This is one of few times Superman didnt have to hold back and really fight. That is really the reason he enjoyed fighting Goku. And Goku saw this the opportunity to fight someone stronger than him so Goku can keep learning and get stronger himself.

Not as out of his league as you think. Superman definitely outclasses him in raw power and durability but Goku is equal in speed, very near in experience (Superman has more years in combat but the demon-fighting years don't really mean much since no one was capable of dealing with him anyway) , higher in skill, tenacity and ability to fight against stronger opponents. Plus he gets stronger mid fight. So Superman actually had a fight on his hands and he had to really try unlike every other time they fought.

Its funny the whole argument about how with enough prep time batman can beat superman. I am a superman and goku fan. Only other superhero I like potentially more than superman is spiderman. Goku is my favorite character in dragonball. I just always preferred him since I watched him during my childhood. I honestly just think its bullshit to say a human can beat superman as long as they have enough time to prepare when you see how many insanely overpowered feats superman can do. Bro defied the odds against a God in one of those feats but he still was able to come out on top. Even if its batman you can't tell me superman wouldn't be able to pull something out of his ass in his arsenal of overpowered abilities in order to wipe batman out of every multiverse. Even if batman had his entire life. I just find it bullshit. You can't give superman the kind of ungodly overpowered insane kind of feats that he has and say batman can beat this dude. Just kind of a rule of thumb I have, if it's a comic character and they're fighting a character who DOESN'T originate from other comics, or novels or things like that, they're probably going to win. It's not a hard rule, there are exceptions, but man comics are busted asf
I mean let's be honest, anime constantly pulls powers out of nowhere unless it's some grounded show. Even Dragonball has a lot of instances of that. especially early Dragonball and really imo pulling a transformation out your butt to beat the unbeatable guy gets old after the second time it happens. Feel like the main difference is comics like DC isn't really 1 story, it's hundreds of interconnect plotlines that will never end. In Superman's case, he's been around for a good 85 years at this point and he's constantly cameoing with Wonder Woman that is 81 years old and Batman who is 83. So yeah, there isn't a consistent narrative with any of these characters anymore because they are just too old. I mean Batman used a gun and burned his villains alive in his comics when he first dropped.

1: He didn't "run away". Suns are a natural part of the universe.
2: It doesn't matter how good your martial arts are if the opponent you're fighting is several times stronger and faster than you. It's only going to matter if you're evenly matched. You're not beating a grizzly bear in a fight just because you know Bajiquan. And for the record, Superman knows more martial arts than Goku. He's also actually used martial arts in its purest form seeing as he has fought while powerless several times whereas Goku hasn't

Superman knows martial arts but what Goku has been taught by Gods is effectively irreplaceable and is a counter for basically any martial art...ever. Goku was trained fighting powerless, and if the two of them fought powerless Goku would KO him within a couple seconds. Ultra Instinct is the peak of martial arts as it is a mindset reached through pushing yourself mentally. In fact I can argue Superman does not know more martial arts than Goku soley because many of Goku's fights seem to be drawn from different styles such as Kick-Boxing, Kung-Fu, Karate, basic boxing and much more. But that is irrelvant because what he was taught from Gods effectively clears any martial art. Like I said, with both powerless, Goku KOs Superman within a second if he tries
