I've watched Brian build that airplane from the start...the series is great.
where can I find it?
I just started watching it after seeing this video, it's a great series.
@@SwellerGibbon3 Projectkitfox.
I looked at the title and knew who this was about! I love watching Brian work on this project..... and it goes without saying Trent's vids are iconic.
Brian’s channel is great, he did a really good job on his build series.
This guy is super sharp and articulate about his choices and build. Sounds like he is in the industry one way or another. Good vid.
Crazy what passion can achieve !
Cool to hear you and Brian talk about what he has done with his build. I've followed you both on your UA-cam channel and always enjoyed both. Thanks
Trent, thank you for the profile videos of some of your friends aircraft, I'm really enjoying them. Any chance you could do a comprehensive profile on the Freedom Fox? I would love to hear your opinion on the 915 after 4 years of running it, and numbers you're seeing in all the different types of flying you've been doing. I'm also curious about the maintenance over the last 4 years on the 915. Thanks again for your fantastic videos!!!
Seeing how the last video and this one seemed to be filmed at the same time, I really hope he follows the trend and does his next!!
He has videos on his cost of ownership and his performance numbers after the swap
Nice job!!! 👍
I went to work for SkyStar Aircraft as a design engineer on the Kitfox 30 years ago. I was there until 2004.
A good friend said years ago...There's a jock for everything...Love these vids that spotlight other builders. Great piece!
Brian! Yes! Loved watching this build. Excellent job 🍻
I watched his complete build on his Kitfox. He does incredible work and his Kitfox much be something to see in person.
*_Inspiring and motivating. $90.000 for a bush plane with that level of performance is great!_*
LOL, not in 2024.... price out a 915 motor and a kitfox 7 kit. Then build it.
@@randyvanvliet226 He said he spent 90K. Whats the problem you MORE-ON!
I don't think I've ever tapped on a video notification any faster in my life
Been watching Brian since pretty early in his build. Loving everybody sharing their time and builds!
Can't say enough good about BD turnkey engines. I didn't know he did anything aviation related but had a great experience buying a turnkey LS engine, harness and tuned computer from him. Now I'm getting ideas for a plane project...
Wow! This was an awesome video both the intro and very informative coverage of the project Kitfox. I really enjoyed this thanks Trent
My 2 favorite Kitfox UA-camrs! Oh heck yeah!!
What a magnificent aircraft ........ love the slats !!
*Oh wow I just realized that I could sit here for hours listening to guys talk about customizing their bush planes!* 🥰😍
They are awesome performers, love my S7 with he STI wing and 160HP Apex!! Just really would like to try the 2 blade NR, I currently run the 3 blade
You guys are fortunate to have access to all this stuff, we here down under have little in the way of parts and manufacturing for high end experimental parts.
This is dope! Started working on my instrument rating today and watching this video was a great way to end the day!
Love your content Trent!
Thank you for sharing with us this wonderful new chapter in your lives. Welcome to the world Eiva. ❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing gentlemen! Y'all are a HUGE part of my pre Kitfox build research💪🏽. The information you put out here is much appreciated 👍🏽
I am really enjoying this series of videos of you showing the aircraft builds your mates have, thanks.
Mountain biking with a group is a blast, I wish I could experience flying with a group. That would have to be awesome. Just flying wherever I want to is my dream.
Love the "nerd out" videos! Have watched you fly with these guys, now we get to hear about their builds. Very nice.
Man my dream just got further away but im still gonna keep in in heart. 90k is a ways away for me. Thanks for the info though I really appreciate it. Ill keep playing the lottery and will it to myself. Always enjoy anything about flying or information on flying love yall stay safe👊🙏😎
I watched his entire series on building that plane. Really interesting process & earned this subscriber.
I always clean my iPad screen before watching your videos since they have such cinematic images.
I did actually enjoy nerding out with you. This video had me locked in from the beginning.
Another fun video Trent! Thanks for sharing!
The motor was a motor bike motor. The r1. Then moved to sleds, I dreamed 6 years ago helping build a kit 7 to put a apex / r1 motor in a plane. And now here I watch it being done, feels like a dream come true. Awesome content, still my dream to have my own.
i used to skip over your videos when i saw them in my recommends from Jonas Marcinko but now i can't get enough of your content !!!
I’m sure it’s a real joy listening to an engine screaming at 8,200 rpm’s in low cruise.
That’s what active noise canceling headsets are for 😆
I'd like to know how it compares to a more traditional build. That would be a big factor if you want to land at home and have neighbors that you have to fly over
I had an R1 motorcycle with a similar engine design, most of them were on the track at high RPM's and the valves were in spec when checked at 20,000 miles. That motor isn't stressing at 8500 and it's reasonably quiet with the right exhaust. With a full exhaust system and a dyno tune my stock motor made 180 Hp.
@@craigsanders6925 Despite me being a DIE HARD Honda guy, there's just something sexy about the sound of an R1's crossplane ignition.
@@GrizzAxxemann They do sound great, I'd love to see an R1 crossplane engine in a plane. Sounds like a throaty V8. As far as I know it's only in the motorcycle, not in any sleds or jet skis as they don't need the traction advantage.
Yoir content is best on youtube. yoir editing jist everything is perfect. I will love to fly a bushplane
Thanks for making aircraft videos again, I like this series showing other's planes and work. Keep it up!
Trent...your camera work here...spectacular dude...like high class quality footage!
Good morning from Minnesota! Fantastic job!! Great episode!
What a climate shocker. Going from a frozen snow covered high desert, to a warm green savannah in the space of a few dozen miles (and minutes). If only the Donner Party had had such an ability.
Your content is consistently so well done. Another great one Trent.
Thanks Daniel!
@@TrentonPalmer given the stance of the plane.. I was waiting for a bit of a run down on the undercarriage.. it IS afterall nearly as important as the wing.. for stol
That was a good build I watched it from the start. I like you new videos lately. They had gotten a little stale, but are interesting again.
Great video Trent. I watched Brians build from the start, as well as yours. Thanks for the updat
This is the aircraft I'd love to build if I wont the lottery! :-) Awesome stuff
Love that build. Cool to see some innovations come to fruition in yet another beast of a bush plane.
Always good to visit with you so take care and stay safe!
Friend of mine has Slepcev Storch STOL. He swaped normaly used Rotax 912 with Yamaha motorcycle engine. You could change gears mid air to reduce engine RPM. Result was 150hp instead of 90hp Rotax had, while consumption fell from 18 to 8 liters compared to Rotax.
Aviation... standard rule of thumb..... 10.5 HP per gallon of fuel burned. Air resistance is a function of density altitude. If your buddy was burning 8 liters... that's a little over 2 gallons an hour and 22 or so HP. Not much will stay in the air with 22 HP, unless the cruise speed is below stall speed.
it’s my dream to own a kit fox some day thanks for the inspiration Trent
Cool. Bush plane look really fun
For price. I got a steal. I bought an Avid flier. The performance is very similar to a kitfox. Bought the plane and the trailer for 10k. 86HP VW engine. Cruise is nice and take off is really nice as well. Put around 1-2k into it. Burns 3.5gallons per hour. Couldn’t be more happy.
Stalls at 30mph 90feet take off roll
@@PilotEricG what model Avid? I just picked up an incomplete avid. Guy said it was a VI but i think its a model C.
Shout out to snake river bush planes! Awesome piggyback stol kit on this plane.
Liking these looks at your flying buddies planes!
Way cool cannot wait to see if/when a turbo is included on this beast. Scary fast maybe but great fun performance for sure. likes here
I really enjoyed watching his build! Not sure as well on high rpm but u can’t argue the power to weight ratio he’s getting from it…
@5:46 - I could not take my eyes off that ladybug.
Thoughts on Redbull's latest stunt flight? Landing and take off area seems a little large for a bush plane....
Trent great content as always
Great video can’t wait to learn more about these mods.
Very nice!
Love the videos on your flying buddies airplanes! Thanks in a large part to inspiration from you I'm a recently licensed private pilot and looking at buying a airplane from the Kittfox/Avid family.
Great info Trent…but…let’s see that hangar build!!
It is always cool to see those bush planes in action!! have you heard of Aviat Husky bushplanes?
He’s flown with quite a few husky’s.
No kidding? I didnt know that.
Do you really think a guy who flies with so many different Bush planes and pilots might not have heard of about a Husky?
All he seems to fly are Kitfoxes. Chill dude!
@@FreedomMFG doesn’t matter if someone has or hasn’t ever flown a particular type of airplane if you’re in the industry, you know about it. Don’t ask stupid questions.
Another great video with the FPV drone. Your an awesome guy Trent.
That Apex engine Love to get Turbo charged!
Mcxpress in Sweden take out 315hp and with that you can drive our snowmobile until the chassi fall apart, and then put your engine in something else and keep going...
It feels like a dream watching you
Hi Trent,
That was another great video.
Take care,
Be safe.
I like the plug for Northgate Aviation, Chico Jet Center!
Nissan's ZEOD RC is a 3 cylinder engine 1.5 liter turbocharged direct injection I believe. It puts out 400 h.p. & 300 ft lbs of torque. The entire engine & accessories weighs 88 lbs with turbocharger exhaust everything. It's dry sump. Check it out it would we great for airplanes. It was made for the 24 hrs car race, so it's very durable & reliable.
Do you happen to have a link so i can check that one out? I want to make sure i dont get derailed by the incorrect engine data
Goooood morning bro👊🙏😎
Awesome as Always...Great content
Just as all us Rotax 912 fliers finally get the legacy engine guys to quit calling it "a snowmachine engine," the Yamaha conversion comes along! We also got them, the legacy engine crowd, kinda used to high RPM's, like 5,000 or so, the Yamaha is going to blow their minds!
Like his dedication and hars work on making one great KitFox...
first time seeing this channel. As an unrepentant engine freak I really wanted to Hear this thing.
Great info, thanks!
Thanks Trent.
Beautiful build...
Sweet Fox
Isn't that the Piggyback STOL wing?
Damn I wanted to hear that little engine rev up
Enjoyed. Good stuff.
Mike Patey was making a thing with double leading edge slots on Draco a while ago, but haven't heard anything about planes with that recently - has anyone taken that up, and noticed the benefits ?
👌 Superb !
This guy is awesome. He could give Mike Patey a run for his money.
Hi you are talking about more lift with this wing ,lift more payloads ,more fuel for long distance, I'm in Manitoba and sometimes we have to travel long ways?
I liked this walkaround much more than the previous one. Link to Brian's channel, please.
He said "project kitfox"...
ua-cam.com/channels/QKere-MTLgFKz8C8DUhSKw.html
Very Interesting Trent 🤗
Grt is great I got a full grt in my aircraft.. 2 screens..
Also, that Kitfox has more power than the O-320 E2D in my 172M and is nearly 1000 pounds lighter. Cant imagine that power to weight ratio
great cowling!
Looks like I might need to start building a plane.
This plane has a bit of draco looks other than the color. If it was red everyone would at first glance think of draco. Especially the take off it's so much like draco.
Why aren't there more motorcycle-powered experimentals out there? It seems like there would be a gold mine of wrecked Hayabusas ready to power these planes.
A lot of them don’t handle extended high RPM runs like a plane requires, and the power reduction (gearbox) is always a challenge
It’s simple. Motorcycles have transmissions built into the block. The snowmobile engine does not.
That nytro engine is actually a three cylinder.
I take off in my jab Then pull power back. .. no it’s not off airport stuff. .. but I love my 3rd man door. I can put 2 full size pedal bikes in the back ..
Imagine using a motorcycle engine with the gears, as far as I understand you could trim for low speed performance at takeoff and just shift up for cruise.
This should work until the blade tips start to hit transsonic/supersonic speeds.
But also it would allow for much lower engine RPM at cruise reducing fuel-burn.
Terrible idea. That’s what a constant speed propeller is for.
It's been tried before... If it was a good idea, there would be more of them.
And too heavy.
I hope that you can do some content with 'GravityKnightFlying'. He has been putting out great content for years.... it would be nice to see him get some exposure.
Makes me want to drop more $$$ on mods for mine, beautiful aircraft!
Combien ça coûte un bijoux comme ça ?
I'm not an airplane guy but maybe another option for a light engine is the rzr 3cilender sise by side motor. It's not integral to the transmission, and a simple output shaft. But makes the same power, comes with piston oil squirter and provisions for turbo stock. And whey less. Drag racing people are tickling 500 hp before they are breaking stuff with extreme boot pressure. so around 300 should be fine.
The yamaha 3 cylinder engines are also being used, both N/A and turbo versions.
Side by sides are twin cylinders, aren't they?
Jabiru. Went grt years ago ..
