    - ABOUT THIS VIDEO -
A 65-inch tv is ideal for most living rooms and home theatres. They reach the sweet spot between size classes, allowing you to acquire a larger screen without overwhelming your room.
If picture quality is your main priority, brands like Sony and LG have numerous of top-tier OLED models. If you're willing to forsake certain expensive features like Dolby Atmos and variable refresh rate compatibility, Samsung, TCL, and Hisense offer more mid-range and budget-friendly options.

For "MOST PEOPLE" it comes down to "PRICE" Despite all the specs, and bells and whistles, most consumers are looking for the best bang for the buck AND I don't believe "MOST" consumers are interested in spending more than a thousand bucks on a tv.... Just saying

My first TV was a small Toshiba, which lasted 3 decades without a hitch. When I purchased my second TV in 2010 I went to Toshiba again and it has performed exceptionally well with a clear picture and no issues at all. I am still watching that TV now (2022). Based on my own personal experience, I will buy a Toshiba again, when the time comes to purchase a new TV.

4 years ago, I shopped for a 65" TV. I looked at LG Oleds and Samsung Qleds that were playing in the electronics stores. Of course, the TV's on display are playing constantly throughout the business day, so getting a lot of use. While the Oled produced a nice picture when working properly, I saw some where the screen looked terrible from image "burn-in", apparently from the long playing times. That to me was an indication of what would happen over time at home. So, I was not going to take a chance on an Oled for such an expensive purchase. The Qled produced a beautiful picture too, without the risk of burn-in, so I got the Samsung. Still going with no trouble for over 4 years old now, and I'm delighted with it. I'm surprised they still sell Oleds with the problems they've had. Unless they've cured the burn-in problem in the last 4 years, I'd stay away from any Oled.

The biggest mistake buyers make is NOT sitting down taking a pen and paper and working out WHAT and WHERE you are going to use the tv you are thinking of buying. SIZE matters is sooo true! DON'T buy something that clearly is going to be TOO BIG.. a small room can be a problem for ie a 65inch tv but perfect for a 55!! I started with a 55 and moved up to 65 inch. Perfect BUT we would NOT go bigger. 👀Remember what you regularly view on that tv also plays a big factor... Some displayed images can be smaller and NOT upscaled on a tv, upscaling can cause distortion and blur.. If you are NOT using it for ie gaming WHY spend an 100s more on one that will?? 😶Don't be put up by the China bashing community .. Our latest tv is a Hisense 65inch U7G which we now have had for over a year and it is superb. Previously a Samsung 55 inch tv no probs with that BUT there are distinct differences between that and the Hisense which is much sharper and clearer. PLUS the Hisense has Dolby AND Atmos plus extra HDMI ports et. Optical out is also excellent. Overall that tv (UK) cost £749 BUT was bought at a much lower price due to discounted offer et👀 KEEP your eyes and ears open re times when you CAN sometimes get substantial price cuts.👍 OK Sony tv's .. over the years from the legendary Trinitron we were fans of Sony products.. OVER the past decade however we find they are over priced and like Samsung now.. still pushing hype for some of their products deliberately to keep prices inflated. DON'T be fooled by NOT shopping around re other makes et.. Some can offer exceptional tvs at 100s less and still with good guarantees! 👀Lastly energy concerns et ? Most new TVs use relatively LOW amounts of power. Our Hisense is about that of an average 100w lightbulb..65inch vs The 55inch Samsung could be as high as 200 watts ... Good point re WHERE and in WHICH COUNTRY you buy the tv model et Model numbers by manufacturers can be a real pain in the butt. The model specs can also vary.. and not just whether it is an IPA panel or a VA panel. Sometimes the specs shown won't even tell you that.. 😶Is IPS better than VA? Here's the final takeaway: In a room watching the tv from the side on?? IPS panels are significantly better than VA panels when it comes to viewing angle and somewhat better than VA panels when it comes to colour. Directly looking at the tv? VA panels, however, almost always offer deeper black levels and better overall contrast.

My Hisense 75U7G has variable refresh rate, and Dolby atmos, Dolby vision IQ, HDR10+, IMAX enhanced, along with a 120 Hz panel. And ALLM for gamers. It checks all the boxes, and the picture is amazing, with black levels to rival OLED, without crushing shadow areas, and it is now selling for under $1000 in some places, it originally sold for $1500.

We bought a 55" LG C2 OLED earlier this year from Costco. Compared the picture to Sony, Samsung, and others at two other stores. and the LG was easy to choose over the others. Definitely no disappointment in our purchase. First TV we've ever bought where we have NEVER changed the picture settings since we plugged it in - didn't need to do that. It's currently on sale at Costco for $1299.00 ($300 under what we paid). Don't know if the 65" version would be any different in picture quality, but I'd guess it would be just as good.

The best 65nch tv is the one you as an ndividual enjoy subject to it having the functionality you need. Don’t get fooled by the ‘most accurate’ picture stuff. In my case it was a Phillips that won me over. I really prefer the warmer look even if its not technically as perfect. As for the chinese tv’s, yes they are great value but have yet to see one I dont prefer a european / korean / japanese one too and am willing to pay the extra for. Others may not agree.

Horses for courses one might say. 👀We looked to upgrade our Samsung 55inch and explored most of the makes available within a budget of up to 1000. Overall the winner was the Hisense U7G (European model). It was the outright winner at just £749 I kid you not.. (general price around £900 ) a bargain. Quality, connections, features.. just wiped the floor with a lot of the more expensive makes AND the overall picture quality is excellent. Why would we spend an extra £500 plus on ie a Sony manufactured in Turkey?? Most of the sales pitch is hype.. We were fans of Sony from the early days of ie the Trinitron BUT now?? Hisense kicked their butts.. Yes we actually considered the Phillips tvs.. OK. BUT the Hisense again with its price and features still convinced us. Quality build and having had it for over a year now absolutely NO issues. Yes the Dolby Atmos actually works on it unlike some major tv brands where purchasers had problems hooking up their gear et. I totally agree with you re functionality. If you're going to use it for ie gaming then why spend extra on a tv for that?

Sony upscaling is Superior to Samsung, LG or any other brand period.
I have also found Sony to be VERY reliable. I had 2 Sonys that still had amazing picture color and clarity after 10 years. My Samsung was ok but I did notice that after about 7 years the colors were not as vibrant as they were when the tv was 2 years old. No such problem with Sony

I also bought a 65" Samsung Q-led (QN65Q9FN) about 4 years ago. You're right, they were expensive in the local stores. I think I saw them for about $3200, but once you add tax, it's more of course. So, I shopped online and found an eBay discounter that sold the exact same TV's, new for $2400, with free shipping. And at that time, you didn't have to pay tax to eBay. So, I got lucky. Still a lot of money for a TV to me, but I it was the most impressive TV I'd seen compared to the other TV's available at that time. And a brand that I trust, since my computer monitor is also Samsung and has lasted forever. So, I splurged for it, and very happy with it to this day as well. No problems.

I also got the 32inch "Samsung" curved monitor, which I enjoy to this day. Played a lot of games on it and I was always satisfied with the graphics. I did put it on an arm so I could move it around whenever I wanted to use my desk instead of the hard stand.
