Gary can win alot of football games in Houston. Huge school in the middle of a recruiting hotbed in the 4th largest city in the country.
Gary is proven and could get the horses he needs at Houston. If it happens -watch out world!

Yeah, a proven has-been. 21-22 in his last four seasons.... and went 3-5 with the team Dykes took to the CFP championship game. NO THANKS!

I’m honestly surprised A&M didn’t go after Gary Patterson. If UofH can pull it off, it’ll be a great hire and a huge boost for their program.

NOBODY in their right mind is going after Gary Patterson. He got fired by the school at which he was a legend. Ignore that flaring red flag at your own peril.

Houston is not a small school, 3rd largest in the state of Texas.

Drake makes GP’s case well and I’m all in on it if it goes that direction. But I can’t help thinking he’s low key selling this in hopes that Traylor will be available when Baylor finally fires Aranda next year.

Yeah, whatever Drake recommends for Houston... run the opposite direction.

GP, best coach in TCU history. Most wins in Texas in the 2000's.

I think Gary Pattersons destiny is one last coaching success, and to finish out his coaching career at a Texas based college. If not Houston in 2024, perhaps Baylor in 2025-26 (if Aranda lays an egg again). If Traylor went to Houston, any success he had in H-Town would just be a stepping stone to the first big SEC or Big 10 coaching vacancy that pops up. With Patterson, if he does for Houston what he did for TCU, he's there for the long haul. He's the Dusty Baker of College football, and he could retire a Houston success story.

Gary Patterson's "destiny" is to be remembered as the once great coach who got fired by the program he built. Ignore that and you are dumber than dumb.

We don't need another guy retiring. Need a coach hungry to prove something more. Dare I say, a guy looking for a stepping stone

Damn straight. Gary Joe Kinne is our guy.... but UH admin may be too timid to swing for the fences.

Would he want to coach at a school that has no fan base. Tom Herman practically begged fans to show up and he was winning 10 games.

Get outta here with this Gary Patterson junk. TCU probably trying to hold back from dying of laughter. You don't fire a "legend," and "statue" unless you are totally convinced he has lost his Mojo, his magic, his ability to re-ignite his own program. TCU believed, with good reason, that the game had passed Gary by. He could not relate to modern players and was completely clueless as to the portal and NIL. His once vaunted defenses were getting shredded. When he was told he wouldn't be coming back for the next season, he threw a fit, quit on his team, and the next sighting had him in Austin helping out the Evil Empire. He was 21-22 in his last four seasons. He was 3-5 with essentially the team that Dykes took to the CFP championship game. You want UH to buy into all of that mediocrity???? UH has never brought in an old dog who made his name elsewhere. No time to start now.... especially after the Dana failed experiment. We don't need regurgitated TCU magic. We make our own magic. What do we have to lose? Another 2-5 years. I say 2 because Gary is so stubborn and so full of himself, he's quite likely to quit on the Cougars like he did the Frogs. And if Gary is still so great, why hasn't anyone hired him in two years? Why is UH the only program he is associated with these days? If he wants to coach, there are high schools and JUCOs awaiting. Just like a Houston hater to recommend the worst coach possible option for the Cougars. Hopefully he will still be available next year.... so you can urge the Bears to take him in.

Noooooooooooo! Gary, get out of the Big 12!!! How can this TCU alum root against you???? Your statue is on OUR turf!! Seriously, I wish you well anywhere you want to go. I just really wish it was outside the Big 12.

TCU also fired him mid season, so that might make him bitter enough to go to a rival.

@@snappyaj9053 Strong rumor was that they wanted him to finish the season, but he said "no." Whatever. Doesn't matter at this point. I just wish Gary all the best.

@@Riverweb interesting. I hated how he went out and hope that Gundy gets a graceful exit as he’s a similar architect of our rise. It’s wild that Dykes made it to the NCG in his first year but stumbled this year. Just shows how far the pendulum can swing I guess. There’s no juggernaut in the new B12 so TCU will have as much of a shot as anyone.

@@snappyaj9053 It feels so unsettling with Gary. We never got to say goodbye to him or celebrate all his accomplishments. That's why I wish he had finished the year. He would have had a grand goodbye.

    • @rustyreid
      @rustyreid 10 місяців тому +1

@@snappyaj9053 Oh, he is bitter alright, and wants revenge. But TCU did not fire him midseason. They told him he wouldn't be back the following year... and he quit on the team. And then showed up in Austin helping the Evil Empire.

While I like Gary I think it would be a bad hire, I think most big programs would be dissapointed. If we break down why Gary got let go at TCU it is very clear why he would not be successful but people like Mack Brown can go somewhere else. Gary failed because he is hands on and refused to adapt. Instead of letting other people manage offense and defense he was very involved..When bumpas retired as TCU's DC the defense kind of sucked ever since because he was the only DC gary really trusted. Also in a world of NIL, Gary can no longer rely on finding recruiting gems, they will leave..

wouldnt be a HUGE fan of the hire but i would support it. I just prefer Jeff Traylor and Will Stein more.
