@@JessieatPlot37 I’m unsure I trust the store bought seeds anymore. In 2021 the seeds were put out in March, vendor took them back in June, September the display for 2022 was put up in top stock in outside lawn & garden for display in 2022. I’m thinking they just repackaged the old seeds for the new year and that’s why germination was so bad the last time I bought this brand in the store. I bought my seeds online this year to be safer.
Hi Jessie I have tried the drainpipe thing in past and was such a fiddle. Last year I planted peas alderman in modules and wen they were 1-2” high very small I planted it out in 2 rows in march and covered with fleece till they were about 6” and I didn’t lose one to mice. Hi jessie ended up getting a top couple of packs of peas from wilkos , i normally save my own seed but i didn't get a great harvest last year , online prices seem to have gone up quite dramatically this year , take care
Evening Jessie, I've been starting my peas off the same way for a while now and I use sunflower oil on the inside of the plastic to stop the compost getting stuck.
Hi Jess, I garden in Oregon zone 8b, which seems like it is very similar to your climate, so your channel is wonderful inspiration and a wealth of knowledge that is so useful for me. I'm wondering about your slat beds, did you make the side slats yourself? It would be great to see a DIY video on them if you don't already have one. Looks like each board is simply cut with the same pattern of slots. I love your can do attitude in tackling any project that needs to be built, you are a skilled gal for sure. Thank you for all of your wonderful videos!
Thanks T, the slat beds were actually a complete bargain that i found online. Supposed to be tall compost bins but i split them, of £30 each! You couldn't buy the wood for that much so i was really chuffed.
I tried the peas in a gutter thing last year and they all went mouldy !!!! Must try again I suppose 🤔 great vlog but it makes me laugh how you keep putting off doing the compost bins, get on with it..haha. cheers Jessie
Crikey Jess I don’t sow my cress that dense. When I sow peas in the guttering I have been doing them a couple of inches apart, I will be interested to see what return you get from them.
Hahahah, i never used to. Few years ago i had so many pre-sprouted that i sowed them practically touching and they were fantastic! Been sowing them close ever since. :D
Do you sow seeds by the phase of the moon? Sowing when the moon is waxing is supposed to give better growth than when waining, I have never had any luck getting peas out of a gutter pipe in one piece,it usually all falls apart, might give it another again and just lay it on top of the no dig bed in the pea arium.
