Man are... Or 2002 and ask who Stone Cold, or The Rock are. They were STARS. Wrestling no longer has them.
He right about being able to go. That era as Hulk was awesome to watch through. I grew up through WCW first. Stinger and Goldberg was our hero. Hogan and f'n Bischoff were our villains. Though you have the flashbacks of Hogan's run as the King Face from the last decade, I only knew him then as the Leader of the NWO. Seeing the American Hero come back in the red and yellow and run wild on fools never got old. Even in TNA. Immortal was a trip. Especially when Nature Boy Ric Flair joins them with his own Fourtune stable. As much as people disliked what they did to Impact, moments like that were never going to happen in WWE. Hogan, Sting and Naitch getting some final matches in with their long ass stories reaching back almost 40 years was something that could have only happened in a place like TNA Do your thing, Hulkster. If Ric Flair can smoke weed and do cameos with everyone, you can get away with capping in stories. It's wrestling. Gotta have theater in your stories too
Hogan chats so much shit. Its not even his fault. He's just a story teller...driven insane by having to tell the same stories over and over again. I think he just adds and changes bits just to keep the stories fresh, and to make it more bearable for him.
They did everything they could to make Hulk the bad guy in that match, even having Hulk run Rock over with a freaking truck! But when the music started the fans were rooting for him! Hulk Hogan couldn't be a bad guy in the WWE if he hit orphans over the head with puppies!

John Cena is every bit as famous.
The fans were happy to have Hogan back at WM.
THE POWER OF HULKAMANIA BROTHER!!!!! *posing vs The Rock *
What kind of podcaster makes Hogan hold a microphone?
Probably why he’s annoyed in the beginning lol
@6:53 hulk hogan spinning the dj deck
get a mic stand brother. amzing interview.
Rock v Hogan iconic the best none better
I can't imagine preferring WM18 to X7.
Hogan, Sting and Naitch getting some final matches in with their long ass stories reaching back almost 40 years was something that could have only happened in a place like TNA
Do your thing, Hulkster. If Ric Flair can smoke weed and do cameos with everyone, you can get away with capping in stories. It's wrestling. Gotta have theater in your stories too
I think “slowly I turned” was a I love Lucy skit but I could be wrong, brother
in Toronto we cheer for our fathers heros. Hogtown is all heart!
You: “what were your expectations for the match?”
Hogan: “yeah, uh yeah!”
Hogan chats so much shit. Its not even his fault. He's just a story teller...driven insane by having to tell the same stories over and over again. I think he just adds and changes bits just to keep the stories fresh, and to make it more bearable for him.
Hahahaha
It was fucken Icon Vs Icon, will never happen again.
How you gonna have a 70 year old guy sit in one of those ikea steel chairs for hours. Get some herman millers for the legend!
Best match of all time hands down
They did everything they could to make Hulk the bad guy in that match, even having Hulk run Rock over with a freaking truck! But when the music started the fans were rooting for him! Hulk Hogan couldn't be a bad guy in the WWE if he hit orphans over the head with puppies!
I was always curious what would happen if hogan faced stonecold at WrestleMania 18? Would the fans have turn on him just like they did with the rock?
I don't think so. Steve has a more likeable aura
@@jackhughes7637how and the rock was the people champ
@@teeluc6889 Steve was truly the people's champ. Not by name, but by attitude. Coming from a real red collar family. The guy was more relatable and was pissed off. People love that.
@@jackhughes7637 what is a red collar family 😂The Rock use to get the biggest pops yeah Steve was that dude but the rock could work the crowd like nobody before
@@teeluc6889 He didn't. Steve had the louder reactions and made the most money. That's just how it was.
Pat Patterson calls him Tewwy 😂😂
"what if we do what we planned and the audience farts at it, do we keep doing it??" That's modern wrestling in a nutshell 🤷🏾♂️...
Hogan VS Rock should have been the main event and for the belt.
And Hogan should if won!
To the anti-Hogan smarks…
The Hogan spot wasn’t just being the Champion.
It was being the Champ. It was doing publicity. It was being in meetings selling the company, the brand, the match, and the business.
It was more than just being the champ.
Steve Austin was in the Hogan spot and it almost killed him.
A 2 year run with Stone cold would've changed the biz...
How in the fück can you not call that the number one wrestling match of all time???
Uve got to rmbr he did this whilst inventing electricity, the I phone and all music.
The Rock was can work with anyone, and has put everyone over at some point
I hate watching these kind of interviews they never ask the stuff that people want to no they never no any history or the background to what there talking about 🧐
2:06 HHH been running the company before he was running the company
I hope Kenny omega bucks and the rest of the Indy geeks pay attention to what hogan is talking about
Right? Hogan's matches may not have been flashy, but he at least knew how to get people in the palm of his hand and have people invested in the story side of the match.
It should have been at the end of WM18 though
Unfortunately the crowd was the reason why the nWo fell off off the radar after, and not only that but why we've never had Austin Vs Hogan either. I understand being nostalgic for the guy but man it sucks.
When did Nash hit Hogan with a chair? I have no memory of that.
Hard to tell where the truth lies brother 😅
Hogan is the GOAT.
Stone Cold Vs Hogan would have been Crazy as fuck!
Stone cold said no to hulk.
wearing the goats number...3:16 😎
Canada will forever be Hulk Hogan country 🇨🇦🔴🟡⚫️⚪️
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Look at Hogan , he is eye to eye with the Rock who is 6/5 might be 6/4 bare feet
