- Boris Johnson was initially turned away from his polling place after forgetting to bring a valid ID - despite the rule being introduced by him when he was Prime Minister.
Mr Johnson quit as PM two years ago - and ran afoul of the Elections Act 2022. The new law requires everyone who votes to produce a valid photo ID in order to cast their ballot.
Why did he forget it? Epic incompetence, epic entitlement...or epic narcissism? James O'Brien figures out why...

Once again, we are talking about Bojo when, on the same day, an ex army veteran of 27 years service was denied his right to vote because the veterans ID, that he had received in January, had not been put on the list of valid identification. This, to me, is the real news story
Absolute effing disgrace. He should sue them. It's an official Government (Army) issued identification. It doesn't matter a monkey's whether or not some piffling little local authority hasn't bothered to update it's list of the trivialities of life.

Johnson's Housemaster, in a letter to it's parents said "Boris genuinely believes it an affront that He should follow the same rules as everyone else" (Or words to that effect).
The rules were only mean to stop poor people voting labour. Chums from Eton should not be forced to show ID🤔
But how does that work if you are required to show a photo id no matter who you vote for? How would anyone in the polling station know who you intended to vote for before you actually did vote?

Strangely while Johnson deserves to carry a lot of the blame for the Tories current woes, I have actually come to dislike Sunak as much as Johnson in the last few months because of his tetchy "how dare you hold me to account" demeanor when interviewed, his disingenuous mendaciousness, and his very nasty cruel streak when pursuing policies like Rwanda and taking benefits away from mentally ill people etc.

Why do so many people misunderstand the difference between Gerrymandering and voter suppression - Gerrymandering is the drawing of electoral boundaries to favour a particular party, while voter suppression is reducing the electorate , usually to the benefit of a particular party. Boris "forgetting" something? Seriously? As a result of his silly law, the turnout at our local polling station at our normal polling time of 8pm was amazing. A queue of about 50-60 people waiting in line. Normally only 3 or 4.
It was a typical example of the exceptionalism detected by his form master all those years ago. The pesky rules do not apply to him.
