I think I somewhat agree that the Animatronics just being not possessed can be scary, I feel like them being possessed adds in at least some interesting lore even if it’s simple I think the franchise however can still be taken seriously, as it confuses me as to why people say it can’t be taken seriously nowadays. However I think the biggest problem that I can agree with you on, as you’ve also pointed out or implied in this video, is the lore. I genuinely do think it’s way too over complicated to the point of it making no sense, and the only reason it’s there is to fill plot holes and then create new ones. I mean, I genuinely wouldn’t mind if the lore was somewhat complicated, but stuff from the books like a time traveling ball pit? Fazgoo? Just, I really wish they’d maintain a certain level of quality instead of just letting anything get published. So, while I do have some disagreements with your video, I do agree that the concept is, and still is, pretty scary. Not only because of the jump scares, but also because the animatronics they’re inspired by can also be pretty creepy, and I think the FNAF animatronics play into that fear and creepiness as well.
I remember once hearing that Scott had a QA with someone and they guessed a major plot point from FNaF 4 i think? And he then went and changed it, take that with a grain of salt though as it might just be me misremembering something. But the fact that this would actually make sense in terms of how fucked the plot to FNaF is says alot about its writing imo.
