Two of the videos have had their music removed due to copyright but I hope you can still enjoy the video. I just want to say thank you so much for watching, hopefully liking, commenting and for hanging out with me as we get treated yet again to these amazing Star Citizen commercials. You guys are amazing!!
if you want something cool, an e-sport based in star citizen is happening in a few days (18/01), if you've heard of the Dakar rally, they do a Daymar rally in game where they race ground vehicles across a moon over the space of a few days, just look up daymar rally
For your question about what the game is about. I think the easiest comparison is GTA V. Just get a ship. And do what you want. Follow the story? Follow the missions or just get together with a few dozen friends and reenact a war. Maybe just get a ship and keep finding new places. Every planet is fully walkable. So there is a million places nobody else has set a foot on
I loved that ad for that very reason. They came across as so professional though it would be easy to mistake them for being actors pretending to be racers.
I know others said in the last one, but star engine would be a great one to check out for more star citizen as well as the short story bits from previous IAE shows featuring more of legally distinct space clarkson Jax Mcleary!
Fun fact: In the Mirai Fury LX commercial, the "driven by real racers" screen, those are the handles of a bunch of people in the racing scene. I'm in a racing league as a Race Director, putting on the racing events for people, handling timing, leaderboards, tournaments, etc. It's a lot of fun!
TAG! You're it! Xtremely. Thanks for continuing to be an inspiration for me. Someday this MK JnJ configuration...will see a beginner race again from the FRONTLINES!
You answere one part of Kai's question "What do you do in this?!" You can race or even be a Race Director and more. Which people have been making up their own race scene since long before any race game mechanics were in the game and now there is proper raceways with some mechanics behind them. Still alot is player made.
This game is a "Universe Simulator" Basically you can do whatever you want in a MMO sci-fi world. Anything you like from Cargo Hauling, Mining, Salvaging, Bounty Hunting, Mercenary Missions, FPS Missions and a touch of racing if you like it. All in one shared space where anyone can interact with another.
I personally like to just have a fly and then sit looking out a window (ON SHIPS WITH ACTUAL WINDOWS!) and other times I am treasure hunting through wreck sites, with some hauling to keep the "bills" paid. Its my own little way to play it and I suppose very life simulator.
The Galactic Gear -> Galactic Tour -> Whitley's Guide progression with Jax McCleary is the longest standing continuous series with a single thread they've done for almost a decade now and you can really tell how the game, the engine, the performance capture process and production pipeline have progressed through the years. But my favourite videos have to be the Invictus ones. They feel the most cohesive in terms of direction and story. Especially the 2950 (2020 in our count) ones.
@@darjanator the 999th Squadron probably spoke to my inner kid more than any trailer this game has ever had. Probably from invoking memories of the Blue Angels. However, the do think that the Invictus trailers stand out as some of the most coherent visual story telling they've done.
The movie that popped up halfway through was technically an ad for the Crusader Industries Mercury Starrunner, the ship they were in. Rather than a traditional commercial, it's meant to be an in-universe actual event. Basically when they were first selling the ship there was this mini-game where a Han Solo - Chewbacca style smuggling group, consisting of that lady and the weird blue alien chap in the freezer, evading police. You could either help them get away, or help the police catch up, and whichever side won we got a ship paint scheme. So this is expanding on that story
A little bit of information, the Zeus MKII commercial is very lore driven, because it displays the story of the first spacecraft and pilot to enter quantum in 2137, Star Citizen takes place in 2955 and the Zeus MKI was concepted and made by the first interplanetary spacecraft company, RSI, a company founded in an alternate timeline by inventor Chris Roberts in the year 2038, his company later solved overpopulation and made humanity an interplanetary species, this makes the Zeus commercial more powerful and relevant game wise
I've been looking forward to this all week. I've got a few of your questions answered here 33:15 The Hercules Starlifter is mainly a cargo ship. Basically transport a large amount of cargo. Or vehicles, like the tanks you saw (which are in game), or dropping enormous MOAB sized bombs. 36:00 Origin ships are basically the Mercedes Benz of the Star Citizen universe. Super upper class and meant to be all polished and nice. 43:25 That was the Corsair ASMR video. I warned you about it in the last video. 43:56 Star Citizen is sort of a choose-your-own-adventure MMO type of game. Yes, the game is multiplayer. You can haul cargo, salvage ships, do ship combat, do FPS combat, mine gems/ore, be a pirate, go racing, be a medic rendering aid to players... There's big events that happen, little heist stuff, bunker missions... and that's just currently. Play by yourself, or a couple of friends, or a large crew, however you want. And there's more coming with base building, manufacturing (including ships), even space station building for the big organizations. 49:36 CIG, the makers of the game, actually interviewed players for this ad. They were indeed, not actors. I know you didn't ask, but it's just a fun fact. 56:23 That's a hand held tractor beam. Kind of essential for moving cargo because you move boxes with literally hundreds of kilograms of material in them. 59:41 see what I said at 43:56 I'm sure you have more questions, and I'm more than happy to answer them if you read and reply to this message. Also, if you are interested in the game, there is a free fly event happening I think early next month for the lunar new year they do every year. Just make sure you grab someones referral code. You don't need to, but it can get the person who refers you free stuff, and you extra money in game.
I'm glad you're enjoying the commercials! In part 1 a lot of the videos were ship teasers and not actual commercials, hence the drastic variety in quality on some of them. I recommend watching "squadron 42 I held the line" next, it's the 2023 teaser for sq42. It's 30 minutes and shows significantly better gunplay for SQ42. Also, if you're interested in trying out SC I highly recommend playing with someone who knows the game. There are also several free weeks for the game on a regular basis if you want to check it out for free.
@@teik The previous year's SQ42 progress update video had more of the actual gunplay (with more than just a submachine gun) in it. It better represents that part of the game; plus, it also gives a sneak peak into later parts of the game (like flying a fighter).
New viewer here, and I just wanted to pop in and say how much I appreciate these two videos you've done on Star Citizen ship commercials. SC can be quite a controversial project given the length of time it's been in development, but the sheer amount of content that has been generated by developers, artists, and backers is actually pretty monumental; it is very nice to see someone like you, who has a more uncommon background expertise, giving critical appreciation to these efforts. I am looking forward to your StarEngine review, and you should definitely watch the latest Squadron42 gameplay reveal, as it is intensely cinematic in production and quality. Cheers! Edit: Oops, just realized that you already did an excellent reaction/review of the SQ42 vid! Nice work sir. :)
I think the biggest problem is a lot of people see it from the outside, not playing it but getting news about it once or twice a year and most of those news is "ohhh it takes so long". On the ohter hand people who play it see that they do something, yes there are bugs, often introduced with new versions, but we really see that they work and make progress on the game. I myself like to complain when there is bugs and nothing is working, but I still love the game and don´t want to miss it ^^.
@@kaizammit If you want to see some actual gameplay, I'd *highly* recommend all of the Star Citizen videos posted by Bedbanna's. "The Prison Escape", "Space Convention" and "War for Jumptown". "War for Jumptown" covers an in-game pvp event; and was compiled from several days of gameplay footage. All three of these videos have a lot of acting and roleplay involved; as well as some pretty slick editing. Aside from those, there are many excellent machinima films made inside Star Citizen. "Sandstorm" and "Adrift" are two excellent ones among many.
I can't believe how excited I have been to watch these -- the insight and enthusiasm on this channel are unmatched. Really good stuff. In terms of what you do in the game? Well, basically everything you see them showing off in the commercial. It's an open-galaxy sandbox. Some players are bounty hunters, some are pirates, some are miners, some are salvagers, some do exploration, hooning/low-flying (I love watching the videos of the high skilled players doing this), racing, mercenary work, cargo hauling (like you saw with the Hull-C, there is a UA-camr named Jack Axton who focuses his channel on interstellar cargo hauling, and talks about a lot of great stories during the livestream while doing so), and delivery missions. Oddly enough, my favourite are the delivery missions, basically space Amazon. It's extremely relaxing and they take you to different outposts and locations as you deliver packages for different delivery companies. Love doing that in the 100i around MicroTech. The visuals are absolutely unmatched. It's strangely very relaxing.
Once, while out in my my Drake Vulture (a solo salvaging ship) I was jumped by a pirate flying a C2 Hercules. My ship was completely disabled after a wild chase chase through some asteroids; so, I decided to abandon ship. The pirate decided to be lazy and tried to shoot me point blank with his ship's guns (while I was EVA in just a suit). I managed to dive under his ships nose and slip into his cargo bay (one of the front cargo doors had been blown off at some point during the battle). Once inside, I managed to sneak upstairs to the bridge, where I started shooting the pilot with my pistol (I wasn't set up for combat at the time). Unfortunately, his heavy armor (and machine gun) decided the fight in his favor. Even so, it was a wild ride!
How to explain what Star Citizen is? Essentially, the ultimate role playing game within a realistic universe simulator. Flight is full 6 degrees of flight, not atmospheric flight in space like Star Wars. Flight is true space flight, like Babylon 5 and Battlestar Galactica. Ship computers do allow for a style of flight which feels like atmospheric flight in space, thru the use for multiple control thrusters on the ships. You get to swap between these at your discretion during flight. Economy will be a real simulator of supply/demand. All raw materials have to be mined, whether by players or NPCs. Raw materials have to be refined to produce new ships, weapons, armors, etc. The game could essentially play itself, and it will have merchants, traders, pirates, bounty hunters, mercenaries, you name it. Within all of that, the players drop in and decide what they want to do. So, unlike typical RPG's where you pick a predetermined role and are restricted to that role, in SC, you do whatever you want whenever you want. You pick the ship or other tool which fits the job, just like in the real world, and see if you can get the job done first. There will be missions you can pick up, like go scan a sector for pirates. retrieve lost goods, track a bounty, etc. or you can explore the galaxy to try to discover something no one else has found. There are ships for those who want to do solo things, ships for small groups of friends, and ships for Corporations. Is your Corp a Para Military, and what role will you play within that group? Do you want to be the space equivalent of a tow truck driver, they've got a ship for that. How about a data broker / thief who tries to pull of corporate espionage and escape with the goods to sell to the highest bidder? they got a ship for that too. Medic? got a ship for that. Salvager of derelict ships? Got a few of those. Wanna pilot a space cargo ship like the Hull C shown in the one clip? There are 5 sizes of that ship. What really makes SC different is you are NOT playing the hero of the game. The game is a living world you drop into and try to make a mark. Pretty much like in the real world except with less severe consequences if you fail. You only sort of die in the game. There is supposed to be a point you can't be revived, and your possessions get passed on to a beneficiary you had predetermined. Hopefully that doesn't go away, the idea you age or become less viable thru multiple injuries being to severe for another "revive" is pretty cool.
The great thing about SC is that 95% of the spots have no extra light source added. Everything you can see here is just as beautiful to look at ingame as in the trailers
Round 2! Let's GOOOOOO!!!! OK, just got done. amazing reactions to the commercials, i hope that someone at CIG can pass your reactions around for the accolades as well as tips and changes for their future shots. oh and if you are ever in the Manchester area and want to stop by Cloud Imperium Games for a visit, you should, who knows maybe you can make some commercial-- i mean adverts for them. as to what you can do in the game, you can basically live out your space life in the game. i mainly run FPS missions, as well as a little dru-- i mean pharmaceutical distribution and working on some Machinima videos as well. just note that the game is still in development, so expect bugs, instability, incomplete tech, mechanics and content. oh and, if you can, i HIGHLY advise playing with a veteran who can guide you, but still let you lead, so you can still get to experience the game at your pace and discretion, but the veteran can be there to guide you if/when you need help, so they are not just leading you by the nose through everything. i am really looking forward to you watching the Star Engine demo, i highly recommend this version from their official page, it is the highest definition and has clearer and more concise text to give context to the tech and visuals on screen, though it is more tech focused, but you might enjoy it as much as many of us do regardless ua-cam.com/video/nWm_OhIKms8/v-deo.htmlsi=NHN5q2OwhRcpHxMl if you decide to take the plunge to try out the game and need help, i would be happy to help, as i am sure many in the comment section would be too. hope to see a video of your experience in The 'Verse as well soon O7
This was worth the wait!. Love hearing a pro's reaction and insight into stuff most of us take for granted. If you ever do want to have a taste of the game, the community is generally very helpful. As there's no 'proper' beginners guide yet, it can seem daunting at first!. Look forward to seeing the Star engine reaction vid. Nice job!.
Star Citizen has a long way to go until it reaches 1.0 and a ton of technical issues to boot, but one thing that sets Star Citizen apart from other space sims is the simply outstanding ship interiors and exteriors which are all immaculately detailed and are personally signed off by Chris Roberts himself.
49:25 - Fun fact... When they said that were real racers and not actors, they weren't kidding.. The voices are streamers that take part in various racing tournaments.
20:00 this video is so top in production values because is was not only an ad for the ship, but also was a video made by the cinematics team from Squadron 42 to test some tools and teach devs how to use it.
Also there are a lot of holiday trailers in here. Star citizen has their own names for our holidays, red festival is chinese new year, Stella fortuna is st patricks day, luminallia is christmas and valentines
Star citizen today consists of the PU(Persistent Universe) Which is a kind of open world where you can travel between planets and star systems. Squadron 42 will be a kind of story campaign, single player. The PU can at the current moment host 600 players. There is also the arena commander mode, which is more or less arena battles either in ship or on foot.
Star Engine Video is good, but do check more of the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo / IAE ones if you wantto catch up with Jax Mcleary (Space Jeremy Clarkson). Especially 2950, 2951 and 2952 in order!
You asked several times what do people do - the answer is simple: anything you want! Go knock out some pirate bounties for some easy credits, get a small industrial ship to go mining, salvaging, or sell fuel (more to come surely); you can trade cargo or sell cargo you generate, or stuff you steal from NPCs or other players. Systems are coming online to support factions, blueprints and crafting, all requiring input in the form of reputation, materials (that can only come from other professions), specialized skills, and more. The game is a sandbox where you can do anything you desire. It's been a long road to get where we are today but I have no doubt we will cross that finish line.
You make it sound like a finished game. That's a mistake. I love SC, but let's be real. It's an alpha version, and we're alpha testers. Most of the time it's a buggy, laggy mess. With crashes and disconnects. And deaths with dumb reasons. Exactly what I expect from an alpha. And what everyone else has to expect too. Sure, you can already try out quite a few features and content, but no one should expect a smooth experience or or complain about bugs. Finding bugs and creating data is our only "job".
You keep saying "what do you do in this game" and the simple awnser is, anything you want! xD Explore, become a bounty hunter or on the other hand a pirate, be a mercenary for hire, be a field medic and do rescue ops, haul and trade cargo or make deliveries, mine by hand or via vehicle or ship, salvage derelict ships and recover loose/abandoned cargo, pump up your skill as a racer... The game also has a full loot system: items, weapons, armor, cargo, and you'll find loot boxes spread everywhere in the verse.. you can also do a bunch of random content like search for missing persons and get lost in deep caves while doing so, investigate crashed derelicts and solve puzzles while avoiding or dissabling traps, take control of locations with your friends which generate drugs to be sold or even that directly generate money (if you can survive long enough ), get sent to and even escape prison, disable or repair satalite uplinks which protect a given area of space... As amazing as this all sounds however.. I have to let you know a couple major points: There is a STEEP learning curve, but the community will help you out there for sure! And this biggest thing of all: Its an Alpha, not a "game"...YET... It is a super buggy mess at times and you might want to scream and rage BUT you'll quickly learn there is nothing else like it that exists at the moment. When it works and when you learn to work around some of the basic challenges, it is an experience unlike anything else! We get major updates about every three months, and they are continually trying to fix issues and make quality of life improvements. But be warned: You might just become an addict ;) Just dont buy anything but a starter pack, almost all current ships and vehicles can be bought in game with in game currency. You can buy ships for real money on the pledge store but that is how we support the game as its almost entirely crowd funded you absolutely do NOT NEED to buy anything except a basic game package!
some people have mentioned that these are filmed in the game engine, but fyi what i haven't seen too many mention is that YOU (as a player) can make similar videos. there are dozens of machinema out there... the game engine has a bunch of camera controls to allow you to control the camera - all you need to do is find the scenery you want to use...
"The Reunion" is an advert for the MSR Mercury Star Runner, a blockade runner inspired by the Millennium Falcon. It is in fact so inspired by the Millennium Falcon, that it comes with a chess set that opens a trap door into hidden compartments and access vents under the floor boards.
There's also some star ship commercials in the Whitley's Guide segments (the top gear-escque continuation of Galactic Tour for most of the yearly in-game events), the Nomad comes to mind as an example
33:15 The Crusader Starlifter (there are 3 variants) The A2 has HUGE bombs that you can use to clear out ground targets. As well it has a LOT of guns on it so you can have some friends along to make easy work of some of the 'harder' bounty hunting missions. It also has a sizeable amount of storage space for cargo. So you can take the cargo of ships you kill and sell the cargo for profit. OR you could use that cargo space to haul a tank. The M2 looses most of the guns and all of the bombs but picks up a lot of cargo space. You have enough cargo space to carry the "Ballista" (If you remember the advert that played backwards?) or 3 tanks (if you want to get snug) The C2 looses MORE guns as well as some armor but gets MORE cargo space. (You can stack the cargo higher)
Defenetly watch the IAE series( Intergalactic Aerospace Expo) for star citizen , its more of the jax Macleere guy and it gets better with every iteration and yes, the expo is in game and its pretty cool
IIRC, the Racing bit with the people talking at 50:00, the ones who are talking are some of the top players who regularly race you were asking what we can do.... The answer so far: Bounty Hunting, Cargo hauling, racing, PVE/PVP, scavenging (ship scavenging), and they still plan on more stuff that you'll be able to do in time to come.
The reunion is the story about that ship and its crew. It is a famous ship of contrabandist. It is also an ad for the Mercury Star Runner, a Millenium Falcon inspired ship
I can't answer for everyone. But I do space trucking (cargo running), salvage (breaking up abandoned ships) with the Vulture or finding scrap to scrap and sell, "help system security" by clearing bunkers in FPS combat, PVE bounty hunt (be it on the ground with more FPS combat) on the ground or in ship combat, mining ore or gems in the Prospector or MOLE for some chill gameplay, find and collect abandoned cargo lying around (sometimes left by a dropped contract or left after a bounty) and very rarely I do medical beacons or rescue my Org mates when I'm am needed. In short: Cargo running, Salvage, Merc work, bounty hunt, mining, "cleaning" up cargo, and med running.
What do you do in star citizen? Anything you want! FPS gameplay, racing, fighter combat, hauling, mining, medivac, exploration.... i could go on for a while. Its a space sim essentially. all the lighting and planets are naturally generated (i.e. the atmosphere takes on its color and style from its natural composition and the light is actually from the source rather than an overlay).
For the commercials that didn't specify the ship, or event, you have to look at the URLs. The star wars looking movie, was the mercury star runner by Crusader. The url said the ship/manufacturer. The red painted ships with fireworks was Chinese new year (lunar new year/red festival) The one with the green colored ships, and the truck jumping into the back of a ship was labeled Stella fortuna. And URL was /stpatrickday They hide some of the names in the URLs to keep the commercials as immersion as possible. The big ships can move cargo, ground vehicles, other ships, people, etc. The game is meant to accommodate solo players and large groups, so there are ships aimed at different roles and numbers of players
You've been asking what you do in Star Citizen, end-goal of this would be just about anything you can think to do in space. It's meant to be a space simulator. Currently (when it works) you can mine rocks or asteroids, strip panels for scrap, hunt bounties, deliver cargo, explore uncharted areas, deal in legal and illegal commodities, go to jail, escape jail, participate in PvP, do some missions for all sorts of quests. They have plans for base building, ship building, crafting, space station building, data running, people hauling.. all sorts of stuff.
Once again you are getting the picture almost spot-on. The large Hercules has 2 variants. One is a bomber and the other is a hauler. We like to load up tanks or other ground vehicles or just use them for mass amounts of cargo hauling. One of my favorite uses is to load a bunch of "Furries". Furries = Fury's. Tiny little swarm fighters. We can fit about 10-15 of em in there. Open both doors and let them swarm out at an unsuspecting pirate. The game is pretty cool when it works 🙂
To be fair some of these commercials are filmed in extremely limited time in a test server that's very buggy because the commercials have to come out before the ships and the ships are worked on till the last second.
@@joshjonson2368 The meta in every MMO changes massively & constantly. Especially when it's not done. Anyone that falls for the marketing has only themselves to blame, especially since you can just buy them without paying cash in the game. FOMO = (Fear of Missing Out) is lack of self control. Buying the latest ship because of some announced power benefit is unintelligent. New ships are the buggiest of them all.

55:57 i like that some of the Crusader ads feel very much like an ad for a sporty Toyota. Their whole branding is rugged and reliable while maintaining quality and offering some luxuries a brand like Drake would forego. 1:05:02 spot on, the Intrepid is Crusader's starter ship (the cheapest one the brand has on the website), so it has all the amenities you'd want as a starter. A tiny bit of cargo space, a lil gun, and a bed to sleep in. I love the consistent brand design language between the various Crusader ships.
9:45 i work in advertising strategy for one of the major platforms. You are bang on. As soon as any part of a human being is introduced, even if its just a hand, the return on ad spend goes up by 2-10x. People click, people follow, people buy. Same video, same creative material. Just 2 seconds of a real human being somewhere in there. Bam.
The Carrack is by far my favorite ship. And to add onto what you said, another reason why I love it so much are the perspective shots are lovely. Close ups, details. Like the crystal shot. So glad you're doing these. Feel like I finally have someone who geeks out the same way I do about cinematography, haha. It's always the little details that I love.
Your typical day playing Star Citizen in 4 different flavors. Solo good: You wake up in your room, get to the lobby, check your mobi glass for juicy missions. Pick a mission, either cargo, bounty hunting, rescue people from caves or more. Choose the right ship for the job, get to the hangar, pilot the ship to the location and then have fun. Either space combat, bunker FPS assaults, cargo loading, which I call Space Tetris, and more. Everything in first person, everything very immersive. When it works well, it is an absolute joy to play and there is no other game like it. Solo bad: You wake up in your room and the door does not open. So you log out and try again, now it works, but there are no missions in the mobiglass. Try again, now it works, but the elevators to the hangar are borked. Try again. Now the elevator works, but your ship was spawned upside down and it explodes on the pad. Try again. Now the ship is fine, but the hangar doors do not open. Try again, now they open, but someone parked their Polaris Corvette right in front of your hangar and you can't leave. Try again, now the jumping button does not work, or the mission does not spawn properly, or some dude wants to blow everything up and kill you for no reason, or a thousand other different bugs. Group good: You wake up and spend the next 20 minutes joining up with your mates. You pick up the biggest badass ship your organization has, and go do awesome stuff together. The sights, the explosions, everything work great. Someone is the captain, someone handles turrets, someone is the engineer (to come soon), someone handles the torpedoes, someone knows where to go and what to do. Lots of great memories and moments. Group bad: Think the solo bad, but now it is affecting multiple people. Josh crashed, so we need to wait for him. Mandy desynced and she got spaced while we were jumping, we need to go back for her and wait for her to respawn. The ship disappear with all the people inside and now you are floating in space, etc.
half the game is dealing so much server failure to the point you have to hop servers or just quit and hope to rearrange a group mission on less congested hours
Thx for a great runthrough :) I love watching SC gameplay and am impressed with their concept, visuals and soundscape! The intricacy of everything is out of this world both immersion- and frustration-wise, as the ambition constantly sets dev back. So nice to see your reaction, highlighting both the content and ad evolution :)
You are a Star Citizen in this game lol once you load into the game there are no loading screens and all the planets and moons are able to be accessed by just flying down too it. They have many gameplay loops from Bounties, Medical, Exploration, Salvage, Mining, Pirating, Cargo Hauling, and many missions where you use your ship or on foot to try and make money. 12 years worth of features 2025 is said to be a year of stability for servers. You can get one starter ship and get everything else from ships to gear to guns in game. People do pay a bunch of money to support the project by purchasing bigger ships with real money as you can see. When this game works it is the most innovative and beautiful game I've ever played. Bigger ships need more people to man so not really much of a pay to win aspect. even with "Pledging" skill is needed to out maneuver your opponent. Definitely worth checking out! Excited to see what more is added this year!
"I see what they're trying to do, the stories are there but don't hit their mark." I feel that so much, and I truly believe it's the ones with the human models more than anything else. The arms movements and facial expressions just pull you out of cinema into "this is clearly a game CG" and detracts. i.e. the Captain in the Polaris. Just the pointing the finger at the end was robotic and the hand shape unnatural that is pops your mind out. That said, I still love these, and again what a great experience getting to hear your thoughts through this. Fantastic stuff, looking forward to Star Engine! Cheers!
Another great video. Watching these back as a backer you really start to see the shift from the clips created just for an advert and them shifting into making them all in engine. Certain adverts are also showing off recently released improvements in the engine such as characters, planetary locations, vegetation, audio and sound FX, cloud tech and cinematic tools. The Reunion was them testing out some of the cinematics as well as plugging a new ship. There are a ton of machinima that have been created by players in game that use the tools that have been added. Looking forward to you checking out the engine showcase, I think you'll get a right kick out of it.
You asked what we all do in the game, I buy and sell commodities between stations and spaceports for profit with a cargo hauler, but when base building gets added I will be buying and selling to get a mining ship then that mining ship will bring the resources to a Refiniery at a station, then the excess gets shipped and sold by me and the leftovers go to a base building ship which then gets used to make buildings, this is the goal for this game, where all players and their respective game loops are connected for an experience unlike any other game, thats the idea anyway, and it goes deeper than that, with cargo hauling or base defense I can find people in the game to protect my shipment or base and I pay them and thats their game loop and how it mixes with mine, eventually all of these ways to play connect, forming an inter-connected web of content anyone can get into and enjoy
So what you do in Star Citizen is basically... You live in space. You can do many things, but it's essentially a simulator. You can fly cargo. You can mine asteroids. You can grab a gun, hunt down some pirates. You can be the pirate. You can just fly around, and enjoy the scenery. You can never leave a planet, and just walk around as a hermit. The point is, they're building a really complex world, with all these ships as tools to live out whatever you want to live out. It's why people pay pretty big money for some of these vessels, because they're buying into their ideal of what they want be or do, even if the actual game will likely come up with a lot more limitations. You're buying into the dream - I mean, I sure did.
been waiting for this, thanks @Kaizammit 🙂 think you've gotten into the more recent and higher quality productions as the more they learn, the better they get... should also check out the Star Citizen Machinima, from EE Studios and the Strar Citizen Community... Overclocked Noir is another to check out too "what do you do with a big ship like that....?" whatever you want..... arrange combined arms, piracy, carry vehicles to races, conduct ship meets, combat operations, cargo operations, salvaging support.... pretty much anything you choose to. also the planet tech that CIG are working on currently called Genesis... is not just one thing, it's evolution, ecology of planets... the sound, the weather and I must say when I (like many others) were blown away with how the realistic the new sound and weather etc is to become... also the StarEngine video is phenomenal... imo that is... plus it's in engine cinema which is the quality we as Citizens see the game each time we play, even on low the game looks amazing, but ramp it upto photo mode and holy hell... plus the only loading screen you'll get is when you first load into the game.... there is no other loading screen from that point on... everything is for the most part smooth and hell there are times when I'll just sit in orbit of a planet, in third person view showing the ship and the sun emerging from the other side of the planet...or risk getting shot part way into a mission, just to watch the sun rise or set.. it truly is remarkable with what they have achieved
The premise of Star Citizen is basically to create a space simulation game where you can be anyone or do anything. Right now, it is still in the very early stages of development, but it is coming along a lot quicker now that Squadron 42 is almost complete. The game is essentially a test environment right now, and the ads don't really reflect what the gameplay is like at the moment. The ads represent more of what they want the final game to be like. Most of the adverts use the game engine and pre-render everything, whilst some use actual in-game footage. The latter can be a bit janky, as they don't have the same camera and lighting controls for the in-game footage. Also, some of the advertisements use in-game themes, such as being new to the game and purchasing your first starter ship, which was the theme for the Crusader Intrepid ad that you enjoyed. If you decide to play the game, I recommend lowering your expectations, as the game is more of a test environment with lots of bugs, than a game.
Seeing you react to all these and the evolution they had over time was refreshing ! I'm so glad you liked the Carrack one (because it's my favorite ship obviously) The minimovie was used to showcase how SQ42 narrative will be done. They did it as an ad to for the Mercury which was the ship of the main character (and showing another alien race, the Banu). They usually use these to showcase the evolution of the techs. The one with the timelapse was done because moving the cargo is very long, it's a gameplay loop in the game (as you have asked multiple times about what we can do in the game is too long to explain here) I can't wait to see your react over the Star Engine.
I'm sure a bunch of people have said this, but yes, everything you see in these commercials we can more or less do already, content is still being polished but for the most part, yes. For some players its all fps or combat or PvP, for others, like myself, its all industrial, mining, salvaging, hauling. And yes, hanging with your ORG or your friends is a big part of it. Also, i am really happy to hear you say you will do a review if the Star Engine video, keep in mind, its in game flow so everything you see is created although not all was in game at the time of the video. My son turned me onto your vids and then i saw you did SC stuff and absolutely love what you do and how you explain everything and why it works or not. Please keep doing these
43:55 nailed it. I never really thought about how much exposure to content from this game it would take to get that point across without outright saying it.
What do you do in this game. Answer. Whatever you like It’s a first person opensandbox where you fly space ships in an open environment. You. Can do Mining Salvaging Hauling Bounty hunter PvE Bounty hunter PvP Pirate other players Be pirated by other players Mercenary Prison lord. Box delivery Buying and selling cargo (different from just hauling) Exploring Cave diving. Gun running (personal fave) Medic Fuel rat. Mechanic/ handy man. And a few others. And yea. I really would like to see your reaction to star engine. If you ever do decide to get the game and want a tour. I’ll be more than happy to give you a guided tour around the verse. But you’ll need to set at least a day aside to go through the basics.
It's fun watching these SC vids. :D As for what you CAN do in SC currently (aside from flying the ships), there are gameplay loops for bounty hunting, mining, cargo hauling, racing, salvaging, etc. Just depends on what ship or equipment you have, and what you feel like doing.
If you actually want to jump into Star Citizen, the alpha of the MMO, i recommend grabbing a veteran player as a guide at this stage. It can still be rather nasty, especially now as the ripped out their old server code and shoved a new one in, even more unstable than usual until that calms down and is properly bugfixed.
I love your enthusiasm and insights into filmmaking, I've been watching your videos since the almighty algorithm put your reaction to the Squadron 42 Gameplay demo in my feed, and I love your Star Citizen videos. Watching this makes me even more excited for the game's future, because its clear to me that Cloud Imperium Games is doing the right thing to get people interested, and that's working bit by bit to get to everything they promised, while delivering all the more, and getting as many people as they can invested into the game and its universe. Squadron 42 is going to do well, I have no doubt about that. That's the singleplayer version of the game, but these ads are primarily for ships you'll only be able to fly in the Persistent Universe, the MMO aspect of the game. As for what someone does in the MMO, it really does boil down to what's the same case in just about every other MMO. Whatever the player, or their group of friends as a whole, find the most fun and rewarding to do. For instance, I'm here for the guns and the combat ships. I love running bounty missions, where I get sent all over the Stanton system to go find and shoot down whatever ne'er do well I get tasked with, turn in the mission, get another one, and if I need to, stop at a station, or on a planet to gas up and get more bullets in my fighter or ship. I typically love flying heavier fighters, but I have a Saber Firebird, and I adore it, its ton of bang for its buck, and it hits above its weight class as a medium fighter very well. I've still seen people do what I can do with my Firebird, or my Lightning with a light fighter (being completely transparent, most of the times they do it _A LOT_ better than I do,) but that's the big thing with Star Citizen. It lets you find what you like, what you want to fly, and if it suits your playstyle, its available for you to fly it. I also have a Polaris, the big, menacing ship that I was thrilled you enjoyed the ad for, because it lives up to the hype from the ad. It is a beast, and even though I'm the "Captain," and the center chair on the bridge is mine, my friend group that plays doesn't quite have the numbers for me to just sit in the big chair, so I'm left to usually man one of the gun turrets, and hand out missions, while my pilot gets us where we need to go, my other buddies usually hunker down in their preferred turret, and we bring on random players to fill up the rest of the crew positions. The ship says it has a minimum effective crew of nine, and can take as many as 14 or even more to fully crew every position. I can easily see it taking up to 20 if the ship owner brings a lot of small fighters like the Mirai Fury, and another great thing about SC is that if you can fit that fighter or vehicle in your hangar, you can take it. So as a result, we just take whatever we think is necessary, and its a fun evening for the entire group. Other times, when there's just a few of us, we take out one of our member's Reclaimer, and just chill, salvaging ships and building up money for all of us to divvy up, and fund our own little adventures. Salvaging is pretty much pure chill and relaxation, shoot the shit with your buddies, and pad your wallet a bit more when you're done. We don't have anyone that's really invested in exploration right now, sure, but maybe in the future we'll find or recruit someone that loves that part of gameplay, and we'll have fun with it. The only really big "warning" I'd give is that Star Citizen is still in an Alpha gameplay state. It has its growing pains, and it has its issues. Sometimes, its difficult to even log in. Other times when you do log in, its a bit of a nightmare getting your preferred playstyle to work, but I've been playing since Jan 2021, and I can say with absolute honesty, the game has made _insane_ progress to what it wants to be. They're actually getting through the backlog of ships now, and they have their first player owned combat focused capital ship, the Polaris, ingame now. Game systems are improving drastically. Server meshing is having a massive, and noticeable impact on actual gameplay performance. If you want to give Star Citizen a shot, please do. There's no end to the list of new player friendly, genuinely good natured groups of players out there that will welcome you to the 'verse. Poke your head in, explore, and look around. You'll be amazed, just like I was.
Dude thank u for ur content, one hour passed like a minute. For me as a russian, 50% of the video was about your reactions, and the other half was about trying to understand the accent. Love ur beautiful british accent, ty mate XD. As other commentators have already mentioned, there is still a lot of SC content, such as: "Invictus launch Week" (4-5 short videos, I like them the most) "IAE" (2-3 episodes of videos) and of course "Star Engine", can't wait to see.
I had one of the Hurcules Starlifters, it was our groups heavy lifter, we used it for vehicle transport (ground or small ships), used it as a meat shield to soak up damage in group combat, used it for cargo hauling (particularly handy when you took out some bad guys and stole all their drugs to go sell 😆). PS: that bomb it dropped in the video was basically a MOAB or mini nuke, they just didn't show it go off lol We now have a Polaris for that job, even bigger and more rediculous.
The thing about this game is what it promises. Life in space. The different planets in the first system, Stanton, each have a different SCI-FI style. One is a city-planet. Another is a floating city on a gas giant. The next is a resort hi-tech city on a frozen world. The last is the Industrial wasteland world. Recently, they released the second system, Pyro, which is a lawless derelict filled system with an unstable sun. You can do any number of game loops from first person combat to large scale cargo missions. You can zen out doing salvage missions or go save players in medical rescue missions created by the players. There is a ton of things you can do that have nothing to do with missions, also. A couple of for instance options would be mining, or the emerging hunting game play. As well as PVP in the new Contested Zones or in events that happen in game, where you can either choose to ally with the local security or ally with the criminals that are the antagonists. They are getting ready to introduce crafting and base building which is basically setting up the endgame content. Player created space stations.
U can do BH missions, Merc for hire, Hauler, Salvage, Mining, Medic, and those are the basic jobs from legal side, other then that there is the illegal one like: Hitman, Smuggler, pirate (this one is not mission based, but more of a sandbox gameplay) and few more. (prison is a thing in this game, max sentense is only 26h IRL time) .. But mainly you are experiencing immersion breaking bugs. Worth to note some of the Ads were recorded ingame probably
these are not itch, these are promos for ships in star citizen (MMORPG version of squadron 42, online-only, set in the same star systems sq42 takes place in, but you are a citizen, and you do whatever you want. And the ships in the clips sell for real money, as well as in-game. So these are in a way real adverts showing what ships can do in game and their strong sides, etc) p.s. starlifter question - transport large cargo hauls, heavy machinery to where its needed, heavy armaments deployment, and the black one is bomber with warheads that decimate everything in 500m radius. Btw Gatsby is 1.5 larger then carrack and carrack is 1.5-2 times larger then starlifter, sooooo, starlifter is tiny another funny thing, a lot of videos you commented on lighting are recorded in-game, with no lighting changes, just by positioning camera and ship(for ex the corsair advert)
Yeah, the actual game uses a physicalized star at the center of the start system (which is huge) to cast daylight onto every object in the system (that isn't eclipsed by another object). The planets have actual day/night cycles due to their rotation.
44:00 well, you can do many things. you can be a bounty hunter of other players, a pve bounty hunter, space mining, planetary surface mining, security detail for an 890J, security detail for a bunker of some sort on a planet, security detail for a satellite, you can stop drug dealer players, can facilitate the creation and sale of drugs, you can be a pirate, gun for hire, cargo runner, interdiction of ships, ship repairman, ship refueler, scrapper, ship dismantler, salvage runner, and im sure im missing some things. In the future, you'll be able to use the resources that are mined or salvaged to create things that can then be sold. Theres a ship called the Banu Merchantman that'll be added eventually, and it's essentially a shopping mall with engines. There are also ships like the Drake Kraken that are more militaristic and will be used for either defense or pirating. Also, eventually you'll be able to make your own permanent home almost anywhere on the planets. Theres another ship that specializes in the repair and rebuilding of peoples ships, so like a mechanic on the road. There are many different things you can do in this game, hence why you've seen so many different gameplay mechanics shown in the ship ads and trailers here and in the first one.
Thanks for your commentary - it's been a lot of interesting info you wouldn't normally even notice as a standard consumer! Yes, the Carrack has been a fan favourite from its early announcement and CiG knew that when they finally introduced that ship to the game they had to deliver an outstanding trailer for it. 😎👍
The thing with star citizen,,, you can be whatever,, with those Herculeses for example, at 32:20 ish,, the black one is a bomber, carrying practically a nuke,,, the white is a cargo transport,,, grey is a upgunned version of the white one, you can wage large-scale wars with hundreds of players (once server meshing works properly,,,),, some of the biggest ships in game,,, the Javelin for example, cost 3000 USD,,, you can in the future also craft it,, buy it,, steal it,,,, that's a almaost 500 meter long ship you can fully walk in,,, the biggest warship currently beeing the Polaris,,, 160 osme meters,,,, then its the 890J,, 220 meter long yatch basicly,,, fly around and party, drink, have fun,,, do osme mining in the prospector,, mole, ROC,,, maybe scrap old abandoned ships with your reclaimer or Vulture,,,, the game... Is waht you want it to be,, you do whatever you want, piracy or police, gangleader or PMC, mining or salvaging, cargo hauling or exploring and for every patch and update, we get new things, new mechanics, new ships, we just recently got a 2nd star system,, Pyro,, one of many star systems to come to Star Citizen,, enxt on the list beeing Castra, Nyx and Terra, Just to give an idea of the system,, Stanton which was our first system,, basicly ruled by the UEE, heavly enforced by the law,, while Pyro is a Pirate's dream, no laws, no rules, a dying star that occasionally shoots out a EMP shutting off your ships,,, or in worst case scenario, kills you if you're outside (that mechanic isnt in game, but was demostrated in 2023 december tech preview) This game is just a margin of what it can and will become, i love it, it both looks gorgeouse and feels amazing,, sure its a lot of issues atm,, desync, server issues, bugs,, but its beeing worked on,, its truly a game worth trying, borrow someone's account, or even mine as i got 2 accs, one i kinda dont use as i just lend it to whoever want to try the game, just,, give it a try, its hard to learn the game, lot to think about, 100 of keybindings, but its something you get used to, and once you do? it's absolutley worth it, even if you just want to fly around making videos, ads, movies,,, its all possible
Enjoyed that. Will try to answer some questions for you. Some of the adverts like The Reunion were created to show off improvements and tools in the engine as well as trying to sell a ship/experience. There is a ton of lore created about the universe outside of Squadron 42(the singleplayer campaign) and sometimes they pepper that throughout these adverts to build the world and show off some game aspects. What do you do in this game? Well... It's an MMO sandbox that you can jump into. You are a person who just lives in the world and creates your own story with the gameplay they add over the years and interact with the ships and people in it. You can do various missions such as delivery, hauling, recovery, salvage contracts, fps and ship assassinations, racing and bounty hunting. Or you can just dive into universe and hop in a ship with your mates fly around and create your own content, be it piracy of other players, mining, trading, roleplay, creating machinima, fleet battles, exploring and looting locations and use your wealth to buy ships, vehicles, paints, armor, weapons, etc. There isn't much in terms of story content at this time but it is planned along with a ton of other features such as crafting, basebuilding, engineering and repairing. But honestly it can be a buggy mess and it's not for the casual gamer in my opinion it can be extremely frustrating as well as rewarding so be warned. Probably better to wait for Squadron 42 to take your first steps into the game as there is a steep learning curve and that should be a more polished experience. Alternatively you can just jump in during a freefly event and try it for nothing, or you only need a starter pack to play and you can earn all the ships in game.
I was waiting for this! i thought it would come tommorow. but no, here it is. THX a LOT. i needed this. (i'll watch it now) Edit (after watching): - enjoyed it a LOT - I’m not explaining what you do in SC, others did that quite well already. @ironwarr for example - could you maybe explain a bit more why and what you didn’t like (or liked). For example I couldn’t really understand what you didn’t like, I just remember „Crash Zooms“. Would have loved some more explaining and more info so I can relate more. Thx for the amazing (SC) content. Hope to see more!
1:02:00 That was actually a bit of 'in game lore' That pilot that is shown and who has the 'animation based flashbacks', is a test-pilot, and she was the first one to either successfully navigate a jump-point (going to a different solar system) , or do a quantum-jump (the games version of faster than light travel). :)
It was the in-system quantum jump. I think that it was Nick Croshaw who later accidentally found the first jump point (wormhole) to another star system (which was named in his honor).
Whats also great about the commercials is the use of the ships in the background. Every enemy ship is one from a competing manufacturer, and when support ships are present, they are always from the brand that made the commercial
Star Citizen is a role playing/flight sim game. A Game where on paper, you can haul freight, pvp, bounty hunt, be a mercenary, medical support, race, mine, salvage, spend time in jail by doing criminal activities, sell drugs, knock over drug dealers and general unsavory individuals, take illegal job requests. All on a scale relative to your ship size and role, reputation with companies, organizations, and authorities. There is word of base building and crafting coming into play but its not in game yet. Oh! The laser looking thing is a tractor beam that helps lift objects, dead people and boxes. Some are fitted onto ships and vehicles, some are portable for intricate work.
At 51:04, the names they list and some of the voices they used are from players and content creators who have set up an ingame racing tournament and instruct other players in racing techniques.
Yay we'll get to see that MSR advert in this one! Finding Kai, he has singlehanded made me regret not pursuing a film major/cinematography when I was in college but well it's never too late to make a change...
I never knew there was so much art and science to making commercials. Thanks for explaining all these elements in your video. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Found you because you did Star Citizen stuff, but looking forward to seeing more vids, SC or otherwise!
The C1 Spirit commercial is probably my favorite. I love how it's just straight up a classic pickup truck commercial. That was the first ship I upgraded to. Love it. But I had to let it go to upgrade to something else. I currently have another, but it's just a stepping stone to something else.
Since you ask a lot what do you do in this game here is a list of gameloops that you can paly in the current version of SC: -Trading and Hauling -Salvage -Mining -FPS combat -Ship combat -Refueling (mostly bugged/not working) The gameworld currently consist out of 2 star systems with plenty of fully traversable planets and moons. Here are some gameloops that are planned for future updates: -Engineering -Exploration -Refining -Datarunning -Hacking -Science Feel free to add if I forgot something :)
With big ships like that, you can actually park stuff in it, like the cars and tanks that they’ve shown in some of them. They also typically have more mounting points for weapons in fights. Salvage, cargo, mining, racing, bounty hunting, piracy and smuggling (i’m sure there’s other stuff too) are the actual activities available.
What we genuinely do in this game: 1. falling through floors 2. falling through ships 3. waiting for elevators 4. falling through elevators ... all sorts of things
Awl man, I was so hyped to see Kai react to all things Jax. Didn't realize his yearly sets wasn't included in the ship commercials. :( -- Every expo, he goes on a daily top gear storyline that connects each episode while promoting ships.
To answer your question (as a big ship owner), I tend to crew it well under it's recommended and ye and my friend live in the big ships while using other various launch ships for smaller tasks. We stick around 1 planet to avoid quantum consumption.
What *I* do in this game is to break out my cutlass black, load a dragonfly hoverbike into the back, and do mercenary work. Using the cutlass to kill ship targets, the dragonfly to get into ground bases unnoticed by ship defenses, and fight on foot to complete whatever contract i have, then extract and sell whatever loot i found. If i want to relax more, i take the cutlass and use it's internal space to haul cargo, a simple relaxing bit of space UPS delivery. There's also the option of fitting some stolen goods in the back if i come across something that fell off a truck out there in space... I'm a Drake pilot through and through, the cutlass black (tango theme) commercial from part 1 is what spoke to me and drew me in. There's a lot to do in this game, many different gameplayloops within a sandbox universe. (Many still not finished and buggy). It's worth remembering that this game is still in alpha.
I was gonna say. The Hull-C's Long Haul Ad is my favorite. I was wondering where the music went
Horray for part 2! Hope you enjoyed my info and that video I linked ya last time!
That's actually odd... sofar as i knew, CIG used all of their own music for their stuff.
For your question about what the game is about. I think the easiest comparison is GTA V. Just get a ship. And do what you want. Follow the story? Follow the missions or just get together with a few dozen friends and reenact a war. Maybe just get a ship and keep finding new places. Every planet is fully walkable. So there is a million places nobody else has set a foot on
49:35 funnily enough, the people giving the voice over are real players who are prominent in the racing scene of the game
I loved that ad for that very reason. They came across as so professional though it would be easy to mistake them for being actors pretending to be racers.
whaaat? - that's awesome
I know others said in the last one, but star engine would be a great one to check out for more star citizen as well as the short story bits from previous IAE shows featuring more of legally distinct space clarkson Jax Mcleary!
100%
Oh yea definitely the star engine demo 💯
Yes definitely, I said that in the last video comments, Star Engine is what made me bite the bullet and purchase a good PC to back SC.
Honorable mention is the "Destination Pyro"
Still alot is player made.
o7
I came here to say just that! The one thing to add is: Doing it all with friends! That's what really lifts the game to huge heights.
* when it works xD
you missed out it can be used as a movie set and with all the camera controls with some team work a major movie studio in your own home lol
I had so much fun working on a lot of these. Glad you appreciate it!
You need to watch the IAE 2952: Part 1 -> Part 10, which is kind of a short film / ship commercial when combined.
Upvoted. He is missing out if he doesn't see the best of the Jax content.
this is so true
The Jax McCleary story one are some of my favorites.
The design is based on the original concept for the Millennium Falcon.
I wish they make some episodes and sell to netflix
isnt the blue chap a banu?
@@8_ball_majick He is, yeah, his name's Mas Houlan. She mentions it a couple times but the passcode for the handcuffs is in Banu too
@@SunnySzetoSz2000 watch the Squadron 42 Demo. There you will get that.
Astronaut 1: Wait, it's all just ads for selling ships?
Astronaut 2: Always has been...
ship and fork lift. but there wasn t a Raptor one too?
A little bit of information, the Zeus MKII commercial is very lore driven, because it displays the story of the first spacecraft and pilot to enter quantum in 2137, Star Citizen takes place in 2955 and the Zeus MKI was concepted and made by the first interplanetary spacecraft company, RSI, a company founded in an alternate timeline by inventor Chris Roberts in the year 2038, his company later solved overpopulation and made humanity an interplanetary species, this makes the Zeus commercial more powerful and relevant game wise
I've been looking forward to this all week. I've got a few of your questions answered here
33:15 The Hercules Starlifter is mainly a cargo ship.
59:41 see what I said at 43:56
I'm sure you have more questions, and I'm more than happy to answer them if you read and reply to this message.
There are also several free weeks for the game on a regular basis if you want to check it out for free.
he did watch the 2024 CitizenCon Live Demo for SQ42, which is IMO better than the 2023 version
Thank you so much for popping in 🙏🏻
I think the biggest problem is a lot of people see it from the outside, not playing it but getting news about it once or twice a year and most of those news is "ohhh it takes so long".
Well said
The great thing about SC is that 95% of the spots have no extra light source added. Everything you can see here is just as beautiful to look at ingame as in the trailers
Round 2! Let's GOOOOOO!!!!
OK, just got done. amazing reactions to the commercials, i hope that someone at CIG can pass your reactions around for the accolades as well as tips and changes for their future shots. oh and if you are ever in the Manchester area and want to stop by Cloud Imperium Games for a visit, you should, who knows maybe you can make some commercial-- i mean adverts for them.
as to what you can do in the game, you can basically live out your space life in the game. i mainly run FPS missions, as well as a little dru-- i mean pharmaceutical distribution and working on some Machinima videos as well. just note that the game is still in development, so expect bugs, instability, incomplete tech, mechanics and content. oh and, if you can, i HIGHLY advise playing with a veteran who can guide you, but still let you lead, so you can still get to experience the game at your pace and discretion, but the veteran can be there to guide you if/when you need help, so they are not just leading you by the nose through everything.
i am really looking forward to you watching the Star Engine demo, i highly recommend this version from their official page, it is the highest definition and has clearer and more concise text to give context to the tech and visuals on screen, though it is more tech focused, but you might enjoy it as much as many of us do regardless ua-cam.com/video/nWm_OhIKms8/v-deo.htmlsi=NHN5q2OwhRcpHxMl
if you decide to take the plunge to try out the game and need help, i would be happy to help, as i am sure many in the comment section would be too. hope to see a video of your experience in The 'Verse as well soon O7
@@R1po never said it didn't have issues, he asked what can you do in this game. I answered. Thanks!
I have to let you know a couple major points:
There is a STEEP learning curve, but the community will help you out there for sure!
8:30 Its funny how the Ship being advertised is the Mantis and its prey is the Caterpiller cargo ship
There's also some star ship commercials in the Whitley's Guide segments (the top gear-escque continuation of Galactic Tour for most of the yearly in-game events), the Nomad comes to mind as an example
The "Reunion" was showcasing the ship - Mercury Starrunner" as well as playstyle in the Star Citizen (sandbox) environment not Squadron 42.
33:15 The Crusader Starlifter (there are 3 variants)
The A2 has HUGE bombs that you can use to clear out ground targets.
You have enough cargo space to carry the "Ballista" (If you remember the advert that played backwards?) or 3 tanks (if you want to get snug)
The C2 looses MORE guns as well as some armor but gets MORE cargo space. (You can stack the cargo higher)
Defenetly watch the IAE series( Intergalactic Aerospace Expo) for star citizen , its more of the jax Macleere guy and it gets better with every iteration and yes, the expo is in game and its pretty cool
1:01:10 The "Where do you want it?" was actually in the teaser for the ATLS, and I think it was also painted yellow.
IIRC, the Racing bit with the people talking at 50:00, the ones who are talking are some of the top players who regularly race
you were asking what we can do.... The answer so far: Bounty Hunting, Cargo hauling, racing, PVE/PVP, scavenging (ship scavenging), and they still plan on more stuff that you'll be able to do in time to come.
It's funny you mention 5th element. there's a German team redoing 5th element frame by frame in SC :D
The reunion is the story about that ship and its crew. It is a famous ship of contrabandist. It is also an ad for the Mercury Star Runner, a Millenium Falcon inspired ship
Those "aerial shots" are on a planet called micro tech and that's what it looks like when flying around. 😊
Yay! Part Two!
Reunion was just a very elaborate ship commercial for the Mercury which basically is SC's version of the Millennium Falcon.
The color pallet is Money...... When my accountant asks "why is there an 800 spend on RSI?" I show him the corresponding advert......😊
I'm doing the same with mine...
But she's not amused somehow.
Poor thing. 😉🤣
That's why I'm melting / CCUing ships. 🫡
For the commercials that didn't specify the ship, or event, you have to look at the URLs.
The star wars looking movie, was the mercury star runner by Crusader. The url said the ship/manufacturer.
The red painted ships with fireworks was Chinese new year (lunar new year/red festival)
The one with the green colored ships, and the truck jumping into the back of a ship was labeled Stella fortuna. And URL was /stpatrickday
They hide some of the names in the URLs to keep the commercials as immersion as possible.
3, not 2
To be fair some of these commercials are filmed in extremely limited time in a test server that's very buggy because the commercials have to come out before the ships and the ships are worked on till the last second.
they also like to nerf these ships which are half finished and call it a WIP while adding newer ships with more updated interiors and physicalisation
@@joshjonson2368 The meta in every MMO changes massively & constantly. Especially when it's not done. Buying the latest ship because of some announced power benefit is unintelligent. New ships are the buggiest of them all.

I seriously cant wait to see your reaction to the star engine tech. Specifically the zooms between planets and stuff. It's insane.
Done that jump ingame. It's fun. And it was basically just an add for the skins, just like the one before. Chinese New Year and St. Paddy's Day.
Your typical day playing Star Citizen
in 4 different flavors.
I'm so glad this is going to age badly. Let's come back in a year, so you can reminisce
half the game is dealing so much server failure to the point you have to hop servers or just quit and hope to rearrange a group mission on less congested hours
You asked what we all do in the game, I buy and sell commodities between stations and spaceports for profit with a cargo hauler, but when base building gets added I will be buying and selling to get a mining ship then that mining ship will bring the resources to a Refiniery at a station, then the excess gets shipped and sold by me and the leftovers go to a base building ship which then gets used to make buildings, this is the goal for this game, where all players and their respective game loops are connected for an experience unlike any other game, thats the idea anyway, and it goes deeper than that, with cargo hauling or base defense I can find people in the game to protect my shipment or base and I pay them and thats their game loop and how it mixes with mine, eventually all of these ways to play connect, forming an inter-connected web of content anyone can get into and enjoy
its a great sandbox right now. sadly while we have the hot wheels, scoop shovles and rakes. we are still missing the buckets and the big tonka trucks.
@@HighmageDerin not the analogy i was expecting but it works😅🤣
Overclocked Noir is another to check out too
"what do you do with a big ship like that....?" whatever you want.....
arrange combined arms, piracy, carry vehicles to races, conduct ship meets, combat operations, cargo operations, salvaging support.... pretty much anything you choose to.
also the planet tech that CIG are working on currently called Genesis... is not just one thing, it's evolution, ecology of planets... the sound, the weather and I must say when I (like many others) were blown away with how the realistic the new sound and weather etc is to become...
also the StarEngine video is phenomenal... imo that is... plus it's in engine cinema which is the quality we as Citizens see the game each time we play, even on low the game looks amazing, but ramp it upto photo mode and holy hell...
plus the only loading screen you'll get is when you first load into the game....
there is no other loading screen from that point on... everything is for the most part smooth and hell there are times when I'll just sit in orbit of a planet, in third person view showing the ship and the sun emerging from the other side of the planet...or risk getting shot part way into a mission, just to watch the sun rise or set.. it truly is remarkable with what they have achieved
I'm so glad you liked the Carrack one (because it's my favorite ship obviously)
The minimovie was used to showcase how SQ42 narrative will be done. They did it as an ad to for the Mercury which was the ship of the main character (and showing another alien race, the Banu). They usually use these to showcase the evolution of the techs.
The one with the timelapse was done because moving the cargo is very long, it's a gameplay loop in the game (as you have asked multiple times about what we can do in the game is too long to explain here)
I can't wait to see your react over the Star Engine.
Answer. Whatever you like
It’s a first person opensandbox where you fly space ships in an open environment.
You. Can do
Mining
Salvaging
Hauling
Bounty hunter PvE
Bounty hunter PvP
Pirate other players
Be pirated by other players
Mercenary
Prison lord.
Box delivery
Buying and selling cargo (different from just hauling)
Exploring
Cave diving.
Gun running (personal fave)
Medic
Fuel rat.
As for what you CAN do in SC currently (aside from flying the ships), there are gameplay loops for bounty hunting, mining, cargo hauling, racing, salvaging, etc.
30:55 this is straight-up Firefly / Serenity!! From the music to the chase ending with the ship catching the runners!! So awesome!!
PS: that bomb it dropped in the video was basically a MOAB or mini nuke, they just didn't show it go off lol
We now have a Polaris for that job, even bigger and more rediculous.
So these are in a way real adverts showing what ships can do in game and their strong sides, etc)
p.s. starlifter question - transport large cargo hauls, heavy machinery to where its needed, heavy armaments deployment, and the black one is bomber with warheads that decimate everything in 500m radius. Btw Gatsby is 1.5 larger then carrack and carrack is 1.5-2 times larger then starlifter, sooooo, starlifter is tiny
another funny thing, a lot of videos you commented on lighting are recorded in-game, with no lighting changes, just by positioning camera and ship(for ex the corsair advert)
I demand a video on Star Citizen IAE clips. 😂❤ Big EXPO that shows all ships and releases new ones as well... 😎🙏🏻🇧🇷
There is way more ships to see.😅
Thanks for your commentary - it's been a lot of interesting info you wouldn't normally even notice as a standard consumer!
Yes, the Carrack has been a fan favourite from its early announcement and CiG knew that when they finally introduced that ship to the game they had to deliver an outstanding trailer for it. 😎👍
17:50 Oh! The (in)Famous Mercury Star Runner (from Crusader Industries) called the "Belligerent Duck"!
Mine is named the "Angry Badger". 🤣
The thing with star citizen,,,
you can be whatever,, with those Herculeses for example, at 32:20 ish,, the black one is a bomber, carrying practically a nuke,,, the white is a cargo transport,,, grey is a upgunned version of the white one, you can wage large-scale wars with hundreds of players (once server meshing works properly,,,),, some of the biggest ships in game,,, the Javelin for example, cost 3000 USD,,, you can in the future also craft it,, buy it,, steal it,,,, that's a almaost 500 meter long ship you can fully walk in,,, the biggest warship currently beeing the Polaris,,, 160 osme meters,,,, then its the 890J,, 220 meter long yatch basicly,,, fly around and party, drink, have fun,,, do osme mining in the prospector,, mole, ROC,,, maybe scrap old abandoned ships with your reclaimer or Vulture,,,, the game... Is waht you want it to be,, you do whatever you want, piracy or police, gangleader or PMC, mining or salvaging, cargo hauling or exploring
and for every patch and update, we get new things, new mechanics, new ships, we just recently got a 2nd star system,, Pyro,, one of many star systems to come to Star Citizen,, enxt on the list beeing Castra, Nyx and Terra,
Just to give an idea of the system,, Stanton which was our first system,, basicly ruled by the UEE, heavly enforced by the law,, while Pyro is a Pirate's dream, no laws, no rules, a dying star that occasionally shoots out a EMP shutting off your ships,,, or in worst case scenario, kills you if you're outside (that mechanic isnt in game, but was demostrated in 2023 december tech preview)
This game is just a margin of what it can and will become, i love it, it both looks gorgeouse and feels amazing,, sure its a lot of issues atm,, desync, server issues, bugs,, but its beeing worked on,, its truly a game worth trying, borrow someone's account, or even mine as i got 2 accs, one i kinda dont use as i just lend it to whoever want to try the game, just,, give it a try, its hard to learn the game, lot to think about, 100 of keybindings, but its something you get used to, and once you do? it's absolutley worth it, even if you just want to fly around making videos, ads, movies,,, its all possible
The music accompanied with the Carrack was the
Star Citizen Soundtrack - Jump Point (Pedro Macedo Camacho)
I was waiting for this! i thought it would come tommorow. but no, here it is. THX a LOT. i needed this. (i'll watch it now)
Edit (after watching):
- enjoyed it a LOT
- I’m not explaining what you do in SC, others did that quite well already. @ironwarr for example
- could you maybe explain a bit more why and what you didn’t like (or liked).
@@randlebrowne2048 I can never keep the two strait.. i just remember she was the first to do one or the other :D
Thanks for the video! It was amazing to hear your opinions on all videos :)
Yay we'll get to see that MSR advert in this one! Finding Kai, he has singlehanded made me regret not pursuing a film major/cinematography when I was in college but well it's never too late to make a change...
So happy we didnt have to wait months for part 2 !
I never knew there was so much art and science to making commercials. Thanks for explaining all these elements in your video. I thoroughly enjoyed it! Found you because you did Star Citizen stuff, but looking forward to seeing more vids, SC or otherwise!
That's awesome to read and thank you for being here fella.
YES!!! I've been waiting since part 1, refreshing your channel page once in a while, waiting for this to come out XD
I love my MISC Starlancer and so do you! Thanks for teaching me so much about filmography.
The C1 Spirit commercial is probably my favorite. I love how it's just straight up a classic pickup truck commercial. That was the first ship I upgraded to. Love it. But I had to let it go to upgrade to something else. I currently have another, but it's just a stepping stone to something else.
Since you ask a lot what do you do in this game here is a list of gameloops that you can paly in the current version of SC:
-Trading and Hauling
-Salvage
-Mining
-FPS combat
-Ship combat
-Refueling (mostly bugged/not working)
The gameworld currently consist out of 2 star systems with plenty of fully traversable planets and moons.
Here are some gameloops that are planned for future updates:
-Engineering
-Exploration
-Refining
-Datarunning
-Hacking
-Science
Feel free to add if I forgot something :)
Really enjoying you watching any Star Citizen stuff! I'm learning a lot about filming and camerawork through watching this, a nice bonus :)
Yessss, just finished part 1 and right on time for part 2. Love seeing this series so far!
What we genuinely do in this game:
1. falling through floors
2. falling through ships
3. waiting for elevators
4. falling through elevators
... all sorts of things
