I've never gotten more than 22 hours with the galaxy watch 7 on my wrist (44mm). Whereas the galaxy watch 6 44mm I could stretch to a day and 20 hours on a good day. I haven't changed anything related to my routine of using a smartwatch

who the hell turns off heart rate? Sleep tracking is a joke and especially with Samsung. Quantified Scientist just did a review on it and like all Samsung watches, the sleep tracking sucks. Heart rate information is way more important. You go to bed, you sleep, you get up. You know if it was a good or lously sleep. Something could be happening with your heart though and you turn that sensor off? Not a good idea.
this actually looks pretty good. not a fan of the removal of wireless power share compatibility, and some OS bugs/quirks you mentioned aren't ideal. but if I can get it with a decent discount at some point it looks pretty good. I still kind of prefer the pebble/like rounded design of the Pixel watch, so still unsure. But the new watch bands of the 7 do look cool. I do wish the rotating bezel was on this one too tbh, but maybe the next Classic will be a strong contender too.
I upgraded from my watch 4 to the 7 and I love it!! I still have to get use to the new changes I was use but it’s fun finding out all the cool new features.
I am in the same situation, I want to upgrade from 4 to 7 of 44mm but I am thinking which will be the best color? Right now my watch 4 is black, from my point of view the green is nice, but what about the white/grey , in the video is great. Please help me.
I'm coming from the 6 classic and it's still a clear upgrade. The 6 used to take around10 seconds to open samsung pay must of the time making me awkwardly wait at the cash counters. Everything in the 7 is snappy so far
Really, that's crazy. I have the watch 4 and never took that long. Maybe 2 seconds. Something was seriously wrong with your watch. I'm also upgrading to the Watch 7. Since I do think I need an upgrade now. I also got the Watch 7 with my trade in for $99.
is clearly an upgrade, we went from 1 dual-core Cortex-A55 CPU processor clocked at 1.4 GHz, to a W1000 with Cortex-A78 1.6GHz Single-core + Cortex-A55 1.5GHz Quad-core . So its a dual core VS a Penta Core theres no question its going to feel faster.
Easy one of the best tech reviews I've seen -- such a good balance of keeping things digestible while also delving into some of the nuances that matter to specific kinds of buyers. I've been contemplating making the switch from the Apple ecosystem to Samsung over the past few weeks and have scoured through hours of reviews/comparison videos on youtube at this point, but this one easily gave me the most insights around the watch experience. You've got a sub from me and I'll definitely be looking through more of your Samsung content. Keep up the amazing work!
GREAT REVIEW THAO !!! I've been subscribed to your channel for a few years now and I thoroughly enjoy your video detailed revies on tech. I've owned Galaxy watches 4, 5 and 6 and now since watching your most informative review on the 7, and Samsung offering $250 Trade In (over ($200 Trade in two weeks ago) , for $75 Net, I'm going to take the plunge. (Too bad there is no black sports band, huh?) Thao, I really appreciate your deep dive into the Specs and differences, improvements, hints , suggestions, comments and opinions. I can see myself watching your video as I set up my new Galaxy Watch 7 in a few days. Thanks again for your great review. Keep up your great work. Latterz, Steve
Thao, thank you for mentioning the rouge BG app problem at 5:32. I have the Ultra, and for more than a week have been failing to get a day or a day/half out of it. I restarted it, checked the app status, and it seems to be quite a bit better already. I hope this bug is fixed soon!
Yep, I have the same thing with my Watch 4, I used to restart my watch whenever this happened but it always came back. Will definitely try the recent apps menu now as I completely forgot about it.
This has happened with me on my galaxy watch 4 about 3 times over the 2 years I've had it. A couple of times I had to factory reset the watch. Everything seems to be okay now but after the third time I've refused to download Google assistant in fear of it happening again
Great video Thao! No you’re not the only one that had the google assistant battery draining issue, it happened to my watch 6 classic when I first got it. But excellent review as always, I was debating on upgrading due to the processor speed increase, but I’ll wait for next year’s classic refresh!
Hello, Thao? I am a Korean living in Korea, and I always refer to your reviews when I want to see the reviews of Samsung products. I'm satisfied with this review because it's quite meticulous that doesn't go against my expectations. Most UA-camrs in Korea seem professional, but there are also a lot of reviews that are not professional... apart from the high and low number of subscribers.... Well, I think there are a lot of things that I agree with thao. In the first place, the Galaxy Watch is not a dedicated chipset from the early models to the 6 series, and there are many cases of duplication and stuttering until recently, so I doubt that this 7 series is a "real change." I think the conclusion I can draw is not "change," but "it's finally on track and it's useful." From this result value, it can be a "real change" only when it is maintained or developed in the future. Well, it's just my opinion. ^^ Thank you for the video. ^^
oh my gosh, the rogue app thing is SO REAL! I've woken up with my watch dead on many occasions after charging it fully the night before, it even happened twice in one day at some point, and it's ALWAYS UA-cam MUSIC!!! anyway, lovely review as usual Thao, but I think I'm keeping my 6😅
I've been wearing a Galaxy S3 Frontier watch for many years and just upgraded to a Galaxy 7 watch today. So far its been very smooth. I didn't get the Ultra since it did not come in WiFi only. Did not need a cellular connection.
Impressive job on the video! I upgraded from a GW4 Classic to the GW7. I was amazed at the differences, especially the responsiveness and how fast it charges with a 10W charger. I got the 44mm version and just ordered the 40mm version for my wife, who also had a GW4 Classic. With the trade-in and military discount it was only $79.xx plus tax. What an incredible deal!
we JUST got the watch 6 I feel. I was saving up for that and suddenly the 7 is out? its getting quite difficult to keep up with samsung's so many launches. Good thing I switched to OnePlus. Also I miss the MST feature from the original gear devices and the rotating bezel should be a must in all their mainstream watches.
The watch looks great, but... recharging every day? I use my Huawei GT4 Pro and with intens usage I have to recharge it once a week. Otherwise once every two weeks... and this watch is fast and looks great. Yes, you're right... it's a different brand. But I'm a Samsung phone user and would like everything from the same manufacturer, but Samsung watches are not convincing enough.
i’m not too well-versed on the exact features huawei offers with their watches. oneplus is also known for 12 days of usage, but on power save mode, and there’s a difference in the apps they have running in the back.
For those of you women who may be wondering, I'm coming out of a watch 5 Pro and I purchased the titanium silver watch Ultra and my gosh is it beautiful. I have a very small wrist and I was really a little anxious about it coming after watching so many videos and seeing the size of the watch on guys with small wrists . The Galaxy Ultra actually sits and looks better on my wrist than the watch 5 Pro did which kind of looked a little awkward even though I was fine with it. If you're a woman and wondering if the ultra is too big for you I would say if you haven't ordered it already just walk into a Best Buy and try it on and see for yourself even though I pre-ordered mine. I concur with all that she said about the snappiness. And even though I just got mine yesterday I put it in sleep mode last night and it went in immediately. It's really a nice upgrade whether you get the ultra or the standard the new software and Chip really do make a difference and add to a pleasant experience. I can't wait to go out on my first morning 4 Mile Walk and a workout. I'm really pleased with what Samsung has done .

Well, the ultra is bigger than the watch in this video and the watch in this video is way too big for her wrist. So I imagine the ultra looks huge on your wrist. For a watch the size of the ultra you need a decent sized wrist to pull it off or it just looks ridiculous.
I mean I like the new watch the pictures don't do it justice and stop saying that Apple and Samsung are copycats because everyone's copying each other nowadays but this design has been around since 1932 and Samsung actually had it out on a sports watch a few years ago before Apple even came out with its watch design
The design choices Samsung chose was very similar to Apple, and for a reason. The orange colour is so the watch can be seen underwater if you're planning to dive, the holes on the watch is for ventilation and less weight. The only things that you can logically say Samsung copied apple for is the "Quick Button" and some of the features in the watch software.
Apple isn't the one mocking them in commercials and proceed to do the same thing...

@@Hawonku yet Apple has just announced they are copying Samsung and making a flip/fold phone. Everybody copies each other and why not? If there is a good idea, you use it. A company would be stupid not to.
Just got my watch7 yesterday. Traded in my watch 4 and am enjoying it so far. Very informative video. Nice to see someone reviewing the regular model instead of the ultra.
Thanks for a good review! I upgraded from watch 4. I just love it! The new strap is much more comfortable and fits now a smaller wrist aswell! 2 days of battery life -also good. Only negative is the lack of qi charging.
A snappy watch it's all I ever wanted out of the Galaxy Watch. How's watch stability tho? It KILLED ME that the apps used to crash all the time. The fitness app and even the timer crashed at least once every 5 minutes when I went to the gym and that drove me nuts. Has that improved?
Thanks for the video, expecting to go shopping for this one today! One thing gave me a proper giggle though... "tip calculator" - got the be one of the most American things I've ever heard :D
Finally someone talking about the stutter and jankiness of the previous Samsung watches! I have been complaining about this for years and Samsung wouldn't listen. It seems they finally listened this year! I have always liked Apple Watches for their silky smooth and buttery performance,. and if the Galaxy Watch 7 fixed that this year, then that's great. My only concern, though, is the accuracy of various metrics.
I am glad you commented on Samsung forcing touch to wake to be enabled if you use the Always on Display. On prior versions of One UI this was a user controlled option. Hopefully they will change it back. Also, did you notice that the weather complication never updates the current temperature despite having it set to refresh every hour?
Just got my Ultra the other day. Honestly feels like a different company made this watch. Samsung watches have always been laggy and janky..this thing is buttery smooth with amazing haptics. Super happy with it.
Amazing review as always, killing background apps? killing is generally not recommended because apps tend to consume more battery when loaded again rather than sleeping in the background.
Do you recommend this over the 7 ultra, and do you think there are better smart watches on the market for a similar price? I've seen so many videos, and a lot of people are saying avoid samsung and go with garmin.
I hope they bring back the classic look I hope they bring the rotating bezel to the 7 soon and bring us back tizen and focus on bixby bc it used to be better before they just gave in to using Google. For me, that's what made a samsung device different than the rest.
I've owned 5 generations of the Galaxy watch. This is the first version that feels REALLY well fleshed out. The Samsung Wear and Health apps are also much better. I sold my 6 last year because I just wasn't impressed by it. However, the one thing I will say is the battery life is pretty atrocious, even without always on display turned on. It has to be charged every day like a phone, which is nuts to me. Everything else is butter smooth and high quality, though.
Galaxy 6 processor was changed to a slower chip with a slightly stronger battery for smoother operation and longer battery time. Personally I am still using a galaxy 5, and Samsung hasn't grabbed me yet to upgrade. Galaxy 7 can wait!
Hi, Thao, I found this video by chance, I really liked it. if you can tell me if these watches are charged from the ep-p5400 wireless charging (the one at the beginning of the video), I will be very grateful
i see a lot of complaints in regards of the battery for most of the users, i have almost 6 years nw with the first galaxy watch and was thinking finally to an "upgrade" seems like i won't be upgrading at all, i'll keep my watch for good
About your problem with the background app, I have the same problem with my Watch5 running WearOS 4 and One UI 5 Watch, mainly with Google Assistant, and I don't use it at all, not even Bixby
Hey, thanks for doing the review on the 7 everybody just looks at the ultra. I wasn’t going to, but I traded in my six for the seven because it was only $64 with the pre-order and the student discount so seemed worth it to me. It’s arriving later today so I’ll give it a look.
Awesome video! I agree with everything except the battery life and the accidental touches. I get 2.5 days with always on display and I have never experienced the accidental touches.
Such a techinal insight you gave to the watch from personally using the features which the real world user would actually be using, Great work done Thao :)
My problem with galaxy watches has been it auto tracks workouts when im doing dishes or just walking through my house. The 7 is even worse with it. Obviously i can turn the option off, but itll still close all of my rings for the day when i do something silly like washing my hands.
Battery drain issue happened to me on my watch 6....been a repeated problem for generations on galaxy watches It's 90 percent the Google assistant I've found a fix to this through Reddit All you have to do is delete Google assistant and make sure to delete from your phone too... otherwise it downloads again and the process repeats. Seems to work never happened since
Hopefully they make a great watch with a rotating bezel again. Ultra design is a no for me, especially with no rotating bezel and a crown that doesn't do anything? Weird.
I think Samsung missed out on a large chunk of the market by dropping the 7 classic in favor of the ridiculously expensive 7 Ultra. There are a lot of 6 classic owners that are refusing to upgrade to the watch 7 because there is no model with a rotating bezel and neither the 7 or 7 ultra look as premium and "classic" as the 6 classic. The watch 7 (ultra) is not a big enough upgrade from the 6 classic to justify giving up these features. Until a galaxy watch comes by that offers substantially more, I will be staying with my 6 classic.
I like 7 40mm with more neutral silver sheen on cream. It'll pair nicely with 20mm regular watch band to have more watch like look but it got too top heavy. Full Metal casing looks like(feels like more contemporary, refined watch active) but it feels heavier and too raised for most band. Samsung, can you get it on the first try?
Keeping my 6 as I'm sure it will get the 7 updates...which it actually did!! 😊 woke up night last week and was like okayyy SAMSUNG!! I definitely don't update my smart watches but every 2 yrs that's when I see the battery decreased. So I'll wait for the watch 8 😁 its something about those even numbers as I'm still rocking with the 22 ultra 😎 👌🏾

Hi! Are you using the 40mm or 44mm in this video? Thanks!

I've also encountered the same issue with the GW6 classic 43mm. Sometimes apps go rogue in the background and drain the battery.

That cat's wallpaper on the Fold just happens to be the same wallpaper on my phone. It caught me as a surprise just now.😅
Hi, Thao, I love and enjoy your videos so much!! 😃 Which size watch are you wearing and what color do you have on?
It's the 40mm cream
@@thao thank you 😊
Amazing review as always, killing background apps? killing is generally not recommended because apps tend to consume more battery when loaded again rather than sleeping in the background.
Well it consumes zero power when she force stops it, which is why she did it.
whats the size of your wrist and what mm is the watch?
Finally.. a review which mentions quite a bit on CPU and performance. This was my main gripe for previous watches. Thanks Thao.
Do you recommend this over the 7 ultra, and do you think there are better smart watches on the market for a similar price? I've seen so many videos, and a lot of people are saying avoid samsung and go with garmin.
The Galaxy 7 Ultra is a really nice smart watch! I just setup my watch and now ready to put it to test.
Your reviews are top-notch every time. You are definitely one of the best reviewers I have ever come across. Thank you.😊
I hope they bring back the classic look I hope they bring the rotating bezel to the 7 soon and bring us back tizen and focus on bixby bc it used to be better before they just gave in to using Google.
This feels different! This feels like a watch! Wow.
Galaxy 6 processor was changed to a slower chip with a slightly stronger battery for smoother operation and longer battery time. Personally I am still using a galaxy 5, and Samsung hasn't grabbed me yet to upgrade. Galaxy 7 can wait!
7:34 Hi Thao,
What is the name of this game you're playing on the watch ? Download from Google store or galaxy store??
Thanks a lot for this video
Hi, Thao, I found this video by chance, I really liked it. if you can tell me if these watches are charged from the ep-p5400 wireless charging (the one at the beginning of the video), I will be very grateful
Yeah, they charge on the Samsung Wireless Charger Duo
@@thao Thank you, so much
i see a lot of complaints in regards of the battery for most of the users, i have almost 6 years nw with the first galaxy watch and was thinking finally to an "upgrade" seems like i won't be upgrading at all, i'll keep my watch for good
About your problem with the background app, I have the same problem with my Watch5 running WearOS 4 and One UI 5 Watch, mainly with Google Assistant, and I don't use it at all, not even Bixby
Hey, thanks for doing the review on the 7 everybody just looks at the ultra.
I wasn’t going to, but I traded in my six for the seven because it was only $64 with the pre-order and the student discount so seemed worth it to me. It’s arriving later today so I’ll give it a look.
Ryan's Tech has great reviews on this.
Are you wearing the 40 or 44mm?
Looks like the 44
What color is the watch you displayed? Is it silver or cream
Cream
@4:52 when said "okay google" you just actually summoned my google assistant anybody else experienced this?😂
No. But that's great. 🤣
What size is the one your wearing ?
Excellent Thank you! 😃👍🏼
The beta software on the 6 classic felt way more its like that the software was just holding the hardware back on the previous watches
Awesome video! I agree with everything except the battery life and the accidental touches. I get 2.5 days with always on display and I have never experienced the accidental touches.
I got the ultra , got 2 days of battery life with aod on . Was hoping it to have at least 3 days without compromising Aod and other features....
Thao is this compatible with the wireless charger trio? My watch 4 classic is getting on a bit and looking for a replacement
Yeah works with my Duo, so the Trio should be good
Such a techinal insight you gave to the watch from personally using the features which the real world user would actually be using, Great work done Thao :)
My problem with galaxy watches has been it auto tracks workouts when im doing dishes or just walking through my house. The 7 is even worse with it. Obviously i can turn the option off, but itll still close all of my rings for the day when i do something silly like washing my hands.
How many watts is the power adapter you use to charge the watch?
What size watch it was ? 40 or 44 mm
How can I tag MKBHD lol. This is how you make REVIEWS! 😤
😂😂😂 how can I tag his millions of subscribers about this laughable comment!
huh? what exactly are you mad about? he didn’t even review the 7.
Now working fine without lags.
Battery drain issue happened to me on my watch 6....been a repeated problem for generations on galaxy watches
It's 90 percent the Google assistant
I've found a fix to this through Reddit
All you have to do is delete Google assistant and make sure to delete from your phone too... otherwise it downloads again and the process repeats.
Seems to work never happened since
8:00 Great review
Very usful.. thanks
do you recommend any nice straps for the galaxy watch 6 40mm?
Yeah... They need to work on the battery life for sure. Sometimes I can't go though the whole day.
Hopefully they make a great watch with a rotating bezel again. Ultra design is a no for me, especially with no rotating bezel and a crown that doesn't do anything? Weird.
They will with the 7 classic. The ultra is an upgrade to the 5 pro
Yes sometimes happens to me the same with Google assistant, I use with toc toc
I'm watching this with my s3 frontier on my wrist and thinking it's still not the time to upgrade... same functions 7 years later 😂
Does galaxy watch 7 supports reverse wireless charging on the s24 ultra?
I think Samsung missed out on a large chunk of the market by dropping the 7 classic in favor of the ridiculously expensive 7 Ultra. There are a lot of 6 classic owners that are refusing to upgrade to the watch 7 because there is no model with a rotating bezel and neither the 7 or 7 ultra look as premium and "classic" as the 6 classic. The watch 7 (ultra) is not a big enough upgrade from the 6 classic to justify giving up these features. Until a galaxy watch comes by that offers substantially more, I will be staying with my 6 classic.
I love the straps. I have the 6 classic and was looking to purchase one of the bands for it... It's $50 bucks, sheesh.
5:32 on my Watch6 Google Assistant always runs in the background even though I never use it
Simple Digital is a chef's kiss
