Finally an interviewer who has the BALLS and Integrity to ask proper questions !! Well done.
The bloke should be a politician because he never answers a straight question, and keeps threading in sales marketing patter to fill the gaps.
A grand extra, they're taking the proverbial.
He said " getting on for 20 grand "; but they're over that, so he doesn't even know how much they're being sold for. 🙄
totally agree, what a throbber
A limited-edition that primarily seems designed to change the profit margin in an upwards direction, got it.
Yep.
Well I think thats the case with all limited editions. And I think if you want an all black rocket, this is cheaper than getting it professionaly painted.
@@hondacota4rt And if they'd said we want to capitalise on the popularity by raising the price slightly, so we're releasing an all-black special edition with a carbon guard, it'll cost you a thousand but LOOK AT THESE SHINE - then I wouldn't have said anything. I think it's mainly the "certificate of authenticity" which bothers me, that is valueless bullshit and it offends me that their marketing department thinks I'm that stupid.
Ummm... That is why limited productions are more valuable. Because they are more rare....Just saying.
@@hondacota4rt Yup I traded my 2020 Red in for this! I knew I had to strip mine down after seeing this edition in person. Hey I took a loss but life is too short to miss out.
Glad u pulled him up on the fact it was Thai boothy
A £1000 for a carbon front mud guard bar end mirror and a certificate!!! And if they add more technology the price would go up!!!! You get a certificate for loosing the 100m at school now! Sorry triumph that’s shit!!!
Exactly. These are nothing more than sheer audacious "let's see what the mugs with too much money will buy". Truly laughable.
If you want one, a man at the dealer could sell you last years model with bar mirrors, a silly carbon useless front guard and a certificate giving directions to the nearest Halfords. Once there get yourself half a dozen cans of matt black stone chip paint and a disposable painting tent. Spray liberally, leave to dry, sell on and make a couple of grand profit.
Some marketing horse shit right there! Beautiful bikes, but 1k extra for black is hilarious.
Triumph your having a laugh a £1000 for a bit of black paint a carbon mud guard and a certificate that's made in Thailand !! don't be silly you could understand the high price tag if it we're all made in the uk with its high employment costs but built in Thailand we're they pay them peanuts its an out and out scam to fleece you of your hard earned cash . if you buy one of these your a fan boy with more money then sense
Well said, mate. I concur. A quick glance through the comments also indicates the majority are not fooled by this sad and greedy marketing scam, either.
@@tonebonetones Feeling very much the same... The marketing side of this effing reeks.
It’s a beautiful bike and compares favorably to HDs that cost more.
Work out the cost of paint and a carbon mudguard not much change from a grand
"we want to give more ppl the opportunity to own the rocket.." mate, I dont think price is an issue for the ppl that are gonna buy this bike, so you might as well go for more exrtas...
Oh, I get a certificate to prove that I paid a grand for black paint and a carbon guard. On a British bike. Made in Thailand. Only respectable thing here was Boothy’s blunt questions.
My subscription list is suddenly full of videos about the new Rocket 3!! I chose the 44 Teeth video to get up to date on it...
"We didn't want to shove in more stuff - we just wanted to raise the price as if we had" -Triumph
1k gbp extra for Black exhaust. Gotta love marketing departments.
Give us the daytona already.... Jeeeezzzzz, anyways insane bike 😍
XD daytona 1200.
A grand for black paint scheme? Having a laugh!
“ made in Thailand but me mate dave dreamed it up down the pub and its a British billionaire the profit goes to so its still British”
Must be a recent change. In 2017 Triumph were telling the press the limited edition stuff is built in the UK.
@@pinappleorange only thing we make in the uk now is cam cam shafts for 2 strokes and valves for rotorys 😉 if you get what i mean
No is not made in Britain if this is true.
Probably better it’s not built in the Uk based on history.
Thumbs up to Boothy for asking some tough questions. 👍
Jeez, £1k for a piece of carbon. And no other mods because it's already the "absolute benchmark of performance". Erm lol.
And a certificate!! 😂
@@chrisfrost6581 come on! We all know that a piece of paper costs between £50-100. That's how much I'm charged for a sheet of paper when I swap insurance or utility companies....
David Gray has recovered well from his crash injury. Well done buddy
He waffled for a lot to basically tell us we’d be getting very little for a grand. Ffs..
But you do get a certificate 😂
Thats Triumph for ya. Pure marketing bs
@@jakedickinson pretty sure the certificate just says "you're a mug"
Certificate, mirrors and a light mudguard £1,000. Triumph built in Thailand, you d think they would throw in a mug too 😂
Archie’s Christmas present from the Queen ...
Don't you just hate the dodging of answering a bloody question. If you're going to do an interview then answer the questions.
People are far more savy today, I can't see them doing as well as they think. The Truxton dropped like a stone in depreciation. I would wait if one was wanted.
He said it! "They're British" (but Thai!)
They are not British made if made in Thailand if this the case.
Profiteering for new black version. Right. Nice one Triumph.
I suspect the limited edition certificate he refers to is the V5 logbook :-)
Lol there won't be many 😂👍
Public: *"We want a SuperBike".*
Triumph: Here you go, another MuscleBike".
1k quid to buy a black rocket . That's mad.
Our manufacturing "intent" starts in the UK... but final (sounds like all) manufacturing happens in Thailand.
He said Final assembly was done in Thailand, he didn't say where the parts are made, I'm betting China or India. Build um as cheep as possible and sell them for a premium with a black paint job.
Well done Boothy, questioning whether £1000 extra is good value for some black paint. Which obviously it isn’t. And what Triumph chappy doesn’t really get is if you don’t offer decent paint jobs in the first place (across the range) then they won’t be included in which sold the best! Mean looking bike though.
Well that’s 8 minutes wasted. Spoke a lot of words, said nothing. “Limited edition” only cost an extra grand, which equates too boring black paint and a piece of paper with a number on it.
What a limited edition? What a surprise from Triumph :)))))))))
Love the black exhaust, but I dont need a grand to coat an exhaust.
Seriously? £1000 for paint and one piece of carbon.
Sorry... no, just a simple big fat no. Amazing bikes by no doubt, but justifying that price... hell no.
They have to paint the bikes anyway, and since the last time I looked, black paint isn't dearer or harder to apply than any other standard colour or shade. Triumph are taking the piss.
Sophisticated? A Ducati yes, the Rocket looks agricultural. 😅
lol spot on.
Rocket will be more reliable that's a fact...
@@grenphelps7455 that's right, perfectly agree. But tractors are built for reliability and Italian stallions for design and style. 🤣
@@Csirkefoga I use to work for a Ducati dealership, so I'll have to disagree with ur opinion....seen so many nightmares.
@@Csirkefoga This is no tractor my friend, I own this edition and its a blasts! Put the Competition werkes exhaust on her and it sounds amazing!
I have no problem buying something made in Thailand but it's not a British bike if it's made in Thailand. On top of that I wouldn't want to pay a 'Made In England' price for it because it wasn't.
I do understand that Many BMW, Honda, HD, Ducati and Kawasaki 'Big Bikes' are built in Thailand as well, but I wouldn't pay a 'Made in England' price for them either.
Audience: “give us a new Daytona”
Also audience: “Looks nice but I wouldn’t buy one, too expensive” - *buys an MT-07
This reminds me of the late 1980's when people used to get the black dulux out in the shed. Gave good Winter protection as well... Lol.
Great questions! 👌👌
The explanation of the difference on price makes absolutely no sense. I take it as a insult to the customer intelligence. "1k more just for the paint because already has toooo much technology " right!
So different and soooo badass!
Boothie basically asked "is 1000 pounds worth it for a motorcycle with no real upgrades other than its black ?" and the response was "We think people will pay it." Keep your Thai "flagship bike" mate !
An extra grand for black and a carbon mudguard really. " Thai bike "the Triumph guy goes into in full BS mode.
If there ever was a bike that reminds me of Hoover, this is it!
VERY disappointed to be told it's final assembly is in Thailand! That has tainted the 'Britishness' for me and for that reason I'm out! (That and the fact I haven't got £22k sitting around 😁)
A grand for black paint. Perfect.
Already making a special edition..
Sales that bad..
He's right. For one K more, you expect something more. The question caught the Triumph official out. Couldn't answer it. 'We could have put more on, but then the price would climb up.' What nonsense. It is already 1K more for the colour.
Looks cool af. Love the gloss black with the retro paint on the tank. The matt black looks mean. If I win the lotto I'll buy both ;)
Matt paint looks mean. I had one bike with a matt paint job, never, and I mean never will I have matt paint again.
I'd love one of these to just look at.
It's better in person.....
Mr Booth... how did you keep a straight face?
The only bike that seeing the left side of it is like catching your hot neighbour with her baps out at the window, fleeting glimpse and your not sure it even happened
Are they allowed to say it's British anymore? uk.gov says "Labels must not be misleading about things like how, where and when it was made"
Man this would be a nice bike to ride here in Australia
I want one! I'd look soooo silly on one of these... and would probably undo my self! But I love these!
You should get a discount for matt paint, looks half finished. 1K more is just ridiculous
1000 for a certificate
These Triumph blacks ,the bobber, bonneville, rocket , how are they for corrosion ? Can you park them outside and forget ? Maybe hose off once a month?
For an extra grand they could have at least added a centre stand 😂
The best cruiser bike especially if your a big person!
You're ⬅ it's short for You Are 👍
I have serious cravings for a new Daytona really wish triumph would indulge us again!
£21k!!!!
These bikes are perfect.
Yes, yes...as far as I can see it... let's go as close to Diavel as we can
a piece of paper (certificate of authenticity) a cheaper black paint for a grand
and 21,000 for a bike made in the far east ....... GTFO
a proper CEO shows up on this every Friday
I love Triumph motorcycle
So they bought some matt black hammerite paint and said look...
All a bit playmobil if you ask me.
Alright Nige, have you get on new merch on the way?
Think I’ll stick wif what I got, now how much for a wrap🤔
This solves a problem for everyone who thought the Rocket was just right except for being too cheap.
Lovely looking monster of a bike..... but god i hate the salesman marketing side of this little interview from triamph :/
"We wanted these to be affordable and available to everyone" and a minute later "theres only a thousand of each and most of them wont be in the UK" so yeah.... thats marketing BS right there. for a 20 grand bike as amazing as the base specs are, the fact theyre missing some bells and whistles for this price again just leads to marketing cover up.
Spectacular bike
Not made in England I'm shocked you have broken down my dream bike.
Jeez, if there is such a thing as a movie-bad-guy bike the matte black one is it.
I know the GT model and the regular model in these two specs have a difference of heated grips as one of them my question is can heated grips be added onto the R model as easy as plug and play or does it have to be a full install including harness I would imagine they left the harness and the handle bar for an easy swap out if need be again I’m not 100% sure I was hoping if someone could clarify thanks
Think the standard one looks better and an extra grand for matt paint and a mudguard is taking the utter pish!
When’s the Speed Triple coming out?
at least put a quickshifter on it for 1000 squid
Just listening to Triumph try and justify that price gouging, is cringe worthy. "But it has a certificate!"... lol.
did a grebo spray it in his grans shed?
Staring to look like the 2012 version more. Which is a good thing.
I love how stealthy and calm cruisy they look, but don't forget they do 0-60 in 2.73 seconds, 62-124 mph in 6.5 seconds, and stuff like that.
2.73 to 60 👍🏻
@@eck63s36 edited it
I love the way they say 2.73 as if you just jump on and do that 😄
@@mark675 pretty much, yeah ;)
Thailand .. poor do, should be supporting British workers
Stathams telephone voice... Double Cheeseburger...
Nice bike. Lots of money. Vast amounts of cooperate waffle.
I think Triumph are great at listening to their audience and making what the market demands. However I do sometimes worry they’re too focused on that - their “target audience” don’t always know what they want until they see it, or what’s best for them. I reckon Triumph could afford to go even more rogue than, say, the Trident with some of their designs and colours. But overall a great brand!
Already a limited edition ? Sales figures must be bad?
Triumph need a Bagger version so they can race in the MotoAmerica series.
£21,000, oof. I hope Triumph paid you well for this ad.
First of all, disclaimer, I do love Triumph both now and historically. Except. For this. As someone who comes from a muscle car background back in the day I don't get it. It's like let's put a manageable car engine into a bike, which has been done to death with real car engines over many decades and equally pointless, IMHO. Sorry. Rocket 3 appears as useless as Hayabusa is certainly fugly.
You really need to ride one ;)
@@RogerSMiller1 Gladly Roger. Love to. My mind might change a bit I'd imagine if I did. I should write more comments whilst drinking too much red wine like above if Triumph are going to give me a free ride on their bikes. 🙂😎
@@RogerSMiller1 Yup, this machine is worth it! Most bikes are overpriced like Harley, BMW, Ducati...etc but test ride this beast! I owned a 2017 Rocket Roadster and now this edition I love this bike! A lot of companies are building their bikes in other country's I don't care as long as I'm getting a great machine.
Why do people complain about this bike not being made in UK? If it was made there it would probably cost 30k.
On the other hand, charging extra 1000 for a black paint is BS.
Wow
Dam was going to buy one but i dont want a Thai bike .
That’s a lot for a triple black paint job... checks credit card... sobs as I can’t afford one!
awesome, there's something about big bikes and engineering !!
Me want !
i don't care about any logical arguments, I want one
Triumph: please buy a rocket 3
Bikers around the world: please build a 1000cc superbike
Offer it in Roulette Green and Imperial purple. It will sell.
It's a shame but I doubt that'll ever happen, I don't believe the bs about which colours sell. They've not offered a decent colour choice on the best selling models in years to know what would be popular!
Coat everything in matte black. What an innovation! Dumb!
Triumph bring out limited edition models when they can’t sell their bikes. Just look at the TFC models that didn’t sell...
The TFC models are ALL SOLD OUT
1K for a blander bike. Okay then... 🥴
Give us a NEW daytona, please. Ill give you (triumph) my old one back for the museum 🤣
