I have exactly the same guitar. I agree with your review assessment, I may add: although immaculate in fabrication, I found my guitar, needed the trussrodd relaxed by about a quarter anti-clockwise turn slightly, as the lower strings were giving me a lot of buzz when picked straight out of the box and I later also changed the 7th to a .62 to give it some more tuning stability - which was really quite horrible for my critical ears (maybe it is just my high expectation as it is my first 7 after playing quality 6 string guitars for 35 years; and finally decided to learn something new during the 2020 lockdown.). This also greatly improved the "hollow" tonal weakness I found on the 7th string, when compared to the others - do not know if this is normal, due to the whole tone lower A-Tuning or just the pickups. The intonation from the factory was also not setup properly - had to increase the 7th string almost to the max possible length on the Lo-Pro and do some small adjustments on the other strings to get them perfectly in tune. I would have expected all of this to be done in quality control on a guitar in this price range, to be honest - in this regard Ibanaez was a disappointment. I soldered in a splitcoil pot on the volume to get some more tonal variation, as I do not exclusivly play heavy distortion. The tremelo-springs needed to be damped for vibrations not to be influencing the pickups - I took some velcrow strips for that. Next step may be to exchange the Fusion Edge Pickups with Bareknuckle Silos, although the current setup is fine for me, for now. The guitar is definitely sounding better now after 4 months use than it did fresh out of the box and as time passes!
Once I tuned back up to standard pitch, that helped me immensely. I will say in my years of working at music stores, it is actually fairly rare to get a higher end Ibanez that needs much setup out of the box, that said sometimes it does happen! The pickups are pretty much their version of a dimarzio “stock” pickup, I will be doing another video with a tone comparison of the stock setup & then with my couple of upgrades as soon as they arrive! Thank you for your insights, have fun learning 7 string stuff and I’m glad you liked the video!
@@kevinunderwoodmusic yes - tuning up to standard tuning did eliminate all the mentioned fret-buzz! However the factory tuning was said to be a whole step down (A). What I really love about this guitar, is that I can Capo the second fret and it becomes a standard tuned guitar that feels like a standard 25,5 Inch scale...
+Yee Sen Chai Yeah, I think at least for me the last time I used a tone knob on a seven string was when I originally unboxed my first one. For more chill moments and jazzy stuff it could be nice though!
No problem, it was a joy to make & get to play the guitar! Haha! If you don’t mind hitting subscribe that would be incredible, we have a lot more inbound very soon!
Oh my goodness, thank you so much that means the world to me that you enjoyed this that much! Just a heads up, I have moved into a new studio and as soon as I’m fully setup my goal is for at least two new videos a month! Gear reviews, demos, covers and more! See you soon!
Ya know, I’m not positive! Regular wireless pack at least shure style works for sure… but if it’s like a line-6 g10 or something might be iffy… I’ll get a measurement in the next day or so when I’m back at the studio.
Thank you very much for your response! It looks like a solid metal machine, but I have to agree with you, I believe they fall short with the pickups. Thank you again!
+Mattia Spadoni Cover technically, sort of! It’s 26.5 in scale length, about an inch longer than an average Ibanez. From my understanding Baritone Scale Length starts at about 27” or longer depending on tuning. It came in tuned a step down from standard, but I have since been using it in standard. It worked just fine in the other tuning, I just prefer standard for writing.
@@kevinunderwoodmusic i kinda like that guitar but I play in standard Tuning mad maybe it will be a little bit hard to play than my normal ibanez, cuz im a lead guitar and I need a comf guitar,is that guitar good for soloing?
I've had my eye on this guitar for a while. Thanks for the tones and the laughs mate!
Dude the fucking demo was fucking good dude, thx for the review.
My brother has one. Meeting up this weekend to have a Lil jam together. From what I have seen online it’s a beautiful guitar
Good review, you have a lot of talent! Subbed.
Oh my goodness, thank you so much! That means a lot, we are glad you liked it!

No problem, it’s an amazing fiddle for sure, it will be well worth the wait! Thanks for watching!

I had mine tuned up to standard too, absolutely love this guitar.
Yes
Damn amazing guitar, kinda wish it has a separate tone knob though

Tetsuo got to look at your channel! Still playing guitar, friend?
@@kevinunderwoodmusic yeah but not as much as I used too :( I gonna change that this year 😈 I subscribed
Wonderful, thank you so much! We will be keeping an eye for your channel as well for sure!
Great track dude! Love the look of that guitar! Are you going to replace the pickups?
Thank you! Yeah, I’ve got some dimarzio pups on order, can’t wait to get them in here!
I love the tiny weights under the dresser. 😂🤣
Real gain is found in the pink weights. #shred
Awesome guitar. Great personality. I had to sub ✌🏽😎👍🏽🎸

How recessed is the input jack? I use a wireless dongle and want to know if it will fit.

Hi thanks for this great review. How much does it weigh? Does the headstock dive in?
+Bothrops thank you for watching! This one is right at 9lbs & I haven’t had any neck dive!

No problem! Thanks for the sub! As soon as the ones I ordered arrive I will be doing a pickup tone comparison video, so stay tuned!
Heck to the yes
Nathan LaBee glad you liked it!
H.T.W. Love it! Need this content in my life! Keep up the great work! 🤘🏻

It’s phenomenal! I’ve used it in pretty much every video since this review! Honestly I like the extra space it gives my hands!
